>>97382239This is supposed to be a small set they've already leaked 20 percent of the rares and mythics.
Apparently there's a lot of other issues with Lorwyn pre-release kits (double promos, duplicates in general) so it seems like they just fucked the pre-release kits up overall.

why are many creators so afraid of making a setting with napoleonic wars era technology?
>>97360893>Unironically what did Napoleon stand for?himself and france, mostly
>>97363439>human rights>humanitarian code of lawWell, it was a turbulent era, so dispersing riot with cannon fire might not disqualify him from humanitarian outlook. But the fact that he used grapeshot kinda does.

While not strictly napoleonics (its set in 1880) or perhaps the sort of "fantasy" you are into, ExpeditionL Agartha Descent has a fantasy Napoleon in as the setting's boss and anti-hero.

I'm looking for duelist / flintlock-wielding girls who'd fit into a Warhammer Fantasy RPG. Sadly, it's really hard to any that don't look too anime.
Whirling dervishes, magical orders in the middle of the desert, guuls, djinn spirits, and the like?
>>97370156Ars Magica has a splatbook called The Cradle & The Crescent which deals with middle-eastern magic through the ars magica lens. It's not particularly detailed, since it's totally different to the core european hermetic magic that the game is built for, but it's interesting enough. I played a guy whose shtick was summoning djinni and asking them to do stuff in a one-shot game and I have no idea how the rules worked, the GM handled most of the stuff under the hood.if you want more info I can try to find some.
>>97370397Very interesting! I've never looked at Ars Magica before, but I guess I shall now. Thank you!
>>97370719it's very clunky in some places, but it has something very positive for what you want. The "metaphysics" of the game is that things work how people think they work. That is, the majority belief holds true and this can vary from region to region (someone who has learned a magical practise in one region can carry it to another and use it there, but the reigning metaphysics will change). That means you can have characters from one region turn up in another and go "wow this place is strange, even the magic is weird, why are there so few djinni here? why are their mages so strange?" and have mechanical backing to that. Since world travel is difficult and slow, it's not a setting and era where people can easily compare notes and do that "unified theory of magic" thing that happens in some modern D&D games.

Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. But feel free to talk about any game you've had experience with.

>>97382556It wasn't his fault that he got the ONE security guy on shift who wasn't a rubber-stamp dispenser doing the check-in when the detention block cameras went out. That's just a GM having a chuckle.
>>97382154None. Nothing will change. Things will stay the same. It is still Disney Star Wars with the same assholes at the very top giving funding and setting mandates. It is still the current year, that is poisoned with faggotry and cuckoldism. Sequels are not going anywhere. Acolyte is not going anywhere. Their legacy will live on, and they will, without a doubt, show up in the upcoming movies. NOTHING EVER HAPPENS. The only thing I can see being different is Filoni not announcing 50 vaporware projects that are never happening, like Kennedy did.
>>97381206All of them allow you to. It's all a question of finding a DM that will run it. Age of Rebellion for the FF games is probably the best for a Stormtrooper campaign, either that or Fall of the Republic, if you want to live our your early Empire, Battlefront 2 fantasies of:>"After this planet broke off ties with the Empire following several of their Ambassadors being sent home in various states of dismemberment, Lord Vader decided it was time for a regime change!"I may be a little biased, being that i'm currently running a Stormtrooper campaign in this system, but i would say Saga Edition is probably the most... Robust (i think is the word i'm looking for) system for running a Stormtrooper campaign. Although i will warn you, it's a system that really needs a lot of house ruling to get the most out of. Like, just playing RAW is doable, but if you really know someone who knows the system inside and out who can make the most out of it.If you want to run a game using this system, i recommend going: "Y'all get minimum base starting money, but get the basic stormtrooper package at level 1. Also, all the classes that aren't Soldier get Light Armour training at level 1, as well as starting with the Armoured Defense Talent" It just makes the whole Stormtrooper experience much easier. Also, don't make every single mission "Boot to the throat of the galaxy" Stagger it. Make your boys do basic soldiering stuff as well. Clearing out pirates, assisting locals, dealing with wild animals. Remember what Frollo said:>"Stay your whip between lashes, or the old pain will dull them to the new"Yes, brutally massacring civies is fun, but too often and it stops being shocking and just becomes the norm.
>>97382677>it's a system that really needs a lot of house ruling to get the most out ofNot really, the biggest problems are I think these:>vehicle rules are shitNo different to FFG or WEG or any other system, Star Wars rpg systems have never managed to get vehicle rules right.>skills vs defensesThis problem is where skill mods are god in early game, and defenses are god in late game. The easiest fix is to change the Skill Focus so it only gives you a bonus of half your character level up to a cap of +5. Won't fix late game, but those games tend to be very rare anyway. There is also accuracy being prioritised over damage, but I don't think that's necessarily an issue because eventually you'll be mowing down nonheroic types and you don't need to do 100+ damage in one shot when the max damage you need to drop someone is 30.
>>97382677If you're using stormtrooper armour in Saga, Armoured Defense is literally unnecessary until 7th level. Because if you have proficiency, then you use armour bonus instead of heroic bonus. Armoured defense lets you choose to use heroic bonus if it is higher than armour bonus. And stormtrooper armour is a +6 armour bonus. It's one of the best light armour types in the entire game.

