Men who make/roleplay female characters, why do you?
Why do you think it bothers /tg/ so much?

When I was nine my sister was making fun of my for playing a "girl game" because I was playing Tomb Raider, since that day I've resorted to playing women just to spite her.

>the original claim was that all characters were necessarily self-inserts?
Idk why this pisses you off so much. It's literally just "you control the buttons you press" applied to imagining shit, but in trying to explain this i've been met with frothing abject refusal to understand another person's perspective (which is hilarious all things considered)

Everyone I know who watches Fatt Coville videos is a fucking terrible GM. I've never fully watched one and I am widely considered the best GM out of all 3 groups I'm part of. I am regularly requested to run campaigns. People borderline fall asleep in the games others run. There's also no tension because they know that these Coville acolytes will fudge rolls until all PCs survive the battle.

If you're a good GM, it's an inmate talent you can hone over time. You're born that way. If you aren't, then no amount of shitty advice is going to make up for your lack of talent. It just is what it is. This idea that everyone should "try" DMing is retarded. The idea that anyone can be good at it? lolno. Its like some fat divorced on who suddenly decides he's gonna become a famous author. Fat chance. Most people fucking suck at GMing. Hell, most of them suck at playing, but at least in that case the game depends less on them.

>>

Yeah but almost all TTRPG YouTube slop is like this. Its some catchy title and the advice is the most obvious low effort shit imaginable. Nothing insightful or original is said. Ever.
>>
>>97232573
That's because most of the advice is lifted from reddit, who lifted it from old blogs and forums, which, in turn, was lifted from Dragon magazine and earlier publications.

>Be me.
>Lord General of the Nordican 1225th/ defacto governor of Nordica II.
>For the last few years we've been abandoned by the wider Imperium to an ice world that very much resembles our home.
>In that time we've constructed the city of New Yur.
>A sprawling metropolis surrounded by a network of trenches visible from orbit dug by the kriegers and valhallans.
>We've also made more or less peace with the orks we were originally sent here to fight, and even made alliances with the ruinous powers, but those truces only last for one day a year.
>A day that is fast approaching.
>Candlemass brings peace, but also war to Nordica II every year without fail.
>This year however the orks have decided to convert the former colloseum constructed by khorne worshipers in the ruins of a space hulk that crashed here into an arena for a sport they're apparently calling "Blood Bowl."
>I will be attending the first of these games on Candlemass day, which is set to pit greenskins against some surviving khorne worshipers they've captured.
>Emperor willing this will be the beginning of true peace to our world.
>But knowing Candlemass that seams unlikely and I'll be waiting the whole time for some new threat to emerge.

