>>972647833e is more constrained in a lot of areas, at least in terms of how you interact in a practical manner. Like if you go toe to toe with a Solar, he's more than likely going to beat your ass at actually achieving the goals you set out to do. However, you do things in a weird, wacky woohoo way that tends to inflict collateral (literally or figuratively) in place of sheer effectiveness. You do have a few really interesting trump cards that are harder to deal with, but you're no longer changing the type of game that's being played.I don't remember any of the signatures
>>97262566>"Well it'll give mortals a way to attack long distances" which honestly how do you even argueYou remind the retard that bows and other ranged weapons already exist.
>>97264668Some people from the Realm are obviously irreverent, similarly to, say, how people in the Middle Ages weren't always good Catholics and might outright war with the Pope. Catholic Church was still a big deal in the Middle Ages, though, as is Immaculate Order in the Realm. A Solar appearing on the Blessed Isle and trying to get people to help him would be like Satan walking into a medieval village and going "Hey, I might be Satan, but I'm actually a good guy".>>97264674Immaculate Order offers education, charity, protection from rogue spirits, spiritual certainty and comfot - which actually does matter to people - rules and social pressure that keeps the worst excesses of the Dynasty more or less in check, and also monks frequently demonstrate against behavior of the ruling class thhey find immoral, inappripriate and un-Immaculate and sometimes side with peasants during peasant rebellions. The Order does plenty, and the setting in every edition is written with the assumption that people on the Isle do, by and large, take their faith seriously. As I said, it's obviously fine to change that if something else fits your game better, but it's a big change, and the default setting is still one where people, inlcuding Dragon-Blooded, genuinely believe in what the Immaculate Order teaches. Go read the sidebar "Constructed Belief" on page 70 of 1E's Exalted: the Dragon-Blooded>>97264723Realm's peasants obviously have a raw deal compared to modern-day Western world, but they're no worse off than peasants anywhere else in Creation. Which is not great because peasants in general aren't in a great position, but it's not like the Realm's an uniquely or even particularly terrible society for its own. Now, with social Charms a Solar obviously can swing pretty much any mortal to his side, but just starting glowing golden on the Isle and expecting peasants to decide that this guy is cooler than their current lords wouldn't work in the canon setting.
>>97264945Given that exalted are duper strong they could make crazy compound bows with absurd ranges too
>>97265300I was thinking more along the lines of people going "well, 10'000 attacks from so far away, and that's not even getting into what tanks can do!" sort of discourse. or acting like it turns every mortal into an instant death machine that are a threat to solaroids that can snipe them from over the horizon. You know, stupid shit.

Read some books about actual history and actual social interactions between different cultural groups. If you make a basedboy pseudo-historical setting, when even nowadays in your fucking country people kill each other because of some ideological and alienated hatred, then you are just stupid. I didn't say that they are evil, maybe you are evil (but no, you are just stupid). When you eat your fucking chicken on dinner that doesn't mean that you are evil toward chickens, idiot.See, this is exactly what I am talking about, you are an ideological xenophobe. The alien could have literally any trait but it's different so it's intrinsically bad. You're fucking retarded. Americans and Japanese engage in mutually beneficial trade today, and have for the past 80 years, but that doesn't count as "actual history" because that's only when different groups are violent, not when they cooperate for mutual benefit.
Pictured: an African buffalo and some oxpeckers. As they are so fundamentally and psychologically different, they are incapable of engaging in mutually beneficial actions. The oxpeckers are clearly about to kill the African buffalo.
>>97265100>the end point is destruction of humanity. In the plain text of the story the Deep Ones are explicitly described as not wanting to destroy humanity.

Half the people who thought differently.>The Deep Ones don't act as predators preying upon humansYeah, half the people were just some minor mistake.>If your standard for alien psychology would apply to other humans, then how does it differ from an "American basedboy"?I didn't understand what's your point. Different cultures can have psychology alien to each other. An American basedboy cannot properly understand a Taliban fighter. But when we are talking about "historical consciousness" (medieval, for example) in comparison to basedboy's consciousness, that have pretty different anachronistic character, which is much less plausible to have.>, as they are the ones receiving the money (gold) in exchange for indulging the Deep One's habits (fucking human women).Yeah, the great replacement for gold is a good deal.Comment too long. Outsiders were left alone unless they were to be sacrifices and residents were left alone if they submitted to the authority of the Deep Ones. Why were so many of the "OG" game designers insufferable faggots? It seems like the vast majority of game designers from the 70s and 80s were self-obsessed dickheads who openly hated and looked down on their customer base. There were obviously exceptions, and some like Gygax would go on to regret and apologize for it, but still, what made so many "professionals" back then such fags?Pic related: WFRP author James Wallis's response to a letter criticizing how railroaded The Enemy Within campaign was.

