What kind of obsessions or hobbies would vampires or other undead have? They don't need to worry about time so money or the time needed to learn a skill wouldn't matter to them. Would they stay with the games/hobbies of their mortal youth or do you think they would gravitate to whatever would be popular in each era?
>>97374476How can we answer that without more knowledge about the specific kind of vampire or undead and how it varies from others?

>>97374441Not really, I think they just take more ammo from vehicles n stuff. At the start of the great crusade emps didn't even want human forces outside of the old 100 regiments so it would be silly to put serfs in the harm's way. Serfs don't do a lot of stuff in 30k in the first place because I think most maintenance is done by marines anyways. There are a lot of scenes in the first 2 BL slop books which have Loken just fixing up his armour and weapons while waiting his next deployment. Serfs are just there to help marines do things only humans can do.

>>97374274>Still has the other 3 issues even if the DM rules how you're thinkingCorrect, I would assume most DMs wouldn't stop a person from hiding in combat or in a situation where they can move cautiously, as many Rogues and Goblins do that in and out of combat. I also would assume most DMs use the highest passive perceptions as the DC you'd have to beat to not be found instantly by said target(s). A DM could also simply start using See Invisibility, True Sight, or Blindsight. Those automatically counter hiding in the new rules. So even low Passive Perception creatures just notice the PC who rolled a 40 on Stealth and is Invisible but not to them!
>>97374349If it were me I'd allow a Hide roll and that's your number until some event occurs. I'd ignore the implications of "invisible" and simply use the mechanical advantages. You're still visible and walking into the middle of a lit room gets you found regardless of rolls

Every once in a while there's a thread popping up about how badass and stronger 40k's setting is, but big time professional question ironically raised by an autistic friend of mine at the pub yesterday:Could the Imperium sucessfully afford to invade and take over Kirby's planet?
>>97374369Doesnt this happen at some point and kirby just wills himself out of it?
To the people saying "kirby isnt that strong" we know. We played the games and watched the cartoon. His copy power iant perfect and the warp star is unreliable. Here's the thing tho: power scalers dont know this, and they believe everything the internet says kirby can do all because of 1 poorly written death battle against majin buu.
>>97373160>>97373743Reminder that in Planet Robobot, Haltmann converted all of popstar to a mechanized world in seconds.Once Kirby woke up he immediately stole a mech, taught that mech Hunger, freed the planet, destroyed the fleet, ate a starship, killed a rebuilt cyborg godmachine, and returned Pop Star to normal. Not even an exterminatus would stop him.
>>97374369These sort of plans have a tendency to backfire. Twice now someone has gotten the jump on Kirby and sliced him with an all-killing blade - once was Death itself - and all it did was split Kirby into multiple Kirbys. Trapping Kirby in a stasis field will likely just give him access to some sort of alt-form, super-powerful "Elder Kirby" that triggers at key moments as the game's gimmick.

