It takes the army only 30 minutes of walking before they hear the horns of the opposing bandit army. Quickly, both sides size each other up and form into proper units. But neither side makes a first move as they wait for their leaders to discuss terms.

Lord Howler found himself getting unusually disoriented. Normally it's impossible for him to lose his way, even in his feral form, almost as if the forest itself is warping around him as he walks.
>Wolf halfsoul, Stand.
Skogsrå speaks out with her ethereal voice from everywhere at once and Howler pauses mid stride. She then lifts herself from the ground to confront him directly.

Got some neat offgens with this - https://files.catbox.moe/ih9cu9.jpg
Sort of a filler spot here, but figured I'd move it along. Skog see's the werewolf isn't human, so he doesn't qualify under the approved rules of engagement. Whether the fae speech works on him or not isn't clear.

This is a second OSRG, seperate from the main osrg thread, where you CAN talk about 2e, retroclones, and any osr content you want.
This is different than the regular osrg as due to rampant trolling from a handful of bad actors, discussion is impossible.

its honestly great this game manages to filter both the 40kiddies and warhammer fantacels so hard

keeps the community really high quality and fun. every piece of shit that gets caught in the filter is one less piece of shit we dont have to worry about at our tables
>>
>>97206655
Might be my favorite part of aos. All the /v/secondaries and drama grifters get caught at the door and leave the actual community super positive and a treat to deal with. I thinkn ve ran into more mtg chuds in the past decade than anyone into aos whose a grifterfag and they're supposed to be the most "woke" or whatever.
>>
>>97206649
warhammer abandoned being a hobby and is just consoommaxxing from WAACfaggots nowadays, you pooskins hardly paint your minis, you don't build terrain you just slap down "L" (Loser!) shape styrofoam and call it a day, you abandon your grey tides and stop using models you paid for because a company arbitrarily keeps them out of the new book so you have to consoom the next shitty dogshit that gets slapped down in front of you, and you all worship some daddy issue faux-MCU faggotry because you bingbing wahoo'd over some sloppy shit like endgame and now you can consoomaxx while playing super heroes in your dogshit table top faggotry

both games are pretty bland, they didn't go back to a good fantasy edition
>>
>>97206684
>they didn't go back to a good fantasy edition

there was no good edition of fantasy. even the best edition still spend 250 pages telling you how to move 5 rectangles and count the number of identical tin soldiers within them.

>>97206684
>uhm okay so maybe fantasy isn't more popular in even a single metric but the people I don't like play it!
Both of these pics are pulled from /wfg/>>97206609, you want to cry about paintlets and greyriders but your game has had 40 years and I've seen more unpainted armies for wfb proportionally than any other wargame including other companies games. I think you could go into /awg/ and find more examples proportionally of painted quar, or warmahordes, or even malifaux/zombicide

Honestly my issue with harem leads is simply if they are boring. Bastard!!! is great because Schneider is what it says on the tin. He's an actual dude and so there's a story to women liking him, same as women liking some other plot-aggrandizing character like Batman (though I hate batman). Maybe if I deep-dove into the dime a dozen isekai harems there'd be more character to them but they seem so blank slate (or are sadistic revenge fantasies).

>>97205560
People can like and fawn over pure power-fantasy characters but there's some alchemy that makes it so it's not just
>This is an unstoppable badass don't you wish you where him
I remember seeing some youtube video random jackass explaining how to write that kind of a character (the white haired jujutsu kaisen guy gojo or whatever being a titular example) and how to not do that kind of character (the korean level-up guy being an example, or SAO).

I wish I remembered the points he made or the video itself, as someone who didn't watch any of those I still found the thesis interesting. It was something like a cool aura farming, define their powers and limits, possibly that they have to eat humble pie at some point but I really think it came back to the aura and just having that panache. Take Conan >>97205956 and swap him with Kirito or some other blank slate anime character, have the EXACT SAME story beats unfold exactly the same and shit that Conan did that was badass would come across as cringe for no reason other than Conan has the aura and élan to do it.

