When last we met, we made G.E.T.S. (Generally Entertaining Team-built System). Thus far, it seems to be a fairly minimalist system.

Now, we shall make our first setting for this system.

If your proposed idea gets doubles, it is canonized. Any canon characters, worldbuilding, themes, et cetera can be modified (but not outright contradicted or discarded) by triples, quadruples, et cetera.

Let us continue.

The player characters are on a quest to capture numerous fantastical creatures (up to a party of 6), training them until they are strong enough to challenge greater angels and become the champion of whatever their creature-taming-based hierarchy is.

All random chance is based on drawing from a pre-shuffled deck of cards
Modifying or reading this deck is possible for certain magic users (Including enemies)
This deck contains "Calamities" and "Miracles", the equivalent of crits
The deck has a joker, and when it is drawn the deck re-shuffles

(What each card means is in a look up table, many are situational.)
(None of them are "Wacky" and none are instantly obvious such as "The sky turns red".)

Maybe you could fashion a tool out of a paperclip. Chisel end it or wrap it with a little bit of fine sandpaper. Secure the sandpaper with a rubberband or super glue, secure the paperclip with a hobby knife handle if you have the right socket for it (a set if sockets are handy so you can fix a variety of tools to it)

I'm a little new to FDM, coming from MSLA, but there are some things you can tweak. If you're using Orca Slicer, under the Quality tab, try reducing the Slice Gap Closing Radius and the Resolution values. Some things still won't print for me though, and I think I need to change the extrusion width --I'm also running .4mm so that probably doesn't help

Get a couple of silicon pads, preferably with raised sides. Put the printer on one, do processing on the other, including cleaning. If you run one of those wash units, maybe a third for that, but I wash by hand so can only guess. Aside from that, I put a thin film of ptfe oil on surfaces around the printer unit to help protect it some from spills and splashes. Just wipe on and wipe off, so there's a barely perceptible film on the surface. If you need to tape the edges of the screen, do that before though. Stuff won't stick well to surfaces once the ptfe oil is applied.

Mars 2 is a little dated but can be a decent printer. Has a mono LCD and collimated light. If I remember right, the collimation lenses sometimes had some offset problems. A lot of printer designs moved from an array of lenses to a fresnel I think.

>A war that was stretching resources and the public’s trust in the Jedi while building Palpatine’s social and technical powerbase, what in that wasn’t conveyed between the prequel films?
The scale of the conflict, who Grievous was, what the actual fuck happened to Anakin, and I'm sure I could think of a few things more if I actually re-watched 2 and 3.

The poiint is, the PT as a whole is wonderfully compact, but it wasted a huge amount of time on irrelevant fluff. Which is why they spent a decade explaining what the protagonists actually did.

I would like to run a Rifts game. I created a shoddy system for Foundry to play Palladium Fantasy, but the core book was so badly written that I would not want to touch coding Rifts with a 10' pole. Are there any ways other than taking the SW pill to play rifts online?

Not that I know of. There's an Excel character generator for sale on the Palladium Books website but I don't know of any automatic systems. Savage Rifts is much better supported in that regard.

True, but does you LGS just have judges chilling during the day in case of chimp outs? Mine only gets them for large-scale tournaments. My locals are usually very civilised and people sort stuff out between themselves. These dudes weren't known to me.

As a matter of fact yes, my regular OTS always has the judge on the building, he's also a vendor and the tournament organizer. The owner really just sits behind the counter and lets his son do all the selling of sealed product.

Why is it that so many fantasy writers make their evil cults unjoinable by anyone with a functioning brain cell? Like why would you worship Orcus, whose goal is omnicide? Why would you worship Tzeentch if he’s probably gonna screw YOU over as part of his grand plan?

What makes it so bizarre to me is that, firstly, it’s not like they need to be so off-putting to be evil. Orcus is a demon of undeath, his followers want to turn their enemies into the undead. Tzeentch wants the world to be in a constant cycle of chaos, his followers are gonna be masterminding world wars.

Secondly, it’s not like we don’t have plenty of examples of real-world evil cults. A lot of cults in the West don’t follow Super-Duper-Mega-Murder Satan, but are fucked-up offshoots of Christianity. Historically, goetia was practiced by people who would’ve still called themselves Christians, while committing rituals to summon and get boons from demons. Plenty of human cultures used to sacrifice humans to their gods, not to summon them to kill everyone or some shit, but to honor and/or appease them.

Like to use another example from Warhammer, I think Nurgle and Khorne present more “approachable” evil cults. Nurgle is toxic positivity, and his love will take all the pain away. Khorne is wrapped up in enough language about honor to lure people in.

Like to rework an evil deity, let’s pick Lamashtu. Instead of “We love ugliness and miscarriages and also you get to die in childbirth”, the cult targets vulnerable young women and lures them in with divine feminine language (“You have the power to bear and raise great beasts”), while promising the young men of monstrous races frustrated living among humans that what they’re scorned for is what makes them powerful (and also they get to have sex with pretty girls).

Christmas edition

▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop miniature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNLc8dHv0Ac

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

Anon... I mean maybe it's just bad luck, or maybe you aren't metagaming Survival of the Fittest enough, but... you really shouldn't be losing that much.

My group has done 4 campaigns with no losses. I've never actually seen a settlement go down, and it's usually not even close, by the end we're always steamrolling so hard the GSK goes down in 2-3 rounds. The worst campaign we did of the 4 was the one time we chose Protect the Young, SotF really is easy mode if you abuse the rerolls and plan for intimacy, but even that campaign was still pretty easy.

Haven't been able to play since GC came out sadly so I can't comment on the new stuff, hopefully that's quite a bit harder, but all I can say is remember your SotF rerolls, and remember that in settlement phase any survivor can provide a reroll for any roll, skew the population female, use unnamed female survivors' rerolls first, and it's okay for unnamed female survivors whose reroll has been spent to die in childbirth. With that and intimacy bonuses like you get from Face Painting you can make intimacy net positive on rerolls and get tons of them to help save you from bullshit rolls in settlement phase.

Requesting any of the Arcana Unearthed books from 3e by Monte Cook / Malhavoc Press

>In the game Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the Garou (werewolves) were made to defend the earth from the cosmic forces that threaten to tear it apart. The Garou fight against the Wyrm, the destroyer. It is a struggle against nearly insurmountable odds, especially considering the rivalry between many tribes. These rivalries make it almost impossible for the werewolves to present a unified front against a cosmic force that pervades reality.
>From this morass of hatred and mutual betrayal, there is little hope that the Garou can emerge triumphant against a foe so well armed as the Wyrm. The Wyrm promises money, power, sex, and whatever else the heart desires to its followers while the Garou receive no reward for their striving. It drives them deeper and deeper into despair, or into betrayal so deep that they choose to serve the Wyrm instead.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

It means people weren't using it much anymore, which is accurate. The peak of FOE posting was like five years ago, it's long since faded to being mostly tongue-in-cheek shitposting usage, even last year.

Wilderlands of High Fantasy is cool, but I wouldn't say it's easily accessible. The information is scattered all over the place, often internally contradictory, and it doesn't help newbies figure out how to use the whole hot mess.

I've used Roll20 for this many times and glue the printed and punched tokens to wooden dowel slices and then cover them with clear rubber "bubbles". Bought all the stuff on Amazon for mere tens of dollars. Pic related.

I would rather stop playing games altogether than to use garbage 2d "miniatures".
