I think floating artillery works if it has energy weapons on board, but I guess that would look far too off compared to the rest of the army. Though I might be wrong here, since it is geared with grav stuff all the way, could probably use an energy-based artillery too.

Is there a reason we have so few games with a Gothic or Victorian inspired setting but a trillion rehashes of medieval fantasy, science-fiction or some eastern setting with katanas?

Writers aren't very creative and players aren't very willing to experiment when they feel they've found something that works well enough.

>gameplay
For Centaurs, you should be able to use them as mounts when not in combat if they're lightly armed & armored. I think you could ride into battle with them and fight on their back without overburdening them, depending on your loadout. Squeezing into dungeons and caves might be a bit of a bitch, and your centaur companion may find themselves too cumbersome to accompany you in certain locations. If people in wheelchairs can make do, I'm sure a transmog potion or a shrinking potion might solve the problem.
>fantasy settings
They're more at home here for sure, like having a horse. Some taverns may give you a hard "no" for your centaur companion, but I'm sure regions that are steeped in centaur culture or adjacent ones have accommodations for their unique anatomy. If nothing else, they could help carry your camp supplies and other provisions.
>loadouts for fantasy
If you're not riding them, I think they can be pretty well armed and armored- think tower shield and a mace/flail. They also make good spearmen, so I think they'd be comfortable wielding a halbard and similar pike-style weapons. This would be with them wearing plate mail cuirass for the human portion and chainmail curtain over their horse hind quarters, or perhaps some specially fitted Gambeson. Other plate sections could be fitted to their horse body as needed. Archery and crossbows seem like they'd work for ranged options. I've not considered them using magic, but having a fairly mobile spellcaster seems cool as well.

You can search for 3-D print models. Centaurs are a little goofy anatomy wise so I wouldn't expect to find them in a regular store that pumps out mass-marketed stuff.

I'm not a chud and the thought of Emperor's Children torture raping female Custodes makes my weenor hard
>>
The Custodes represents _every_ single aspect of humanity possible including the metaphysical, this would include women. Whereas Astartes only represent what's physically possible (the Emperor's scientific pursuits). In real life only men are capable of war and have more resistance to things like wounds and not breaking to tears in combat, so the more "physical" faction has men only.

This is why there can only be men in the Astartes but the Custodes can have women. I realize this doesn't explain why there's female guardsmen (the physical aspect of the Astartes in recent times is now solely represented with process of making a marine) but I hope this otherwise helps.

This. you see hooked nose and a love for shiny baubles and immediately think jew. There are other races who match that description. You have to look at additional clues.

Are goblins going to steal your bank account a little off the top every day for 30 years, or the hubcaps off your car?

Do goblins squirrel away valuable shiny baubles or ostentatiously wear a tacky amount of cheap and worthless shiny baubles?

Do goblins trick you into doing all their work for them, or do they just leave work undone to go laze around and get drunk?

Do they rent enslaved loose women to lechers, or are they themselves just lecherous loose women?

If a goblin tries to scam you, is it by throwing himself under your carriage so he can sue you or by offering you vice only to blackmail you with it, or is it cheating at a carnival game of chance he's playing on the side of the road also his buddy is pickpocketing you while you're distracted?

If they practice magic, is it secretive alphanumeric patterns and divine flowcharts and live blood sacrifices trying to become as gods, or is it openly practiced crystal balls, cards with painted scribbles, and chicken bones?

while i agree, i also just disagree with tolkien about making orcs/goblins darkelves.

I certainly question ed greenwood's take on dark elves, don't get me wrong.

I just also question the need for separate darkelves really at all. when you look at the old norse there's a strong case they're just calling dwarves dark elves / swarthy elves / murky elves.

Not to mention i like goblins/orckind being a natural part of the world. "Everything was once very perfect and good until somebody fucked it all up" is a very christian propaganda kind of mindset. Nature exists in balance, cycles, give and take. Some things must destroy for others to grow from the carcasses.

Well yeah, but I said "started doing this". Vampire, the line least interested in grand cosmology and possibly the biggest advocate of unreliable narrator-itis, was still trending towards reducing the amounts of mysteries and question marks out there.
>>
>>97395411
Part of this is on the fanbase as much as the writers.
Like, Houses of the Fallen, one of the very last oWoD books released, has 2 entirely different houses both make claim of having developed Lore of the Fundament, just as one example of unreliable narrators, but people still take the 'Ziana is totally Gaia' stuff, which isn't even stated for certain in there, as though the splat itself is saying this thing to have been 100% true.
It's all just potential plot hooks and a people's own chronicling of their own history for you to play around with.
>>
>>97395081
It's best to stick with the lore of your main splat, trying to combine splat lore is more of a mess than trying to combine splats themselves.

Thread #02 Lean Winter on the Tundra
Previous Thread: >>97090196

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.
Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.

