>>97837598AI can never solo DM as of now, it can work as a co-DM at best, but it takes a lot of tinkering and you'll always have to curate to some degree because there will always be retarded generations no matter how good your prompt and model are. You'll probably want to use those AI roleplay chatbot tools because trying to use an AI assistant for this is pretty much akin to bashing your head against the wall, it's just not designed for that.
>>97839328I think the biggest problem is the size of the context window.Google Gemini struggles to digest the entirety of singular epic poems, like GK Chesterton's "Ballad of The White Horse" and hallucinates extra stanzas. It lacks the ability to retain and refer to that amount of information, or really contextually understand which bits are important in the moment, and which to handwave.

>>97837179thanks bro, but its kind of hard to practice with just tournaments
>>97837521Why didn't he just ask her to put the phone away?
Why are fide tournaments so sus?Random nobodies can rack up a ton of draws, make it to the finals, and win the last game out of sheer luck. Why are people ok with watching 50 draws? Surely the rules need to change
>>97839297It's not a FIDE rated event, and the game didn't start yet, so it wasn't a big deal. He did ask the arbiter to keep the phone, to prevent any problem for the girl.
Why did domain level play fall out of style?
>>97838329Personally, I like a game with significant downtime. I find a settlement management with crisis you can try to solve (and must for it not to devolve) at an adventure level to be fun.And not every player has to do it either. Some might open shop in said settlement and craft / trade items, spy on visitors, run a thieves' guild, work on lower level politics or even help organize the military.
>>97837556I don't think it ever really was in style. B/x sold a lot more copies than the original boxed set did, and those stopped before any kind of domain management started. I'd guess that most people who played b/x or red box probably never got much past that.
>>97839323Hitting name level back then was genuinely an accomplishment, but I think most players opted for the "traveling" character options rather than the base-building. Or at least, let one player become the landed noble while everyone else mooched off of him.
>>97837556>Implying it was even in style.It wasn't.
>>97839381Yup. As much as grogs like to pretend it was some integral part of the game that got killed for no reason, in reality it got taken out because so few people gave a damn about it that it wasn't worth wasting space in the books on.

I was going to use the fictional religion of the story 'stranger in a strange land' called 'The Church of all worlds' and their thing with psychic powers. But I found out that psychics are illegal in the Island setting of the game. So is there any other fictional religion with an air of legitimacy or at least some sort of supernatural powers?
>>97836344Well I was asking for a different angle to look at things. In the setting of Al-Amarja psychics are illegal unless you're a government agent. So I needed practice for the religion that has an air of legitimacy, something that is semi-harproof and is a practice that just isn't state-run secondary tax services. The same way that England used to pay your taxes to the king and you pay your tithes to God.
>>97837710You can spin a religion out of most powers, to retroactively justify them. Or you can just look at most religions that involve clerics in fantasy and adapt them.
>>97837840This is pre world of darkness so I don't really know what I'm allowed to have for the most part.

