Can we all just admit the Emperor was kinda stupid?
>Literally his only scientific skill of note was his psyker knowledge, which was heavily flawed and based on false assumptions
>He relied on Luna’s geneticists to make his supersoldiers and Mar’s Mechanicus to make his equipment because he couldn’t do it himself
>His strategy to basically everything involved dumb brute force
>His long-term endgame strategy was an over-complicated clusterfuck with a million things that could go wrong and did
>Said endgame strategy relied on once again using another’s technology prowess and hijacking the Eldar’s webway

It's fiction within established works, numbnuts. Or else you wouldn't call it Warhammer specifically.
>>
>>96606392
Swing and a miss, lil champ.
It's FICTION, retard. You're not getting children out of it regardless of what you imagine. Your genetic line ends with you if you spend all day jacking off to imaginary blue bitches, regardless of whether mommy GW tells you they can be impregnated by human seed or not. Get a grip.

And just to play Devil's Advocate here, 40K is probably the loosest "rules framework" in existence. The HH series recanonized half-eldar as being possible, DEldar conduct twisted science experiments all the time, and then you've got dubiously canon Pariahs. There are plenty of profane crimes against nature and reason you could commit if you truly wanted to justify half-tau babies in your gay little porn fanfiction.
>>
>>96606442
Nice strawman. Still fiction WITHIN established rules.
>The HH series recanonized half-eldar as being possible
It didn't. Both tiers of Xenology killed it and even retconned OG half-eldar. Nice try though, little faggot.
You can imagine all sort of contrived bullshit to justfy your mental gymnastics, but it will remain just as you heard - contrived, as opposed to what is allowed by default.
You will never a woman, even in 40K.

>Nice strawman
I'm not the one worried about fictional lineages in inaginary self-insert faggotry scenarios. This is that zoomer thing isn't it? Where your whole generation is so terminally knline you've lost the ability to separate fact from fiction.
>It didn't
Malcador had a half-eldar bangslave he assembled in a lab and kept killing/reviving because HH writers are hacks and needed to rip off Duncan-Idaho.
Nice try, lorelet.

That's a 2003 or earlier model, no wonder 3d printers wouldn't have it.

Like half of the most wanted stuff from forge world is like 1999s material that 3D printers just never got scans of, I have some of the stuff from 1998.

I'm going to sell it soon but, it will be extremely upmarked given the extreme rarity of what i have.

Here's some of the guard stuff from 2003-2000 used in conversions.

Make the rules free. Make the expansions editions to the base ruleset so they can't mix. Make the base ruleset compatible to each edition whenever you up the version (ex: version 1.0.1.2 -> 1.1.2.2)

Let people play what they want. Add in flexibility whenever they want to do something copywrited like movies and such that you cannot supplement legally.

That's quite a thing to say out of nowhere. Do you need to talk about it?
>>

Honestly, it depends on the character and if it even comes up. I have a warlock in 5e spelljammer thats pretty much just captain tyler, but over the course of the game has come to realise that he's only captain of the ship cause A) The bard, who probably would have been captain left to go fix the space elves and B) The fighter who is pretty much the party leader cant physically sit in the seat. But it never really came up drama wise as of yet. So he's just content to stand next to fighter when he talks cause the man has absolutely zero charisma despite looking like a mandalorian.

My 2e Triggerbrand Gunslinger though, He's basically Solid Snake who, due to his upbringing, has no clue how emotions work so he's constantly battling between what he thinks he wants, what he ACTUALLY wants and whats the most rational thing to stay alive. Bro has started using "Need to pay rent" as an code for "I wanna go home and see my friend who i still need to figure out if im in love with or not", its kind of hilarious. He's hopelessly in love with her, he just doesnt know it and is terrified.

https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/8284419/#q8284419

Both terms are pretty old and known, though a lot of idiots don't know what Ivory Tower Game Design means, and clearly never read the article. >>96594954
>>
Ivory Tower of Game Design

> There's a third concept that we took from Magic-style rules design, though. Only with six years of hindsight do I call the concept "Ivory Tower Game Design." (Perhaps a bit of misnomer, but it's got a ring to it.) This is the approach we took in 3rd Edition: basically just laying out the rules without a lot of advice or help. This strategy relates tangentially to the second point above. The idea here is that the game just gives the rules, and players figure out the ins and outs for themselves -- players are rewarded for achieving mastery of the rules and making good choices rather than poor ones.
> Perhaps as is obvious from the name I’ve coined for this rules writing style, I no longer think this is entirely a good idea. I was just reading a passage from a recent book, and I found it rather obtuse. But it wasn’t the writer’s fault. He was just following the lead the core books offered him. Nevertheless, the whole thing would have been much better if the writer had just broken through the barrier this kind of design sets up between designer and player and just told the reader what the heck he was talking about.

>To continue to use the simplistic example above, the Toughness feat could have been written to make it clear that it was for 1st-level elf wizards (where it is likely to give them a 100 percent increase in hit points). It’s also handy when you know you’re playing a one-shot session with 1st-level characters, like at a convention (you sure don’t want to take item creation feats in such an instance, for example).

>Ivory Tower Game Design requires a two-step process on the part of the reader. You read the rule, and then you think about how it fits in with the rest of the game. There’s a moment of understanding, and then a moment of comprehension. That’s not a terrible thing, but neither is just providing the reader with both steps, at least some of the time.

>what -actually- pissed people off.
Are you writing D&D? If not, it really shouldn't matter because your game will be sold to a very niche market and will live
However if you want the real truth of it:
1. People didn't like that Martials and Casters played similarly
2. People didn't like the way the game was presented and how it was gamified
3. People really, REALLY didn't like healing surges, and short-rest mechanics are still one of the most bitched about things today even though short rests in 5e are 20x as prohibitive.
4. Skill challenges sucked.
5. Grid-mandated combat cut a lot of people out.
>>
>>96603533
Ironically almost no games have ever actually learned from OTGD's mistakes properly. The two paths I've seen have been
>Make something so simple it cannot be misunderstood
>Make something so single-use it cannot ever be misused
Which just result in increasingly less fun mechanics to toy with. The solution all along was to simply write a guide. Most designers suck stunning amounts of ass at understanding their own games, but even then you can just hire some autist who can figure out the most optimal way to beat a given encounter within 30 seconds of seeing it. Hell most of them do it for free.
