The most anoying part is not just the armour design, is the absolutely lack of care for the SM concept, and the prostitution of the brand adding more and more slightly different marine types with overlapping roles.
Regular marines are the universal soldiers, they should be able to do almost everything in a decent way.
Now there are 3+ types of phobos plus original scouts. God knows how many different types of range marines all with the same gun like eldars, as many heavy and jetpack marines plus terminators.
The bloat is endless.
>>
>>97360810
I think the Primaspect Warrior approach is too deeply embedded to go away by this point but at least GW seems to be slowly reintroducing/refreshing the pre-Primaris elements of the army, I wouldn't be surprised if we see new Tactical and Devastator squads in the near-ish future. If those get updated the range will have everything you need to make an old-style Marine army with entirely new/current units.

I'm really not looking forwards to the Rhino chassis vehicles being inevitably squatted though, they look miles better than their Primaris replacements.

>>
>>97361820
They can't really do it. Primaris models are objectively ass even when compared to the HH models that are also ass but less so, but they are constant reminder that Marines can be better.
Reason why they didn't squat the terminators even though they tried

In 1.0 scythes were a fast axe. In 2.0 they were a reaping two handed power sword (equivalent stats to terranics but for killing hordes instead of murdering singles).
I reckon in 40k they are the biggest weapon for nurglites, and so they can act like hammers when they need to...but I do admit their fluff says they exist to enable the outnumbered to fight back.
It's just their stats for single combat are disappointing

New year new me edition

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

You can discuss Shadowrun here too because I also feel bad for those guys.

>I wonder if there is one more bonus ability
On the top of my head.
>Resist torture/drugs
due to electrocution, duh. Gang jazzler has what, like DV13? It's a 100eb (or 500, mind's foggy on that one) piece of chrome that additionally deals no damage, so it fits. Alternatively spend two charges to push the DV to 15.
>+2 to style
garbage IMO, unless you gate it behind "item counts as a piece of fashionware required to obtain +2 bonus from fashionware", or that it only add style if you somehow compose it into anime cosplay or something.
>move enemy by a single tie
so, bash them by 2 meters, sounds powerful, extremely niche but may come in with some funny MA combos idk.
Also if you're a GM what the fuck are you doing? do you really need a game mechanic to tell you that people are, in fact, capable of pushing other people?

Anyway, Anon I think that even basic EMP effect is helluva effective, since you're basically doing two attacks (microwaver and a VHMW), one of which has a guaranteed hit, and the second deals +1d6. Sounds like a 5K tier to me.

There's also one thing people really oftentimes sleep upon, you can make an item that, by the moment of it's fabrication is already tech upgraded.
Black chrome did this on more than a handfull of items, I dont recall RAW anymore items went that way, but it's quite possible. I havent played RED for like a year now.
>reverse engineering
Yeah, if you're curious, a tech upgrade can be invented, so, any of these instances where you get an item that is specifically said to be tech upgraded, you could quite easily compare it to basic item and make such tech upgrade, then apply it to a different item.
This also means that innately tech upgraded item cannot be further tech upgraded.
>>
>>97361275

>>

>0 reason for enemies to not always have LAJ

Lets talk RAW economy then. The least expensive rent you can have without being actually homeless is 600 eddies; eating kibble and renting a cube. If we model a shitty gang-banger as a rank 1 Solo (though it wouldn't change unless they were at least rank 5). That means that if we assume there are 4 weeks in a month and thus they can hustle those weeks, they will be making an average of 466.66 eb and thus be 133.33 eddies in the hole every month.

This means that if a boosterganger owns a set of complete LAJ, if he does not find a good paying job that month or some other form of score, he will be pawning it off for rent and getting a Kevlar jacket.

The last thing we need are TTRPGs that play like video games. Every time you people throw around terms like "rework" and "balance", I wonder if you'd be happier playing a MOBA.

