Kingdom Death is a tabletop miniature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

Each of the bosses is, more or less, a tiny fragment of the demiurge. When they enter the campaign they begin influencing reality around them. The Knight existing in potentia makes everything slightly more Knightly even before he appears.
Besides, stone age knights jousting on war-ostriches with bone armor is sick as fuck. Which should already be enough to recommend it.

That's the point, it's a fucking book. You read the book and you can play the game in the words of the book. Do you complain about your new video game not working when the console isn't plugged into the wall? Or isn't connected to a screen?

Considering there are people who insist on playing board games like Risk and Monopoly without reading the rules by “learning as we play” and then get angry when they don’t understand how to play the game, OP might be one of those people
>>
>>97245745
There are barely even any rules in the dmg. It's mostly (bad) (non)advice and lists of things.
>>
>>97245838
I would cut OP some slack if he were talking about the way some books are poorly laid out and all the rules you need end up haphazardly sprinkled throughout the entire book with no quick ref and poor formatting so it's a pain in the ass to find the rules when you need them. But that's not what this is about. It's about OP being a dumb faggot who is intimidated by middle school-level writing for the games he claims he wants to play.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: How often do you use an official GURPS setting? Which are your favorites?

Two quick:
1) how to account for certain factions being better at certain subjects? E.g. the science guys are usually good at engineering or hacking, so they should be able to e.g. purchase the exact same hacking skill at a cheaper point cost. Is it a good system?
2) Is there any system that splits between:
Actual HP - represents actual damage, heals as long as it needs to
Long HP - stun points, but takes days or week sto regenerate
Short HP - stun points, but takes minutes or hours to regenerate

I'm the most excited for gender neutral pronouns throughout. A lot of my friends were put off by the book using gendered language like "his" and "she," and they're all SUPER excited for this very forward-thinking and progressive change.
>>
>>97246668
My girlfriend is trans and it's going to be refreshing to know i will no longer have to explain to her whenever there's something offensive on GURPS it is due to the age of the book, and the backwards mentality of people at the time.

I don't know much about legends but I downloaded a mod for star sector that adds the empire, republic, cis, etc. and them to the game and the chiss are just glassing the fuck out of every planet of their enemies. Depends on what you mean by "mattering", at a certain point all creatures are basically guaranteed to hit with their first to-hit, and if fighting themselves cannot fail to hit themselves except on a 1.

For creatures with iteratives on their attacks, this means the "mattering" starts happening in full attacks, where the -5 keeps stacking up and making later attacks consecutively less likely to hit. The assumption behind this is due to HP being inflated, so the devs wanted to ensure that especially at later levels if you only got one hit off you'd at least be able to make some progress via HP lowering.
>>
>>97246940
That you threefive?

As your vid about Nature's Warrior was it? said most natural weapon secondaries are treated as offhands rather than iterative, for almost no attack penalty.
>>
>>97246940
>at a certain point all creatures are basically guaranteed to hit with their first to-hit
And around which level is that point?
Is there a spreadsheet showing the relation between average AB / CR somewhere?
>>
>>97247078
Not sure who that is, I'm a holdover from the Pathfinder 1e merge from the last thread, but both systems are roughly the same I'd say in terms of how the math works out.

>>97247086
If I had to go off of my gut, I think for most campaigns and creatures the "switch" happens somewhere around level 12.

I see.
I'll try and locate some resources about that, and if I can't find any, I might just craft something of my own.
Maybe something listing min/avg/max AB,AC, Saves, and SR by CR based on the monster manual.

After about 8 years since I last DM'ed a game, I've been asked to run a session.
Unfortunately my books - adnd, 2e, 3e, 3.5, 4e, and 5e are in storage two states away.
And i prefer physical copies. Thanks to critical role and the movie DND books have gone up in price which is weird.
>4e books are ~10-15$ now.

Is it viable to run 4e in 2025? I don't remember hating it and I still remember some home rules to streamline combat to speed it up a touch.
Does anyone have suggestions for 1-3lvl adventures or campaign settings?

The Rules Compendium is a better purchase than the Heroes of books. It came out a few months after the first Essentials books and its literally just all the rules and charts from the PHBs all errata'd up.

Still suffers from being an Essentials book so it's smaller with larger print than the original books and so its not particularly page efficient. God I hate how Essentials fucked up book size and formatting.
>>
>>97237057
Op here, I like that this glazes over the mentions of WoW or that I already said how old everyone is.
> for quick maths bg3 opens up 5 years ago. If you were 13- 16 then, now you are 16-21.
Time does not slow for us, grognards. Soon we will be like the adnd and 2e greybeards. Shaking old stat blocks at whipper snappers and discussing days gone by when gygax still ruled gen con.
>>
>>97235255
4e is still very viable. Dear fuck there are so many races, classes, backgrounds, themes, feats, paragon paths and epic destinies to keep players tweaking character ideas for years as well as mountains of lore tidbits and setting ideas to run campaigns for just as long.
>>
>>97247015
The lore is interesting stuff and I wish the compendiums had it. Even if someone doesn't want the print books its worth hunting down the pdfs just to read all the fluff since running only builder and compendium feels really dry.

