>listen to ROTS Audiobook after finishing Labyrinth of Evil>The Entire battle of Coruscant arc (from introduction to anakin's controlled crash) is 4 hours long>after dooku's dead the Jedi Council and Palpatine immediately start plotting against each other>The Council (namely Mace and Yoda) are somehow even more retarded than their clown wars counterparts>"Palpatine can't be Sidious, he already rules the galaxy" is something mace himself says>even after he spent the past week investigating the tunnels under Coruscant in LoE>Obi-wan chats with padme, telling her he knew the whole time but didn't care because Anakin is his best friend>Anakin acts more irrational and more unstable, to the point where Palpatine easily manipulates him into thinking that Padme is cheating on him with Obi-wan>Palpatine himself is the smartest guy in the entire story>grievous is willing to retreat when things get too hot for him but he's no jobber like in the clown wars>Dooku is a human supremacist for some reasonI can see why the Novelization is considered the best the old EU had to offer, and I haven't even reached order 66 yet
>>97265208All CWMMP novels are the best of the best of the EU. Sure the RotS novel is good but I wouldn't take it over Labyrinth of Evil or Plagueis or Dark Rendezvous. Plus it technically isn't totally canon since it has shit from older scriptsAlso Council aren't retarded, they're arrogant and foolish which Palpatine points out. Too comfortable sitting on their little ivory tower to realize how the galaxy would completely support the Empire at that point in time.
>>97265208One thing about it I found funny is that the novel kind of referenced the "what about the droids attacking the wookiees?" scene before it became a meme. The Jedi council in their infinite wisdom decided that the best way to lure the Sith Lord into revealing himself is to make the Jedi appear weak by sending some of their best members away from Coruscant, and that the CIS invasion of Kashyyyk would be a good excuse for Yoda to leave the Jedi temple. So later there's a scene where Anakin has jus come out of a council meeting and thinks how he wasn't able to concentrate on the meeting due to his internal conflicts and how at some point somebody just randomly blurted out something about droids attacking the wookiees and Yoda just said he was going to deal with it without the council even voting on who to send.OK, that's not the only part I found kind of unintentionally funny, though the other thing is really only in retrospect due to the timeline being compressed. In the scene where Anakin and Padme first meet upon his return to Coruscant, the two embrace and she wants to tell Anakin something, and he can sense that something between them has changed and that is somehow involves another person, and immediately jumps to accusing her of cheating on him, only for Padme to reveal that she's pregnant, which Anakin is surprised but overjoyed to hear. There's nothing inherently funny about that (aside from Anakin coming off as having some insecurities about his wife's faithfulness, which might be foreshadowing to him later think Padme is cheating on him with Obi-wan, of all people), but since the events of the movie were later canonically stated to occur within a period few weeks at most, instead of several months like the novel implies, it would mean Padme is almost 9 months pregnant at the time, and Anakin somehow completely fails to notice.
>>97266300When and where were the events of the movie stated to happen in a few weeks? Just curiousAlso Anakin being extremely insecure about Padme cheating on him from the offset makes no sense and is clearly something Lucas cut because it made Anakin look irrational from the get-go. In the actual movie, while it was cut for time, the Delegation of 2000 scene shows Palpatine slowly manipulating Anakin into believing someone may be seducing Padme into behaving against Republic interests, and he clearly knew Anakin would eventually implicate Obi-Wan. It's far more logical and it plays into Anakin falling to paranoia once the Dark Side has fully taken over him at Mustafar rather than just randomly when he was still a Jedi.

Over the holidays I was reunited with my friend group from awhile back. We played Commander. I was glad to hang out with my friends again, but I was reminded of how poor the gameplay of Commander is. Everyone basically played solitaire and there was zero interaction or combat. Then someone had an infinite combo. The infinite combo was negatively impacted by a permanent on the field the combo player neglected to notice. There was a lot of rule-lawyering. Then we decided the game was over. I think if you asked each player "who won" they would give a different answer. It was a good reminder of why I don't like Commander.
>>97266401I'm always grateful that the people I play EDH with all started with 60 card and draft about as often as they shuffle up their piles. Everyone knows the importance of interaction and that it's always worth squeezing in a bit of extra damage here and there if you can get away with it.
What is the correct way to handle female priestess? Historically women weren't part of the clergy, so you don't have a lot of references to drawn from in regards to their attitude.
>>97262982The last one is just a lie and at this point in human history you should realize it was just gas lighting. Like Forklift certification, they sit on their ass all day and are memed on by everyone else and so they started the meme about being a forklift driver as based despite being the opposite.

>>97264034Sus em dashes
>>97264943You're the gayest person in this story
>>97254880To answer this question, it is best to look at the situation practically and determine the general position of women in the society of the setting you're designing or playing in. Historically, the difficulties of managing a house (cooking, cleaning, laundry, making clothes, etc.) and the lack of childcare services (birthrates and deathrates were typically high) necessitated that one parent devote themselves to homemaking/housekeeping, which was almost always a married woman due to the physically intensive nature of most occupations available in an early society. This, in turn, cultivates a patriarchal tradition within the society that lasts even after jobs that require less physical intensity emerge, though it should be noted that most cultures still had unmarried (and sometimes married) women working in some capacity.Once (societally beneficial) magic is introduced though, there are numerous factors to consider depending on the implementation:>If both sexes have equal capacity for magic, then women would be just as capable of men of performing a highly-desirable occupation; if one sex is noticeably better at magic than the other and magic triumphs over strength, then either a patriarchal or matriarchal society will emerge>Most likely, widespread magic would make many chores either trivial or take significantly less time, freeing up considerable amounts of time; the necessity for a dedicated homemaker/housekeeper decreases>If healing/curing magic exists, then mortality rates drop significantly; a population boom will lead to a flooded job market, which leads to a more even mix of working men and working womenWith that in mind, priesthood is typically not a very labor-intensive job, so the core duties of the clergy would differ much between the sexes. Most sex-based differences come from the religion itself, which is based on the societal conditions the religion developed in. In a typical fantasy setting, female clergy are as viable as male clergy.

