Welcome to Mecha Monday! Here we dedicate ourselves to mecha RPGs, wargames, and boardgames alike. >>96798588>Can you come up with an imaginative new mecha weapon? Melee, ranged, whatever. Let's see what you've got!Has there ever been a transforming mace or flail or ball-and-chain type thing? I can't think of any off the top of my head. I'm envisioning some kind of big metal ball on a long chain, but the ball can unfold into a claw or something... Not sure exactly where I'm going with this idea yet.
>>96798588>Can you come up with an imaginative new mecha weapon?Eh, less imaginative and more iterative...Everyone knows that the rocket punch is one of the classic and iconic mecha weapons, up there with the blazing sword. But I propose the use of miniaturized portal technology to enhance the range of your mecha fisticuffs, instead of rockets. No longer will combat teleportation be used merely to flash-step behind your opponent or warp to safety after a humiliating defeat by the heroes. No. Now you can open mecha-fist-sized holes in the fabric of spacetime, and deliver a flurry of manly punches at range. Just like your genius scientist father would have wanted.>>96888422Here's an old Lancer Community Map listing, which might have useful things for your game. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HEcgdjk2klCRLdrJU4wdXFnuscDnXuH43J9OcTKkKE8/edit?usp=drive_linkAlso, if you pay attention to the "notes" column, you'll see a number of options for making your own. Aerial or drone photos of real-world locations, various mapmaking programs like Inkarnate, etc. Also check out Spriter's Resource. You can often repurpose maps from some of the more recent Super Robot Wars or SD Gundam games. All the mecha GMs I've played with have all gotten good use from those maps.
>>96898769I like the cute furry girl
Fucked up that I'm still waiting for gundam assemble. Hope it blows up and I can make a billion tiny little kondo customs.
Thoughts/Experiences with Beam Saber, please.I don't need a super crunchy mecha system, I can use a skirmish game for that, but I do want one that's pretty pilot focused.
What is your character's choice of drink?

Previous thread: >>>96796195GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image (follow the URL to get to a folder with some files, read the files to get to the archive). Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.Thread question: What do you want there to be in the additional 27 pages of the new Basic Set?
>>96912984>>96911873Off-topic but games are worst, take longer to make, and require way higher specs only to have shit art style. All the good game devs got chased out and been replaced with new guys who have no incentive to become proficient at their jobs because they'll just get fired as soon as they would have expected their salary to increase due to seniority. If you disagree you have shit taste.
>>96912984Honestly most old games that people call good I was utterly disappointed in. I can see the roots of good ideas that were iterated on, but good for their time does not equal good imo. The most recent older game i played was Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and compared to Dishonored or Prey the QoL was horrendous.
>>96913724Prey and dishonored are utter fucking trash, not even comparable to dark messiah, you just have a terminal case of shit taste.Anyone who praises prey can be safely ignored as either a zoomer or zoomerbrained.
Help me understand this. I'm reading through Proxy Fighting in Martial Arts, and I don't get how this is supposed to be any different from the normal rules for Improvised Weapons, Shoving People Around, and Grab and Smash!
>>96911675The Dedicated modifier on computers, which either increases Complexity or reduces weight/cost depending on the source but limits it to a specific type of program running on it, in this case a Sony OS meant to read and execute game files.>>96911873>>96912984Why are we talking about game quality? Quality is largely unrelated to technical complexity. Modern designers forgetting how to design a fun level or pace and execute a story beat does not in any way detract from the raw computing power necessary to process and display eleventy bajillion polygons and particle effects on screen.Even when a game is a technical fuckup, it's due to the misuse of resources rather than the lack of them; the PS5 struggling to run the latest AAAA game is not because the PS5 lacks, in GURPS terms, high enough Complexity, it's because designers made a bad product, opting for raytracing at native 4k resolutions in massive open-world areas, rather than reign in scope or reduce resolution or use the baked-in lighting tools we've gotten very good at using over the decades. In both cases, these issues can be more accurately attributed to suits at the top of the corporate ladder rather than the devs themselves, pushing for buzzword tech integration, burning out established creators, chasing bigger numbers at the cost of performance, or simply mandating a rotating cast of temporary developers rather than letting anyone stick around long enough to learn the ropes.
Is there even a way to do romance with an NPC without it being cringe as fuck?In my experience, it worked fine between players, but every attempt to do that with an NPC was dropped pretty fast.

>>96914781The new ones are still lot thicker than other brands. I own ~50 AP (exclusively fanatic range) paints, lot more AK paints, and fair bit of Citadel/PA paints, too.
>>96913066Thanks! I don't really have any specific tips, as I'm learning the process a bit myself. My process was to airbrush the base coat with everything and set the minor color modulation. Then I dry brushed everything with a subtly brighter color for the edges, then manually edge highlighted with the brightest color. Then finally hit the edges with a torn up natural sponge for metal and black chipping (still in the middle of this). I would recommend dense sponges like makeup sponges for setting paint on panels if you need to paint anymore after airbrushing or using masking. But for hard to reach places like the inset panel on these kind of 40k tanks you just gotta paint it manually for best results I think. 6 to 8 or more milky thin coats of paint steadily layered on it will look good, just takes a while. >>96914639I use their metallic air paints. For both airbrush and hand brush, I think they're good. I don't prefer any of their regular pigments or speedpaints though they aren't worthless. I wouldn't recommend a whole range of them just test some as substitute workhorses for your needed colors.
>>96914921>GW paints in droppersvery based
>>96914944Definitely stockholmed with them a bit. I can't stand those pots but I just can't find a good substitute for a lot of their hues and contrast paints. This is 40k piggy cope I acknowledge, kek
Question to anyone familiar with Japanese stuff - what are those round guards on legs, above rectangle ones? I mean, I'm not sure if these are supposed to be burnt red like rest of the armor or metallic steel/gold instead.
