I’m not the anon you were talking to. I was just curious about it since it’s not the first time I’m hearing about it here and I wanted to finally check it out.

Personally I would have made it that it creates an item instead. A cloak that initially consumes around 3 points of vitae just to don it and change, and probably excludes you from any vampiric discipline except the physical ones. Unless you made a pact with a (wyrm) spirit. While in garou form you can walk under the sun, but it costs an additional blood point each night to keep the coat on. And you can’t recover vitae while in the guise of a garou.

I honestly don't understand why would someone include the SI unless they're really into V5 (somehow) or they want a threat that's powerful but isn't technocracy
>>
>>97234852
So the Gangrel are so bestial because they inherit a little of the Fera nature of the Garou who ate Ennoia? Makes sense.
>>
>>97234973
>>97235018
This would would probably be something that could be expanded on if WoD wasn't afraid of cross splatting, but it's pretty restrictive and not exactly something I think Tremere need on top of having 15 different things making them unique. Would be pretty funny as thinblood alchemy ofr very advanced chimerstry or Vicissitude
Arguably I'd also you wouldn't have sufficient understanding of lupine nature without getting a spirit to inject some gnosis in you but that's just me making it harder than it needs to be.
>>
>>97234715
>Xe thinks the gang will hunt the woofs after D says they're fighting a noble cause but are just retarded
They'll resolve things semi-peacefully until Ross or some racist Garou shows up and they're in for it.

Guys, I want to talk about HELLPIERCERS. I bought this game a bit ago because I thought it looked cool, and I've read it, and I don't know enough people weird enough to play it with me, and I can't stop thinking about it, and I just have to talk about it with someone.

>First up: what the fuck is Hellpiercers? And why do you spell it in all-caps? Do you have autism?
HELLPIERCERS is a tactical tabletop RPG developed by SandyPug Games alongside a few people who did some dev work on some of the Lancer supplements. It casts the PCs as gnostic demigod heroes and veterans of the War in Heaven, who aided the forces of humanity in regaining their stolen gnosis and slaying the Demiurge, his Archons, and angelic generals. Having conquered Heaven and liberated the mortal plane from the tyranny of false divinity, they now cast their eyes downward, into Hell, where countless human souls remain enslaved by the demon lords below. Hellpiercers, armed with their god-slaying weapons, clad in armor forged from the corpses of angels, lead a war of liberation against the forces of Hell, to free the enslaved souls of every human who has ever lived.

I spell it in all-caps because it's title is rendered in all-caps. I'm pretty sure I'm not autistic, but I've never been tested, so who even fucking knows?
>>
>>97235095
>That didn't answer my question, faggot. What the fuck is this game?
HELLPIERCERS is a grid-based tactical tabletop RPG where you not only control an elite strike team of demigod heroes in battle with the forces of Hell, but also control the whole course of the war against the demon lords. Play is divided into three phases: RECON (reconnaissance), wherein PCs explore humanity's forward operating base in the City of Dis, plunging the depths of its catacombs and ancient, chthonian passages in search of knowledge, power and treasure (and also some journeying outside of Dis sometimes), STRATCOM (strategic command), wherein the players take a commander's view of the progress of the war, charting a course through the hostile terrain of Hell, marking objectives, spending resources to build new buildings and fortifications to unlock new subsystems and powers for the PCs, and attempting to predict and outmaneuver their enemies, and TACCOM (tactical combat), which is mechanics-dense, grid-based tactical combat a la D&D4E, Lancer, BEACON or ICON, where the goal is to destroy your enemies, push the frontlines of the war forward and capture resources to use to your advantage.
>>
>>97235099
>So the PCs get to be crazy-strong DOOM Guys. How the fuck does the GM get to have fun?
In STRATCOM and TACCOM, the GM plays the role of the forces of Hell, three demon lords chosen at the beginning of the campaign (it's assumed that the ones who go unchosen were defeated by the others before the game started; demons fucking hate each other) with their own factions, their own unique units, their own upgrades and special terrain. The PCs gotta beat all three of them to complete the liberation of humanity, and they have to whittle away at the resources of whatever demon lord they're fighting this time, often crossing swords with the demon lord's generals and sometimes even the demon lord themselves, before they can have the big, bombastic final battle in the demon lord's stronghold to take that faction off the map. This creates its own sort of pacing, because taking the fight to one demon lord necessarily means ignoring the others, who can use that time to get access to stronger and stronger units and fortifications and solidify their position on the board, so they'll keep pace with all the new tools the PCs get along the way. It ensures that the last demon lord they fight will always be the strongest one, because they've had the most opportunity to establish their power base while they were being left alone.

All the while, the GM is also building up resources, having the demon lords use them to construct their special facilities and activate apocalyptic rituals to always keep the players on their toes. I like the one where the demon lord takes Mars as their new headquarters and can just attack the FOB if they feel like it, almost as much as I like the one that just puts a fourth demon lord into play.

>Okay, that does actually sound pretty cool. Where do I get it? Also, if you post a link, you're a paid shill and need to buy an ad and kill yourself.
I'm not gonna do your fucking homework for you. You have a name. That's good enough for Google.

