>how do the chorf play
In theory, GW designed them to be a very balanced combined arms force where you can allocate your special points to power up whatever you want to be better that round. In reality, most of the force is incredibly underwhelming, it's not that whatever you give points to will be crazy good, it's that whatever you give points to will be not shit. The bull machine is not amazing and despite being very machine focused in the lore, the bull centaurs are the most meta relevant unit. Rules and points could be changed obviously but it's kind of a bad feel if you get bait and switched into the faction thinking your machines are going to be doing the heavy lifting when they most likely won't. Can't speak to the spearhead specifically, but it looks fine for what it is. a ten block of chaff, a leader, a medium sized monster and a ranged unit is pretty par for the course of what spearhead boxes give you.
>is there something you would reccomend instead
if you love chorfs and are all in on the aesthetic you should get them, but if your unsure and other factions interest you, you should consider trying to find different spearhead on discount. You'll save some money and if you decide you like that other faction, there will be more units to get and expand to a full army. Chorfs basically just have those units +centaurs and hobgrots, and hobgrots are total shit as you can't even assign the special poitns to them and make them worth anything.
>>
Did a lil painting, gonna call it a lil early. Thank you aosg very cool.
>>
>>97257244
I've heard the chorf spearhead is actually pretty weak, and so is the whole army in general. Bull centaurs fuck shit up though.

Both FEC Spearheads are so good, I can't complain
I haven't assembled either, but damn they look cool
>>
>>97257814
I thought the new one was kind of dull since it has 2 sets of the ancient horror kits and a warcry warband which is always a bit fiddly. But to be fair they put basically the entire 3rd edition release wave in the first spearhead so it's not like they had a lot of choice.

I have wanted to play RPGs for years and posted on /tg/ for like a decade, but have never found someone to play with. Finally my kids are old enough to play with me, but the problem is, I don't know HOW to play. Like, what is a game supposed to even look like?
All the rulebooks I've read go over in depth the character creation and mechanics, etc. but none really paint a picture of the structure and flow of the game and what it is supposed to look like.

Where do I start??

Lower ordinal being better is very common place in English
1st place better than 2nd in competitions
1st class superior to 2nd in mail and travel
1st rate ships bigger and better armed than 2nd
pH 1 more acidic than pH 2
pH -1 is slightly more get that crap the fuck away from me than pH 0
Apparent magnitude −26.832 brighter than −12.74
Even before the Cold War was nominally over 3rd world was misconstrued to mean low standard of living and not just not aligned with Easter or Western bloc

>Pros: ascending AC
So with lower better being common place, are you making that claim solely on the basis of brainlets and
>hurr... subtracting negative is hard
or is there some actual reason ascending AC is better?
>>
>>97249229
>I don't know HOW to play. Like, what is a game supposed to even look like?
You start with a single scene, go through it like you where reading a book or playing a game, if a conflict comes up resolve it using the games rules that will usually involve rolling dice in some capacity. Maybe look into a rules light game where "rules as written" aren't such a big priority, consider one page games which will be easy to learn and teach your group one such game I like is "fudge in a nutshell" see: https://files.catbox.moe/p8ch99.pdf
>>
>>97255650
It's a matter of resolution mechanics unification. Old d&d was sort of all over the place in this regard and can be a little confusing for people approaching for the first time. And i say that as a guy that was initiated with a becmi starter set, it's not a deal breaker and takes a moment to be figured out but given the choice why would you pick something, even if slightly, more convoluted?

It's genuinely hilarious that this is a legitimately far better designed game than monopoly, since there's alternate win conditions and lose conditions. Like collecting three indulgences becoming free of sin or being shot and killed by the rat mafia for being in debt to them
>>
Why do they make so many different versions?
>>
>>97257355
More to sell. You can sell the University of Washington monopoly in the same campus bookstore that also sells Seattleopoly. People love this shit for gifts. It costs almost nothing for a different version since it's mostly just a few small changes to the board .
>>
I don't. :-)
>>
I got roped into playing a version that was supposed to be shorter and faster and made sure to follow the rules to the letter so no house rule bullshit that extends the game. It still took nearly 4 hours to finish and ~2 hours of that I didn't even get to do anything since I was out of the game by that point.

looks decent. I think you've gone a bit "non-metallic metal" on the legs with multiple shadow areas, and your brightest spots being down there rather than on top of the marine. it's not clear where your light source is intended to be. but the main purpose is to communicate shape and scale and you're doing that. volumetrics don't have to be precise to work.

How do you justify a "pest race" like goblins or rat people in your setting? Why wouldn't the dominant species make a concentrated effort to eradicate them if they were a problem?

