It's Christmas Yes I know I'm late, shut up a time of mercy and cheer.
SO WHY NOT CELEBRATE WITH THE MOST MERCIFUL MAN IN THE IMPERIUM, THE REDEEMER!?!
I'm going to storytime the entire classic comic. Shout out in the thread if you're reading (especially if it's your first time) and enjoy one of the greatest works of Warhammer 40,000 fiction.

the real problem here is the woman who saw the picture on the box and thought "fun!" and din't fucking inquire further, not with the retailer to find out what was actually in the box, not with anon here to find out if the kid would be interested in a build and paint investment prior to play.

have you ever heard of Blitz Bowl? Would have been better.
But why spending some time before buying something if you can ruin Christmas for everyone involved?

Previous Thread: >>97090196

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.
Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.

I discovered some things relating to it. I am rather sure that it is a kind of demonic script from previous run-ins with demons I have had before. The point where it gets weirder is that the script at the Cabin is older if that is somehow possible. The central word in the example I posted, it's an older word for growing. Only the way it is written in relation to the rest of the sentence frames the growth as "returning" growth. Not new growth of a kind but as if a kind of freeze is being turned off. The last word appears to indicate when it should be happening but it does not indicate where or any other specific signpost for said "returning" growth.

The actual script circle where the corpse was placed, is also rather interesting. As far as I see, while still in the midst of translating, it is composed of two statements. A call and response to something, probably esoteric, but the more interesting facet is that words in the first statement are mirrored in the second statement. Not just linguistically but also physically. It is rather precise and it is puzzling me. Demons, from the score I have run across, can certainly be plotters but their precision tends to be...human-like, for lack of a better word. Nothing like what I am seeing from the circle. I am tempted to try and summon something small, something minor, to question about the circle.

>>
>>97249622
All the folk tales I've heard from them by England just let me know they're dicks and that I shouldn't interact with them. Also, and very importantly, to not be rude lest I be cursed. Down in Florida though, can't say I've seen any or any superstitions though some of the natives swear on the trickster spirits too when they aren't drunk or gambling.
>>97249762
Why is three so important?
>>
>>97249851
Full disclosure about three: no one knows. Catholicism and its various branches will point to religious connotations(father, son, and spirit), I have no idea about other religions. Mystics would emphasis that the action of doing things thrice is a certainty you're impressing upon reality. The more numerology inclined scholars could point to three being a "sacred" prime number though they would struggle to explain the sanctity. Bureaucracy's need for triplicate was for simplicity's sake; one for you, one for their on-site files, and one for the archive. One of the oldest recorded protections against the fairer folk came from the Norse and the Fairest were the only beings that warranted threefold protections out of all their enemies. As one can derive from these examples, and others if one researches, is that three allows for a fortification of form and function. You do things three times because you want it done strong, done right, and done forever.
Four has a similar effect though it seems to be more about empowering in an offensive connotation. You bless your bullets four times, in groups of four, and the ritual will make the damage twice as much no matter their size.

They're good at hiding amongst humans, better than other monsters. They're schemers, cursing their victims insteady of attacking them directly (mostly). For some reason they tend to stay away from places that are associated with order and rationality. Weaknesses? Not much is known, there is a rumor that they're weak to iron weapons but that's yet to be tested. If you kill one make sure to let us know, any method is good as long as it works.

Suggestions for a 1k BoK army so I can "feel" how the army plays before jumping to 2k?
My local bok players only play daemons and the only thing he said is that he think cavalry is op and khorgorath sucks
>>
>>97249652
some models can only fit within the army if others are also present

for example I'd say a maulderfiend is acceptable only if juggernauts are also present, a lord of skulls is acceptable only if there are both juggernauts and skull cannons also present, and angron is an acceptable cameo only if there are at least 2 other bloodthirsters in the army

Moloch's Fun Park Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?

You think I should add Shocktroopers? Is there any other place I should put the glory points as well?

I thought having 2x Yeoman was good flanking units.
>>
>>97249611
Yeomans can't carry on their own, and despite what people think, MHI aren't that great until later on.
Get at least a sniper, and shocktroops to round out the force.
>>
>>97249619
Replace the Yeoman with 2x Shocktroopers and try to get a Sniper? I assume I'll want the Anti Material rifle? (Not sure where it is in the Trench Companion, though I'm on mobile)

Okay, a few observations.
Firstly, unless you’re playing in a game/campaign where Glory is included in your points pool, you can’t field a Combat Biologist. The exception is the Papal States force, which you may want to look at.
Your Lieutenant is kitted out for melee only (his pistol is unlikely to do anything at range and will block you from charging if you fire it). Soloing melee is a good way to get him killed. Give him an assault weapon (automatic pistol, automatic rifle w/bayonet, or SMG) and make sure he has a designated mook to help him.