Replied to you a sec ago with the conan kirito example but remarkably the conan fantasy seems less common than it used to be. Or guys are just afraid of admitting it, but it was very strange seeing people unironically getting touchy with that dweeb in Xenoblades having three wives. And it wasn't
>Fuck you you got three waifus and I didn't reeee
It was more this pearl clutching at having a harem. This kind of extension of the anti-NTR spirit where now even a girl having to share a man induces some jealousy complex in the guy even though the guy is imagining himself as the guy.

This shit is a stereotype exaggerating but like any stereotype it's coming from a place of truth. Women gushed for Khal Drogo mounting Khaleesi, while I never saw men (Except for Momoa) being thrilled at the idea of being Khal Drogo. Is that them hiding the fantasy or not having it at all? I could buy the former if not for the fact that the fantasy more often in a male safe space like 4chan is exactly like this pic.

I'll keep finding women who love absolutely vile, filthy conquest fantasies (We're talking "Exterminate the men and breed the women") and I guess I see that with the raceplay against elves that is vogue but it's really fucking pale beer to what women like.

>Drive them forth and hear the lamentations of their women
is what excites the gals more than the guys these days.

Supposedly they had some kind of in-house TTRPG that they developed Revachol in, and then used that as the basis to write Disco Elysium, but as it turns out, every single person who wrote or worked on anything for that game believes they are the sole arbiter of truth about everything involving that game and its creation, so they're conflicting stories. They claimed it was a 10 year campaign, but then also say it was just some D&D games where they changed settings a few times from fantasy to steampunk and so on, so it's hard to say that was even a cohesive setting or just the general vibes the creators had cultivated after playing a bunch of games together and then taking a bunch of ideas cultivated over time to become the inspiration for Revachol.

Here are some GSC boltguns and lasguns, since those are good Necromunda weapons not available in any GSC kits. I don't think I removed any details on these models and I don't remember why I took pictures of them lol.

On many of my other GSC figures I remove the Cult keychain, because I find it kind of stupid that every dude in the army would have one openly dangling somewhere. But all of these guys still have theirs, because they were sculpted over areas that are difficult to fuck around with, like the ribbed sections of GSC hazard suits.
>>

>I don't think I removed any details on these models and I don't remember why I took pictures of them lol.
Thinking a little harder about it: the Venator Overlords and the GSC lasguns all use Tempestus Scions parts. The Scion heads on the Venators have the skulls and aquilas shaved off, and the hotshot lasguns on the GSC have the aquilas shaved off.

Welcome to yet another glorious day in your officio station revered clerk of the Administratum.
Your efforts in compiling the information on [Vokaris Sector] and its eight subsectors have been further garnering plenty of praise from your peers and lords above your meager station, we implore you to resume your task to gather this stellar data about this sector in our glorious Imperium of Man
A brief reminder that as data comes in to your cogitator station via the servitors around you, you will have to compile it and make this sector whole again.
May the God Emperor continue to guide you clerk Anon.

Hello there, Anons of /tg/. If anyone is still interested in this fun project, here is the whole sector - updated with the discovered planets so far - where we can continue to create together, using the planet generator found on 1d6chan.

Now this planet is starting to make sense. The lack of government presence, the imperial ruins, all of it point to a dying world. The ascetics come here even as more and more people abandon the dying world for isolation, the Arbites are just holding the line until the last shuttle leaves. We could roll a moon just to take advantage of the high roll and to explain the special police force.

A very bleak subsector.

You guys, I love Kill Team but not loving the direction it's headed atm. The upcoming (Women) vs (Raptor models from 2003) box does not excite me, and every game me and the boys play we always ignore that initiative card shit.

