Didn't see a thread for it, I'm starting a Weird Wizard campaign in a few days so figured it could use one instead of "Is coffee good for you?" posting that makes up 60% of the board now. Of the non-human and human++ options available in Weird Ancestries, which ones are most interesting or mechanically worth taking the alternative Novice path for? Personally I like Daeva as an idea, being a glorified Stand user with a dedicated summon living in your head is nice and means you don't have to wait a long time for a specific expert or master class if you wanna be a "pet class"

>>97102448Maybe something broad like "make a gamble card". Here's an exampleGame of Chance[Continuous Spell Card]Once per turn, the turn player can declare 1 Card Type (Monster, Spell, Trap); That Player applies the following effects, sequentially.● Take 3 cards (1 of each Card Type) from your hand, deck, and/or GY, then banish them all face-down● Choose 1 card from among your face-down banished cards at random, then flip it face-up. If it is the declared type, you can add it to your hand, or if it is a Monster, you can Special Summon it insteadYou can only activate 1 "Game of Chance" per turn.
Jess!
I love them.
>>97092153>>97093334As a matter of fact, the first judge did tell him that on the first judge call. When the judge left I asked the guy "do you want to activate anything on resolution" and he said no. Then I declared Accesscode's effect to banish and pop and then my opponent flips Droplets again, leading to a another judge call and that's when the second judge call stepped in. His argument was that he wasn't actually responding to Accesscode, even though I had already asked him if he wanted to activate anything on res.Blue Eyes players are unreal.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!Last thread: >>96885123Resources for Newfags: https://sites.google.com/view/wbgeneral/Worldbuilding links: https://pastebin.com/JNnj79S5 (embed)https://cryptpad.fr/pad/#/2/pad/view/Eo+fK41FKVR7xDpbNO0a0N4k0YYxrmyrhX3VxnM14Ew/Fantasy map generator: https://watabou.itch.io/medieval-fantasy-city-generator/wbi/: https://discord.gg/6ZjEc7dy4TWorldbuilding Hub: https://discord.com/invite/wGjxK3YThe Writer's Forge: https://discord.com/invite/CUxHxWqTira: https://discord.com/invite/f52W6KgDawn of Victory: https://discord.gg/hUAynC3wComment too long. >>97098850>Figure out a way to create a Grand Canal in Europe that connects the waters of the Volga to the Rhine.[Everyone hated that.]
>>97103911And I know what you're thinking.>But wait, the canal through the Polder of Azov doesn't connect to the Dnieper! That's the good news. There's already a canal system down to Crimea from the Dnieper that could be modified to connect there.
>>97102472Successful hegemony inevitably divides internally into multiple poles in constant political struggle. If a sufficient threat exists externally it can remain seemingly united, but then its not a hegemony, just a regional power with strong internal controls.
>>97103911>Literally connecting the waters, not building a canal connecting the same-ish height of the rivers at a given pointI mean, it's already there, it's called the sea.
>>97103966How do you think fuckhuge canal projects are done? You connect existing waterways where you can. The Wabash-Eerie canal was like 4 fucking canals.>I mean, it's already there, it's called the sea.By that logic, they are already connected. Also then traffic would be restricted to seaworthy vessels.

It gives them a cheap excuse to write w/e they want and think it's justified.
What if the lore for D&D's settings wasn't twisted to make the games easier to run?Classes your player characters can be are now heavily restricted:>You can get Barbarians, Warriors, and Rogues>Mages and other spellcasters aren't going to drop their education to go on a adventuring party, and earn much more money from selling their powers to kings or wealthy men as a service>Rangers and Druids actually care about nature, rogues or warriors may have skill in archery now though>Paladins, Clerics, and Monks work under the church, not available as player classes>Bards still like fucking around and some will willingly join>As a aside, mixed-species groups are much rarer, and adventuring groups composed of weird combos such as mono goblins become much more common lorewise>Pic only semi relatedSome classes might be created here because of the lore changing, I don't know what these would be thoughDungeons don't exist as they do currently, that could be a entire thread on itself>Far more likely that a party will go exploring the wilderness, or if they're good, raiding back orc camps and the likeComment too long. >>97089522I think you have a very narrow view of what personal goals and an adventure can be.Going outdoor and clubbing living creatures to death is not an adventure in itself and money is not the only goal adventurers can have.Mages would certainly go on an adventure because for a lot of them the product of their research is more important than staying comfy at a court somewhere. They deal in the arcane, you cannot trust a sword swinging retard to go fetch something they cannot even begin to understand, you gotta do it yourself. And for the religious type, just look at real life, if there are adventuring motherfuckers it's them. Going on 10 to 15 years trip evangelizing naked cannibal tribes in the freaking amazonia or in the middle of Africa in the 1600s and onward, that is what I call and adventure.

>>97084051It's probably due to kobolds being type cast as one of the artificer races alongside goblins, gnomes, and dwarves.Unlike goblins they aren't chaotic and individualist, unlike gnomes they aren't really pranksters or magically adept, and unlike dwarves they tend to not have strong under empires. They also tend to be the most disposable, so when technology get involved they become the attrition warfare guys.I think them being trapmakers also plays into this, as their main means of defending themselves is already basically attrition warfare. They can't out magic or strength their opponents so they become too annoying and costly to deal with while also not being a big enough threat where adventurers and nations feel like they need to mobilize a force to cast them out.
OP here. Absolutely insane this thread has lasted this long. Thank you all my kobold friends!
>>97103485You're welcome!
If magic is overly effective, deadly, and can ritualistically assassinate or control people anonymously from afar, then duels between wizards would be closer to rocket tag, hunkering down in bunkers, manipulation of proxies and influencing politics (perhaps even geopolitics), making direct confrontation between wizards unwise, or just horrific to behold (sorcery can be quite scary and ruinous), unless a wizard knows for certain that they'll triumph without any consequences.
>>96996472
All I can say to contribute here is >tippyverseAnd also the Pathfinder game I ran where the characters were pretty much unstoppable. The only opponents who could stand up to them were those who cast mind blank to avoid getting "scry-n-fried" by the characters. They would just scry on someone til they rolled a nat1 on their saves, then teleport in and gank them. It was retarded. They even used Wish spell to bypass a mind blank once, but there was a roll of 1d10 and 1d4 for how many hours/days/months/years they could be in stasis. Fortunately only ended up being a week missed out. But still even with that, it's ridiculous. High level D&D magic users conflicts is just hiding from each others' divinations and having decoys everywhere.
