Thoughts on Scion?
I found the celtic pantheon as something silly - as Celtic gods weren't like Zeus or Apollo. They didn't conjure lightning or move the sun.
>>97257539The merged mythology thing from 2e is retarded. Say someone flies to the sun, what do they see? It can't be a chariot, a boat, and a big pile of cow shit at the same time, but 2e says it is, because it's written by cowards.
>>97257539Its good in concept but it doesnt run so good and the books are set up like ass. Bad layout and hard to use. Some solid concepts, but not that great at the end of the day.
>>97275695How will Celtoids ever recover?
>>97257539>You play as a Demigod>There’s a Lovecraft PantheonHow does that work exactly? The Dunwich Horror featured some Lovecraftian Demigods, and I don’t think that’s really something that fits into the setting.
Thread #02 Lean Winter on the TundraPrevious Thread: >>97090196Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887Rules:>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.>Spoiler any OOC discussion.Happy hunting. Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.
God damn shit fuck. Can I go to one social function without running into a monster? I'm at a damn New Years Party last night and three pale motherfuckers crash it. One's 7 feet tall with a beard half that length. One's a short grubby guy in a suit with more grease than hair. And the third was dressed like a holiday themed stripper, pretty much just wearing christmas ribbons. This wasn't even some ritzy upscale party, just a get together of like 20-ish people. The greasy guy said some shit about "new year, new life for you all" but I didn't get much more because the adrenaline had hit and I was going for a weapon. Now I'm beat to hell, laying on the couch. I think they were vampires, because I managed to get beard guy by grabbing his beard and pulling it into the fireplace. He went up like a matchstick. A few other hunters were there, we got lucky. Drove the other two off but now we're all beat up and there's two dozen terrified normies from that party looking for answers. One night, that's all I ask for.
>>97278530Damn that's some shit luck. What happened at your last social function? Also yep, definitely a vampire with how that one died alongside their words. Did he get a drink spilled on?
>>97279515You mean before this? Had to duck out of Thanksgiving for an exorcism, because the spirit was gonna kill the host if we didn't do it then and now. I don't even bother with Halloween anymore, there's always some bullshit on Halloween. Before that I was at an open house where there was a haunting. >Did he get a drink spilled on?Not sure what you're asking here. I didn't see anyone throw a drink in his face. He was whooping my ass during the fight, hit me so hard I went staggering back and almost fell into the fireplace. He was hesitant to follow so I called him a pussy while I grabbed a fire poker as a weapon. That pissed him off enough to get back in my face, when he grabbed the poker I let it go, grabbed his beard, dropped to the ground to use his high center of mass against him, and managed to pull part of it into the fireplace. It burned my hand his beard went up so fast. His pals didn't wanna get close to him, and there wasn't much water for him to put himself out with, so he died screaming running out of the house.
>>97279963Man that is some bad luck. Have you ever checked to see if you're cursed?>FireAh don't worry about it, vampires are weird. Good on you for sticking it to him though, hopefully the others don't bother ya.
>>97281232>Have you ever checked to see if you're cursed?I'm just bitching. I managed to have an uneventful Christmas. >hopefully the others don't bother ya.Now that definitely won't be happening. I'm no vampire expert, but I got a cellmate who knows them a bit better than usual. He says that vampires come in two flavors: Smart with a low profile and loud, aggressive, and stupid. The former basically never make it on Hunter's radar and if they do by bad luck, they prefer to just wipe our minds and move on. The latter make up a good 90% of the ones hunters actually fight, and trying to turn a whole New Years party sounds a lot like the latter. I'll be seeing them again.
Have you ever roleplayed a female character?
>>97234966Only ones I've run games for have been consistently>overbearing about their character build even in games that don't have character builds to the point of just declaring their dnd generic race existed in the game world >didn't understand the rules very well if at all >direct to murder hobo more than anyone else, ready to perceive slight at anything irl or in game>constant references to irl media They're just what we would previously have called spergs. Tabletop games have always had them, they just have a more leveragable social excuse currently.
>>97234966I have one player in an online game I'm convinced is trans (or at least deep into the identity BS) and they're, like, fine. They pay the 2nd most attention despite being on call during the game and the fact they want to fuck everyone means they actually engage with the NPCs on some level. The bard player in my high school game that trooned out was an annoying loudmouth and only got louder after they trooned, as in literally yelling shit at the top of his lungs at random. I do not really miss playing with him at all.