>Be Priscilla, Least Fortunate Woman in the Galaxy
>As I stand in the lobby, trying to think of the next phase of my plan, and dreading what bizarre incidents will happen on Nordica II this Candlemas, a pale skinned woman in white furs sweeps into the room at the head of a small group of drunken lackeys, tosses me a set of keys, and demands that I drive her to something called a “Blood Bowl Game” in the old Space Hulk wreck
>I briefly contemplate running or fighting, but the high heeled boots I acquired as part of my disguise aren’t well suited to either course of action, particularly as they don’t quite fit, and one of heels has a bit of a wobble
>And then one of the lackeys refers to the pale woman in white as “Cummissar” and I realize how laughably outclassed I am
>According to what little intelligence my superiors have managed to gather on the Schlick, the Cummissar is the leader of their paramilitary organization, and is a daemonette of significant power and cunning
>And a shape changer as well apparently
>Trying, and no doubt failing, to hide my horror and dismay, the best I can do is resist the urge to start crying, and to not cover myself with my hands as the Cummissar gives me a very thorough leer
>I wordlessly allow the group to lead me to the large limo in the parking garage, and manage to get the limo on the road without too many scrapes and bumps, usually people drive me, not the other way around
>I try my best to keep my eyes on the roads, but the moaning and slapping sounds from the back of the limo left little doubt as to what is going on back there
>But eventually the noises stop, either she tired her minions out, or worse, drained their souls until they became comatose
>And every time I looked in the rear view mirror following the ceasing of the sex noises, the Cummissar is staring at me hungrily
>>
>>97232481
>This is bad, perhaps even as bad as the string of events that had occurred when Happy Ending was invaded a few months back
>We arrive at the Space Hulk and I am shocked to see presumably normal Imperial citizens mingling with Orks, Gretchin, shamelessly underdressed members of the Schlick, and even a few Tau and Eldar
>Clearly at some point in my absence, the Lord General crossed the line between short term alliances with heretics and xenos, and outright heresy
>I guess I can’t throw stones given where I suspect my own employer’s loyalties to lie, and the several occasions in the past where I was temporarily enslaved by Orks, but I am dismayed by how clearly compromised Imperial rule of this planet has become. Any plans I had of sneaking off and notifying authorities completely evaporate
>I was hoping the Cumissar would let me stay in the limo, but instead she leaves her comatose minions behind and demands that I accompany her to her box seat instead, and the way she says it leaves no room for doubt on what activities she has in mind when we get there
>Fuck my life, times a million
>The walk to the box seat is simply brutal
>Despite the amount of effort I am putting into managing my mounting dread, I am painfully aware of how every human face that looks at me is either shamelessly leering or twisted up in disgust, and I get groped or spat on at least once every ten seconds
>The Orks and Gretchin seem to instinctively recognize my low status and more than a few times an Ork deliberately bumps into me and knocks me over like a bowling pin on the icy floor, or a Gretchin throws waste at me, to the cruel laughs of the others
>The Tau and Eldar just look at me like I am crazy, probably because even by the standards of the Schlick my attire is extremely unsuitable for the freezing conditions and icy floors of the Space Hulk
>>
>>97232493
>The Cummissar doesn’t seem to notice my discomfort, though no doubt she has plans to warm me up when we get to the box seat
>And here we are
>Like the rest of the arena, it is crudely fabricated from metal cut from the Space Hulk, with only a few pornographic paintings and a table full of drinks and “toys” denoting that this space has been set aside for a high ranking daemonette
>There are two armed guards here, and a scantily clad serving girl, but the Cummissar unfortunately just ignores them and indicates I should sit on the crude metal bench and watch the game which is just starting while she pours us some drinks
>The bench is so cold that it burns, and the game, which seems to be some Orkish equivalent to football, stops as soon as it starts, with two players arguing over some rule
>The Cummissar hands me a drink, puts a hand on one of my knees, but then leans forward and starts scanning the playing field for something
>fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckuckfuckfuckfuckfuckuckfuckfuckfuckfuckuckfuckfuckfuckfuckuckfuckfuckfuckfuckuckfuckfuckfuckfuckuckfuckfuckfuckfuckuckfuckfuckfuckfuckuckfuckfuckfuckfuck
>By this point I am shaking uncontrollably from both fear and cold, and I have the most extreme case of goosebumps I have had since that one time I fell in a river on Damnatum Lutum during the middle of winter
>I silently pray to every god that might me listening that the Cummissar actually enjoys watching “Blood Bowl” and forgets about me, or if that is not an option, that some sort of distraction occurs that gives me a chance to escape

Oh and that was basically the end of the game. We played Acquisition for the first time (my first time) and so Double Dog there running off with the goods won me the game. That dire wolf there took an extraordinary amount of punishment and didn't die, and another dire wolf and warhound survived but I had killed 5 warhounds that match.
Next time we play I'm gonna encourage my opponent to try his Legio rules because that special Audax maniple would be a real benefit with the terrific amount of terrain we're able to use.

Game number 2! I'm still going!
I forgot to take a snappie of turn 1 but it was mostly movement. Laserbeak awakens its machine spirit and blocks stripes from advancing for 2 turns because of poor placement. Jim and the knights push a flank and I successfully bait my opponent into letting me get my warhounds into a prime firing solution on his dire wolf.
Two failed captchas... at last...am I finally a machine?

