Now that all his scientific achievements got stolen, what the fuck is even the point of this guy?

Apparently his only special ability is making himself look taller?

>keeps trying to defend the Emperor by saying he's just like Leto II
Wrong. It's just just a fact that needs to be repeated for midwits like you
>Leto II and the Emperor have completely opposite philosophies about the future of humanity
Wrong. They both have the same goal, but need opposite solutions. Scattering humanity doesn't work in the 40k galaxy, it doesn't ensure the species survival when there's xenos and daemos around
>Leto II was competent at everything and succeeded at everything he set out to accomplish, and the Emperor is a complete fuckup
Wrong. The Emperor's story is yet unfinished. The apparent faults of Leto II reign are only revealed to be on purpose at the end of God Emperor.

This is why it's obvious that you haven't read the book unlike 40k authors.
>>
>>96742570
The Emperor also simply allowed Ol Persson to walk away after Persson destroyed the Tower of Babel and took away the Emperor's first chance at absolute, godlike power to reforge reality as he saw fit. The Emperor is not devoid of feelings, he's a human being. Betrayals hurt him, but he also values the other Perpetuals as comrades and equals, something precious to him that he could not bring himself to destroy. Just like Horus. Each set back to his plans is unfortunate, but Erda's actions only required him to accelerate the timetable for the Great Crusade a bit so he could pick up the Primarchs from each world they ended up on.

Not only the Emperor had much harder problems to fix, his own Golden Path is low key hinted to be a red herring.

After reading the HH series is impossible not to see the big neon signs about Big E alwasy wanting to sit in the Throne for ten thousand years, with humanity utterly depending on him for survival. Exactly like Leto II but in a bigger scale.
>>
>>96746032
>Wrong. It's just just a fact that needs to be repeated for midwits like you
Imagine being unable to tell the difference between two characters and calling everyone else midwits, lmfao
>They both have the same goal
Not even close. They're literal opposites. The Emperor's plan is to rule over humanity for 1 million years and guide their evolution, cementing the power of psychic foresight forever. At no point does he himself bow out of the process like Leto II. At no point does the Emperor plan to render psychic foresight impossible like Leto II. Leto II is the guy who looks at the psychic future of humanity and says 'lol that's gay' while the Emperor looks at the psychic future of humanity and says 'sick, I'm gonna make sure humanity reaches this ending'
>Wrong. The Emperor's story is yet unfinished.
His story is finished dumbass. His Golden Path was destroyed when Magnus shattered the Webway. Everything the Emperor does now is just to try to keep humanity alive a little longer.
>This is why it's obvious that you haven't read the book unlike 40k authors.
Its honestly hilarious how stupid you are. Literally soifacing at two characters both being called God-Emperor and saying "THEY MUST BE THE SAME THING!!!!!1!!"

Has your party ever been bamboozled by a lust provoking NPC?

This is the tool I referenced in my post about the conversion. They're precision sidecutters. I can't recall what I paid for them, but they were sold under the flex-i-file brand. It's a Canadian abrasive tools company, mostly. They sell other hobby tools as well though. Mostly cutting tools. As you can see this was made in pawkistawn so you can probably find it being sold under a number of brand names. I bought them for precision cutting resin pieces but they work well on hard plastic too.

So what makes these different from other side cutters? The precision is one thing. These cut down to about the profile of a human hair. The other advantage is the cutting angle and profile itself. Rather than coming in at a 45 degree angle like conventional side cutters you come in perpendicular, at like a 90 degree square angle. So you can ride it right up against a flat surface and basically scrape details off of it. You can get into places where other sidecutters can't. I wouldn't use it for really thick pieces though, because of how fine the cutting edge is. That's about the only drawback. Also that you have to put quite a bit more force down to clear a cut on hard plastic because of the nature of the design. You won't be replacing your sidecutters totally. But, it has come in handy in a lot of scenarios. Especially if you want to remove a raised detail off a small part. Think like the cross on the crest on that conversion I just posted with the standard.

Anyways, if you're a tool guy and that sounds like it would be helpful for you I'd recommend them. I use them all the time for cutting from sprues or other cuts that would be awkward with normal side cutters.

Have a good one and a happy Thanksgiving weekend to my fellow leafs

Worst part is, battletech does have rules for holding guns, they're just insanely shit. Though it doesn't count if you're grandfathered in, those count as "jettison capable" and it's clearly just a handheld gun that they've scotch-taped onto the arm.

They also only started doing it because of legal trouble. They used to just carry guns as well until they got sued.

As everything is just a phase. Listen, untill Wotc makes good money out of this shit show they won't change course. The moment players stop to buy (lack of proper competition is a problem too, pokemon, yu gi ho are really different games) Wotc will have 2 choice :
1 - Kill the game;
2 - Going back on their way and giving away to player request.

In years of playing TCG , miniature games and other things I learned that change are slow. I mean let's say wizard is now aware that players have enough of all this UB and stop buying you won't see result before 1/2 years, simply because they can't change the relese/production schedule on the fly.

