The low and high tech books are very good, probably the best and most useful besides Basic Set. There are some worthwhile home rules/alternate to consider though, and I always recommend looking into Martial Arts just for the much better bleeding rules and hit locations than Basic. Alternate GURPS has a few that are just better than basic, including the Alternate Gun skills, and a big recent one I'm fond of is using the DF slam table in place of the slam rules in basic. Those can all come later but keep them on your radar.

For some time now, I've been developing my free game, an RPG/strategy interactive fiction simulator about a Dark Lord/Lady trying to conquer/destroy a fantasy world using intrigue, corruption, dark magic, and brutal military force.


I have already sought and received your help several times, for which I am grateful.

I am planning another major update, focusing primarily on the endgame. Players focused on direct conquest will have new ways to find loot—portals to crazy, Lovecraftian worlds, discovering new lands, and a magical slumber to wait for the rebirth of old enemies/the emergence of new ones (and seeing how the world changes in their absence). For players more interested in the less brutal side of world domination, the options for managing the territories of our empire will be expanded. Will you allow orcs to overrun Dark Elf cities? Will schools focus on training engineers for the army and economy, or on brainwashing them into blind obedience? Furthermore, I'm expanding the Dark Lord's interactions with other characters, including available romances. Of course, new content requires testing, and since, as usual, it's highly non-linear and dependent on player decisions (plus random generation), I can't test every combination myself.

That's why I'm seeking the help of testers.

Who knows, if there was a function it any number of things could've changed since. Maybe it wasn't even 1/2/3/6" at one point and instead some specially designed distance set. Maybe there was an intention for there to be a standardized type of distance increase that would've been made more intuitive by it, like some rules could say "increase range by 1 stage" or something and that meant going up in colour. Maybe there were plans to make movement bonues add or subtract one shape of distance, and then using different shapes for a team's movement would have some interesting implications to how the team is affected by stuff like injuries (e.g. a team with 6x1 movement is affected less than a team with 3x2 movement, even though they both start off with 6").

Does anyone have that flow chart that shows cover vs conceal vs can't be targeted at all? I'm a brainlet and only play once a month.

Anyways, here's my current project. Just have to paint up a grenadier, another assault marine, and the assault intercessor sergeant. I'm also thinking of swapping the grenade launcher guy's head out since I want him to look like Wesley Snipes' character in Demolition Man. But first I'm working on a Blooded team.

Also, balance update when? The state of DW/canoptek/wolf scouts is just so surprisingly bad. Especially canoptek, and that team could be nerfed without draining it of the things that make it fun.

Maybe a loved one is the only one who can see you. Maybe you don't notice you're dead and suddenly people are throwing out your things, moving into and building over your home,and pretending you're not even there. Maybe your will isn't being respected or your body wasn't properly buried/prayed to. Can you even remember who you are or were? Are some teenagers trying to capture you on video or play in the abandoned hospital you died in? Are the men in black showing up with proton rays and googles? Or is some charlatan waving around candles and rags to get in your way? What if he's not a charlatan?

Sure there's a system, a bureaucracy, but it's crowded and contradictory. Where are the pearly gates? The scales of Anubis? The tide of Mictlan? The hound of Hades? Davy Jones' Locker? Maybe you'll have to work under the table with the others waiting to find out more of what goes on in the other side and why you are here

I expect something like that more so than "you gotta get with the ghost gangs and fight in the ghost war while struggling with your evil headtwin and if you fuck up you get turned into a shoe"

Roads also cause a gameplay problem because travel on them is fast and not subject to getting lost, which means that they naturally attract pathing and keep parties from striking out into the wilderness in more interesting ways. As such, they should be kept to a minimum.

Looking at your map I get the impression you're already basically doing this, but what tends to work best for D&D is if the setting is a post-catastrophic period when the land is severely depopulated and former thriving settlements have fallen to ruin, and/or were inhabited by inimical humanoids the whole time, so that the roads are gone and old castles, abbeys and even cities rich in artifacts lie abadoned and ripe for the plucking if they can only be found.

Considering all this, Anon's suggestion that the only roads leading through most of the map be very occasional Roman or not!Roman roads that are so robust they survive centuries of neglect and are almost considered magical artifacts by the present population is very sound. In your case, for example, if you look up where Ermine Street and Watling Street ran, those would probably be good choices for where such roads might be drawn (and you could efface the roads during parts of their former extent, as well, forcing PCs to explore to find the next intact section and pick the route back up).

The sad truth of self-publishing on DTRPG is that there's tens of thousands of products over there, and most of them are crap. You need a better reason to look one up than "it claims to be for a system I'm interested in", or you'll spend weeks out of every year of your life reading crap.

And frankly, the same applies to bringing one up over here. If you have something useful to say about it, thank you very much, share it. But if all the reason you have to discuss it is that it's just a random title that claims to be compatible with something, the overwhelming statistical probability is that it's crap.

wanted to try out a flexible spellcaster druid for an upcoming game, am i cooked? wanted to get my defenses to a decent spot while being able to use a shield. later on i intend on getting into heavy armor

You'll be fine. You got the basics and can work as a good on-the-spot and downtime healer. The stat array is a bit weird but you got +4 on WIS and Heavy Armor will cover the middling DEX/Reflex so I'm not going to judge.

I'm running AV and I meant to increase the enemies to account for the extra people but I forgot and was lazy. Thank God I did.

So they ambushed this worm wizard dude, he's cr 6 to their 6 lv 8s. Easy fight, right.

It took a full 40 minutes for them to kill him. One guy who rolled low on initiative never got a turn.

Between them, rolling initiative, staying in stealth, moving, debating choices, talking amount themselves, asking me to look up stuff, it took forever.

Im debating about inputting turn timers because certain people who already took long are taking even longer.

AV is absolutely not a 6-man dungeon, not without significantly widening the halls. Even if you are lucky you rolled initiative, you better hope your frontliners' fatasses just don't block the only entranceway!
Though yeah, 6-man groups in general will require some patience.
