Is the local prince or baron aware of your existence? Have you been introduced to them? If not, that's probably something you should do sooner rather than later. They may even know what happened to your sire.
>>

That would've been for me. I'm still doubtful I'll manage to figure it out and have a few locals I've been in talks with about it. Who knows though.
>>96909361
Most people I know don't actually share their Clans with others unless they're close or a specific Discipline is needed for something. Other than that, Brujah. They seem to come in the widest assortment of types due to their Embracing practices (not a lack of them, just a wider pool). Just pretend to have strong opinions about politics from your Kine days and nobody will bat an eye.

Some of those people "memeing" it are, like you know, the people who actually fucking designed the game.

And what exactly makes it like WoW? Some quotes being wishywashy of "Yeah the higher ups said WoW and we learned some lessons from it" isn't explaining how it's like WoW at all.

No that's 3E. Looked at Fallout and Everquest.
>>
>>96909452
Then that turned in to 3.5 based video game. Which are all hyper garbage. Which then created the one combat adventure day cause that's the only way you can design the system in video game form. Which is probably a lot of people's first exposure to DnD.
>>
>>96909452
It also had a set of Diablo and WoW supplements for it too.

Yes, it's pretty reasonable for them to have a +1 weapon or focus. +1 shields, cloaks of protection, wands of magic missiles, etc are pretty solid choices. Others kinda depend by class/role.
>>
>>96906151
Wand of Magic Missiles.
It's 3d4+3 force damage with perfect accuracy at 120', 6 times per day.
It's a nice sidearm to have for a melee character.
>>
>>96909122
Are they starting with the items? Let them pick about 1 uncommon item each.
If it's an one-shot, you may do what I did: Randomly roll an item per player as a pool for the entire group, then let them figure out who wants what and how they'll use it. You may want to reroll if it's inappropriate (I kept getting items with necrotic resistance when I knew there won't be any necrotic damage), but don't tailor-made it for them.
>>

Do you think the Imperium let the Guard have access to sex servitors like how old European navies let their sailors have sex dolls or Dutch Wives on their ships?

Is that too big a luxury for a shitty guardsman? Or is this exactly the "a bullet costs more than a human life" kind of scenario where a decraniated man or woman being a lovedoll is enough of a tiny morale boost that the Imperium rubbestamps the cost?

The Imperium literally doesn't give a fuck about local laws or literally almost anything the rulers of a planet do as long as they worship the Emperor within whatever vague guidelines are acceptable by whatever branch of the church rules their sector, pays the tithe, and surprises their local psyker and unacceptable mutant population. Nothing the rulers do to their people is 'illegal' they can just snatch women off the streets if they want too, no need for false accusations. Their word is law as long as they do the bare minimum requirements

I feel like its extremely obvious that knights of the realm, pegasus knights and men at arms wont get an update this edition as they are models in the core starter sets that they still currently sell. Same goes for the various ancient tomb kings skeleton units. Its easy to just stop producing the old marauder kit and let it sell out but dropping the editions starter sets mid edition seems ludicrously unlikely.
I think it is possible that grail/questing knights get a refresh but realistically I think its unlikely well get much in the way of bretonnia until next edition, and even then its not like theyll be in the starter so I wouldnt be hoping for much soon.

My absolute pipe dream I wish would be true but doubt it will be - next editions starter is a refresh box that includes new empire state troops and knights vs orc and goblin refresh. I feel like that would actually sell well with new sculpts and be very good for the popularity and health of the game (everyone loves to face orcs or empire).

I would say it would seem to make sense to out chaos in a starter set at some point but given the new marauders are a big new release and I really doubt warriors and knights will get a resculpt I just dont see what they would put in it as "new models" that would be a draw for the set.

This is all assuming they actually are planning on large amounts of new model releases in the future, I mean sure warcry used to get a new plastic box of different themed naked guys with shivs every few months that no one bought but old world or lotr getting regular new plastics? God forbid.
>>
>>96909112
>lotr
I mean i say this respectfully, but who is still playing that? The movie bombed and I dont think anyone actually likes the crossover models of rohan or whatever
>>
>>96909159
Honestly I dropped it and I know a few others who were longtime players who did as well. Used to have a really healthy community with new players joining and large regular events. Its not dead in my area at all but it definitely doesnt feel like its growing.