>Why make this waste of a thread in the first place?
I don't know. I got it on a lark and happened to think it was pretty cool, but HELLPIERCERS is a pretty small game and no one's really talking about it. I want to talk about it.

They need to slow the game back down to get a grip on the power creep. I'm not sure how viable that is at this point, though. A total reset wouldn't be popular.

I have bad news for you. Turns out this shit doesn't work when the same design issues just come back in the next cycle. They've basically turned into a banlist managed format now and "waiting for the rotation" isn't viable. The system only sounds good on paper and doesn't translate in practice.
Fun fact: This year MTG standard is tied for the most banned cards in a year in it's history and people are feeling the need for more right now!

Burning Sagas is getting digital version, is it any good or just baby's first war game?
>>
>>97234730
It is on my shelf, I do very much enjoy it for what it is.
In saying that the answer to your question is complicated. Moeller was an mtg artist as a career for a long time and is still afaik a newer designer. His approach so far has been riffing ideas from minis wargaming rules and adapting them. Burning Banners was different but that's because it was riffing directly on Divine Right.

It is overly simple to the point the base game would be unplayably boring if not for the artwork and scale. But take the rules system and put it on a normal map with normal art and no one would bother, it's wargamevault slop tier rules
Now add in the advanced rules and it becomes more interesting but also more clumsy, more chaotic and unpredictable, and much more slow. The game is unplayable at 4p because its just so dull and so slow
Compare it to beginner wargames like Simonitich's Salerno, and you have something still very easy, still very rewarding if you practice and try, and has enough nuance to the rules that it isn't just checkers to other games' chess
If the price isn't right I don't feel its worth it. And honestly at the price I paid for the physical, I wish it was just paper maps and 1/4 of the price because it was like 150cad which was dumb as fuck considering the gameplay is 6/10 at best
Do I still like it and think its worth playing ,sure. And ill probably buy the exp. But if a competitor came along and made a version with an experienced designer who had a creative approach to getting a bit more out of the game, it would absolutely push BBs shit deeply in

If you put Wish on your weapon, do you only get the one wish you make with its first use, or can you make a different wish every time?
>>
>>97234960
There's a couple of Arcane options. I think a feat and two PRCs (Spellsword and another one that has the coolest fucking name IIRC).
That said, slashing fuckers with Lava Missile and Shivering Touch is pretty cool.
>>
>>97234975
The spell discharges after the first hit.
It also lingers in the weapon for 8 hours so you can prebuff that shit and not even have to use a move action.

>>97234960
Now think that with a Belt of Battle you can have a couple of extra move actions a day.
Not the best use of the item, but in certain situations that combination can come in handy.
>>
>>97234960
I'm assuming you can't stack multiple spells on your weapon at once, but can you put different spells on multiple weapons at the same time?
Basically, can you pre-load a bunch of swords with weapons, take quick draw, and machine gun them over the course of a battle like single-use boomsticks?
>>
>>97235081
Sadly, no.
You can only one weapon "channeled" at a time.
The spell does last 8 hours so you can get at least one off each battle without having to use a move action.

I'd advise being careful while approaching the body - it may be a ghoul left over from the Palatine, with explosives in their abdomen, or some other sort of suicidal saboteur. Not likely, but also not impossible, as of late.

Done. Please fly us both to Rome (Fiumicino) in the night between the 26th and 27th, the earliest possible flight from NYC (JFK airport). We fly back home the night after, again as early as kindredly possible.

We have Mercury Lamp's dolls on the case. The problem with such high caliber rounds is that there isn't much of a body left, I've seen trains being more gentle.
Here's what I'm allowed to share for the time being: it was a group of five males. One had a large Schwarze Sonne tattooed on his pectoralis major. Another had glass fragments of what were once 2 or 3 vials in his pocket, one crudely labeled "FENT", again we can't test this as they were broken and contaminated by one another and blood. What's left of them reeks of alcohol.

Did this Palatine ghoul, embrace, care for, recruit from, organize, or had any connection whatsoever with neo-nazis and/or people involved in the fentanyl trade?
Uncle The Devil Wears Me is walking back and forth the hallway, cane in both hands, ranting about some "zevel levan."
Then again we deal with so many stupid people as of late, I can't even exclude the asshole thought the black sun was just a cool symbol, like your average American with a T-shirt with a Buddha, Om or Che Guevara on it.

Can't they be just clueless biomass who had a case of fuck around and find out, just because this one night the house was quieter than usual?

It's an online thing especially with this game.
>people also really love to ignore the concept of a DM existing when arguing over RAW
Oof, this is true.
>>97233913
The party was shaking in their boots, but I think the essential DM skill is to push the party to their limits, show them the cliff, and then tell them 'Start climbing, here is your rope'.
>>97233936
>the combat is balanced around an extremely particular rhythm that many DMs/players don't enjoy
Having run 4e, it is not actually disimilar to 3.5 unless you run 5+ combats in a 'work day'. The only people I have seen truly object to it are people who do not want to do any kind of resource tracking.
>>97234121
>If you had a Skeletal Nightmare animated with Nimble Bones do you think it would bake sense for the flight speed to go up in a ratio wiht the ground speed?
By RAW, no, because land speed and flight speed are hard separated. I'd say, in my discretion, yeah, do it, it's metal.

