Yeah, when they announced the alt arts would be based on album covers I was like, "What do you mean? This sounds like it could be dumb," but they managed to hit me squarely in the nostalgia.
I still listen to the entire Gorillaz - Demon Days album like once a week.

Necromancy Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?

This is something I figured would be a thing one day, like how Warhammer does campaigns. There would be a united Christian effort to retake Constantinople.

I agree about the Door, aren't the church trying to find out how the door works themselves? Seems like a very end-game question for the group.

My Anchrorite Shrine (St. Meth) just survived his 6th campaign game.
I started him out with an Anti Materiel Rifle and he's been doing fantastic work so far.
Hallowed Anchorite + Sacred geometry, and I got to promote him after the first game and he scored glorious deeds already.

These are the skills I rolled for him and they're nasty as fuck.
Question is: Is the AMR the best weapon for this? +1 on ranged attacks thanks to the Sacred Geometry.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

>For those of you who use 1:1 time, how long are your sessions?
1:1 time was conceived in an era in which the average session was probably EIGHT hours or so. What you COULD do if your sessions are THREE hours is saying that characters have to return to the base only if they didn't start this session in it, and use 1:2 time (assuming you have multiple parties) or 1:1 time only when the characters are back into safety (assuming you have only one party, but NOT recommended). This is the rough equivalent of 1:1 time and SIX hour sessions.

This is a nice idea, and partially well executed, but it suffers from some obvious flaws. The failure to concatenate terrains (Mountain/Mountains; Swamp/Wetland) seems like it should be an easy fix; the unfortunate choice of sources seems less easy to overcome. Worse, far too many entries are just shovelware monsters from the BFRPG Field Guides, some of which most likely nobody has ever used. Dream bear?

In general, a comparative resource for OSE and BFRPG seems to have limited value. Comparing OSE-AF to OSRIC is potentially more useful, but then the stat blocks of the former aren't on the site since they're not open content; adding one of the popular OD&D clones (presumably S&W White Box would win by default) would also have been valuable.

As this thing is now, it's just a bauble, not useful. I can't see myself returning to it.

Just played 3.0 and my biggest issue is with combat
>Lots of rules ae based on chargeing, meaning that combats slow down a lot on the 2nd round
>Combats can hold units up for multiple turns with nothing much happening
>Haveing to take a LD check and breaking after losing 0-1 is dumb from both a fluff and crunch side of things
>Volley fire feels like a waste of time, most times nothing happened.
So in effect, even with dedicated melle armys, large chunks pf the game get spent in really dull combats where ypu trade like 2 wounds untill someone gets a bad leadership roll, who will probably just rally and be back fighting soon anyway, so it all feels a bit pointless.

Custodes were never meant to be the new humans. Marines were the sword, custodes were the shield, and the emperor would fight back the galaxy until humans became the new humans. Making his superhumans unable to propagate was always part of the plan, and the fact GW forgot or don't care sucks.

According to my bookmarks I was reading B&B years ago and there's only been one new chapter translated since. Absolute pain, I'd be willing to reread from the start if there were more.
And yeah the Wizardry Goblin Slayer was fun, much better than how Goblin Slayer gets as it keeps going. The not-Etrian Odyssey party showing up was funny.
Though now I'm checking and I guess there's two Wizardry Goblin Slayers and the one I read got discontinued and a new one got made? I guess that means more for me to read

Dem bitches removing our buffs and snitching our invisible Duskblade's position to other Zern blade thralls or whatever the fuck those things were.
Memes aside, the ways to protect against havign your shit dispelled are
>pumping your caster level
>the Spellblade enhancement
>Ring of counterspell
>Ring of spell-battle
Anything else?
What are the most cost effective options?
I also remember some discussion about the Spellblade enhancement only working once, which on one hand would make it pretty shit, but on another it's pretty cheap for what it does past a certain level, I think, so I have no idea.
Is this a settled matter of sorts or is there some contention still?
