I'd recommend colourshift/metallic paints, but I don't know if you could get such an extreme cream-black transition with those.

Trench Raiding With The Lads Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

The slimmer one isn't from Clan War, he's one of the early miniatures for L5R (the card game/RPG side). See:

Actual Clan War minis were closer to 30mm scale (like Zenit's stuff), but very robust. They only had two poses on the rank-and-file guys. Otherwise quite good models. If you keep a sharp eye out on auction sites you can still find minis quite cheaply, they were in active production from a guy who bought up the molds until just a few years ago. Shadowlands stuff is the real bitch, Zenit and - bizzarely - Ral Partha Europe are the only people with any undead samurai and bakemono/nezumi are basically impossible to find. Naga only got about half their releases before Clan War went under, as well.

Reaper did some promotional stuff with the license in the late 1990s. I have a couple of them, you could get a promotional Emperor Toturi and pet bird for subscribing to Inquest, and a few things like one of the Geisha are still in the Reaper catalog to this day. They did some more recent runs of models for the RPG and Lootcrate that are... less cheap. Those guys have a white blister and L5R branding.

...Also, while I was researching who wound up with the rights to Valiant Miniatures' stuff, I discovered a company called "5th Field" who seem to be archiving a whole shitload of old moulds. Including a Kobold whore. I'm genuinely shocked it's from Jason Weibe instead of Klocke or Kev White

it wasn't just the 1.5 kits. there were a ton of 2e kits that had some combination of insane assembly, unbelievably fragile models, weird scaling (like justice and the viks being fucked up), or just way way more pieces cut than there needed to be. there were only a handful of cases where they weren't a strict downgrade from the metals, and that mostly in the bigger monsters.

I'll grant that they've gotten better with time, but they don't get a pass for all that. It's not like they ever reimbursed anybody for all that trash.

I got an FDM printer lately and now I'm livid because I realised how fucking awful Pajeet47's prints are. Even with a 0.4 nozzle you can print smooth surfaces with great detail as long as you go with the lowest layers possible. Scenery, tanks, scatter terrain - none of those have to look like carved wood if you are willing to use just a little bit more of material and wait for a bit longer as well. I won't even mention how much the quality improves with a 0.2 nozzle.

Unfortunately, all the published crafting systems are very reliant on prices. After the End 2 and Monster Hunters Power-Ups 1 have a version of crafting using existing items which works well for gadgeteers, and the latter and Meta-Tech have a method of converting advantages into $ value.

3e is more constrained in a lot of areas, at least in terms of how you interact in a practical manner. Like if you go toe to toe with a Solar, he's more than likely going to beat your ass at actually achieving the goals you set out to do. Realm's peasants obviously have a raw deal compared to modern-day Western world, but they're no worse off than peasants anywhere else in Creation. Which is not great because peasants in general aren't in a great position, but it's not like the Realm's an uniquely or even particularly terrible society for its own. Now, with social Charms a Solar obviously can swing pretty much any mortal to his side, but just starting glowing golden on the Isle and expecting peasants to decide that this guy is cooler than their current lords wouldn't work in the canon setting.

I've been working on a game for about five years and wanted to share it, but I can't seem to upload pdfs anymore. Why is this? I thought /tg/ was the hub for sharing rules systems. A lot of the stuff I played while designing was downloaded from the sharethread, are they also suffering from this?

Fundamentally, that the mechanics are the 'standard fare', combat goes roll+mods vs static+mods, then roll damage (with mods), and I haven't seen anything different from the usual for out of combat stuff.
I know that I'm picky as shit about rpgs, but for my group this would raise the question of... why are we even playing this, and not just taking the setting and using a system that we all already know well?

Everyone I know who watches Fatt Coville videos is a fucking terrible GM. I've never fully watched one and I am widely considered the best GM out of all 3 groups I'm part of. I am regularly requested to run campaigns. People borderline fall asleep in the games others run. There's also no tension because they know that these Coville acolytes will fudge rolls until all PCs survive the battle.

If you're a good GM, it's an inmate talent you can hone over time. You're born that way. If you aren't, then no amount of shitty advice is going to make up for your lack of talent. It just is what it is. This idea that everyone should "try" DMing is retarded. The idea that anyone can be good at it? lolno. Its like some fat divorced on who suddenly decides he's gonna become a famous author. Fat chance. Most people fucking suck at GMing. Hell, most of them suck at playing, but at least in that case the game depends less on them.

Is this an 00s boomer webcomic meme? Of course they do. Sometimes the problem is what it is the players should solve it in game. Sometimes it is an actual issue, but that doesn't mean the DM should be catering to the players' whims. That's like a child being given 100 dollars for a candy shop.
Also, a good DM will simply give out the correct amount. No, what the players want, doesn't really matter. What they want is usually gay and infantile 90% of the time.

If you don't believe in even semi-objective standards for good DMing, regardless of what playoids might want in the moment (again, a child craves to eat all the candy in the world, but the stomachache afterward will make him wish he hadn't), then I can't help you. You'll just reduce everything to subjectivity and use that to justify the mindset that the DM should suck off the players.

I've DM'd for people who bragged about having decades of experience and they ended up being annoying problem players and I've DM'd for first time players who had great instincts and were a lot of fun to play with.

most GM advice is common sense that anyone with social skills and storytelling ability will know.
