Everyone I know who watches Fatt Coville videos is a fucking terrible GM. I've never fully watched one and I am widely considered the best GM out of all 3 groups I'm part of. I am regularly requested to run campaigns. People borderline fall asleep in the games others run. There's also no tension because they know that these Coville acolytes will fudge rolls until all PCs survive the battle.

If you're a good GM, it's an inmate talent you can hone over time. You're born that way. If you aren't, then no amount of shitty advice is going to make up for your lack of talent. It just is what it is. This idea that everyone should "try" DMing is retarded. The idea that anyone can be good at it? lolno. Its like some fat divorced on who suddenly decides he's gonna become a famous author. Fat chance. Most people fucking suck at GMing. Hell, most of them suck at playing, but at least in that case the game depends less on them.

I've played alongside a guy who really loved to flex their oldfag credentials about how he once played at a table with Arneson or how he had Gygax's signature on the first dungeon master's guide or some shit. He was the most obnoxious, annoying, derailing piece of shit I've ever played any game with. I've also run games for literal children who were better players than the highly opinionated, stubborn oldfags who prided themselves on their expertise and deep knowledge of TTRPGs.

The old players get set in their ways and believe they already know how to play and don't need to change their habits. Everyone else does. Their egos and undeserved confidence in their mastery of game systems makes them feel smug that they are the truest authority at the table, even as they misquote every rule and cite made up houserules or something some other GM allowed as justification for them to always get their way.

I think session zeros should be a thing, formal or informal. Either way GM/DM advice is useless because every GM, theor skills, style, and what they want is different. Some GMs probably benefit from having 20 pages of notes for a session and planning for every possibility, my notes are a few stat blocks for likely enemies and some possible loot with me winging the rest. Some GMs might like reading 5 page backstories, I for one just want to know family, friends, origin, and goals of PCs. Some GMs like games built around the story where it's 90% roleplayong 10% mechanics, I for one love mechanics and combat.

Ive played a one shot of spooktacular, which is an IP free version of the game. Enjoyed it quite a bit, it was a lot of fun. It's a very light weight game.

It's fun, it's simple, suitable for adults and kids.

First edition was slightly better. Not all that many real differences mechanically, added a little encumbrance rule rather than just can carry five items or whatever it was, made a rule for making weird science stuff, added a sort of wound/injury rule. They also got rid of the character and equipment cards because they cost too muc--because they were "childish". Making a character in first edition takes seconds, and a few more seconds in second. Its dice pool system is the progenitor of the d6 or D6 system like used in WEG Star Wars.

It's not something I'd probably make a long campaign of, though that is where the second edition was headed, but for a short campaign it's fun and it's never out stayed its welcome. It's easy to learn and as I said works with kids and adults. The only warning I'd give is that it's supposed to light entertainment and it's a bit less fun if you play it completely straight but don't got for slapstick. If you and the players don't take it seriously that's worse I'd say than taking a more serious game and playing that for laughs.

My character was a small time con man who didn't believe in ghosts and joined up because he thought it was just a way to scam credulous rubes. C-Bill cost has always been badly balanced to me. I know there a lot of nuances meant to be taken into account but if I was to boil down the problem in basics, an AC/10 and PPC are the exact same cost in C-Bills but the PPC is lighter, more compact and you don't have to worry about ammo. The actual problem with C-Bill costs is that they're set when the item first appears and never change (because that would be a monstrous 20-30 some odd page table cross referencing every item by every era, at least) no matter how the situation around that item does. If it first showed up as a boutique experimental item hand made by top scientists and engineers at the NAIS or something, then it will always have the inflated cutting edge C-bill cost even after it becomes widely produced by the whole IS. If it first shows up after a timeskip as a new thing that is widely available, it will never have the higher price its first hand-made, limited run iterations would have had. Inflation never impacts the prices. The complete collapse of the c-bill as a currency never impacts the prices. Items only being "sold" internally from a state producer to the state military using house bills never impacts the theoretical c-bill price players use.

But to make any of that happen would require the developers to find some kind of financial expert with the perfect blend of Battletech and actuarial autism, and the end result would be a brand new highly complicated system tracking inflation and exchange rates across 600 years and multiple economic models. So instead we get fixed c-bill prices.

need. Thankfully all you need to do is chip away at the resources you can see and the
rest will come to you. Start digging up a vein of iron or anything else and material will
migrate to replace what you’ve taken, allowing you to collect every last bit without
needing to chase it down. This perk does work with machines you’ve built to collect
resources for you

Well Anon, my initial inspiration for the design was Carnor Jax's Crimson Empire. But due to LFL's moaning, I can't take royal guards, kind of ruining the theme.

I'm still tinkering with adjusting the lore, but the core idea is that this is indeed a warlord faction - the Palace Empire.
