▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop miniature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNLc8dHv0Ac

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

Yes because there are a non-insignificant amount of people who pay that money purely for small bits of cardboard.
>>
>>97229189
Group. Though I have learned that 2 people is better with two people then 4. Players, rightfully so, really, like to see their favorite survivors do cool stuff instead of being efficient sometimes and can lead to more dead settlements.
>>
>>97231868
Survivors doing cool stuff that eventually lead to dead settlements is a far more fun cause than playing it safe and boring in order to lead to a guaranteed dead settlement but longer.
>>
>>97231554
It's not the damage that is the problem. You could remove the damage and it'd still be a dangerous card, though obviously substantially less so.
>>
>>97231868
I always liked 3 more than 4 or 2. We each get our own survivor, there's one group-controlled survivor that does mostly boring stuff and gets the boring gear, and if somebody's survivor dies they switch to the group survivor. It always worked out well. 3's a good number for banter, too.

I dont need 4 sets per year but I wish Sorcery would at least publish a one smaller set per year along with the one major one. Otherwise the game will feel super stagnant.

I was definitely thinking older dragons, but fair point. Some young dumb dragon hopped up on "bow before me I'm the master race" energy would make a decent melee opponent, I suppose.

Then you can add the class levels and more back thanks to the retraining rules. You can turn HD into actual character levels because the System treats them as the same thing.

I have an idea for a Mu Revenant conversion by painting watered-down liquid greenstuff onto a Roman's face and then smudging in any features needed but it might not come out right. Maybe you could fashion a tool out of a paperclip. Chisel end it or wrap it with a little bit of fine sandpaper. Secure the sandpaper with a rubberband or super glue, secure the paperclip with a hobby knife handle if you have the right socket for it (a set if sockets are handy so you can fix a variety of tools to it)

I'm a little new to FDM, coming from MSLA, but there are some things you can tweak. If you're using Orca Slicer, under the Quality tab, try reducing the Slice Gap Closing Radius and the Resolution values. Some things still won't print for me though, and I think I need to change the extrusion width --I'm also running .4mm so that probably doesn't help

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

Wanted to talk about advice on GMing, settings you prefer, and styles or issues you as a GM have. I generally tend to prefer dark fantasy or sci-fi settings rather than trying something a little different.

I also tend to have a style, depends on the system though, where i have a combat heavy session or two and then a more intrigue/exploration focused session. I have been working on how to better balance games I run, but trying to tie that to timing a game session gets tricky at times.

Another issue I noticed is that puzzle solving or investigative games can be a lot harder for a player to get into the mindset for than the dm. It is easy to think everything you planned makes sense when you thought it out in your head but the players might not have the same line of thought.

Be a Master of both paths my son

World path) take the OSR pill, as in internalizing the following truth:
- be like an Arena Master and a Referee, not a Director. Your job is to throw the PC in the scenarios you engineered, to move the set pieces and react to your players decision accordingly, not to be an illusionist altering the threads behind your screen to force your predetermined and inescapable decisions on the pc;
- keep the world around the pc moving, the osr specific tool here is to keep strict track of time in all dimensions. Just as for the microcosm of combat rounds use calendars for days (where to keep track in advance of weather, factions actions and events to be) and proceduralized turns for explorations;
- be callous but just, learn to advertise and telegraph dangers but never shy away from them, instead of fixing mistakes in post (fudging dice, use failing forward and deus ex machina tricks) convey openly the risks beforehand leaving ALL the responsability weight on the players decisions alone, make their agency truly matter;
- treat combat (and by extension all sorts of scenarios) as a war and not as a sport, make terrain matter, make features matter, make morale matter, make psychology matter, make any of the pc interaction matter. The players are traversing a real field, not a theme park with triggerable events and puppets;
- focus on a (per adventure) narrow theme, ask yourself what your game will be about. Hunting monsters? Tomb raiding? Street gangs war? The more specific the better.

[Part 1/2]

[Part 2/2]

Story path) take the Hickman manifesto pill as in internalize the following truth:
- have the players engaging with the world on a deeper level than what the game focus presents. Ask them a poignant, short and relevant reason (that may be honest to themselves or not) for their characters motives;
- there should be overachieving events in motion the effects of which should influence the characters microcosms (and their decisions influence these events back), have them tackle with this spontaneously unfolding narrative;
- make the world have verisimilitude, don't just throw random dungeons and encounters in random locations but try to make sense of them within the context of the world, even in post if necessary. Make notations of these reasons to keep this internal consistency for yourself and not to explain the world to your players. Leave them to make head and tail of it by themselves but reasons should exist nevertheless;
- overarching events should culminate within 1 or 2 game session tops in a satisfying manner (as in resolutive). Make extensive use of in media-res to initiate the game and keep the pacing snappy!
>>
Wonderful, was looking for this exact thread.
I have been running games for 15ish years but have recently started delving into more narrative-heavy games. Currently running PF2e in a campaign that's a sequel to my previous DND 5e campaign.
In the first campaign, the players were stuck in a time loop, and thus had very few consequences to contend with, up until they point they needed to break the time loop and align things to minimize the bad consequences.
This next campaign is set after the time loop was broken, and the new characters are effectively tasked with stitching the broken world back together.
The issue is, with the world in this very broken state, I've been experimenting with more complicated small settings that require some attention to detail/asking the right questions to pull apart the entire story. My mantra has been "nothing is random, everything has purpose" to sort of hammer this home. My issue is that in many many cases, all but one or two of my players seem to understand the consequences of taking actions without considering everything, and one of those players has been playing a dumb character. So in many circumstances, a good chunk of my party has been left feeling like they're getting railroaded or otherwise do not know how to influence the flow of the world. I've even tried dumbing things down significantly (e.g. the infected forest only needed to be healed by the party's druid) but I've brainwashed them into overthinking ( to the point where having the druid heal the forest was the 5th thing they tried because it was "too obvious").
tl;dr, at what point is slight complexity being too hard the fault of the players rather than the GMs? because I feel like I'm failing a bit right now