I'll be honest, while the Low Key thing is a tip-off, I'm pretty sure he's osmosisposting rather than having read the source material without being biased ahead of time because the way he described No Key is very reminiscent of the way I was wanking him in the threads to prove a point on mortal potential a few years ago. star wars legion, i have a solid force for all the armies available but my pride and joy is my separatist army. really fun game. i like the gameplay a lot and it's my sci-fi wargame of choice as i hate 40k.
>>
>>97361406
>What other wargames do you build, paint and play?
There's no building or painting involved with them, but I play GMT hex map wargames.
>What do you enjoy about them that you don't get from Warhammer Fantasy?
You get the operational level of warfare which is different from Warhammer. I also get to play them with a different group of people, mainly the history nerds in my family, while Warhammer is something I do with friends.

A bit of a tangent but I'd LIKE to play other miniature wargames, I just don't have the time. Painting up my warhams takes all the time as it is. I have a little conspiracy theory that James has been upping the details on their miniatures with pointless bits and pieces that anyway get drowned in the noise of the model and you won't actually notice them when you have an army on the table. I believe this is done deliberately to rob people of their free time so they are more locked in on Warhammer and don't get the opportunity/time to try something else. I'd be curious if anyone else had that same thought.

Only other game I play is Necromunda, but thinking about getting into Blood Bowl.

Here’s a picture of my most recent Battle March game, my friend finally won with his Goblin Confederacy, I made a bit of a meme list and shoved a rune of immolation on my cannon bc he always goes straight for my artillery. Despite the loss, the explosion took out two entire full strength units, which was a very fun moment.

Oh I see, you appear to have confused games with some other medium.

Encounters don't have themes. The players are encountering those creatures because those creatures happened to be there.

Zombies, ghosts, and mimics can move. They can travel to locations where creatures of the other types are present.

NTA also not DnD but my players exclusively talk OOC during combat to optimise everyone’s decisions and I have to remind some of the more tactically-minded ones to actually leave some decisions for the rest irregularly.

Yes, nu-D&D players need encounters to be scaled to their levels because they're just going to rush in expecting to have victory handed to them instead of scouting ahead first and assessing whether they can actually win it and avoiding it if it doesn't seem like they can.

atheists trust whatever scientists say not based on fact checking but solely on the fact that the guy saying it is a scientist
for example, the vax was deemed absolutely harmless because the scientists said so
when some joe schmoe read about it how it's produced and what how it affects the human body and how the whole thing was rushed to meet the quotas, he was shot down because he was "fearmongering" and "not a scientist"
then healthy people started dropping dead and/or getting their faces twisted and suddenly the vax "may" have some drawbacks on "some" people but now it's a fact because the scientists said it
then the pharmaceutical companies admitted it was rushed but it was ok because the science agreed with the joe schmoe but you should never listen to the joe schmoe who did his research without bias and using his own brain. He commited atheistic scientist heresy and should be burned at the proverbial stake

You should really run something that isn't D&D instead of repurposing it for something it isn't meant for. But if you're going to do it anyway remove the ahistorical items but don't nerf the ones that stay, there isn't better gear for it to be worse in relation to and it's not like martials need to be shittier.

7 in the base game: 6 aliums with one generic hoo-man faction on the flipside of each alium. I would say they all have a pretty good niche in their playstyle which is based in the core concepts of the game. These are good at expanding, these are good at research, these are good at fighting, these are good at building type of thing.

I have 4 expansion races, and kind of similar to Dune's expansions, they are interesting but trend in a more weird direction that doesn't flow quite as naturally from the core design or have as strong an identity. Unlike Dune at least, all factions are not inherently interlinked or balanced around each other being present, so it doesn't really matter as long as you like it. Just a small observation.

So its a little like building up your forces and upgrades before you go closer to the middle?

Is there any comeback mechanic if someone else is just luckier with their draws?

I believe theres no trading with other players or alliances or that sort of thing?

