I've never really heacily featured Calibration in my games. I've had Calibration-adjacent things, and plothooks sort of cause by Calibration, though. One game featured a city-state close to a Shadowland where Calibration was time when dead relatives walked out of the shadowland to walk among their living kin. Player characters, who were Dragon-Blooded and in various degrees into Immaculate Faith, put an end to it. The same game had a bit with a village that had been taken over by a teodozjia who'd slipped out of Malfeas during last Calibration. Players put an end to that, too. I've had no real big in-game happenings during Calibration itself, however.

On the spectrum of rubber forehead aliens to complete starfish aliens that are made out of silica and breathe methane, where are YOU specificially comfortable with. Does there come a point where an alien becomes too weird for you to "relate" to in order to include them in your games as playable races?

Personally I am fond of aliens that look plausibly like they could have evolved in a different world and have no distinguishable lineage to earth life, even if they share some superficial features.

The universe is big enough to contain the entire spectrum, and it's great having different agents in the galaxy with different ceilings of interaction you can have with them. With some aliens you can trade or fuck, with others you can make alliances or go to war, but some you can only observe in wonder...or be observed by.

I work at a Walmart in the midwest, and there are only automated limits put in place, per transaction. Usually 4 per same item. However, there is nothing stopping a cashier from just doing multiple transactions of the same cards. Might flag something in the system eventually, but I have yet to see it.

My manager doesn't really care about scalpers and re-salers, so there's always this group of arabs that come in and buy the whole set of laptops that just went on clearance, just so they can sell them online for 2x/3x the clearance price. Wish we could tell them to kick rocks, but Walmart only cares about "number go up!" and other self-destructive behavior.

Does a magical parasite that took over the body of a wizard count?
I was basically just helping my friend play an NPC that would betray the party and be a more interactive boss fight.

The wizard was technically a half elvish female, but the brain slug never cared about such trivialities, part of the fun about being a parasite was being weird and off putting to see if anyone caught on.

Only time I even bothered with a female and I technically was playing something else entirely.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.

How to represent realistic nerve strikes?
The existing Pressure Points skill gets some of the effects; you can mess up a limb or stun someone for a few seconds and it usually takes a significant blow (i.e. 1+ HP of injury). 5d seconds is probably too generous. I'm pretty sure that you can't blind someone (optic nerve goes straight to the brain). Solar plexus might make you start suffocating, but is easily resisted with tensed muscles and doesn't last long.
I don't think many nerve clusters can be reliably hit with normal levels of skill. Anatomy is messy and nerves are small, buried behind muscle, and prone to slipping around inside people, so there is always a chance of failure. On the other hand, sometimes people hit them accidentally. The most vulnerable one is probably the 'funny bone' behind the elbow, but its effects are minimal.

Galletian Champions warscroll standardizing combat ranges is a nice change, as well as fixing Look Out Sir. Combat ranges led to bullshit situations where base size did much more to determine the viability of a unit than it should have. Being on a 32mm with 1" combat range should not have been the massive liability that it was.

Between that and having some kind of logical timing explicitly spelled out, 4e is better than 3e from a GHB perspective. Unfortunate that they changed every single warscroll to d3 mortals on a 2+.

Wanted to talk about advice on GMing, settings you prefer, and styles or issues you as a GM have. I generally tend to prefer dark fantasy or sci-fi settings rather than trying something a little different.

I also tend to have a style, depends on the system though, where i have a combat heavy session or two and then a more intrigue/exploration focused session. I have been working on how to better balance games I run, but trying to tie that to timing a game session gets tricky at times.

Another issue I noticed is that puzzle solving or investigative games can be a lot harder for a player to get into the mindset for than the dm. It is easy to think everything you planned makes sense when you thought it out in your head but the players might not have the same line of thought.

I have one player who is playing an investigator, and has a built in "I'm stuck" mechanic. But he refuses to use it or gets frustrated when I just "give him the answer".
Another player also did a few things to effectively put him in contact with a god-like entity with near omniscience, but he also only uses it if he's completely lost.
I also do cut in as they're discussing something really wrong with something like "based on x, y, and z, your characters would not make that assumption but instead think something else" and they'll generally agree with this assessment.

OP here. The style thing is something I am trying to correct more so than anything else. While I leave thing open ended, I have noticed that the set ups tend to favor either combat or more thinking outside the box solutions. It tends to lean back and forth based on the game.

As for advice I have learned:
>Do not over plan your games. This can be bad and make you struggle if someone does something you do not expect.

>Don't be dead set on certain events happening specifically at a certain location. Things can be moved around if needed and stuff ends up completely derailed.

Well, that's how our Ref solved the problem of making CI distinct from the social skills.
I agree on the main point, I don't think Roles should be balanced power-wise, but they should receive roughly equal attention from the devs and it's obvious they hadn't.
Media's Credibility has miserably low numbers at first, but at least you can always use a high skill to gather actively Rumours.

In my games I made Smasher the true boogeyman, all the stories of him jobbing are just fake copes and his stats are so bloated (beyond what the basic rules would allow) that he's basically "YOU FUCKING LOSE" statblock, unless the party's goal is to escape.
