The number of far right shitbags that talk big but will never do anything is most of them. The number of radicalized muslims actually willing to do something terrible is way higher than you could ever imagine.Despite what the media tells you, Islamic extremism IS a worse problem than far right extremism.
>>97269984There is no such thing as Islamic extremism. The correct term would be Islamic fundamentalism. Islam is basically the inversion of every other major religion today, where the people going out and committing atrocities to people of other faiths are the ones that are actually interpreting their faith properly and behaving as intended, and the people who are trying to not do that are the ones twisting the messages of their faith to suit their worldview. It's the kinda shit you usually only ever see in cults.

What are some of your experiences with BRP or mythras? Favorite stories, characters, or supplements? I generally like running pulp or horror campaigns. Funniest story setup was how my players thwarted a small series of adventures I planned before it even started.>Players role up an old priest, a journalist, and basically fred from scooby doo. >Investigating a series of murders and disappearances. >Get captured thesmelves and wind up in a rundown factory converted to sort of look likea victorian mansion.>Meet an obvious vampire who uses them for basic company and conversation before planning to kill them.>My players escape, the frail priest manages to full nelson the vampire, and the other players manage to use a stake to kill him. It ended what I planned to be a multi session adventure in one night. It was a lot of lucky roles and ended up with being funny.
Is there any major difference between Mythras and Mythras Imperative?
>>97268961Quite a few actuallyImperative is broadened and highly simplied While regular mythras is designed for fantasy settings from a tech level range of paleolithic all the way to late renaissance and napolnicBut assumes classical era bronze/Iron Age most of the time Also way more shit to play with about five diffent magic systems you can chose to include or exclude entirelyAnd a complete combat effects system Imperative is really a wide vertical slice that is missing a lot of shit though it has rules from a few supplements It even has a heavily simplified version of the supers rules present in the standalone game destined If you want sci fi stuff I would reccomend giving Luther Arkwright a spin
>>97269029>If you want sci fi stuff I would reccomend giving Luther Arkwright a spinThere's also M-Space for sci-fi mythras.
>>97269029You seem like you're a knowledgeable fellow so sell me on MythrasBonus points if you outline its biggest flaws too

(i have had to homebrew around that)>Focus on simulationism even more than other d100 games might feel overly constraining.>it is more of a toolkit system as far as magic is concerned especially.>piles a lot on the gm to get it running properly.>character creation is kinda flawed and deigned towards making you mediocre at 5-10 things.Generally a lot of constrains when creating characters feels like an over correction more than anything. >Combat style is inherently superior to other combat skills like evade, endurance and willpower which are your resistances>action point system is kinda gamey and hardlocks you a little bit into mostly defending if numerically disadvantaged >lack of gm advice and procedures for dungeoncrawling, hexploration, sandbox play even if it was large part of the oldschool d100systems with settings like griffin island, especially considering that all the tools for such a style of play are there and the d100 is probably the only other game that can do that as well as the osr>armor is a little weaker than it should be.>the way xp rolls are gained is just worse and more gamey than the other organic ways used in d100 systemsComment too long. On the spectrum of rubber forehead aliens to complete starfish aliens that are made out of silica and breathe methane, where are YOU specificially comfortable with. Does there come a point where an alien becomes too weird for you to "relate" to in order to include them in your games as playable races?Personally I am fond of aliens that look plausibly like they could have evolved in a different world and have no distinguishable lineage to earth life, even if they share some superficial features.
>>97265308yeah, that's about the goldilocks zone of alien-ness i'm more inclined towards. though in all RPGs I run I prefer a human or human-like majority party which leaves room for one oddball that pushes it
>>97264811Should have made them with two pairs of tits (the long torso could clearly accomodate that) ... would have been waaay cooler.
In my book, any kind of alien can work, so long as their tech level is believable. While the Birrin feel like they've been designed with features that only exist for weirdness' sake, it's the natural way their biological quirkiness is presented in mundane scenarios that make them work. It's when an extremely animalistic-looking species has quirks that feel wholly unsuited for using the technology they have that starts to feel weird. Either the tech needs to feel ergonomic for them, or they need to show visible difficulty using it. Despite all this, it's pretty easy to handwave how an alien can use what it's got if it has tentacles. The game Endless Space 2 has a lot of atypical aliens, like cephalopods forced onto land (Niris), sentient Amoeba gestalt consciousnesses and tardigrade meteorologists (Kalmat), not even mentioning the ones from other dimensions, though many are the result of meddling from another advanced civilization in their development. They might have a single text box worth of exploration into their culture for you to read as the start of a quest, and a civic project you can enact relating to integrating them into your culture. I think the biggest issue I have is the annoying number of the races (especially the major ones) with very cybernetic looking "default" features, and it makes it feel way too on the nose that they were messed with by the titular Endless. Still, I really hope we get something like Star Control for the franchise at some point to more closely explore all the novel ideas the game presents on the macro level. Been thinking to maybe add some elements from the games to a Stars Without Number campaign.

