>>97391872>there are now old players who have to be caught up with rules changes. Actual factual Agarthan Grogs, of a sort. That would be me. Haven't played in a year or more, and been on and off in the threads. Too many story ideas, not enough actual writing. Would be up for a game sometime soon though.

>>97392319>You really make it sound very unappealing and low effort.I'm not the one who wrote it, but giving it a look over it does seem a touch adjective-heavy.What would people think about something like:>Expedition: Agartha Descent is a fantastical skirmish wargame inspired by Scientific Romances and Pulp literature. Set in the 1880s, it takes place in a bizarre underground world featuring everything from lost Atlantis to the resurrected shade of Emperor Napoleon himself. Explore the underground, build your resources, and fight your opponent on a hex-based map for victory and profit!
So my DND group was kind of disolving, 2 out of the 4 players left because of life issues (one got a job abroad and the other one is dealing with life), to keep playing we incorporated 2 new players with not so much experience but avid watchers of Critical Role. One of these player conditions was that we incorporate x cards to the game, she says that it makes it much more comfortable for her to know she can avoid unpleasant story elements having this tool. I started to read a bit about it online and is this something you guys have used? In my 20 years playing I've never used this.
>>97393888Theater also attracts narcissists. Outside of Shakespearean or period acting which attracts nerds and autists most mainstream theater is full of narcissistic retards that are all about their own success. A lot of the "professional rioters" we see in the US are also theater kids.
>>97379627A lot of west coast nerds are into the bdsm/poly scene because they don't get sex otherwise so I'm not surprised. A lot of nerds are also gay so all the gay sex culture is coming into mainstream rpg stuff now too. The whole consent shit is for hypergamic homosexuals and women who emulate homosexual male culture as a form of empowerment/equality.
>>97394269>A lot of west coast nerds are into the bdsm/poly scene because they don't get sex otherwiseThis is the saddest fucking thing honestly, seeing these Bay Area nerds justify to themselves how polyamory is ackchually rational or whatever so they can get sloppy thirds from the gawkiest looking dork bitches imaginable.
>>97363372Always had it at the table but used it basically once, when we forgot we had "rape" as a line and one player invoked it during a "we're possibly going into rape territory" scene. But we always to lines and veils beforehand and keep the list updated if something comes up during play.

>>97396465You'll need to be more specific about what the "bones" for a BEWD deck looks like, since there have been multiple variants over the years and it ultimately decides whether or not you should just do what the above poster said. Is it a Fusion-focused build? Synchro? Ritual OTK? Rank 8 spam? It's hard to really make a call when we've got nothing to work with.
>>97397024I've played them lots of different ways, but I don't have any new cards from the last five years or so. It seems to me like Chaos Max is still a good contender, so I would probably think to lean into that.
>>97396465They printed new support that replaces 90% of cards bewd used to play, good luck
>>97396480>One of my pet archetypes is outdatedI know how you feel, Anon. The only consolation I have right now is that Skull Servants are sometimes still actually playable.
>>97396480>They aren't going to be viable ever again, are they? Likely.>What could they possibly even give my favorite little dudes that would make them work in today's field?None of their effects are OPT and they benefit from swarming. An easy solution would be to give them any type of modern support that can capitalize on those two facts. The problem is that there is no concrete mechanic that you'll be building towards with them since the battle position related shenanigans pretty much end with Batteryman AA, and the rest of them generally lack a cohesive gameplan among them.Give them a spell that swarms the field with their monsters (by means of Normal Summon since most of their cards want that), and Link Monsters with downward-pointing arrows. Link Monsters might sound like a lazy choice, but it works very specifically for batterymen since you can make that shit diegetic in that the columns it points to are like the terminals you put the batteries into (ignoring the fact that different ones can go in there). You'd also need a boss of course. A Voltech Dragon Xyz retrain that can use one of the link monsters as its full material would suffice to that end, and maybe force it to suck up any monsters it points to (again, downward arrows) so it's not too free.
>the next BBEG in your campaign is a coomer that goes around kidnapping and mind controlling women for his harem, and literally that’s it.Does your party even care? Does your setting/game system even care? Assume that the BBEG is an adequate challenge and difficulty for your setting and party (whether it’s Exalted or DND or Rogue Trader or whatever, and the villain is always the right difficulty level for your party whether you’re lvl 1 or lvl 20 or a weenie or a Solar, the scale is perfect).Basically is this guy a problem you and your crew would want to fix in whatever game you’re playing. If he isn’t, what would it take to make him be a problem? A bigger bounty or reward? A personal friend that got turned into a harem slave?
All you need is to throw an extra layer into it, like maybe he is actually a demon or a dragon, and is physically deforming/transforming them in some way that is permanent and possibly fatal or destructive necessitating more and more to be kidnapped?
>>97395485Honestly, I just find it uninspiring. Some pervert and his harem as the antagonists isn't a fully formed idea to base a campaign around, they're a prettied up enemy unit. And the AI images aren't that impressive either.
>>97396366Oh well. Your party would still stop him anyway.
>>97392676I've got a lewd campaign on hiatus right now, have tried to include guys like him before but none of my players want this particular kink anywhere near the campaign. They will simply refuse to interact and if pressed will treat any hypnosis command as if they were malicious, yandere genies.
>>97392676The BBEG should turn defeated PCs part of the harem. Male PCs get gender bent and impregnated for the ultimate defeat humiliation ritual.
Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. Did you know that in 1999 Dan Abnett did a comic that was basically a wholesale rip-off of 40k except the main character was this vampire lady that he had all the other characters constantly talk about how sexy she was.It had a feudal space Catholic empire that oppressed mutants, and even had elite warriors with implanted organs and cybernetics using weapons called bolters. Later Dan Abnett had the MC tame a bolter warrior with her vampire pussy.
>sexy ladypic not related I suppose?
>>97397414Niggas can't read.
Now that he lost all credit for his scientific accomplishments, what exactly was the point of this guy? Like what purpose did he serve in his own empire?
>>97386602>scientific accomplishments>>You have met them, yes, this Emperor’s deadly new toys? His mutilated half-men and his soulless women, his gilded homunculi and blinded warp-speakers? Do you think them human then? Are they any less monstrous for a shape familiar to the eye? I think not. All this devilry of gene-craft and forbidden alchemy, do you think it somehow clean simply because it is worked by your self-effacing godhead-in-denial? And what ancient broken vault or bloody laboratory-prison did he - most monstrous of all - spring from? Or do you yet believe his whispered lies of immortality and pre-genesis? You would condemn me for my sins of reason and invention, but it is my eyes which see clearly you wish to blind. I damn you; I damn you all to the future hell which you already run to embrace like a lover.
>>97397103>missing the pointyou were wrong, take the L and be fucking ashamed of yourself for pushing lies about history>Mentioning the Senate doesn't make you smarter or more right, because they're irrelevant to the entire argument.Retarded historylet wants to seriously argue that the greatest reason for Augustus's success, which is that he pretended not to be a dictator, is irrelevant. Stupid nigger should be thrown out of any academic institutions you're involved with and any false certificates of learning revoked.
>>97397111Wow, that's terrible writing. Dan Abnett should have stuck to comics.
>>97397252Abnett was telling you that the Emperor's a fraud and a monster since Horus Rising, you just didn't want to see it. The foreign God-Emperor that Horus kills is literally no different from the Emperor of Mankind, he just didn't get to the 'conquering the stars' phase of his master plan to reunite humanity first. Both were convinced they were right and everyone else is wrong, both are hopelessly deluded>The difference is, I know I'm right
>>97397276Nigger I don't give a fuck about your horus heresy lore I just think the writing excerpt you posted sucks ass.

