Love Peter Jackson portrayal, although I think he goes a little to heavy on the armor at times. Dragon's Dogma had a nice interpretation of them, clearly visually inspired by LotR films.

>>97372937
WoD's portrayal of the old Orcs was fun, but also demonstrates one of the problems with changing Orcs from a classic monster race to one that's capable of making moral choices. Cause if you do that an then try to keep all the fun barbarian raider orc tropes, you end up with something far far more problematic than just sticking to the classic always evil monsters. So yeah, kind of fun, but Orcs have been a mess since, I dunno, TBC.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!

complex forests dont exist b cos they are just made of trees and sometimes rocks
>>
>Urban Fantasy setting
>Post Apocalyptic War between modern scientific civilization and the Dark Lord's ancient empire
>Single superpower that won the War reigned dominant for nearly two centuries, now decaying due to psychotic power struggles between the camps of populist strongmen and everyone else
>Everyone knows this is the best chance to make a move, nobody wants to be the first
>Mutually Assured Destruction inevitable due to orbital laser arrays, ICBMs, AI drone swarms on the science side and dragons on the magic side

Since nobody can officially make War anymore, but everyone has both means and motive to do so, the world is torn apart by non-stop genocides and terrorist acts done by so-called non state actors that are being funded and sometimes controlled by one of the many states.

The dishonesty and secrecy is honestly more chaotic than actual war.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: what's the best classic GURPS cover art?

Depends on the DM. Some DMs have NPCs act appropiately to your characters appearance, (fear, negotiation, falling back and getting re-inforcements, surrender, hiding and avoidance, etc) while some DMs take the Fallout route, having two unarmoured 1st level mooks armed with sticks trying to take on your huge heavily armed and armoured character and escorting retinue, because the stupid module they are running says so.

I've found from the grapevine that Jes Goodwin is soon to retire from Games Workshop

He really is the king. His concept sketches and absolutely timeless work on mk7 Space Marines and the Eldar particularly are worthy of the highest praise.

His influence will be sorely missed, though with how miniatures are often 3+ years in the pipeline before being seen on shelves, his legacy will continue.

>Isn't Mark 10 visually nearly the same thing as Mk 4 'Maximus' armour
Mark 10 copied the grille pattern from Mark 4 but the 10's face is completely flat (flatter than any armour mark) while the Mark 4 has a very distinctive "snout" that IIRC is only beaten by Mark 6's beak, which gives it a very different appearance to the Mark 10. I can see where the confusion comes from though, those Imperial Armour front profile views that you see all over the place don't capture the 3D-ness of the Mark 4 very well and make it look more similar to the Mark 10 than it actually is.

Greater Demons can only possess champions, regular chaos marines can be possessed by lesser demons. But you still need proper marks of chaos the keep them on table.
>>
>>97390859
I think normal marines can't be posessed only the special ones who bear the mark. Like plague marines
>>
>>97390886
Yes, that's right, but you still need unpossessed chaos space marines with same marks to keep the demons on table. Very expensive way to get to play demons, I don't recommend it. Just take banner that adds summoning points instead.

Aaron Dembski-Bowden, once merely an everyday beanie wearing cuckold with an unhealthy interest in Amazonian black female tennis stars, but now GW Head of Narrative by simple virtue of managing to cling to the company until everyone more talented left, retired, or was sacked. This has been his personal thing literally since he was just some shlub arguing with people on the B&C forums about his first BL book, GW just now has sufficient critical mass of wokies and so few of the original creatives these faggots leech from that he can get his own way.

I love that
>If transferring the fetus from a woman's womb to an artificial uterus is possible, the choice to terminate a pregnancy in this way could provide an alternative to aborting the fetus
is being presented as some kind of knotty ethical dilemma.

Like I support abortion rights even though I'm less keen on the ethics of it because I believe in bodily autonomy, but how can providing an alternative that wouldn't require terminating a pregnancy be a bad thing? A suspicious person might think women are simply horrified at the notion parental rights might be fully equalized and a father could choose to continue a pregnancy by artificial means over the mother's objections and then saddle her with child support for it...

Okay, now subtract theatre take(~40%), production costs(a billie), and marketing costs(another billie) - so generously the Disney Trilogy made a half billion in profit. Let's ignore the countless landfills full of discarded unwanted Sequel merch around the world and pretend that brought in the same, giving them a billion total profit. In ten years. From an IP they paid *4 billion* to own. An IP they bought on the understanding it would remain what it had always previously been: a license to print money.

Anyone who believes that's a success, that it's even remotely what Disney envisioned when they purchased the IP, or that it isn't a colossal failure and mismanagement is just a fucking retard. An actual, clinical, special needs type motherfucker.

Oh and don't try to invoke Disney+, which has cost them 10 billion in losses since its inception, only became profitable in 2024, and since then has only generated a few hundred million in profit from their *entire* catalogue(and you can guarantee ~90% of their subs are coming from parents wanting to plonk their kids in front of Princess movies so Star Wars has fuck all to do with it).
