>gameplay
For Centaurs, you should be able to use them as mounts when not in combat if they're lightly armed & armored. I think you could ride into battle with them and fight on their back without overburdening them, depending on your loadout. Squeezing into dungeons and caves might be a bit of a bitch, and your centaur companion may find themselves too cumbersome to accompany you in certain locations. If people in wheelchairs can make do, I'm sure a transmog potion or a shrinking potion might solve the problem.
>fantasy settings
They're more at home here for sure, like having a horse. Some taverns may give you a hard "no" for your centaur companion, but I'm sure regions that are steeped in centaur culture or adjacent ones have accommodations for their unique anatomy. If nothing else, they could help carry your camp supplies and other provisions.
>loadouts for fantasy
If you're not riding them, I think they can be pretty well armed and armored- think tower shield and a mace/flail. They also make good spearmen, so I think they'd be comfortable wielding a halbard and similar pike-style weapons. This would be with them wearing plate mail cuirass for the human portion and chainmail curtain over their horse hind quarters, or perhaps some specially fitted Gambeson. Other plate sections could be fitted to their horse body as needed. Archery and crossbows seem like they'd work for ranged options. I've not considered them using magic, but having a fairly mobile spellcaster seems cool as well.

no
city watch
centaurs would make really good beat cops and be the go too for riot squads

the thing about centaurs is they arent normal calvalry
a horse is a pretty dumb animal
a centaur has no horse it needs to control

more over you wouldnt design a city for just humans unless you were a human ethnostate
humans would find plenty of situations where they have the advantage but its not a whole different world for them indoors.

centaur bodyguards would be top of the line unrivaled.

Writing General: 'festive' edition

Welcome to /wg/, the thread for all /tg/ related writing. Whether you're plotting your campaign, trying to come up with a character backstory, or just trying to write some setting fluff, this is the place to post it. You don't even have a campaign, just an idea you want to develop? You're welcome here. While the rest of /tg/ is arguing over monstergirl mating and which way rivers are supposed to flow, we're here to help you turn your thoughts into an actual finished product.

As the successor to the Storythreads, we're also open to /tg/ related fanfiction (D&D, Warhammer, Battletech, whatever). In fact, if you've written any vaguely /tg/-related short stories, you can try them out here. We also have flash-fiction challenges from time to time.

There's a discord for writers here
https://discord.gg/6AwKHGF

The previous thread can still be found in the archive here

And finally an archive of /tg/ fiction can be found here:

The Walls Are Hungry edition

"Rescue Mission"

...

"Yeah, we're almost there- I'll call you before we turn in tonight. Love you mom, tell dad I love him."

Beep.

A boy with blonde peach fuzz let out a sigh as he stared at his phone. He hated lying to his parents about anything, but the alternative was so much worse.

The van drove at exactly the speed limit as its occupants prepared for their self-imposed mission- some readied weapons in case there were hostiles. Others made sure medkits were stocked. Some prayed or were lost in thought.

Jeffery Clefton, now sixteen, was considered a veteran and expert by virtue of having survived two encounters with the Backrooms and having found a means to locate ways into and out of unrealities. Having knowledge of sorcery helped a lot.

"So what's the report on this case?" he asked the man beside him, a heavily build man with scarred chocolate skin, fresh off a honorable discharge from the Marines.

"Kid went missing in a waterpark." answered Trevor, checking an ar-15. "Went into one of the tunnels on the lazy river, never came back out. Security cameras were posted at both ends, and they already checked to see if he was taken out of the park."

"And they don't think it's just a kidnapping... why?" Jeffery asked.

"Older guy went missing a few months back. They didn't panic too much because initially they thought he just left of his own free will. Then his family started looking for him- last place he was seen was going into the same tunnel."

Jeffery frowned. It could be a coincidence, a false alarm. But rarely did the Backroom Survivors Group organize something like this unless there was a major consensus on an unreality being involved.