>>97265282Considering you have no actual counter, good job conceding indeed, fuckboi. John Wick's stories of dickery aren't unique at all, the only differences are that he's an rpg designer who was narcissistic enough to publish a book about his dickery, and that he likely thought himself more clever than he was in reality.

I'm NOT a shitty DM: Roleplaying should absolutely affect the DC of a check. >If I decide to open my mouth and spill my spaghetti that makes the check harder. >If I come up with a great excuse that's fun or convincing, that should make the check easier.>If the PC just walks up and says "I want my character to bluff the guard into killing himself." I'll him roll for it but the DC is 70 and a nat 20 is just keeping the guard from trying to detain him and call for back up and instead telling him to bugger off.Being a good DM is playing these things by ear. The player should have accepted the DM saying its impossible because1. he tried to convince the guard with bad roleplay first not RPG stats and any rolls he makes is to deescelate at that point2. the DM is the final arbiter of the game and its not really a big deal (hints the player is autistic who has a meltie about something that's a big deal)3. The DM could have been more diplomatic to get the game moving again, allowing him to roll, but setting the DC so high he will always fail and moving on instead of wasting everyone's time. Unfortunately if you play with mentally ill or childish people it helps to be the adult in the room.
>>97264603All this post-thinking is okNow, they were under specific orders from grimma to actually take the staff. So, ON TOP of the orders to seize all weapons before the king, they had an ADDITIONAL order to specifically take the wizard staff. This setting is DOUBLE the thing you posed as absurdity, and a bluff was still called, won, and "the story changed"If it works for Tolkien, why is your super-duper-special setting entitled to "not work or else I have to change my premade brain!"
>>97265221Oh hey! You rolled a 17Seems like you stuck in the loop.Refer to>>97264253>>97264264
>>97265281I will admit that a few times I've encountered people who tried to bluff guards with the laziest possible excuses and no attempts to disguise themselves as possible. Those times, I will outright just stop the game to explain to them in detail how and where they fucked up before giving them a chance to have a do-over.And that's mainly because I've learned there's a difference between stupid people and belligerently stupid people. Normal stupid people just don't have the capacity to understand how other people think on their own, so having the flaws of their retarded plan pointed out to their faces isn't a big deal since they'll be happy to fix it. Belligerently stupid people on the other hand just presume everyone is stupider than they are, so if they try to stand their ground on why their plan should work regardless of the DM outright warning them, then I take it as them basically signing their right to complain away.

>>97259559>>97260294it wasn't just the 1.5 kits. there were a ton of 2e kits that had some combination of insane assembly, unbelievably fragile models, weird scaling (like justice and the viks being fucked up), or just way way more pieces cut than there needed to be. there were only a handful of cases where they weren't a strict downgrade from the metals, and that mostly in the bigger monsters.I'll grant that they've gotten better with time, but they don't get a pass for all that. I got an FDM printer lately and now I'm livid because I realised how fucking awful Pajeet47's prints are. Even with a 0.4 nozzle you can print smooth surfaces with great detail as long as you go with the lowest layers possible. I won't even mention how much the quality improves with a 0.2 nozzle.

>>97262758Because that's what we're being given and creating at this point. An amalgamation of things put together with various other things to make what resembles something cohesive but has little care put into it and is basically haphazard. In terms of decks we used to call them "piles" IE spellcaster pile. Language evolves and a term to describe such conditions now exists so the term is used for it IE spellcaster slop. The term can also refer to the input/new cards because they are equally haphazardly designed with a lack of consideration of how they'll interact with the rest of the game with a lack of restriction such as an archetype, type, or attribute lock.Sure it can be cool but at some point it homogenizes things.Ironically the term slop is also technically subject to being slop. Because there's no real limit to it's application it can be used wherever and on whatever. Homogenizing language and replacing many exclusive adjectives.