I would like to talk about the Chronicles of Darkness game line Deviant: The Renegades, or more specifically, one major upcoming supplement. Deviant was released in late 2021, and has had three additional sourcebooks since then. A new supplement, Black Vans, has been in playtesting for a while, and is currently being previewed.I am not being paid or sponsored to promote this book in any way. I am just very fascinated by it, and indeed, I already ran a mini-campaign using the playtest material.Deviant is, by default, a game about playing angsty, scarred superheroes who either fight world-manipulating conspiracies or work for them. Black Vans is a toolkit full of variant rules, quick NPC creation, variant character types, and variant genres. These variants range from the minor to the dramatic, completely overhauling what were once non-negotiable, foundational themes and mechanics. Maybe your character is not angsty or scarred at all, perhaps they are a """""regular human""""" like John Wick or Batman, or the campaign might have nothing to do with world-manipulating conspiracies. These variant genres include cyberpunk, high fantasy, post-apocalypse, space opera, and superhero emergence. This is a beefy supplement. For example, one chapter alone dedicates 38,000+ words to playing other monsters of the Chronicles of Darkness: Beasts, changelings, demons, Sin-Eaters, hunters (entirely separate from the variant rules for """natural""" superpowers), mages, mummies, Prometheans, vampires, and werewolves. No additional supplements beyond Deviant are necessary; the rules are self-contained, allowing the group to play a monster mash of an urban fantasy setting without needing a daunting 7+ books. And yes, they are supposed to be balanced against one another, so a vampire in the same group as a full-fledged mage is probably some older Kindred.(Continued.)

>>97270010>>97270035>>97270040thanks a bunch!Couple more things, does the game... "flow" well? Is there always different things to do, or is it the usual "activate my strongest unit and shoot the enemy's unactivated strongest unit"? And can you snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, or if some random bad stuff happens early on, you are just in for 90 minutes of losing right from the start? And how does the game feel on the table, I mean... most games I have played are on the skirmish level and have that feeling of "this guy is behind this barrel so he gets a cover bonus, meanwhile this guy is aiming for an extra to hit bonus", from the couple of games I have seen SWL is a more "high level" with entire units doing things - which could be fine, but I am worried about the "granularity" of the game... like... like the units being sort of abstracted with the "only move the squad leader" and "everyone does the same thing" and the other models in a unit basically being tokens, window dressing, if that makes sense? This is one of my pet peeves with 40k, it is a game where the models "don't matter", it feels like in 40k you could draw a couple of blobs/rectangles on paper and just precisely position/measure them in a way to maximize your shots without really having to put models on the table. Especially with competitive table setups it boils down to geometry and math...
>>97268071The Sith vault within the Jedi Temple, whatever happened there?
>>97270346>does the game flow wellIn my experience, as long as the result of the game isn't a foregone conclusion, absolutely. Playing Legion is almost constant tension, action, rolling, planning and reacting. Every activation can change the state of the game, requiring you to adjust your plans. The only down time in Legion is when your opponent is thinking and when you're moving filler units.>And can you snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, or if some random bad stuff happens early on, you are just in for 90 minutes of losing right from the start? You can, definitely. I recently had a game where my opponent killed most of my army, but I managed to win by knocking one of his b1 squads off an objective in the last activation. Or, winning with exactly 1 b1 on the board because I scored more on turns 2-4.>other models in a unit basically being tokens, window dressingNope, where you put your non-leader minis does matter. For one, only minis that can draw line of sight to an enemy can shoot them. Two, you can bodyblock enemy squads and vehicles by spreading out your squads. Furthermore, enemy can only kill as many minis as they can see in their shooting attacks, so hiding your boys can limit enemy killing power.

>>97265462I've seen people run Mario Kart with it. Ironically, I think races are what Gaslands is worst at, because rarely does anyone actually finish the race. It's a huge collision clusterfuck right at the start, then weapons come online and the idea of actually racing goes out the window. >>97269328I largely found the opposite. Races had several viable approaches including smashing everything immediately, dashing to the first gate and opening fire, and racing off into the sunset. Deathmatch games don't give much hope to light, speedy teams. Flag Tag mostly went too far the other way as a couple of buggies could usually rush some flags while a heavier team had barely got started. And Saturday Night Live was hugely sponsor dependent.
