>>97271503Hey so im new to pathfinder and i was wondering if there was any significant difference between 1E and 2EI dont want to hop into 2E and find myself playing a neutered version if you understand what i mean.Just asking before i look into the books, most exposure ive had is through the owlcat games.
>>97277320yeah look at that, its a pretty good way to balance it. Has anyone ever used it in a campaign?
>>97277345Yeah 2E will feel a lot more manageable as the GM but players most often feel a little more on rails. Still plenty of options if mix and matching them is your pleasure, but the highs and lows are very reigned in power wise. I'm sure you could still make an absolutely deadweight useless character filled with "flavor" if you felt like but that's up to you. Lorewise you already know its neutered they've been neutering it since and before those games you played even came out. Not a problem at my table
>>97277346I used it in a Hell's Vengeance campaign with my Undead Lord necromancy-focused Cleric, it really helped me act as a healer when you normally can't for the party when used in concert with stuff like Inflict spells or tapping an ally with this before spamming channels.
>>97277543yeah thats kind of the idea I am going for. I am looking for ways to make healers, without the need for "Clerics or healers"
>You all meet in the tavern of an isolated village. It's seven in the morning, and everyone is having their breakfast.>You see in the corner a young man in studded leather chatting animatedly with an older woman in heavy armor.>A young woman lets out a cheer as she beats a man of the same age in an arm wrestle. He wears a suit of gleaming gothic half-plate, while she wears a hauberk and gambeson. After the contest has ended, the pair enjoy a hearty meal of turkey and maize together.>An old man wearing a ragged cloak over equally ragged clothes nurses a cooling cup of coffee while watching their antics, stirring in a spoonful of sugar after an exploratory taste.>A woman sat on a stool by the bar takes in one last drag of her cigarette before she stubs it out in an ashtray. With that out of the way, she tucks into a pumpkin pie that is waiting for her.>A man with dark skin pays for his meal with several unfamiliar coins, before brushing past you on his way out the door. He wears a vest made of soft leather over a loose cotton shirt, and has a long sword in a sheath strapped to his back, ready to be drawn at any moment.>A young girl greets you animatedly and offers you menus. She asks if any of you were interested in buying some of the potato and rabbit stew that is currently cooking, or if you'd like rooms for the night. What does your latest tabletop character do in this situation?
>>97276262Maybe his clothes are ragged because he keeps spending all his money on sugar and coffee
>>97276113My latest tabletop character couldn't possibly get into this situation. And no, this isn't a case of "hurr u cant hypothetical", this is a matter of numerous things in this situation being unable to happen in the world she occupies.Also...>you>your character...which one?I play roleplaying games; I am not my characters. Do you want to know what I'd do, or what my character would do?These two behaviors aren't the same.
>>97276113Easy, they would order a helping of stew on behalf of the party, and walk past all the unusually detailed npcs to the party's table to discuss what their next big job is.
>>97276198>neither of those are anachronisms"Studded leather armor" is indeed not an anachronism because it never existed at all, ever.
>>97276198>not suprising he'd be beaten by an actual soldierIt is actually. Even untrained males would beat a trained woman in an arm wrestling match hands down. ESPECIALY if the man himself is at least strong enough to be wearing half-plate like that.

>>97269759>>97274555I think that videogame will come out and be mid.Other than that, just Monster.
My perfect KDM mod:>less hunts>more crafts>more split between character power and gear power (currently is like 5:95)>More instadeath like the Murder settlement event, which is like, a whole event and a thing you play around, and less instadeath like any random hunt even "the moquito that bite you had supercancer. You died.">more tits
>>97276676>the Murder settlement event, which is like, a whole event and a thing you play aroundCan't really play around "flip the top card of the settlement event"; which I hate. On the other hand, I really like the murder event when they add it "1d5 years from now" and wish most instadeath events were similar (stuff like the kingsman curse or antelope aftermath)
>>97276676Murder i find objectionable because (iirc?) it targets your most experienced returning survivor? That's always a really fucking obnoxious kick in the balls.I could deal with some random schmuck being done in just fine but the star hunter is annoying.Assuming my memory isn't faulty we once had murder happen, the murderer got caught, and we got the option where they become the undisputed murder king (queen in that case) of the settlement. That was fun. But>survivor with the most hunt xp dies. Will never not be annoying.
>>97277026>>97276969Yes the actual target of it is bad, and yes it's just a card flip. And yes the "add event in x years" is awesomeBut the first thing is just a balance thing, like it could be "the lowest XP kills the highest XP, add takes half his xp/split his xp between the other survivors that catch the murder" it can be made fineand for being a card flip, I see it as a settlement inevitability, it has settlement consequences, even if it's a card flip, it's a thing that can happen and it's how that affects your settlement/story, and what they do about it, it leads to something, it's a storybuilding effectI would be fine with a card that says "the oldest person over X hunt xp in the settlement, has died of old age", things happen, what does your settlement do about itI wouldn't be fine with a random event saying "if you are old over X hunt xp you die"