>>97370240>>97374061More to the point, even if the word had existed, it wouldn't mean there was some sort of mythological or folkloric basis around its existence. There isn't one. The surviving references come from a poem written as fiction at the time (and even there only as part of a compound word likely meant as a euphemism for draugr) and a glossary.Orcs as entities do not come from folklore. They come from Tolkien. Or rather from D&D ripping off Tolkien, since Tolkien just meant for it to be a word for his goblins.
>>97370240>>97374061>>97374112And to further cement this distinction between orcneas and orc. Tolkien himself personally said orcneas as draugrs were the basis for his barrow-wights, ie not his goblins/orcs.
>>97374061https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/1abs8w3/the_word_orc_in_robert_browning/Numerous other examples aside from Beowulf
>>97374279That's "orc" as a word for a large sea creature. Same place we get orca. Unrelated word except insofar as both descend from Orcus.
>>97374461A large sea creature among other uses and not at all unrelatedDo you think Tolkien didn't read or something? Again, he didn't invent the word and wasn't the first to use it to describe some monstrous creatureTolkien's orcs are distinctly his creation same as his dwarves and elves are, but that doesn't mean he literally dreamt up the word from the void and it wasn't an extension of a previously existing literary tradition/continuum
So I tend to run high-powered games with lots of homebrew and shenanigans going on in PF1e/D&D3.5e/d20 systems/etc. and I've used plenty of optional rulesets and such and tend to allow copious (some would even say insane) amounts of 3pp and alt content as long as I have a chance to review it first and it seems like it'd fit. Among other things I have used the Mythic rules for some of my games and overall I do find some of the content rather overboard even for my games. I have also granted players customized extras (that occasionally scale) before, once I called them "atavisms".I am trying to design an "add-on" system that's a bit more regular for my games instead of the random campaign specific stuff I've done for people. I'm just not entirely sure what to call this though and I was hoping you lot might have some interesting suggestions (barring making up my own word ofc). Thus far some name ideas include> atavisms> blessings> boons> awakenings (there is a 3pp system for these)> gifts> modifications/mods> templates> splats (WoD reference)> sides (eating lol)Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Though I want to create this as a "system" or optional ruleset for general use as opposed to the "atavisms" I custom made for specific characters in my current campaign, I could also make some based around the atavisms I made for that campaign. Some of the ones that aren't already included in the post above include> a "depleted" relic weapon designed to combat the undead and some anti-undead features> improved archery fuckery including the Eyes of the Hawkguard veil and a spammable Trick Shot psi-like ability, was going to advance to include Arcane Strike and some of its bonus debuff feats> teleportation/movement shenanigans including the Runecloth of Doorways veil and some stuff from the FFd20 Red Mage Vermilion Duelist (including spending stamina for extra swift actions)> endurance/survival type features basically making the character able to endure just about any travel or environment, also Keep Watch SLA so they don't need to sleep> AoE based defense/protection capabilities such as The Duelist's Point veil, Guardian Sphere, Shield Sphere, etc> the ability to inspire and lead others in various ways including the Personal Theme Song feat, Warleader sphere capabilities, and etc> access to the Gadgets feature of the Technician basically crafting short-term useful items rather quickly, MacGuyver vibes> some (rather insane) crafting bonuses (I'm probably not going to do this one again lol)> becoming a (literally) glowing example of battlefield endurance, shedding light and being able to keep fighting below 0 HP as well as being able to buff/heal closeby allies> small constant AoE buffs (the Purring feats) and the ability to see into people's surface thoughts a bit (was for a seducer/diplomat type of person)> immunity to pain and access to Shield sphere and defensive capabilities and some medical knowledge> immunity to poisons, able to detect poisons, craft (alchemy) bonuses, and a bunch of poison/venom perksThere's more but you get the idea I'm sure.
>>97372311I was also inspired by Souls to add a "Gift" system, as I think it could add a lot with roleplaying. The term for them is still somewhat TBD, but right now I'm calling them Keepsakes, which happens to be the what the same Gift system is called in Elden Ring. I'm using them as more of an optional roleplaying method at the end of character creation. They do have some passive and active effects, but they're minimal to keep them (mostly) roleplaying devices. Players can write a short blurb about how they how and why they have their chosen Keepsake; useful for potential future situations, especially since some Keepsakes are associated with different races, cultures, nations, etc.Essentially they're there for sentimental and roleplaying reasons, with minor effects in gameplay.

After playing both the original Shandalar and the 2016 update version I've come to the conclusion that magic was just more fun in 1995 when it was more loose and relaxed. The kinds of decks you go up against in the 2016 version are so much more ruthless about shutting down every play you make that the only way to compete is to be an even more obnoxious dickhead and make sure they never get a chance to do anything. Every victory was bitter and spiteful in a way that I never felt with the older simpler Magic cards.
>>97374311I play forge a lot. But it’s more of a goldfish bowl that weakly fights back. Good for testing drafts, cubes, sealed but ultimately the bots are so retarded they miss lethal, make bad trades, and always fall for combat tricks to name just a few.I made Final Fantasy cube and testing it against bots was great but even fan projects can only go so far.