>>97837655The developers declaring that core was perfect in every way and did not require errata was truly the greatest act of human hubris since the Tower of Babel itself.
Would Subordinate Inspiration Technique bridge language gaps (any edition)? I'd think it would if it's bringing ideas into people's heads, but if it's making them visualise words playing in their head then I wouldn't think it did, so I guess I'm wondering how you would adjudicate. And, if it doesn't translate, what the heck does thinking thoughts in languages you don't understand feel like?
>>97838738>The developers declaring that core was perfect in every wayI don't think they said that.>and did not require errataMy understanding is that the developers said they are not allowed to errata core. They aren't in charge, they can't just do what they want if they want what they write to go to print.
Not only is Yelmalio proven to get his ass beaten constantly in his own stinkin myths, he is portrayed as a proven enemy of the Storm Tribe afterwards. Why the hell would Sartarites bear to have them in their midst as potential destabilizing elements when his worshippers sell themselves to the highest bidder when the Occupation begins ?GLORANTHA Thread
>>97832836>Why creator has his favourites and playing them?
>>97834047If anything, that game did a fuckload of damage, being barely functional mess
>>97834410Honestly even if he was his favorite, There are already Praxian Yelmalians and Esrolian ones out there. Why does a prominent local cult have to suffer for an obvious foreigner cult ? Humakt is seen as a foreigner since he kut his kinship ties but is still a proper orlanthi god. I don't see why Yelmalio couldn't be written the same way.( in Sartar at the very least)
Give me a rundown because I keep hearing people complaining about two gods being the same in the new edition but apparently they weren't for decadesI don't feel embarrassed for asking because glorantha lore is fucking dense and hard to find in one single place
>>97838878Basically, Elmal was the sun-god worshipped by the Orlanthi; he is originally a member of their traditional enemies, the "Sky Gods" or "Fire Tribe" of the Dara-Happan pantheon, but was befriended by orlanth, and became his thane. There is also another fire-tribe god called Yelmalio, who left the fire tribe proper, and lost his "heat" in a fight with the Trollish demon-god Zorak Zoran; in some versions Zorak Zoran ganked him after he had already lost a fight with Orlanth. They had similar portfolios, though Elmal was never denuded of his fire, and the cult of Yelmalio tended to organize itself as independant temple-communities, the most famous of which are the sun-domes.Some bright spark developer then decided to come along and declare that Elmal is actually just an Orlanthicized form of Yelmalio, and reduce his cult to something that's been pushed out and largely subsumed into irrelevance, leaving the Orlanthi without a -proper- sun god of their own, which a lot of people think sucks.Elmal was a cool god; he is the patron of watchmen and the fyrd, and is associated with the spear, and because of his fire rune affinity, also horses, though his affinity for them is not as strong as many other fire-tribe gods, and most (but not all) Orlanthi cultures are indifferent horsemen.
how after so many fucking years there's not a compilation of actually useful, compressive worldbuilding resources? there's next to 0 guides out there on how to do anything that is not the blandest dnd clone ever and not even in deep, just superficial trash. is worldbuilding a lost technology among nerds?
>>97836873Because you shouldn't need a rulebook to exercise your own imagination.
Your setting must be extremely generic if you think a ready made worldbuilding resource book is gonna help you. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you answered your own question before I could. >>97838024This.

There are dozens of youtube channels, websites, forums, threads including on this board, redzits, discords, and whatever your preferred platform for opinions. Hell, there are probably full books on the subject. How about you look shit up and put in the bare minimum to inform yourself instead of whining that no one is spoonfeeding you.
Does anyone have experience on running two systems simultaneously? I want to inject dungeon crawls with investigative mysteries and the prospect of characters going insane. I figured CoC and D&D would be a good place to start, because I want to move toward a bigger idea I had but need practice.
>>97830819Are you stupid or something? You're just talking about mixing two different genres or styles of play, you're not talking about two different game systems. Unless you are literally talking about merging those two game systems in which case I think you're fucking stupid
>>97838704>you're talking about running two different systemsyeah, that's the topic of the thread
>>97839045lol hater btfo
>>97830819I do not recommend doing two systems at once. Whatever effort to kludge two different rulesets together with some bridge for mechanics is infinitely worse than just homebrewing some addons to one system to do what you need it to do. From the sounds of it, stapling some investigative and mental distress rules onto a dungeon crawler of choice would be your best bet. That said, D&D is not the best choice for this style of game, as its own system mechanics don't really lend themselves to the stressful experience of CoC's going-crazy-because-shit-stopped-making-sense.
>>97839298But it could be rolling a save based on some challenge, which adds stress and tension when failed, which builds over time.

>>97835314It's just something that exist in the background. It isn't a focus in my setting. There are some fairly advanced applications of glass, like it being a information storage medium, but that is because the tech level of my setting is intentionally all over the place.
So I started writing a historical chronicle as a way to populate my setting with towns, castles, and significant political dynasties. The first part covered 6 pages. Now I'm at 30 pages of just chronicle, covering 3 different wars and the time in-between. I know that that is all I want to write about the backstory, but how do I stop making it so long? Each war just takes longer and longer because as the kingdom grows in size and takes more territory and gains more capabilities, the wars it fights grow bigger too.
>>97834974I doubt it, but I can't say I actually know for sure. Even with megafuna farming and raising livestock still would be a far more consistent source of food then hunting ever could provide.
>>97835913Point still stands that the setting can be used for more than dark fantasy.
>>97839266But why would we? Dark Fantasy sells.