It can be turned around, but that would require heavy nerfs to the top 5 teams (Yiff Scouts, Canoptek and Deathwatch)

In the wake of Malvina’s attempt to claim Terra, CJF has broken into four main factions:
(1) CJF of the ilClan — No under the leadership of Khan Stephanie Chistu, the Falcon survivors of the battle against the ROS and CW on Terra now act as the bodyguard of the ilKhan Alaric Ward (coming full circle from when Elizabeth Hazen was a Royal Black Watch commander and resistance leader during the Amaris Civil War).
(2) CJF Remnants — Malvina left a small portion of the Falcon touman behind in the CJF OZ when she headed to Terra. Jiyi Chistu, left behind because of his disaffection from Malvina’s interpretation of the Mongol Doctrine, became Khan of these remnants. They are struggling (albeit mostly successfully) to hold onto/reclaim the heartland of the former CJF OZ from Sudeten.
(3) Alyina Merchant League — A new state formed by former CJF Merchant Factor Marena. She despises the traditional Warrior supremacy of Clan society and has made commercial allies with Clan Sea Fox and another emerging Hinterlands state, the Tamar Pact. The AML relies on mercs for military support.
(4) Malthus Confederation — This isn’t strictly a CJF successor faction as the founder of the CJF Bloodname, Koji Malthus, was only distantly related to the family at the center of the Lyran criminal syndicate House Malthus. CJF finally conquered Dustball, the epicenter of the a Malthus syndicate’s enterprises, in 3142 and the Falcons “sentenced” them into the CJF OZ Free Guilds where they gradually assembled a powerful smuggling enterprise. They took advantage of the chaos resulting from Malvina’s charge on a Terra to form their own nascent state in the Hinterlands.

if you had an “ice world”, you would expect darker skinned peoples, especially in the temperates and tropical regions, where, despite all the ice, there’s a fuckton of sunlight (and ice is reflective as hell).

hell there are even inuit peoples that are dark skinned, I guess they get all the Vit D they need from their all-fish-and-seal diet.

basically thinking ice world =white people only makes sense if for some reason these people don’t live in their ice world’s trope

It's a communication issue. Either you played the part of an abysmal communicator, or they played the part of abysmal receiver. The decisive factor is the specifics of the matter, which you have not provided. Follow up on what >>97206447 requested, and provide actual details.
>>
>>97206447
When you inspect the floorboards, you see someone has carved a schematic into the wood. two squares, one labeled “ARMZ” and another labeled “BUKZ”. Two arrows are drawn between the two squares, each pointing at the other square, and between the arrows it says “NITZ”.

in this dungeon below a castle, the players have already been inside a stockroom, a torture chamber, a library with a locked section that couldn’t be opened, a brewing chamber, and a stable. they are currently in an armory. there is a suit of armor holding a halberd on the wall. knocking on the wall, there’s a hollow sound. mapping the area would reveal that yes, you have already traveled in that area behind the wall (you should be able to intuit what room is behind the wall)
Players couldn’t figure what the inscribed message was trying to tell them.

or like:
you are searching for a lost dwarf-mason’s apprentice. He’s a child, and you learned there is a mine nearby that is using child labor. after some effort, you manage to get ahold of one of the child laborers. do you ask this child-laborer if he has seen or knows anything about the missing dwarf-mason’s apprentice? yes? okay because the players didn’t.

Well, it's pretty obvious that the first two are for the armory and library, but I have no idea what the hell "Nitz" is meant for.

>Players couldn’t figure what the inscribed message was trying to tell them.
A secret passage between the library and armory? It's kind of hard to tell what you're getting at here with the way this is written and a lack of context and info the players would've probably had.
>>
>>97206639

The locked section of the library, which, when mapped out, sits in the direction of the armory, features a similar suit-of-armor holding a halberd against the wall, which you can see through the bars of the locked section's gate.

(the players have already tried to get through this gate by smashing it [failed, attracted some evil book-spirits] and picking the lock [failed, lock has a small acid-trap which melts lockpicks].

c'mon anon. sound out a word inscribed by someone who clearly doesn't know how to spell. NITZ.

>sound out a word inscribed by someone who clearly doesn't know how to spell
If they don't know how to spell they probably wouldn't be using z in the first place. Typing like a stereotypical orc =/= how someone who can't spell would try to write.
That said, the only thing my ESL ass is coming up with is knits, which doesn't really fit anything you've described.

