>>97276270>becuase the only faction with two spearhead boxes is OBRYou are insanely wrong if I'm reading that right. Off the top of my head, at least 8 other armies have 2.
>>97276275I think he means they're the only one with two being actively sold at once
>>97276277I can get the Seraphon, Slaves, and the KB/IG boxes if you wanna count them as one army on the Warhammer website. My store still has a few of the old ones so I just checked at the source.
>>97276287Ops I forgot seraphon existed, slaves (warrior/darkoath)and ig / kbI considered them different "armies" (actually I thought kb and ig were different battletome ahah, but honestly I never saw KB after the last edition starter set)
What are some of your experiences with BRP or mythras? Favorite stories, characters, or supplements? I generally like running pulp or horror campaigns. Funniest story setup was how my players thwarted a small series of adventures I planned before it even started.>Players role up an old priest, a journalist, and basically fred from scooby doo. >Investigating a series of murders and disappearances. >Get captured thesmelves and wind up in a rundown factory converted to sort of look likea victorian mansion.>Meet an obvious vampire who uses them for basic company and conversation before planning to kill them.>My players escape, the frail priest manages to full nelson the vampire, and the other players manage to use a stake to kill him. It ended what I planned to be a multi session adventure in one night. It was a lot of lucky roles and ended up with being funny.
>>97272739Osprey put out an rpg called Jackals a few years back that is a brp derived bronze age fantasy setting.
>>97273683Jackals is pretty good. I own it as well, but I kind of like the presentation of an alternate historical fantasy. I like seeing what kind of tweeks the writers do to historical events in terms of how the fantasy elements affect them.
>>97270691I’m far more of a fan of the allotments system destined the supers supplement hasBut the encumberance system is very workable Especially if you have a VTT though it is clunky and it has worked for the post apoc game I’ve been running Heavily armoured PC’s especially if they are small have been able to carry less and have packed a lot of important equipment onto their vehicles or mounts There was also an alternative simplified encumberance system in the book but I don’t see that many pepole talk about it >>97270919Even when I used fixed initiative good armour in the hands of the PC’s can be a little strong at protecting them Though there are plenty of other ways to fuck with them such as entangling weapons and tripping, on crits the bypass armour combat effect also exists On a good damage roll 2h great weapons or large monsters can still be decently nasty to well armoured PC’s but that >>97269039Comment too long. Anyone play it yet? I like the "rustic fantasy" setting. The core rules seem interesting, it has more mechanics and gameplay than most other narrative games. I enjoy that it doesn't have moves or whatever to confine you, you can actually play your character and do whatever you want. It's got enough knobs and options in terms of resolution I feel like it's actually a real game despite having that more story focus vs simulation focus. And I like that the DM has all the traditional power of the DM and there's not like "Fate Points" or something else that gives players control to change stuff.Thinking I might try a short game for my table, just a few lower powered sessions. It also has good tools for a solo stuff which is interesting.
I think it looks cool as fuck and want to GM it, but I'm waiting for them to properly finish the setting book first. They're still playtesting it.I already bought both the core edition and ZAMANORA, which is supposedly compatible with it.So, yeah, can't tell you anything about it other than I am also excited to try it out. Definitely the newest RPG that most caught my attention in the past couple years.

I would like to talk about the Chronicles of Darkness game line Deviant: The Renegades, or more specifically, one major upcoming supplement. Deviant was released in late 2021, and has had three additional sourcebooks since then. A new supplement, Black Vans, has been in playtesting for a while, and is currently being previewed.I am not being paid or sponsored to promote this book in any way. I am just very fascinated by it, and indeed, I already ran a mini-campaign using the playtest material.Deviant is, by default, a game about playing angsty, scarred superheroes who either fight world-manipulating conspiracies or work for them. Black Vans is a toolkit full of variant rules, quick NPC creation, variant character types, and variant genres. These variants range from the minor to the dramatic, completely overhauling what were once non-negotiable, foundational themes and mechanics. Maybe your character is not angsty or scarred at all, perhaps they are a """""regular human""""" like John Wick or Batman, or the campaign might have nothing to do with world-manipulating conspiracies. These variant genres include cyberpunk, high fantasy, post-apocalypse, space opera, and superhero emergence. This is a beefy supplement. For example, one chapter alone dedicates 38,000+ words to playing other monsters of the Chronicles of Darkness: Beasts, changelings, demons, Sin-Eaters, hunters (entirely separate from the variant rules for """natural""" superpowers), mages, mummies, Prometheans, vampires, and werewolves. No additional supplements beyond Deviant are necessary; the rules are self-contained, allowing the group to play a monster mash of an urban fantasy setting without needing a daunting 7+ books. And yes, they are supposed to be balanced against one another, so a vampire in the same group as a full-fledged mage is probably some older Kindred.(Continued.)
>>97275171>>97275276That is merely one of many, many ways to spin Deviants and conspiracies. Even without bringing in Black Vans, the game and its setting are pretty darned flexible in flavoring, as explained here >>97217944, here >>97217956, here >>97217964, and here >>97217974.A Deviant and their conspiracy could be John Wick and the assassin underworld, Baki and a grotesque fighting circuit, a magical girl and a wider network of fuzzy mascot creatures, a [vampire/werewolf/mage/changeling/etc.] gone wrong and their supernatural society, and so on.
Snagged a copy for super cheap on eBay, hoping I can get my group to try this out next year. I've always wanted to run something CoD/WoD, this seems a little more... approachable than Vampire.
>>97275333As I mentioned to someone else earlier, you have a lot of material to work with. Are you interested in running a vanilla Renegades game, the assumed default? A vanilla Devoted game? One of the Black Vans variant genres? Something else entirely? What starting Standing/Threat Level were you considering?
My Buddy Proposed that we play a game of DTR and when I was really into it and we were ready to go, my first instinct was to buy the first two volumes of 2000's Ultimate X-Men. Because it matches vibes, almost 1:1 especially in the second volume. Now I need to wait for foundry to have a good deviant module before we play so the damn game is probably delayed until 2026.

>>97275794I tend to do simple flowcharts for natural caves rather than maps, with long, long narrow passages that you sometimes really need to squeeze through in order to get from one chamber to the next. It helps provide a slight change of pace and format so that natural caves feel distinct from dungeons, and it's also how a good number of actual caves tend to be.
>>97275843There's a lot of maps of actual cave systems that can be reasonably turned into dungeons.

Realistically, what would happen first if the Emperor woke up? I wonder if the main reason he didn't want to be worshiped as a god is because the prayers would change him. Humans worship him and have created him to be some merciless being demanding reverence and since belief is power in this setting I wonder if he would be changed into that by now.

Anyone tried Warhammer fantasy renaissance? And if so, how is it?
What is a fun army to build and paint, with some conversion options ?
>>97276259Honestly, most of them. The high elves and dwarves have probably the least modability, but even then you could do tons. I even saw a guy way back with a Nordic tomb king army. But for a more direct answer, beastmen, WoC, and Empire I'd put at the top right now for fun, color schemes, and modability combined.