I like Star Wars but all of the TV shows outside of the original Clone Wars and seasons 1-6 of the CG cartoon are just bad. Star Wars has so much media now but it’s just shit. What a cursed franchise. I’m trying to watch the Bad Batch and that’s all it is; a bad batch of episodes.I am reading Dark Lord The Rise of Darth Vader and on the fourth part and it’s just boring now. I like the EU books but this one jus seemed like false advertising, people say it focuses too much on secondary characters but Vader is pretty much the secondary character and I have to slog through boring excerpts about literally who Jedi. I thought it would cover a series of great events early in his career and his philosophy on the dark side but it’s just this plot revolving around these stupid Jedi. Disappointed. What EU media can I read next to not feel disappointed? Or is there just some other fantasy that I am missing out on?

Anyone play it yet? I like the "rustic fantasy" setting. The core rules seem interesting, it has more mechanics and gameplay than most other narrative games. I enjoy that it doesn't have moves or whatever to confine you, you can actually play your character and do whatever you want. It's got enough knobs and options in terms of resolution I feel like it's actually a real game despite having that more story focus vs simulation focus. And I like that the DM has all the traditional power of the DM and there's not like "Fate Points" or something else that gives players control to change stuff.Thinking I might try a short game for my table, just a few lower powered sessions. It also has good tools for a solo stuff which is interesting.
I think it looks cool as fuck and want to GM it, but I'm waiting for them to properly finish the setting book first. They're still playtesting it.I already bought both the core edition and ZAMANORA, which is supposedly compatible with it.So, yeah, can't tell you anything about it other than I am also excited to try it out. Definitely the newest RPG that most caught my attention in the past couple years.
I'd be willing to check it out. City of Mist got shilled a lot but that setting never appealed to me.
As a player I found it confusing and scattered. Every character has different key words as stats, which makes it hard to know what to roll and when. Want to check if there is an ambush up ahead, should I roll using “never gives up” or “attention to details”. If you make a tag too specific you will never use it, too general and you use it for everything.

>>97272777Happy New Year man, thanks for your contributions, as always, absolutely insane quality. >>97270027Is this a bit better? I'd like to keep the Magma tiles on this one.
>>97272777Rocking Edit>>97275192>Better?I really like the volumetric thing you have going with the edges. I do think the magma still contrasts, but I can't think of a way to have it not while being differentiable from the water so your way is the best as it stands.
Updated the timeline. This reminds me we need to re-write some of the wiki articles to take into account the lore updates, particularly those related to the Second Oriental Crisis and the Italo-Ethiopian War.
If you could choose the set of core classes (in the PHB/core book and ideally the rest of the classes are designed around them) what would you choose? They don't have to be identical to their current incarnations. For me its,>Ranger, absorbs a lot of the fighter but keeps the independent survivalist schtick.>Paladin, Divine warrior with special abilities but no spells>Rogue,Sneaky stabby martial, basically as he is now>Wizard,>Druid,>Cleric,Default to being lightly armoured wandering friar tuck type character, but with options to put on some armour and bonk.
Fighting person, HumanSome kind of religious practitioner, Humanboth against inhumans like Elf, Dwarf, Demons.inhumans are the only ones that can have spellcasting. Their spell casting should be divided between innate stuff and written stuff. Humans killing the inhumans should be able to loot the written spells. Roll 10s every Day until eligible to learn. Spell tomes could contain upto 1d10 spells.I hate spell casters so much it's unreal
>>97277187For years now, I've been trying to work an adventure fantasy game to my own taste; from mechanics I enjoy to inspirations I think are cool.So of course I am working on a class system that at least references core classes in some regard, as a sort of love letter to their legacy; but the execution is quite different in practice. To explain all of my plans would take multiple, full-character-limit posts, and hours to properly articulate, and even then there's no guarantee it will even be acknowledged beyond "tldr" or "just play vidya gaem", if at all.But to answer the thread's topic directly, I have:>artificer? I don't know if it counts to include this one, because they don't actually make anything, but they have that "magitechy" vibe; they use a weapon that morphs between gun mode and blade mode as the situation calls, and have powerful gravity spells>barbarian that lifts field objects or enemies and bashes other enemies with them>cleric & paladin rolled together in degrees depending on focus on armor, weaponry, miracles, and possible mount or squire>druid chooses one beast to align to and wildshapes; no animal companions or wizard spells>fighter chooses one weapon to master; their style varies based on chosen weapon and a supplementary ability>ranger, with focus on making a useful animal companion through various synergies, choosing one animal to set the tone of the ranger's fighting style>thief has rogue rolled into it, favoring not just sneak attacks and stealing, but being a good "enemy phase" reactive fighter>wizard is rolled into sorcerer, but some spells are reduced in power or outright removedComment too long.