> creatures of enormous intelligence
they are not though. Its like people talk a lot about them but never actually look at the creature's entry.

An Old dragon has an Int score of 14. A mere 3 higher than your average old human man.
A dragon has to survive to the age of a Wyrm, to get to int 18 and qualify for a STEM PhD in the 1950s when that actually meant something.

Dragons are well rounded in their mental stats, which means they can usually figure out the how(Int) and the why (Wis) and the have the Cha to actually act on their thoughts and that makes them more than decent in everything.

But they don't hit genius level until CR 20

btw, one should also consider their Charisma in the same light. People over hype that too Find your example of Cha 18, 'force of personality' person in the real world. The most ambitious leader you know. An Old dragon is going to be half way between that guy and the average guy.
>>
>>97234937
What about reds and greens? Aren't they brainiacs?
>>
>>97234937
Using your milestone (Old), literally all other dragons have 16+ on all mental scores (some even hit 20s).
Juvenile Golds, Silvers, Bronzes... all three are genius-level by all measures of human intelligence.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

A few times, if it fits the concept (or if I like the character art) I have no issue playing a female character, or seeing another dude playing one. As long as no one does a falsetto voice or goes full fetish-magical realm once had a player making a slutty elf priestess who had an orc sex slave and flirted with everyone, pure cringe, ruined the campaign and I don't get why the GM accepted it.
I mean, some of my preferences can probably be found in some of the female characters I made, but I never had negative feedback on them in game. Last female characters I recall were:
>Shadow of the Demon Lord: housemaid/slave turned rogue working for a criminal syndicate. Ended up liking the freedom it brought to her, but lost her morals along the way, alongside finding a sadistic side to her, as if taking a revenge on the world
>Curse of Strahd: Eberron Shifter looking for her child kidnapped by werewolf, very much turned maternal instinct up to 11. could have worked as a badass dad too I guess, but I felt like it was better if it was a mother
>Pathfinder: Witch raised by a sea hag, maladjusted for society and prone to subtly cursing those who wronged the group.

I don't like the general discourse in TTRPG or writing community than men & women should be written the same; especially in historical (or not) settings that put an emphasis on gender & societal rules, it should influences the character worldview and interactions.

On the other hand, I didn't see women play much male character in TTRPG. Just once I had one making a tiefling dude who was fairly normal and griefstricken by his wife death, pretty decent backstory and roleplay on her part. Heard some horror stories here and there but never witness anything myself

In my experience they are almost always drama queen fags that have to make every session about their character, but they give great post session blowjobs so I keep a few around at all times.

I'm the GM for the group, so I often end up doing it. It's whatever, though the 'funny' voice I do for it ain't great

Would love to share some YTers I like to use for inspiration. Looking for anyone you find helpful. Preferably smaller creators and not restricted to 5e. I’ll submit three that I really enjoy while I’m doing prep

First I’ll submit is Desk and Dorks. The channel is made by a medieval historian and combines his knowledge of subjects to enhance games.

I particularly like his take on Bronze Age fantasy and building better town guards

I hope not. Chekhov’s gun just makes foreshadowing more obvious, which might be a good choice depending on your audience, but the payoff comes from the story itself.

Joy of Wargaming. He's more wargame focused but he does RPG content too. Most of his wargaming has a RP aspect to it since he plays solo.
He approaches gaming the way I do, cheap & cheerful and he's doing his own thing not giving a fuck.

I like him, made a very entertaining AD&D solo game that was also pretty useful in showcasing procedures.

This mirrors my experience with women at the table.
Tends to buy in to the characterization and storytelling more, and less in to the numbers or the 'adventure'. However, the worst, most disruptive players I've had were also women, because they will go all in on psychotic concepts, but also fall apart when you sternly tell them to stop being such a fuckwit at the game table because they wanted to eat/rape an elf baby.

If you're paying attention to games you are not paying attention to us. That's not acceptable.

This.
Most women, when they aren't drunk on radfem koolaid, really like being cute, doing cute things, and having cute stuff.
Ask a random woman you are friendly with how many plushies she owns. 7/10 will have at least one.
>>
Women just longhouse the group into avoiding adventure and doing retarded "comfy" rp

There's a difference between liking pink things and doing what the OP pic is doing.

His whole argument comes down to saying "If I were a demon I couldn't be afraid of ritual warding." Therefore ritual costumes are people dressing up AS the monster instead of warding it away.

I've been inspired by Dwarf Fortress recently and like the idea of elves being the total nature related race (nothing new here), but part of that includes not using any metal tools or weapons; instead using magically formed wood or bone or whatever else. I'm just not sure if it really fits the "high elf" aesthetic of being masters of various crafts or if it's too unrealistic.

This thread makes me wish I had plans to play an elf pc at some point soon, but it will be months before I can do so.
I have 1 human, 1 dwarf, 1 dhampir lined up, unless one of them dies.
... anyone got a pic of a fire magic using elf? Not too flashy in garb?