What age is it appropriate to let children open booster packs? In America, gambling is restricted to people 21 and over. Buying booster packs of Pokemon, Yugioh, etc however, all unrestricted.
>>97380251Never, keep your grubby little hands off my investments.
>>97380251The boosters aren't the problem. The problem is that TCGs are an incredibly expensive hobby that has been overtaken by speculative investors, which has driven up the price and scarcity. Young kids don't have very much money to spend and even less understanding of the value of a dollar (most adults don't either), so letting them get into these overpriced, highly predatory hobbies where their parents' money will be burned away on hundreds of cards that will probably never be used is less of a problem of gambling and more of a problem of wasting limited funds on worthless things, for the chance at a dopamine hit to get the cards they actually want, but won't use anyways, because young kids are not cut out for the extreme autism of the competitive scene where manchildren reign supreme.Simple solution: skip the booster and teach the kids to play the game and build decks for free through one of the free VTT programs that exist
>>97380426You'd have to be pretty stupid to think those cards are worth five whole cents.>>97380437Turn yourself into glue.
>>97381005>You'd have to be pretty stupid to think those cards are worth five whole cents. With the penny being phased out, it's the lowest possible denomination.
>>97381005He's not wrong though. While literally assuming they cost $0.05 to manufacture is clearly wrong, it costs under a buck per card to make them. Only case where that'd potentially change is for some of the higher quality shit you see with Pokemon's cards, where the price can maybe go up to double-dollar digits per card, but are still a mere fraction of what scalpers are selling them for (some cards are being peddled for $10k+). It doesn't make any damn sense to pay more than 5 bucks for a trading card, but an uncomfortably large number of people ruin their fucking lives doing it.

>>97381144I love this allegory
Tolkien translates orc speech into a crass English working class dialect, and this is extremely deliberate.Their affect represents that of many regular soldiers, men he once knew. This isn't any kind of hatefulness on his part, it's a commentary on what war and industrialist society does to people.>>97381453It gets better. The finishing of the quest, in the destruction of the ring and the ending of the tale, had a similar kind of effect on Tolkien as it did on Sauron. It's something I think would resonate with many authors. For Tolkien, the theme of not using the ring and keeping it from Sauron is a kind of metaphor for the continual upkeep of his own conceit and framing device. That he is not truly the author, merely a translator and editor. And far from the first editor at that. The first being Samwise, then a certain scribe of Gondor, amd sonon through the ages; as the story is passed down it takes on a kind of nature as a patchwork tapestry.Comment too long.