You have to read "Jim and the knights push a flank" in Jeremy Clarkson's voice with the Top Gear soundtrack.
I continued my absolute bullying of this double melta dog again. My opponent this time should have First Fire'd it into the knights instead of charging (we talked about this too) because of the strength of the attacks and range. When we use stratagems the next time we play I'm gonna recommend him the ones best suited to helping this little mutt along, but today I wanted the kill.
That dire wolf just would not die this whole game. I suppose I can't complain.

The, because of a bad maximal fire shot, would push its reactor into the orange and with a failed emergency repair order and a bad repair roll could not overcome its reactor and destroyed itself. Double Dog would doggedly drill its dakka into the dire wolf's side there, but could not cause more than a few direct hits and wiffed with every smash attack it made. The other mortis warhound tried to follow up but on turn 4 Laserbeak finally got into melee.
Before that, however, the knights and Jim ran around the side (no photo) only for the knights to be destroyed by a volcano cannon shot. Stipes would pick up an objectives (we were playing acquisition again) and hold it for the game to win me the match.

Double Dog would be double teamed (turn 4 before the end) but thanks to Laserbeak's earlier charge and its defensor cannons it would actually destroy that last warhound before its activation, by sheer luck and my bullshit rolling.
Stripes and Jim would also lay low that warlord, mostly through Jim's absurd accuracy, but it would fall and deal serious damage to Stripes's head. We were game to play to turn 5, but we rolled a 9 on the d10 so the game ended.
That dire wolf took at least 6 probably 7 vulcan mega bolter shooting attacks and did not fucking die no matter how many shots were aimed at its carapace. I can't complain, it was impressive.

Play Titanicus, ya saps. It's so good.

Agree completely
It makes historical wargames truly egregious because literally nothing has changed. If anything the way theyre resusing and iterating so much on rules systems lately and cutting corners with inexperienced devs and less research, Im not sure why prices are so ridiculous, especially from smaller companies where I guess theyve decided to just fleece the boomers before they die and no young people play anymore
Doesnt help that theres so many preds in these companies going to events

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.
Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.

Anyone planning to play any Christmas Specials? One-shots or variations on your regular game? Our group often has a Christmas special of some kind, either some unique silly monsters, or the current party portalled to the North Pole, or some villain stole all their magic items for presents, that kind of thing. What does your group do for the holidays?

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: How often do you use an official GURPS setting? Which are your favorites?

Huh, the description is oddly wrong. The gun was popularly used in full configuration (stock and suppressor) in the soviet afghan war as a backup weapon by pretty much anyone who could get their hand on it but especially Spetsnaz, and that carried until the war in the Donbass where it became sort of a status symbol.
>>
Is "I/we should have used GURPS for this" a recurring reflection? Because I probably am at this point.
>>
>>97232190
No, because the answer is always "yes".
I have played a lot of different games before playing GURPS and all of them would have been better if I had been playing gurps.

Yes. Its a thought that frequently comes up whenever we try to run something in any other system. Usually, the answer to "why don't we run this in gurps instead" is that it would be a lot of work on the GM's end to do it right.

Yeah I've got a whole fleet of those Dark Eldar ones from a random BFG lot I got from ebay. Also have a bunch of unbuilt Ork ships, which I think was a combo of ebay and direct from Specialist. And a SM fleet in various stages of built/painted which was also from Specialist. And a couple unbuilt Grey Knight Strike Cruisers and the little Thunderhawk stands from FW I think.

Thats alot of minis. And nice that they are originals, not meaning 3d printed are bad.

The Craftworld ships were kind of a callback to the Space Fleet ones.

I've got an absolute shitload of BFG stuff, it was my favorite game GW made besides 1e Necromunda. I scratchbuilt some Grand Cruisers and Voss light cruisers with standard prows, and another Voss light cruiser with Chaos parts. Among a *lot* of other shit.

one of my old fleet shots. The Emperor-class from Space Fleet is standing in as the Voss battery cruiser, and that weird Chaos ship is a scratchbuilt Bulk Freighter/landing ship we were using for a scenario

That's pretty much most power fantasy jump.

I like how half the replies assume space battlecruiser and the other half assume a sailboat.