If you’re playing a campaign, Sniper Priests are a luxury choice at the start. For about the same price you can have two Yeomen with rifle/bayonet which will give you twice the shots and some melee capacity too.

MHI is similar to the Priest, expensive and specialised. Consider cutting one and keeping the other cheap as possible: they make excellent ’distraction carnifex’es because their reputation outshines their ability. In this case I’d keep the MG guy and look to get him in elevated cover ASAP, where he will be very hard to shift without an assault.

Giving your shocktroopers pistols means they can only shoot within basically charge range but then can’t charge. Consider giving them grenades, trench polearms and shields instead.

You need yeomen. Your force is far too small, Black Grail for instance would likely outnumber you three to one. I like to use ‘fire teams’ of yeoman/rifle/bayonet/mask/helmet/std armour and shock trooper/trench polearm/grenades/sheld/std armour/mask/helmet. The yeoman provides covering fire and once the shock trooper gets into melee the yeoman can charge in and back him up.

Give your Lieutenant binoculars. Infiltrate-heavy forces like Naval Raiders will ruin your day if you don’t.

>In the game Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the Garou (werewolves) were made to defend the earth from the cosmic forces that threaten to tear it apart. The Garou fight against the Wyrm, the destroyer. It is a struggle against nearly insurmountable odds, especially considering the rivalry between many tribes. These rivalries make it almost impossible for the werewolves to present a unified front against a cosmic force that pervades reality.
>From this morass of hatred and mutual betrayal, there is little hope that the Garou can emerge triumphant against a foe so well armed as the Wyrm. The Wyrm promises money, power, sex, and whatever else the heart desires to its followers while the Garou receive no reward for their striving. It drives them deeper and deeper into despair, or into betrayal so deep that they choose to serve the Wyrm instead.

So, my Rogue has a backstory where her mother was a witch-healer. She became an orphan forcing herself to become a rogue to survive instead. However, I'd like to integrate the healing bits, most likely making her naturally good at using the thread and needle to suture wounds and a bit of incomplete herbalist knowledge. The idea is make a healer-killer duality. Should she know some bit of magic too? What's the best way to incorporate the healing part?

Healer is a pretty great feat on Thief Rogue specifically, since it enables you to use the feat as a bonus action for some quick first-aid.

Why would they be Jewish? Dwarves are strong warriors and laborers who created massive tunnels and holds and fine artisans.
Jews are a culture whose entire history is spend as vagabonds moving from host country to host country. Jews have never been known artisans of skilled tradesman or involved in labor. The only comparison you can make with dwarfs is the "gold" motiff, but this is a weak basis to compare them to Jews, because most cultures love gold. Celts, Aztecs, Vikings, Romans, etc. everyone loves gold. If anything Jews "gold" has never actually been hoarding actual treasure but aquiring wealth is less straightforward means, ie. usury banking, coin clipping, etc.

No, anon. However, if I'm having an in-character discussion, I'm obviously playing a roleplaying game, because roleplaying games aren't actually baseball, IC discussions are a part of them, and the only context where I'd ever have such a discussion is that of RPGs. It's fine to try to make your point through an anaolgue, but it'd help if you used something actually analogous with what we're talking about.

okay
So when you're having fake conversations and listening to story time between combat and exploration, it definitely isn't like listening to presentations on past baseball players in the middle of the inning. Because interrupting and delaying gameplay isn't interrupting and delaying gameplay.
If the term "game" doesn't apply to an activity, don't call it a game, you fucking ESL or zoomer retard.

But that aside, you can roleplay without in-character discussion. You don't even need to have out-of-character discussion to roleplay; all decisions you make for your character represent behaviors of someone who isn't you.
So while you're trying to assert that adopting a role is the only way to roleplay, I'll just remind you yet again that there's more than one way to roleplay, and each way to do it is more time-efficient than the last, allowing the people who are there for an actual game to get back to the game more quickly.
You won't get it, though, because you just want to turn game time into faggot storytime where everyone just makes retarded fake voices at each other, and doesn't actually play games.

Fucking nogames, go to Hell.

Does anyone else feel like the Byzantine Empire is the closest thing human-kind had to an Elven civilization analogy during our actual history's middle ages? Or am I crazy?

Even the part where their highly advanced culture was eventually wiped off the face of the Earth and forgotten in most normie perceptions of history.