"There's been an uptick in unexplained disappearances lately." noted Samantha, a former Navy sailor in the front passenger seat. "Those parents and the abusive teacher, multiple kids... this feels less like your usual accidental entry."

They arrived at the waterpark around midnight, yellow tape and wire gates impeding their progress. "Wild Waves" had been shut down while an investigation proceeded, the owners unwilling to risk further lawsuits until things were resolved.

Kyle, a former felon who's first encounter with unrealities had happened while breaking into a mall at night, handily dealt with the chains and padlocks barring their way. Breaking and entering was a necessity for what they did, but it still made Jeffery uneasy every time they had to resort to such measures.

As he wove sorcery to deceive the security cameras, Jeffery couldn't help but look around nervously for any witnesses. Being caught with heavy weaponry in a place you weren't supposed to be wasn't something he wanted to explain to a judge... or his parents, who thought he was on a trip with friends. But it hadn't been long ago that he had been a victim, scared and desperate, managing to escape only by sheer virtue of luck.

Brightly colored inner tubes and closed concession stands greeted them as they made their way through the entrance, closing the gate behind them so it didn't immediately look like there had been an intrusion. Waterways and pools normally churned by turbines and an endless parade of customers now were starkly still, reflecting the scant moonlight coming through the clouds.

Eventually they reached where the lazy river entered the tunnel. He brought up his phone, the faithful discontinued map application that had proven to be an effective navigation tool.

Not fifty feet in was a glitchy distortion on the map- there was an entrance, but what it would look like or how it would behave, he couldn't be sure.

(Continuing later.)

Well, I mean thats true for pretty much every army in 4th edition. I mean shit, look at ironjawz faction traits page lol. They actually cropped it from the index to the tome because the 3/4s of a blank page was too embarrassing
>>
Anyone got 2nd and 3rd edition battletome PDFs to share? I could really read most of them, but particularly looking for: Soulblight Gravelords, Ogor mawtribes, orruk warclans, Stormcast Eternals, Cities of Sigmar and Ossiarch bonereapers.
>>
>>97279474
We already have a pretty good idea of what the obr wave looks like from other rumourmongers. Archers are a 5 man unit. There's also a 10 man "assassin" type unit. Finally we have two single piece models, one of which will be a chariot, the other one might be Arkhan, but he could also be part of the chariot kit we don't know.
(Also sidenote the leaker who posted today isn't THE whitefang, but a different guy called whitefang back me up. Still has a good track record though.)

Trench Raiding With The Lads Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?

>pull ahead with the flexibility of weapon stealing
What are good weapons to nab from other factions? I haven't paid too much attention to gear as much as to units.
>>
>>97276121
You really should pay attention to gear as it's one of the major IS failings.
They're in this weird limbo of not having much of the advanced tech like NA/HL, but also not really having much of the weird/ramshackle stuff that the other factions have.
They have no decent multi-shot weapon (machinegun is usually quite hard to leverage properly), and no weapons with that much punch outside of the Bull only weapons.
And even with those the Murad is a bad choice for the Bull at +0 ranged. And is also the only "artillery" weapon that doesn't ignore long range/cover in some capacity, while also causing no injury rolls on anything other than what's directly hit.
So good picks for HoW to steal are:
NA - Auto-rifle, SMG, Heavy Flamer, Satchel Charge and maybe Machine Armour.
TP - AT Hammer, Auto-pistol and Martyrdom Pills.
My personal picks are the heavy flamer and auto-pistol as those give you anti-armour punch and a multi-shot weapon that a dual pistol melee focused Alchemist can really mke work.