The new editions core rules are fantastic, it basically covers all the complaints everyone had of the previous edition but unfortunately the switch to only using legendary legions for army lists is god awful, they basically have killed any listbuilding and are terribly balanced, some are absurdly powerful and others are just garbage. It really is amazing that someone can design them so poorly, the imbalance is so obvious.

Moreso the problem with it is that its obvious GW just has it on life support and is basically just trickling in the absolute bare minimum of new sculpts to keep it afloat while releasing new plastic kits for a half dozen random specialist games that all die and are discontinued within a year or two of being released.

People will keep playing lotr just as they did for the decade or so where it was basically not supported at all after the hobbit movies but I cant see it going anywhere dynamic anytime soon.
>>
>>96908966
Sounds dumb, why would they feel jealous if it's ultimately still making them money? unless the budgets are split relative to the department's sales just like the current retardation going on tearing apart the 40k and hh ranges and the aos and tow ranges
>>
>>96909307
They thought the idea of making a book that was just rules without one of their stupid little story campaigns would flop and let the US team do it because it'd be a small project that wouldn't amount to anything like a White Dwarf compilation. Once it started selling out every run they got mad because they thought British should be in charge of main Warhammer rules.

Typical British ego. My brother had worked a retail job at GW around the same time so he and the guy were commiserating how the Brits would make absolutely retarded business decisions and refuse to take advice from Americans about doing business in Amercia. Like the first West Coast GW store being in an outlet mall over 40 minutes away from Seattle because "they got such a good deal on rent". Or the entire reason they switched to the "store run by a single manager who has to close during lunch" model is because they did the same thing in Japan where stores have apartments on the second floor and somehow thought it would work in American strip malls.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first decade, Gygaxian D&D, its more faithful modern clones, and content created specifically for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended and taught by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread, feel free to check them out for answers:

>I'm going to choose to believe that AI backgrounds are an intentional choice to portray how each Klakon ship is hand-made and weird, not just out of laziness.

I'm conflicted about the AI backgrounds.

I cannot, in all honesty, blame Arioch for using them, because I am one of those who bitched endlessly and publicly about Outsider's glacial update rate. I encouraged him to stop spending so much time 3D-modelling the backgrounds (and really, that shuttle was ridiculous - he took a two-year hiatus to build it to the last vertex then the cast spend more than half of Chapter Two in a completely featureless storage closet where all that detail was completely superfluous and wasted effort) and look at more efficient methods at cranking out pages. If Arioch is doing it via AI then he's only doing what we told him to do and we have to take some of the responsibility there.

That said, the AI still looks like ass... and it hasn't actually sped up the update rate in the slightest, has it?
>>
>>96909261
>I cannot, in all honesty, blame Arioch for using them
I can, because his update rate is still abysmal, so it's just a decrease in quality for no actual benefit.

Getting away from game systems and pieces for a moment, how do you prevent a gamestore from becoming a free childcare service, while still remaining open and amicable with the public?

The case I go back to are the GW Battle Bunkers. The one in Memphis I was familiar with really sold me on the hobby, walking in and seeing 20+ full art, prepped tables and getting to observe games as a youngster was a wonderful experience, but the sheer amount of unattended children and teens was the given as the reason for the closing of the game room (outside of special events, though I believe they're just gone-gone now, correct me if I'm wrong). When I've returned to the Battle Bunker stores recently, they've been sterile, dark, empty, like you walked into a small town's only munition shop. I can't imagine this facilitating the sale of starter boxes or generating referral traffic, though obviously these larger distributor warehouses don't really care about direct sales too too much.

So that brings up your LGS. What staff training, procedures, and store policies can really protect a store from becoming an irresponsible parent drop off, while still protecting these entry-level childhood experiences that attach kids to these hobbies and these open, high quality gaming spaces to responsible players? I don't see many of these these days, they're either holes in the wall with one 4x4 table and two blanchard tables for Magic, or they're really low quality, wide open cheap strip mall joints with rows and rows of folding tables and no quality art pieces, terrain, or table builds. How could this be fixed adequately?