>[failed, attracted some evil book-spirits] and picking the lock [failed, lock has a small acid-trap which melts lockpicks]
That sounds pretty fucking stupid. How the hell do you have an acid trap in the lock?

Alright, if NOT 5e, what should be babby's first tabletop in 2025+1?

Eh, I don't think 5e is an awful first game *as a player* and *with a half decent gm*

The bigger problems with 5e are that the GM book is dogshit that basically just tells you to buy a Dungeons and Dragons©™ campaign, and then all the campaigns are dogshit railroads that need a complete teardown to be useful.

Honestly, if you're a first time GM, you should snag So You Want To Be A Dungeon Master, its the only book I'm aware of that actually has concrete, fundamental advice on how to prep and run a game, regardless of system.

5e is the iPhone of TTRPGs. Dominates the space, tons of support, but is mediocre at best, and is a form of consumer therapy that certain target demographics are attracted to: women, browns of all hues and homosexuals (all the leftist victim classes). If you have an iPhone (or any other Apple product, really), you will find anything other than 5e is problematic and icky.

It’s Dungeon Crawl Classics. teaches players right away that this isn’t just a narrative thing, that there are roleplay elements as well as mechanical elements, the starting dungeons always give a good mix of puzzles, traps, and battles, and the mechanics are the most basic fundamental stat stuff you’ll see in other ttrpgs.

Apple products do foster a sort of cult-like fandom around them, but a lot of that is the mistaken value attached to Apple products. They're expensive, so they must be good, and if you buy one that makes you cool and important, thinks they retarded subhuman. 5e doesn't quite have the same problem. There is a lifestyle brand attachment to it, but people see that 5e is popular, so therefore it must be good, but also, that all other systems must not be as good or are somehow worse, more complicated, or less fun than 5e (after all, why would everyone play it if it were a bad system, right?). However, it is not wrapped in the same sort of status-seeking consumerism, because even the most loyal 5e players will tell you that you can just pirate the PDFs or use the online SRDs other other resources to get around needing to pay for anything.

Here's your answer OP >>97206556
Don't even use a system. Just pick your favorite dice resolution method and throw out everything else.

the problem is, it's AP3 breach6+ which sucks, the phoenix get only 2 attacks which TURBO sucks. Dmg1 is bad if they don't charge. They're expensive since you must buy a power weapon +10 points then pay +10 more to swap it with spear for some squads. The fancy part is it strikes quickly, but EC already strike first with thunderhammers due to +1 initiative when charging, so you're typically just better off with a Thunderhammer.
Phoenix Spears would be much more impressive on non-emperors-children units... like if World Eaters could use them with +1 attack when charging, WE actually want the extra initiative. The super-duper-initiative is okay for a special champ duelist, but most things you fight will be like 2+/4++ where your low attacks and AP3 breach6+ doesn't kill them even if you strike first (though having such amazingly high initiative does mean striking first even with Finishing Blow for S6 Dmg3 for each spear poke that breaches)

NTA but terminators with thunderhammers are super super super super super slow and expensive (for WS5 ones, and WS4 ones are a joke in melee) - also they don't get Line or Vanguard typically for your WS5 terminators.

Stuff like 10 Dark Furies or 10 Palatine Aquilae or 10 Dawnbringers or 10 Night Raptors are very close to as scary in many matchups while being like 4x more mobile and costing 265-400 points less by not buying a landraider.
>>
>>97206598
Huh? How are they expensive, they're 35 points per model, that's literally less than a similarly upgraded baseline tartaros. That's cheap as shit bro.
>>
>>97206652
WS4 terminators with powerswords are cheap and get buttfucked by anything they fight.
WS5 terminators with thunderhammers are more often like 60 points each with a 400 point transport tax.

I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not, but yes you've proven my point.

Not really. I meant more in the sense that I haven't played many, not that there aren't any good ones. Of course that doesn't mean there are good ones. Nothing has been really appealing.
