>Halflings to do the farming
>Dwarves to do the smithing and mining
>Gnomes to do the researching
>Elves to do magic
>Humans to do the fighting (and thus, the ruling)
This seems the obvious perfect order to things. Humans don't want to be the peasant farmers, we want to be the knights and lords, but somebody has to farm, somebody has to smith, etc. Why not have the other races do the menial peasant stuff that they specialize in anyways?

Only psychopaths want to fight and rule. And then the peasant revolts happen and the leaders undergo humiliation rituals that forever emasculate their legacy. Deserved end.

If elves do magic, they're the ones ruling, you humies are just going into the mobic cube for your magical overlords.

Trying to explain making a character to a friend who has never played.

The best way to think about is:

- strength (and constitution) is for melee weapon classes like fighter and barbarian
- charisma is for sorcerer, paladin, cleric, and bard
- intelligence is for wizard
- wisdom is for ranger and druid
- dexterity is for rogue
But you can choose other classes in whichever sourcebooks! You can always multiclass later on and this is recommended if you want to minmax for certain battle roles.
The manual roll method is when you roll 4d6 per attribute then remove the die with the lowest result, which means you can get anywhere from 3 to 18 in any attributes—but most dungeon masters allow for rerolls of extremely low results. You can also try the standard array but you won't get high results; it just creates an even character that will survive the first few sessions better than a glass cannon or low stat character.

On the spectrum of rubber forehead aliens to complete starfish aliens that are made out of silica and breathe methane, where are YOU specificially comfortable with. Does there come a point where an alien becomes too weird for you to "relate" to in order to include them in your games as playable races?

Personally I am fond of aliens that look plausibly like they could have evolved in a different world and have no distinguishable lineage to earth life, even if they share some superficial features.

>>
>>97250408
Presumably the exact age would be cultural, like it is with humans (there really isn't any specific biological reason why it's not OK to have sex with a 17 years old but it is OK with an 18 years old, 18 just happens to be the number we've decided on as being old enough to have the necessary mental and physical development to definitely count as an adult). Probably whatever age they reach sexual maturity plus a year or two to make sure.

I had to check which thread I was even in. Jesus Christ, this board is depressing.

For what it is worth, I do intend to run an Alpha Centauri RPG someday, I frequently use elements from Alpha Centauri in the RPGs that I do run, and I make a point of playing the vidya at least twice a year.

For example, in Mage: the Ascension, I had Morgan and Yang show up as competing Technocratic directors (Syndicate and NWO, of course). Morgan was more willing to negotiate with the PCs, because he was confident his philosophy would outcompete theirs in the marketplace of ideas, given enough time.

A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, Open Combat, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, SAGA, StarCraft, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void,
Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenos Rampant, Xenotactics...

>it's a bunch of thousand-plus year old elves banging human women in their 50s and 60s.
This was one of the more interesting and amusing things in Interspecies Reviewers. Elves actually enjoyed being with humans, but only if they were older, like 50 or 80 years old. Older the better, usually. This was due to elves (and other magically inclined races) being able to immediately tell a person's mana, which apparently has a sort of taste to it.

This is inverted for humans, who are essentially "mana-blind". Cue many situations where the human reviewer goes after very old elves and has a good time, but everyone else is absolutely fucking disgusted by it because an old elf's mana is very gross.

As far as a I know only 4 color of Oni was described in historical source. I checked this site and it either refer to itself or send you to Chinese Wikipedia site that is hardly a good source. If you want to learn something about Oni I recommend reading books about Yokai, "The book of Yokai. Mysterious Creatures of Japanese Folklore" by Michael Dylan Foster is a good example mostly because it have a big list of reference how and from where data was collected.

You should ALWAYS cheese every encounter. If you EVER end up in a situation that even remotely resembles a fair fight, just run away and wait until you can rig the situation to your favor.

Use your fucking brain. Even if it is highly improbable for you to lose a given fight, statistically speaking, you'll still eventually croak if you keep taking those bets. Don't leave it up to chance. It's easier than you might think, you just need to use your noggin. It's not a video game. You can do whatever the fuck you want.

Just the other night my party ran into a melee monster in a narrow ass room that they for some reason decided to ram their dicks into until someone died. When I suggested that we retreat for a bit and lure it into the room with the big ass statues so we can all just climb them and shoot it to death, they looked at me like I just escaped from the looney bin. They all died of course.

Character death is not a big deal. Making the game boring because you're avoiding any sort of risk is. I play games for fun, and your strategy is terrible for that.

>>
>>97252770
There's an enormous gap between, "don't fight battles you can't possibly win" and "never fight a battle unless you can't possibly lose".
Regardless, there are plenty of reasons why a person might stay in a fight they can't win, from stupidity to ideals. Besides which it doesn't matter whether my character would want to or not because they aren't actually a real person and have no say. If I think it'd be more fun for them to go out in a blaze of glory then they shall.
>>
This is assuming it's possible to disengage or escape without increasing the risk or putting yourself in a worse situation, i.e. split up and with half the party unable to disengage from what is now 2:1 odds of defeat. If your DM just roleplays enemies like dragonquest slimes that won't even try to strategise against you and just let you escape then it's only natural to abuse that, I suppose.

Why were so many of the "OG" game designers insufferable faggots? It seems like the vast majority of game designers from the 70s and 80s were self-obsessed dickheads who openly hated and looked down on their customer base. There were obviously exceptions, and some like Gygax would go on to regret and apologize for it, but still, what made so many "professionals" back then such fags?

Pic related: WFRP author James Wallis's response to a letter criticizing how railroaded The Enemy Within campaign was.

Describe your character without mentioning their class, their stats, or their name. In fact, answer the following questions about the last character you played:

1) What does the character have in their pockets/purse?
2) What does your character do on a Sunday?
3) What was the best birthday gift the character received?
4) What does the character think about the policies of the mayor/leader of the community?
5) What is the character's handwriting like?
6) What is the character's favorite color?
7) What tics does the character have when they need to sit still for a while?

NTA, but I don't think they insinuated the respective man was "gay" so much as the man had feminine traits, and that on some genetic level, they were seeking out someone with more dominant traits to produce more capable offspring.
Sounds like a neat theory, but it falls apart under scrutiny. Trying to isolate preferred traits in a complementary partner for one offspring or the other isn't a guarantee for success. You're just as likely to generate a masculine female or an effeminate male, depending on how the genes are distributed, which is, of course, random between the two parents.

Rather, I would argue humans seek partners that are viable for breeding. Muscular girls fall into that basket (the same way as thin and mildly plump girls to). Some outliers are attracted to midgets and BBWs, but those extreme cases are statistical noise, relatively speaking.

Fairly shallow, got a bunch of random bits from mostly Heresy kits and then some.
