Because the vast majority aren't technically fully sapient creatures with actual free will. They're more like hyper-complex AI, intelligent beings fully defined by one specific purpose and no ability to go against it.
Owl can be extremely powerful and "Want" to help the silent striders, but the things the silent striders need to survive are things Owl can't provide without violating the rules Owl operates by.
To make things more complicated, most spirits can't even comprehend that they're actually limited or that the things they can't do are good or necessary in any way. Owl may not be able to do the things the silent striders need, but Owl also can't understand how that's bad, because obviously the things Owl can't do/provide must bad bad/wrong in some way.
>>
>>97390717
99% of spirits are retarded because they're small & lack scope & understanding. They literally can comprehend things outside of their purview, & the other 1% are haughty assholes who are hide outdoors traditionalists

Gab probably has conditions that arent explained right away because thats petty as fuck his world screws over Kento in specific
might have to do with how Kurumi is in a similar place to Kento as one of Akina's friends and he's displaced by her presence in Fantasma.

I doubt they menstruate. Ordinary human women stop when they get buff and lean enough, and Custodes are massive fuck-you% bodyfat super-ultra-gigasoldiers. The better question is what they do about vaginal discharge if they're expected to be able to stand in one spot for a century at a time.

It’s also just unbecoming. Can you imagine a herd of Gors standing in front of the enemy and not charging? It would be a scandal.

>If maneuvering blocks of units to accomplish things in battle doesn’t sound like your cup of tea then maybe TOW is not for you.
I am familiar with core WFB concepts, making the game more defensively oriented and around chasing objective markers all over the map sounds 1. worse than normal wfb and 2. closer to the tourney-centric 40k nonsense that I want to stay away from.
>>
Watch them standardize all wfb terrain to be L shaped straw houses, castles and forests lel
>>
>>97390696
Infantry are more defensive now, and it’s a marked improvement vs pre faq where infantry was mostly so bad that comp lists didnt bother taking it outside a few armies and the necessary tax.
The objectives meanwhile simply add victory points for turns held. The core game has and continues to revolve around victory points, where you score by killing enemy units and a few other niche things (capturing banners for example). It’s definitely nothing close to 40k in terms of how stripped of flavor it is in favour of comp fags.

Previous Thread: >>97090196

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.
Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.

One hell of a crackhead or actual supernatural psycho, hard to tell.
>>
>>97383712
I've never heard of crack letting a man shrug off three rounds of .308 like it was a BB gun. I know it didn't deflect off the armor, when I was checking the corpse to make certain he was dead I found the holes, my bullets punched clean through his scrap armor.

He's dead now. Chopped the body up and put it in the furnace, full blast. My ancestor once dealt with a man who came back from a bloody mess, but burning the body to a crisp kept him from coming back for good. Not sure if this guy was the same but he's finished.

Wasn't using a handle earlier, will do so now for ease of identifying my posts.
>>
>>97383916
Whatever it was I'm sure nobody is gonna miss it. I always had a feeling some psychos could not be fully human. At least we know electricity and fire work.
>>
>>97385649
Yeah I'd reckon something changes when someone completely gives up that which makes them human. Though maybe it's some sort of magic only the depraved would practice.

The man my ancestor slew, Absalom Duquesne, apparently he had to bathe himself in blood once a month to maintain his life and regeneration. He liked to choke his victims out while singing amazing grace.
>>
>>97389233

Are tripods technology or living beings? If they're going to be in the "hyperborean critters" book, I imagine they have to be alive in some way, or at the very least maybe fully wild ones. Maybe things like the Combine from Half-Life, where the tripods used by the hyperboreans are weaponized and techified organic tripods?
>>
>>97387676
To me they resemble the 1906 versions, the ones with the big eyes, so that could make sense.
Alternatively, it could be entirely mechanical but still acting wild because the first layer is a weird place.

>>97387676
>Are tripods technology or living beings?

Alright, to start with the basics: how big a House are you envisioning? Is it a handful of dudes hiding in a shadowland somewhere or a proper dynasty ruling over their own kingdom?

As for Aspect, it might be good to not have them strongly favor any single Aspect. That'd be the most versatile option, at least, and it'd give you a chance to figure out how all the elements might look with some Underworld influence in them. If you prefer a single-Aspect House, though, I think Wood might be neat due to the contrast between the element most closely associated with life and with the House's obvious association with death. In practice, maybe a spiritually oriented House that takes a broad view on the natural cycles of birth, life and death, seeing unlife as a part of it, as a part that must at some point end and give way to the next phase, but one that's completely fine in itself? Alternatively, and as a more ambitious goal, the House might be attempting to bring life to the Underworld - working on creating plants and animals that can live, grow and procreate there, with the ultimate goal of making the Underworld as a whole less an unnatural aberration and more just a part of the world.

Mechanically I assume these guys are still plain old Dragon-Blooded, with DB Charms and some Ghost-Blooded tricks in addition to that, but it might be cool to throw in a couple of House-specific Charms reflecting their unique heritage. No specific ideas on that right at the moment, though.

What about the House's origin, beyond them having had plenty of Underworld-aspected people before they started fucking ghosts? Maybe it could be a House that sought refuge in the Underworld during either the Usurpation or the Balorian Crusade and started mixing with ghosts at that time. A First Age Solar-loyalist gens that retreated to the Underworld when it became clear that their side was losing could be interesting.

Comment getting too long, so I'll leave it at this for now.

I don't want to sound retarded, but I'm having trouble getting this, I don't know if it's the wording or something. Can someone explain how this works in other terms?
>>
>>97390485
Two of same means you actually get doubles on the next lower result. So two effects of double 9s means you get double 8s. If you have two different doubles effects, such as 8 or 9, you only use the lower number because it's better.
>>
>>97390608
I was under the impression that anything from 7 to 9 is a success anyway, are lower rolls always better?
>>
Wait, maybe I'm getting it now. So some effects make you take double success on some numbers, and if you have multiples of the same you go down, but every number above that is also doubled. I was thinking only the specified number would be doubled.

Depends on the weapon. It will potentially kill the user before penetrating the armor.
I really wish the rules regarding BA and small arms were a lot easier to follow. Mean holy fuck A Time Of War makes it seem so needlessly complicated.

Destiny doesn't have any integration, it has its own system for mech combat with simplified mechanics like only having one combined torso location and bundling weapons together into groups that roll and hit together.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!

>Do you draw boundaries in your setting for different types of games, different cultural and ecological biomes of sorts with a different selection of races, or even classes?

I'm using ages for that, with tech levels and avaible races depending on which age the game is set. All of them take place on the same continent, just at different spots in the timeline.

depending on their power and how easy it is to become a mage, their existence could seriously threaten the monopoly of power by any rulership class.

Like if you're not careful any exploited/discriminated group could produce an indivdiual capable of taking down a nation.
>>97375909
honestly depending on the setting the power dynamic between those two is so great, that any relationship forming would have to avoid really hard to not become fucked up.

Like imagine a relationship with someone who can just rewrite your personality with a thought.