>>97215302
What if it's more a spectrum and a product of the very short life spans of goblins. If a goblin settlement is stable for long enough they start to build a functional culture and some social experience that allows them to peacefully interact with human settlements, but if the settlement is consistently blown to pieces they go feral. For example, if only a few goblin children are left after a major culling, they grow and breed very quickly without any respect for the cost of offspring. They would have no agricultural skills, no hunting skills, no shelter, no resources to trade with, and no elders or experience to teach them otherwise, so they start raiding farms for chickens and loving in barns and caves. Raiding ends up being the successful means of providing, so you catch bad attention, get obliterated and restart the cycle. Alternatively, a stable village figures out growing crops, teaches children to trade or work in the nearby town, people come to begrudgingly respect the little fuckers, they get help maintaining their little village from the local humans, and even though they only live fifteen years there's continuity of culture and experience. Controlling goblins ends up being either a process of aggressive extermination or improving their lot enough that they realize farming is better than being exterminated (and providing them with condoms). You end up with goblin public health specialists that are overall more economical than equipping a goblin task force.
>>
>>97231892
Could be the same business as killing coyotes too, lotta people just don't feel comfortable killing something like a dog, lotta people don't have a gun and the right experience to safely deal with a coyote. Could be the same for goblins, some people would do it, but others would get the ick because it feels like killing kids, most people wouldn't feel safe confronting the two goblins in the trash can.
>>
>>97213989
>ANOTHER thread where OP isn't pretending to post about his fetish

>>97256680
But goblin raiders have no reason not to raid other goblins, or in the presence of other goblins
This really only vouches for the effectiveness of relocation as an ideal method of genocide. If you never fully "corner the rat" you can keep them all close together
>>
>>97213989
The goblins in my setting can breed faster than you can put them down.
They also don't respect species barriers, any cum can get them pregnant and they're all female.
Moreover a goblin measures her worth as a goblin by how many daughters she births, hoping to birth enough that she can start her own tribe.
And why yes, they do kidnap human males as breeding studs, and feed them herbs that boost the production of nut butter and rape them until they knock up the whole tribe then set them free.
It is strictly illegal, but many villages even trade young, strong, healthy boys to the goblins for a set period of time in exchange for a lack of harassment.

>!Why yes, this is my poorly disguised fetish. How could you tell?!<

The competitive mindset and PUG culture feed in to this. It's one thing to spend time thrashing out your ideas with some friends over time, but when your gaming circle is "dudes at the shop/tournament" whose only concern is really their win/loss record, you're never going to get any traction.

You mean of the "Legacy" factions?
I think most likely will be Shreks. They've been piddling out of Sigmar for a while and I can see them just disappearing and going all back to Old World (I still think GW's current stance against cross-system play is fucking stupid)

Next Delfs. GW needs to shit or get off the pot with Malekith's godhood and his Shadow Elves in Sigmar. Do something, come out with new models and squat the old Delf models from the Cities line and bring them all back to TOW.

Daemon of Chaos very likely, but only once GW moves the story forward and gets to Asavar Kul's invasion.

Rats would be easiest to do since even their new models are small enough to rank up on 25s, but since they're being used as the big bads for the current edition of AOS, GW won't relinquish them.

Lizards would also be more difficult, all the big monsters haven't been updated but the new Saurus don't rank up very well, though it is possible to get them going. And NuSlann would need new bases that could fit in ranks.
But since they're still a major faction in AOS, very unlikely.

New Chorfs rank up better than I thought, but again, extremely unlikely as GW doesn't want cross-play.

2e is a better game than 1e. Goes for more cinematic mechanics than simulationist which fits the theme given it is all about building your character's story and legend to godhood. Pick 1e, 2e, whatever homebrew lore you want since the mechanics can accommodate within reason.

Key facts from my setting:

>elves are interplanetary, but precede humans because humans are the aspeciated offspring of elf/dwarf interbreeding
>elves created their own homeland, a floating island of concentric rings
>elves fight over the crown, two factions arise, red star and white star
>red star views themselves as godlike rulers of all the world and pronounce the god-king, seeking to impose order and stability on the land and declare the Final Empire
>white star just want to fuck and chill out in gardens eating fruit but will fight to ensure the existence of their people and a future for horny vegan children
>the white stars lose the island and have to hire human wizards because they view the War of Red Agression as their fault
>Island is yeeted into the shadow realm (actually the realm of spirit and mind with all the red star elves on it)
>God King becomes a twisted demon, the man in between, seeking to penetrate reality
>White Star Elf leaders gather to fight him
>Their fight becomes a debate in the shadow realm

Genuine question, there’s no real answer to it, mostly looking for opinions for the sake of narrative flavour for my game. What is the connection between Cegorach and the Deceiver? Are they the same being, somehow? Are they connected? Is Cegorach just the Deceiver’s longest ever deception, or is the Deceiver Cegorach’s biggest joke? Or have one of them pretended to be the other, on occasion?

It's about as busted as being a Machine Trait Admech with a bunch if Unnatural Attributes in FFG

Nothing wrong with a bit of broken power gaming. Something I was pretty disappointed in is that they didn't take the time to make gear more... bespoke(?) In the Requisition Guide. They did that in the 4e Warhammer Fantasy books, the item traits & stuff are VERY heavy handed. Like how shields can be destroyed in one blow & not even having the durability trait can save it completely. This means shields are pretty shit to invest it
>>
>>97257162
The bitter internecine conflict between different GW departments would never allow it. They forbid making tzaangors in TW Warhammer to have bird heads because they have bird heads in AoS, for example. They are refusing to update stuff in Old World that was expanded on in AoS. Vespids got relegated to killteam, and so on. Pretty much the only thing that's used between the difference GW games are the daemon models, the rest is highly insular

It's moreso about how some negative qualities are nothingburgers. If you're not the face then ugly nets you a free positive quality, and shoddy doesn't mechanically affect certain types of gear, classic C7. I typically equip every starting character with flak armour that I've stacked 2 nega qualities on to be able to afford.