It makes him an interesting character among the other protagonists because he picks up the game only to achieve a practical goal and has to come to indentify his personal relationship with the game only afterward. It's so much more interesting than what we've gotten before.

ignoring how bad od treat yuyu as a protagonist, not knowing if he can win or not make the games way more interesting, in this type of series you would never expect yuyu losing to shirogane in wd3 or tohya in od1 meanwhile in divinez i know that akina will miracle his way into victory
>>
>>97275307
Yuyu>Akina for cardfights. Yuyu catches enough Ls to keep him somewhat interesting during cardfights and his deck has actual variance in what its doing by design, even if his xod lists get foul

Akina>Yuyu for character. Yuyu failed to do in six cours what Akina did in three, who also doesnt get shafted by Tohya Mirei and Danji in the character department at the same time

He ends up being a shitty person with little actual substance or justification for his terrible behavior. He's just annoying now.

Make it 1WB and 1/3. Vigilance and First Strike. I would try to word the first ability like it gains indest and deathtouch if it's attacking alone. Blocking doesn't fit NV flavor or MtG color theory. If you want the +1/+1 counters, that's fine.

As-is it's too slow for any real play, but 3 CMC would be OP with both abilities. Refine the abilities like I suggest and I think it could work.

Iron Maiden - ?
Artifact Creature - Structure
2/4

Iron Maiden cannot attack.

On ETB, Iron Maiden fights target creature. If that creature survives, it becomes a 1/1 creature and cannot attack as long as Iron Maiden is in play.

Bardo is a very specific mentality towards humanity. Most Tzimisce see humans are we see bugs. They feel forced to eat them and that they are much better than humans. That's why they try so hard to detatch themselves to become something superior.

Logically speaking, there can be Tzimisce that follow Bardo, which isn't just a Discipline, but an entire moral ethos. But, they'd be the odd ones.

I often suffer from the same issue with Dark Heresy in that people seem to play it as a dungeon crawler and everyone gets over geared rapidly. Current campaign is in hiatus but we're mid career and it's only the second "mission". People walking around with bolters and carapace - again, no one is checking weight/ammo/reloads etc. I bring up playing Wrath instead but everyone just says it's a shit system but they've never played.

I don't check weight too much, I always felt it was superfluous. However, I do usually use basically loadouts (usually 2 weapons and maybe a sidearm/melee weapon), and tell peeps that if their loadout seems unreasonably heavy then they probably won't fit it on their body. I do tell peeps to carefully check their ammo and reloads, though. OSP is very important, and the teams have to figure out weapon and ammo transportation, such as spending time outfitting a vehicle with ammo racks, purchasing ammo drops, or that one time they bought a porter slave.

It's inconsistent, and is barely worth more than a buzzword in a conversation.

So it would be nice if OP could use his own words to explain what he means by "murderhobo games" so such worthless shit-flinging can be avoided and we can have an actual conversation about the thread he absolutely needed to start; seeing how this is a board for tabletop games after all.

Ok, gonna try to get it done for this evening, here's the New Alamo Outlaw. Very cheap, low Discipline, that will likely require you to use Ambush mechanics or loading up on Alcohol to get them to push through the mid and late game.
Thinking there could be some campaign mechanics (maybe a Criminal sponsor?) where that roll may turn into a promotion mechanic.
Any feedback on switching the Gunslinger to a Specialist profile?

Stage Coach. Lots of rules, but I think it should be simple enough once it hit the table. Shelter rules are for the Frontier Settler, if you load on them then all you have to do is give your passenger Warm Meals and you'll recoup a part of your cost. Not enough to turn it into a legitimate econ engine, but a start.
RAW there's nothing to prevent you from using the Stage Coach's Embarked models for the various Ambushes, so there's a bit of gimmick there to pull as well.
(Fml new kitten likes to tapdance on my keyboard I had to rewrite this twice already... )

>Would you join the SCP Foundation or one of its rivals?
I would join the Global Occult Coalition just to pilot their mecha.
>Which Mobile Task Force would you join?
If I have to pick then it will be the one that eliminates kaiju. I don't remember their name.
>Have you played any of the tabletop games based on SCP?
I didn't know they exist. Are they available online for free?

If I were to join the Foundation, it'd be Ethics Committee just to see what their internal barometer is looking like in there.

For a POI besides? Anartists at large, whether or not they're part of "Are We Cool Yet?".