>but he did work with a cult. Demonic one.
Not that surprising. Many are willing to give up their souls and enter servitude for a sliver of demonic power. Nothing is worse than a demon, best to destroy these cults as quickly as possible.
>>
>>97395310
Preaching to the choir my friend. Back around 200 years ago, there was a huge cult of a very old demon killing people every new moon. It's what got my family into the hunting profession in the first place. Nowadays, we pride ourselves on being a demon-free community.

We actually still have the muskets they used back then as family heirlooms. Only really good as a wall-hanger, but an important piece of history. My ancestor's hunting knife gets passed down from father to eldest son, though we've needed to have it restored two separate times.
>>
>>97395356
Glad to hear that there are dedicated demon hunters out there. From what I know most hunters out there need to realise demons are very much real and dangerous. I'm no demon hunter myself but I know a few, they also go after wizards and such.
>>
>>97395427
We hunt more than just demons and their worshippers, but that'd be a specialty. I'm surprised to hear that most hunters you've met are skeptical about demons. Once you know there's things out there in the night, demons seem like a logical assumption. I'm hardly a religious scholar, but I'm pretty sure most cultures have something you could call a demon.
>>
>>97395748
They were new to this whole thing so I can't blame them, we're living in the age of science after all. Still, you'd think that finding out about vampires or ghosts would be convincing enough. Best to work with people you know and maybe include some outsiders who have shown themselves to be capable.

It is? Ever since I kinda stopped being enthusiastic about Delta Green I've stopped really looking at /tg/ except for like a day or two a week, if even that.
>>
>>97395623
yes. I don't fault you if you're OP as Fallout is popular IP and currently it has tv show that attract even more people to it and I myself like really enjoy 2d20 system (Conan, John Carter, Dishonored) but by 4th thread I think its been established that if you play fallout the rpg it generally seems like:
Fallout 2d20: if you want to play simulate fallout 76 or fallout 4. if you want to simulate fallout 1 or 2, you should use GURPS, GURPS fallout mod.
You can also try things like twilight 2000, deadlands, genesys mods.
Don't want to be asshole or anything my dude, just weird that there's a lot of threads lately that ask similar questions regarding fallout 2d20.
In case you ARE OP, than to answer your initial thread question:
Its ok. it works really great if you LOVE fallout 4, however, a lot of tables in corebook are unfinished, like they to know what you should you able to loot from building, please refer to loot table. well there no such table (i don't i may be errated, but in my copy, there is no such tables) and game system tries slavishly follow fallout 4 game mechanics as such you need to make cheatsheets for all tables or GM should be really big fan of fallout 4 video game and know stuff from top of his head.
Generally i would say, game is not as crunchy as Conan 2d20 or infinity 2d20, but it has more crunch than say Dune 2d20 or Homeworld 2d20. My personal take though, I would take some other system to play post apocalyptic mad max lite game.
>>
>>97395333
Holy shit, the no games arm chair design shit is annoying as fuck. Are you a shill, or are you spending so much time huffing your own farts that your brain isn't getting enough oxygen?
>>
>>97395333
>That's a business decision, not a game design decision
If you design your game to require certain tables, and then shunt those tables into a separate product, it's absolutely a design decision. You've actively made your game incomplete so that I am required to spend more money. That's fucking garbage, and you shouldn't want to play a game designed in such a way.

>they didn't literally call out the name of slaanesh, but they did come to believe in absurd heights of degeneracy as a lifestyle to the point where (like warfare) belief in the power of that degeneracy created a warp deity to embody it.
Yes that's the entire point, the gods don't care whether you believe in THEM as gods, only whether you believe in the ideologies that they feed on.
>>
>>97395674
your "point" is semantics, no belief = dead god, or in the quirky warp physics, a god that never existed.
>>
>>97395681
This entire stupid reply chain started with one anon saying
>The gods exist whether you believe them or not.
and another disagreeing. But yes, an atheist who has either never heard of Slaanesh or denies that Slaanesh exists is still feeding Slaanesh when they do degenerate hedonist stuff.
>>
>>97395758
not necessarily, it seems the distinction is wether or not the hedonism and degeneracy are an end rather than a means, lust and pleasure in both positive and negative form existed before slaanesh was birthed, so the mere acts are insufficient, likewise when daemonettes or nurglings engage in violence they are not being khornate, for them the violence is merely a means to the end of pleasure/disease/etc... whereas for a bloodletter or a berserker the violence is the purpose, so for slaaneshes birth the eldar were the first society that existed on a large enough scale collectively believing in hedonistic pleasures as the purpose of their existence to create an entity in the warp representative of that.
>>
>>97395806
Well now we're really getting into semantics. And, while I agree with everything you said, I don't think it changes the original point that whether you believe in the gods themselves *as Gods* does not actually matter. The ancient Eldar were still empowering Slaanesh without suspecting that Slaanesh existed/would exist, Fabius Bile is still empowering Slaanesh even though he keeps insisting there's no such thing as gods, etc.

Did you use primal magic? Shits actually amazing for beastmen.
Also, got my warped Gors printed finally. Two musicians and I'm getting two banner bearers made to use in the other units. They'll be command crew if not used as warped Gors.