I think some of my favorite D&D stuff in general was the race write ups from the Dragon Magazines.

Well technically, they already had...
See, the first time the /qst/goers pussied out on going full Chaos, the QM decided to Morton's Fork it as a subplot; Rhea and Namara were split between their "purer" Human sides and their corruption, creating Daemonic doppelgangers.
Daemon Rhea menaced "Human" Rhea, I think she was thinking her human half still had some crucial secret or something, until they made nice and Daemon Rhea became Daemon Princess of her own little realm.

Daemon Namara grew a third arm, and that's about as far as I got.

>I have been on these sorts of “adventures” more times than I count, so I know this is the part where I have to run away from opponents I have no hope of outrunning
>Hopefully Lord Spencer actually has some sort of plan for defeating the daemonettes and is just trying to get me out of the crossfire, because if he threw me so he can make a hopeless last stand, or to aid in his own escape, then those daemonettes are going to catch up to me in no time
>I run full tilt towards the nearest tunnel entrance anyways, because hey, why not? It has worked a few times in the past
>The poorly fitting high heel boots and the wrapping paper I shoved in my mouth don’t help matters, nor does the fact that the drugs in my system are still making try to narrate my thoughts, even if they just sound like muffled grunts
>I make it to the tunnel entrance I was heading towards, pray to any Gods listening that my pursuers didn’t see me entering, then start running down the long, narrow corridor
>I come skidding to a stop as I turn a corner and see a truly bizarre sight
>Two femininely slender Necron Warriors, with perfectly rounded metal “breasts” the size of volley balls, trying to “kiss” their face plates together, but their “breasts” keep getting in the way
>No idea what is going on in there, but I want no part in it
>I was tired of running anyways
>I open the nearest door and am assaulted by an extremely unpleasant combination of sights, smells, and sounds

>It looks like this room was once a lavatory for the voidship that makes up this section of the Space Hulk, and then has been used as a lavatory again by Orks for at least a few weeks despite the fact that any sort of functional plumbing is long gone, yet is now being used as an orgy room by some low ranking Slaaneshi cultists taking a break from watching the Blood Bowl game, plus one confused looking Gretchin walking into an open stall
>It looks like there is only one way in and out of this room, and I am too afraid to go back out into the corridor
>But the cultists are ignoring me, and the smells of the room might actually be enough to prevent the daemonettes from tracking me, assuming they track by scent on are not locked on to the flavor of my soul or something
>I enter the only stall with a door, and lock it behind me
>Inside is a garbage can absolutely overflowing with Greenskin dung and urine, but it at least has a lid
>I get up onto the lid and stand on it for a bit of extra protection against a lazy searcher who tries to look under the door instead of breaking it open
>I catch my breath, try to think of a plan, but nothing comes to me, so I decide just to stand here for as many hours as it takes for all my potential searchers to give up
>What have you gotten yourself into this time Priscilla?

>i swear she smirks as she leans in probably to brag about how she's just going to follow Priscilla's soul send while her remaining minions have fun using my small intestine as condoms or balloons or something

>take the small tag i saved for this moment
>when the kid had fallen into that present out of nowhere i figured it wouldn't hurt to at least inspect the tag

Out on Patrol Edition

>What is this?
/TG/ DEVELOPED A GAME
IT IS PLAYABLE. IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.
EXPEDITION is a ~1880s era, Jules Verne-inspired retro-futurist, underground blood soaked adventurescape.
It is a Skirmish wargame. Two players with their own expeditions, on a hexgrid map, explore & fight each other for victory and profit.

3 versions of the rules exist, 2 of which have been playtested. The main one is 2e, to be found :
as with maps, tokens and lore resources.

Have a holiday Revenant. This one is a test unit to see how assembly and painting works for something like this. I drilled a hole in the mouth to make a rictus howl and melted the face down with acetone, once it sets it should hopefully look mask-like. After that I'll need to firm up the crest and maybe add something on the back if I feel like it.

For some reason, this piece fits so well in the setting, but I have no idea what it could be exactly...
>>
I've added the updated version of the neomughal.
Changes are

>Words of Wisdom trait
Clarified that the roll needed is leadership.

>Maharata
Reduced LD to 4 and its special action needing 2LD

>Ascetic
Reduced its cost to 10. It barely does anything.

>Lemurian Sharpshooter
Modified "Seventhfold Sharpshooter": Secretly note down an Enemy or Hostile model, a hex and publicly note an upcoming turn. If at any point in the noted turn the noted model enters the noted Hex, interrupt its activation, and the “Lemurian Sharpshooter” resolves as many ranged shots as it has available (if it has 4
shots, do 4 attacks; if it has 2 shots, do 2 attacks; if it has to reload, nothing happens). The “lemurian sharpshooter” still needs to be within its range to do so.