are they fun to play? im debating on either seraphon or flesh eater courts as a 2nd spearhead box to pick upboth seem fun to paint and i like both
Recently I was thinking about alternative combat systems.I remember someone talking about instead of HP the payer has a Jenga tower and he needs to remove peaces once hit, the skill is to remove peaces without the tower collapsingSo I started thinking. For example what if the combat somehow involves cups and balls?Instead of a D20+modifier nonsense why not change it up? Why not give a player 10 balls or legos or whatever and to win an encounter the player needs to land 2 balls in 1 cup? There can be variants of this like a super hard encounter demands the player lands all 10 balls or what about reducing the size of the cup with the difficulty of combat? What if we implement a fate system from Talisman for the players? What if legendary bosses have something like that for themselves? And can negate the players victory? What if different monsters use different "balls" like for example some bone golems will be you throwing legos into cups and zombies are aluminum balls while naga can be gummy bears? That actually makes the monster feel different and not a copy pasted set of numbers. Also the different aerodynamics of these "balls" are part of the fun.Comment too long. >>97276666Well? Why would I want to use it?
>>97277951Did you mean to reply to a different post?
>>97238257We've used a ball toss mechanic with candyland back in the day. You'd draw a card and count the spaces, then have to consecutively land that many balls in cups. You moved only as far as your successful shots, and drank the number you were short. It worked well for our purposes.I can see a human skill based resolution working in some games, but in others it would be incredibly annoying. That being said, jenga for hit points sounds fun.Give it a shot, OP, and let us know how it goes

Sharing useful wisdom that has helped me run more satisfying games. Trying to share some less common advice. These are my opinions and techniques that have helped me. I’d love to hear what has worked for other /tg/ DMs.1. Time pressure- adding time pressure through use of "clocks" including real life clocks is incredibly helpful to add pressure and tension to a scenario. Giving players choices but not enough time to make every choice adds meaning to those choices. Time pressure in combat is a contentious, but powerful tool to discuss with your players. Forcing a decision in seconds makes combat stressful and - when players are on board- fun (in anticipation of the common objection: if the players don’t make a choice in combat, I usually come back to them before round end, I never have them “just stand there”. Remember to assume character competency).2- The GM-ing engine- It's okay to front load content and prepare a few different rail-roady hooks in the first few sessions. Being a GM is like starting one of those old prop engines with a winch. It takes a while for the pistons (players) to kick into gear. Once they do, after a few sessions, all you need to do is apply gas. Solve the tavern problem by figuring out how characters know each other prior to the first session. 3- Immersion means impact- After a session, reflect on how the player choices affected the world (for good or ill), try to let the ripple of that effect emerge in the next session. Players that feel like they change the world around them invest in it.
>>97278784>Time pressure- adding time pressure through use of "clocks" including real life clocks is incredibly helpful to add pressure and tension to a scenario.I disagree entirely. I've had two separate campaigns ruined because the players decided a several-month long timer was too brief for them to do something and, despite being grossly underleveled for it, insisted on approaching the encounter. I pushed them off, redirected them to a side-task but they kept at it, almost every session.
>>97280690This is a fair criticism. What about letting the players fail?
>>97278801>>97278798>>97278789>>97278784>OP thinks people play games here
>>97280690If I may: the technique is very useful to add tension/pressure. Your anxiety-ridden players do not need any additional tension/pressure.
>>97278784Please learn the difference between linear scenario design and rail roading.

Realistically what would life in a world of superheroes where your ability is defined by your bloodline be like? Would eugenics be common place in such a world? Would government affect them if the abilities could range from pointless to Homelander level at best?
Elves are hunted because >Their meat tastes better than anything>Their blood can cure illnesses>Their bones are beautiful and jewel-like>Their hair is nearly unbreakable and can be woven into unbreakable fabric>Their organs have specific propertiesAs a result, they've gone from living like well, elves to basically becoming an entire race consisting of Guts from Berserk.

got a bunch of HH space wolves off fb marketplace dirt cheap but it includes 20 guys who were clearly supposed to be grey stalkers with bolt guns and chainswords.Since that unit is gone in 3.0, is there any way to make that a legal loudout or do I just run them as tactical marines and tell my opponent to ignore the chainswords on their belt?

finished a tank and painted a little flag for the next leman russ. I want that one to have like 3 flags. I hate the font I made up for the "imperium" text so probably replacing that. I have to buy a particular pot of oregano to get the same shape turret in the next tank. Don't really like how busy the power fist guy is and probably gonna remove his red stripes.I painted more, and even made a display board and started painting it but camera's ran out of battery.
well, there's another downside to magnetizing I didn't think of. using a magnet that just isn't strong enough.I used a 5x2 on my armigers and that seemed like overkill. so i used a 3x1 on my ghostkeel's gun which I thought would be fine since it's a little smaller. but nope. fortunately I had enough room to drill room for a second magnet next to it. not as strong as I'd like though.