>>97361551
Ah, so everyone can play as humans, which have no special abilities if they wanted?
>>
>>97361796
>So its a little like building up your forces and upgrades before you go closer to the middle?
Kind of. Most systems in sector 1 have NPCs but you can get lucky and find an empty space to expand in which will have solid planets. Then in the galactic center there's an extremely lucrative system that's always protected by a stronger NPC. Generally it will take at least a couple of turns of building up and improving your ships before you can properly engage the NPCs without having a 50-50 chance of just losing your small starter ships, but some factions are better at early combat than others. I took the galactic center on turn 1 once as the Eridani, which start with loads of money and decent starting tech.

>comeback
None whatsoever. If you play particularly stupidly, you can be outright eliminated from the game. But generally, if you play smart, you can find opportunities to come back.

>trading or alliances
Nope, nothing of the sort. There's only a small resource incime bonus you can get by trading ambassadors with your neighbour, but that goes away once someone gets too big for their britches and attacks.

Like I said, everything in the game leads to combat.

>everyone can play as humans
Yes. They have no special ability as such, but humans have better fleet logistics so they are not entirely without advantages either.

You can use dice just fine. You can't use the faces to represent counters, but you can use the individual dice for that ie 2 counters = 2 dice. It's far better like this since most fancy deck boxes have a compartment for dice, meaning there's a lower chance of cheating since you can just pull them out/store them as needed.

historically bandits often came from military deserters, so you could run with that. Maybe instead of a ragtag band of shitters with bad equipment, they're a highly trained unit with Fighter Levels. quick rundown?
>>
Funny emoug, in his early drafts, Tolkiactually used the word "Gnome" to describe Elves, not Dwarves.

The "Wise" Gnomes: Tolkien liked the word because it sounds like the Greek gnome (intelligence/wisdom). In his early Book of Lost Tales, the Noldor (the most intellectual and craft-oriented Elves) were called "Gnomes." He eventually stopped using the word because popular folklore (influenced by 16th-century alchemy and Victorian garden gnomes) had turned "Gnomes" into small, earth-dwelling, often comical spirits.

In general folklore, the lines between dwarves, gnomes, and kobolds were very blurry. Both were earth-spirits who lived underground. However, Tolkien specifically moved his Dwarves away from the "gnome" archetype.

Almost every dwarf name in The Hobbit (Thorin, Fili, Kili, etc.) and even the name "Gandalf" was taken directly from a list called the Dvergatal (Catalogue of Dwarves) in the Old Norse poem Vöouspa. The idea of dwarves as master smiths living underground, associated with stone and mining, comes straight from the Norse dvergar. The "Greed", The "dragon-sickness" or obsession with gold mirrors the Norse dwarf Andvari, who guarded a cursed hoard.

What he invented (The "Modern" Dwarf):

Tolkien gave them a secret language (Khuzdul) and a deep internal history. He famously compared the Dwarves' history dispossessed of their homeland and wandering among other nations to that of the Jewish people, which added a layer of solemnity and tragedy not found in most folklore. Before Tolkien, dwarves were often portrayed as ugly, maggot-like, or purely mischievous. Tolkien made them brawny, honorable, and formidable warriors. He intentionally used "Dwarves" (plural) and "Dwarvish" instead of the then-standard "Dwarfs" to distinguish his "elder race" from the "dwarfs" of nursery tales and Snow White.

>What would a "Dark" equivalent to gnomes be like?
A normal gnome?

I mean, D&D already has Deep Gnomes, svirfneblin. They're paranoid, greedy and solitary master-trappers.

Maybe explain why you're looking for something else?

>Dude, Nu-Lorwyn limited looks straight up fucking terrible.
That was my experience with test drafts. Goblins felt playable too.
The amount of recursion is just vomit-inducing. Half the games you literally can't get even a single fucking thing off the board, no matter how hard you try. And the games where recursion isn't a problem just devolved into stagnant boards, where all the high-toughness creatures made to absorb Blight costs can't do anything, and you can't Blight anything to break through because that would lower the toughness of your creatures and let them kill you.

It's fucking AWFUL. Like straight up abysmal shit and might be one of the worst limited formats ever.

Chris is honestly pretty cool about it. He's remarkably level-headed for a guy known as "Bald Fucking Retard" by the playerbase of his game.