It's more the fact that this type of stuff has escalated since the end of MotM.
At first it was cute with the commander decks and Secret Lairs, and the LotR set was at least fantasy-adjacent as was Final Fantasy but then we also got an entire AssCreed set, Spider-Man set, Avatar set, TMNT set with the new model seeming to be one main set and one crossover set alternating. Not only does it show that they're out of ideas for the actual Magic setting but that Hasbro is trying to make it so they maximize profit through IP recognition

try this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mia_(game)

in german it's called Mäxchen and we used to play it as a drinking game, where if your bluff failed you had to drink one sip, if you rolled a 21 (mäxchen - the highest number) and you manage to trick your opponent into not believing you, then he would have to drink his whole beverage (glass of wine or beer or whatever). that one was great fun.

Yeah, I've got a lot of ideas for different armies and projects, forces that I'd like to expand and then there are games that are actually played.

Do you think that class-based RPGs should try to accommodate the "generic wizard who does generic magical things" class concept, or do you think it is too generic an idea, and that the game should force the player to narrow it down?

Putting aside the very obvious example of D&D 5(.5)e and its wizard class, D&D 4e, Pathfinder 2e, and 13th Age 2e all have a wizard that specializes in a mix of raw damage blasting and hard-control debuffs (with the occasional buff). Daggerheart likewise has a wizard class. An indie title, level2janitor's Tactiquest, has the Arcanist as a catch-all magical caster with a broad repertoire of spells suitable for different occasions.

Other games have a different approach. Draw Steel has the elementalist, focused on the physicality of elemental magic; and the talent, a psionicist who specializes in more intangible effects like time manipulation and telepathy. Tom Abbadon's ICON has no "generic wizard who does generic magical things" in its noncombat classes or its combat classes, specifically to force the player to narrow the concept down, whether for noncombat functions or for tactical combat role.

Yeah the point is that there are no feats on par with magic, try to keep up
>>
>>96742848
>It's not like you can't print multiple games for the same system to separate the options that would cause problems if usable together.
That's precisely what many generic systems (GURPS, FATE, PbtA) do, though. You have the main books that are generic system toolkits, supplemental books that are genre/setting guides, and then stand-alone books that are dedicated to playing a specific type of game within the system.

>you CAN balance to avoid such (I argue it's unreasonably difficult given the math)
I somewhat agree, the class structure means that there SHOULD be tools and guidelines that are even easier to work with than in classless RPGs.
But in my experience, they're rare in class-based RPGs. When I see them, they often exist for RPGs that are only one step away from being classless RPGs, like the 40k RPGs or Cyberpunk 2020/RED. I've never once seen official homebrew rules in adequate enough detail for D&D or any of its derivatives.
I need something that explains how each of the classes came to be, every step of the design process, and what alternatives may be taken or part interchanged and how that might impact the game, so I can extrapolate enough to make my own stuff. In D&D's case, there used to be some stuff almost approaching that back in AD&D. But modern D&D? lol. lmao.

Redditors can only conceive of balance meaning "every class is equal is power at every moment in time and during every encounter."

Meanwhile AD&D wizards:
>d4 hp
>no armor, no weapons other than dagger and staff
>generally casting toward end of round and taking one hp of damage causes spell to be lost
>need speech and free hands AND material components
>must find spell to know it, don't just pick it. Means every wizard doesn't automatically use the same OP spells
>Vancian is far weaker than the flexibility of at-will spell selection (this is a good thing)
>actual attrition-based play rather than "I rest after every encounter and therefore begin every encounter with all my spells, tee hee!"
>Most importantly, and this rarely gets mentioned even by grognards: MAGIC RESISTANCE among high-level monsters.

Yeah, I'd say it was balanced.

To be specific Warriors made 1 melee attack per round between levels 1~6, 3 every 2 rounds between 7~12 and 2 attacks per round at 13+. Those with weapon specialization got an additional .5 attacks per round for 3/2, 2/1 and 5/2.

Warriors could also make a number of individual attacks equal to their level against a group of 1 HD targets. For example, if fighting 10 1 HD orcs a 5th level Fighter without weapon specialization could attack 5 of the orcs each round.

Warrior effectively got +19 to attack
Priest +12
Rogue +9
Wizard +6

In 3.5 you'd need to do something like this:
Full BAB classes get 1 HD per level
3/4 BAB classes get 1/2 HD per level
1/2 BAB classes get 1/5 HD per level

Because different people have different ideas of what a "ruined game" is.

In latin languages it's the same. Instead of being a specific magician of undeath, we use "practitioner of black magic", i.e. negromancer

NuSR anon here. We have a Turn chapter where we distinguish between Battle Round and Turn, but the 3-4e only had the Game Turn and Player Turn concept.

Should we keep the newest but more self-explanatory Battle Round terminology or should we switch back to Game Turn instead?

While I see in the OP that new unit ports aren't up for discussion, is there a simple rule of thumb by which people simply toss a new unit into the old editions? Are contemporary move distances and wounds compatible enough that you can simply toss it in and hope for the best?

Obviously the only way to reliably balance any new model in an old edition is to play it in a few games with a willing party and see what needs to be tweaked, I'm just wondering how fast and lose that could be done.

No. After 8th it's literally a different game(well, three different games because modern GW are buffoons and the edition changes are radical rather than iterative now).

It's less of a big deal with 5th, 6th, and 7th content, but is going to be progressively more of A Thing with each edition shift.

I vote for classic terminology. The goal is to transcribe and clarify - in the context of the original material - not redefine.

I like (game) turn and player turn. Cause when I'm playing Im gonna ask "what turn is it" not "what battle round is it".