I finally got around to watching True Detective S1, really good shit, watched it with my pa too. Got me in a certain mood so I dug up my collection of Machen short stories and the complete John Silence stories I got for my birthday a couple years back, they scratch the itch somewhat. Getting back into X-Files too and I'm wondering if anyone has any particular favorites when it comes to that genre of occult detective and/or conspiracy thriller with horror overtones?

>>97266306No worries, enjoy it. A brush that feels good to use is a treasure, and even when it can no longer hold a tip it is useful. A soft nice brush with a frayed tip is excellent for drybrushing in small areas.

>>97266308What you're doing there looks more like volumetric highlighting than edge highlighting, but yeah for edge highlighting you could go a little brighter. The shade on the fingers and the top of the left knee looks good though I can't tell if that's actually a different shade of blue paint or just the same one as your other highlights overlapping better with the highlights of the actual lighting.

>>97244827When you make a fantasy world, the only valid options are:1- Humans are everywhere and anyone else is from some other place.2- Due to the actions of the gods, many races exist and are expected to either share the world or kill all others, depending on whether it's a good race or a bad race.2- One specific non-human race is in ascendancy, and humans are subject to racism at the edge of that race's dominion. No other races exist, or if they do, they are offshoots of one of the two races. If your world is anything but one of these, it's crap. But thankfully almost all stories fit into one of these. Only (2) can serve for a setting where the players have more than a handful of race picks normally though. Oh, it's a weird bee person? Well, you were made by the bee-god, who wants you to have dominion over certain hills in certain places or something. Oh, and you can fly, how convenient. Etc.
>>97244827MAGA (Make Aliens Great Again)There have been many unique alien species created in sci-fi, but they've been falling into the fantasy tropes of "We're humans if humans were X". No consideration of their homeworld, the species they evolved from, or anything like that. Infinite carbon based lifeforms with 70% water composition. Predators got a whole tribal hunter culture built around their upbringing as a carnivorous hunting species.40k Orks are psychic créatures so stupid that they can bend reality to their will by accident and multiply like rabbits on meth. These are two examples that I can come up with off the top of my head, but I know there are more. I'm sick of generic sci-fi turning into human politics but if it was space and also they were slug people/furries
>>97244887Your aliens are blue humans with rubber foreheads because you lack imagination and you are pathologically obsessed with appealing to human audiences. We do not all suffer beneath such burdens.

>>97265685>wixoss>Main deck>LRIG deck>tn note: LRIG is girl spelled backwardsI don't think it being anime is what held it back
>>97265685I think being put off by the Disney aesthetic and being put off by the anime aesthetic are different things, but the both may apply to someone whose idea of what a TCG should look like is MtG, and they also apply independently to groups that are fine with the other (for example I'm fine with anime but don't really like Lorcana's looks, despite actually enjoying Disney's animation too). But the success of the underlying IPs is definitely the big factor keeping TCGs alive in the west. MtG is the only self made one and even it is bending the knee more and more to crossovers (whether that's a necessity or just Hasbro's greed is another matter). Yu-Gi-Oh had a long and successful anime even if it's over now, Pokémon is the biggest franchise in the world, Disney is Disney, and I don't think it's a coincidence the biggest new game is the one based on one of the most successful anime/manga properties ever. Japan seems to have its own deep rooted enjoyment for card games by themselves that lets original ones flourish but here in the west people need a hook to get them to play one and 'here's cool cards of characters you like' is a pretty good hook.
Wtf is rollslop? I can't keep up with all these zoomer words.

>>97262948Yeah, but that would take effort. It's better and easier to just put a sticky note on the table that says "gm decides everything" and tell people to find a new group if they don't like it.That way you can focus on the stories and worldbuilding a lot more.

I'm surprised by how many people have tried to make a healing Fighter subclass before.
>>97263231This happened a surprising amount with one of the players in our party. It's not like it was the first time she'd played a TTRPG before, though it was her first experience with 5e specifically, and a good chunk of her turns would be spent with "I move and then do nothing" because she couldn't fathom using alternative actions, magic items in her inventory, or doing anything that wasn't just attacking. Hell, half the time she'd have to be reminded to rage as a Barb or to apply her bonus Frenzy damage.
>>97263302Healing always feels like a losing proposition because it's less efficient than just killing things most of the time. Having the ability to patch up a wound is good and Healing Word is a lovely spell to have in the party because it doesn't eat up a main action, but sources of healing almost never outstrip damage taken, so it results in players feeling like they've been caught in a backslide. Short resting usually covers healing needs as long as they fight effectively and mitigate damage as much as possible with smart engagement, so the most you can really offer are a handful of healing potions or scrolls with healing spells imprinted.
>>97263442This. Rarely in the games I've played in do players have an opportunity to just kick back for an hour unless they're already in a safe situation where they don't need to worry about healing or resource recovery. In a dungeon? Fear of being interrupted. In the wilderness? Same. Out on the road? They're either relatively safe or they're in an urgent chase or race against time and may not have the chance to rest or otherwise could just stop and make camp, at which point healing isn't even a big deal.
>>97263442>>97263421In my personal experience, we never take one-hour breaks. I mean, if we can rest after several fights, it's usually a full eight-hour stretch.