I'm not the biggest fan of it but I don't get the hate either. Comes across as fags just being contrarian or getting mad about the cyberpunk spinoff being anti-authoritarian (who would have fucking guessed?). The system is pretty basic but the artstyle is flashy and introduces people to OSR-adjacent gameplay which helps fund the scene so it's alright in my eyes
>>97396518It's a rice cake that's been dyed black and sprinkled with red salt. Devoid of any real substance, but it is technically a food that you can eat.
Happy for you, if you enjoy it.For myself, I don't see the point. It's a system and setting I could just homebrew in half an hour, which comes in a fancy overpriced package.Something like Vermis makes for a cooelr coffee table book.
For me, it's Blue Rose.

Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. >>97392775t. literally hasn't read the Basic Set(1) Success roll--use 3d, aiming to roll at or under a target number(2) Reaction roll--use 3d, aiming for a high result(3) Damage roll--use Nd, aiming for a high result
>>97394932I guess those last two count, but I wouldn't put them on the same level as the success role.
>>97394849I like this rule because it would also lead to the existence of advantages like weapon master and trained by a master but for things that aren't weapons.>ArchmageTho thinking about it I probably would extend Trained by a Master to also work for physical feats, so if you want to do a triple climb at -18 trained by a master would make this -9
>>97392775It's as complex as you want it to be, all rules are optional.
Is there a gurps index that lists where every single advantage, skill, and gear is located and in what book?

>>97397013I mean I'm not against it. It'd mean that armies traveling down and leaving/entering have to deal with mountains of shit and piss. Lower levels would stink because smells rise but if you're high enough it doesn't really matter. Giant dung beetles, worms, poop mushrooms, lots of options. The trees bring up water but sometimes you get a sick tree where the waste that falls down leaks into the water supply, forcing people to go down and "fix it" somehow. Druids who heal trees too. Druid plumbers sound cool to me.Aesthetically it seems so weird to be walking on the grounds of the Haltan forest city and having to worry about shit and piss raining down on you but I don't know.
>>97396721>How do they bring stuff from the ground to the city above. They answer this actually, pulley elevators operated by trained baboonsAnd they looted the hell out of the First Age cities, they have like twelve magic automatic elevators that work by themselves
>>97397050>Aesthetically it seems so weird to be walking on the grounds of the Haltan forest city and having to worry about shit and piss raining down on you but I don't knowNow you understand why a third of the raksha really hates them.
>These tree-farmers have also domesticated wild ver-sions of the exotic vines that First Age Celestial sorcerers created long ago as a way to provide many Eastern settlements with water. Several thick leafy vines as big around as a human thigh enwrap all the redwoods that support the Haltan dwelling platforms. These vines reach high up into the forest canopy, where they spread large fronds that catch rainwater. In addition, their deep roots draw water up from the ground. The Haltans place metal and wooden taps in these vines and draw off large amounts of potable water. This faintly green, fresh-smelling water is the primary reason that many Haltans ettlements can exist far from rivers and streams. These water vines only grow in the Haltan forest, despite many attempts by outsiders to grow them elsewhere. Also neat, hopefully I didn't fuck up formatting this time