>>
>>96906785
Still too much trouble and that is taking on a heap of legal liability. And what do you do then when a parent can't come and grab their kid right away? Your employees are going to be 20-something nerds who just want to talk about comics and card games all day. They aren't fit to watch someone's kids.
>>
>>96900083
Anyone under 14 requires supervision. Doesn't have to be the parents if it's some kiddos learning the game from friendly locals or their siblings or whatever but someone has to be responsible for them.
>>
>>96900083
If you have a healthy grog community they will naturally filter out kids by being grogs unless said kids are in groups stewarded by adults who will bring kids into the hobby in a managed way.
Then you just have to deal with banning the occasional shithead

look at the right side. Before any supports started, the base plate already pulled apart, but your base layers stayed stuck to the buildplate.

That means, your burn in layers are fine, and stuff went wrong before supports were an issue, so it would be your normal layer settings.
I would add 1 to 2 seconds of wait before cure, lower lift speed if that does not work or add a bit more cure time.

>>96907821
Temp could also be the issue, but you can see that stuff went wrong before the supports started.
Issues can cascade, so you need to start fixing from the first one happening, because it could be the supports just failed because of the torn off layers and would have been fine else.

I'm a leaf living in a basement apartment, so I have a grow booth, carbon filter, and inline fan set up to ventilate my workshop. The thermostat is connected to a space heater inside that was set to keep the interior of the booth between 23C and 25C. I've increased it to 24-26 since then because I also thought that maybe it got too cold last night, and I moved the thermostat probe closer to the vat to get a more accurate reading of the ambient temp near the resin.

I do not recommend printing large vehicles in resin unless they are in many smaller parts
The warping gets crazy

Yeah, that seems to be the case. I have a few different stls for this model. This one was the one broken up into the smallest pieces, but I guess i just have to cut it in half or something. I I want to get an fdm printer eventually, but Im currently saving up for PAX next year, so I dont really want to until I get back.

Is there even a way to do romance with an NPC without it being cringe as fuck?
In my experience, it worked fine between players, but every attempt to do that with an NPC was dropped pretty fast.

judging by the top surgery scars, yes, that is not the worst of their issues.

The NPC needs to continue being a character, which means having goals, desires, and conflicts that exist outside of their paramour - and sometimes conflicts WITH their paramour. Some players aren’t necessarily going to handle that well and might accuse you of “punishing” them by having their lover not like their behavior. But fuckpuppets aren’t romance.

No. There is not.

For some reason, with several different DMs, they keep throwing NPC women at my characters. Not in a subtle "The barmaid gives you a slight wink as she fills the table's pitcher" manner but whole "This lady is your fiance now and also she's a princess so you can't say no" or "the villainess you decided to spare casts a curse that ties your souls together and says that she's now your responsibility forever" shit.

It's gotten pretty wild. I almost think it's like some sort of secret wager or bounty to see who can get an NPC to fade-to-black one of my characters, and every time I have to act like the protagonist in a sudden-girlfriend-appearance anime where I have to be annoyed by the beautiful women throwing themselves at me, and all just because I want to avoid the cringe-inducing romance bullshit.

Once, I intervened in a battle between a red dragon and an amethyst dragon, and somehow ended up with both transforming into human women, and declaring that I had to marry both of them so I can resolve any future disputes they might have. After the game I asked my DM what kind of ridiculous forced romance was that, and she said that she noticed I was really bad at picking up hints so she thought she really had to make the potential romance obvious.

It's pretty insulting to think that someone is that dense, and I told her as such. The very next week, I find a mermaid in a well and after rescuing her she says she has to marry whoever saved her.

Some people just can't learn a lesson, no matter how direct you are with them.

This. If it's anything else besides a sweet subplot to humanize, you're just playing into a masturbatory fantasy and automatically a weirdo.

Also, that op pic is cursed.

Sounds plausible, actually.
