I still say either the Fedsuns or FWL should have started making bootleg Vindicators, or at least compatible parts kits to lure away units that are locked into maintenance contracts or at least better enable salvage. Flooding the market would severely damage the cappies ability to dangle it over people's heads

The Wraith is funny in that way, except the FWL is STILL making parts for it, even though main manufacture is in Cappie space.

Deck can only pop off turn 4 and every meta deck is resource efficient or just doesnt care about the prison with how strong their engines are

the two best decks also like going second so turn 4 decks have it rough; Prison doesn't generate the same advantage Bavs could to keep up with all of the aggro decks she powercrept into existence
>>
>>97397775
Prison's only good when people forget about it, as soon as it looks relevant, their opponents just pick decks that either counter it or not care about it at all, which then causes Prison to become irrelevant again.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

if you are the anon and not samefagging, do NOT read the "n00b guide"
The document as a whole pushes a skewed, innacurate view of the OSR, was written by someone who's clearly biased towards AD&D/OSRIC to an unhealthy degree, and is also a hitpiece on anything not outside of the authors narrow one true wayism.
>>
>>97398769
I find his attempted explanations as to why his one way is supposed to be "the true way" funny though.

There's so much left on the table, like he's desperately begging people not to raise any questions. He's such a cart-before-horse thinker that everything he wrote can be summed up as "This is how I personally started playing and I've never questioned anything beyond that first impression." Like those guys who argue that [thing that was realeased when they were twelve years old] is objectively the greatest [thing] of all time.

It is quite funny, especially since he goes out of his way to get any threads that ARE NOT the highly specifically worded hijacked OP (like this thread) deleted! he mass reports it, goes into the thread, and announces reporting/saging (all the while projecting his actions onto us by screaming "Hijack!")
It reeks of deranged autism, and honestly its funny as he thinks he /owns/ this thread.

I was diving in the archives and discovered this thing that /tg/ made a long time ago. Catgirls + an underwater world. It looks like the project withered away and everyone involved left this board ten or so years ago.

So, how was it? Did it ever get off the ground?

It seems like it's agreed that these four pics:

are the original inspiration for the setting. Were they all drawn by the same person? I noticed that all but one of them feature the same waterbus sign, and the one the doesn't have the sign still shows the bus itself, with a consistent design. I'm sort of wondering whether this person ever produced more art in the setting, if so.
>>
>>97373285
Oh hey I remember helping out with this back in the day. It went through a few iterations, and yes, there was original art done for it often, like in the OP image >>97373285 where the person spearheading this particular version asked a friend to do a cover for the book.

As far as I know, this was the last iteration of it that was released. I'll check to see if I still have the book somewhere in my old data.
>>
>>97396808
I'm guessing that art is Japanese, possibly from Pixiv?

I might have image #3, or at least I think I remember seeing on the wikis. We might have to break out Waybackmachine to grab some of these off of the old wiki. 1d6chan's page isn't a complete copy IIRC.
>That pic has a different hash. The image dimensions are the same, though.
Not surprising. I ripped that one from one of the PDFs I have. It might've gotten changed somehow when it was incorporated into the PDF. That might be the only way to save some of these ancient pics. Like pic related.
>This is the first time many of these images have been posted here in over ten years.

I could have sworn I had seen one male with the cones (picrel, Yendor Brethen) but after looking in to it I was clearly mistaken.

No idea why my memory placed cones on his head.

Apparently male Twi'lek were meant to have the same cone ears but someone forgot to make a note of it on Bib Fortuna's prosthetic requisition during the making of the movie.

It was an oversight they just decided to run with. Kind of a shame desu.

>Regardless, from a modern reader's perspective Achilles comes of as one hell of a manchild.
From an uneducated or deliberately ignorant reader's perspective, perhaps.

But, a modern reader who recognizes that Achilles was losing not just a woman who's beauty was compared to that of a goddess, not even essentially his entire purpose in life as well as what he had spent the last ten years building up, but also the reputation/social standing/financial future of all of his descendants, it becomes understandable that he was a little upset.

It was an insult so grave that other men would have killed themselves upon receiving it just to spare themselves and their family the shame, and Achilles instead prayed to his mother, a literal goddess, to help put into action perhaps the one plan that might convince Agamemnon to restore Achilles' honor.

Between his options (Petition a goddess for aid, accept the shame, or commit suicide), I think Achilles chose the least "manchild" option of them all, even if the goddess he petitioned happened to have been his mother. Being pious and asking the gods for assistance was considered a noble trait and was heavily encouraged in their society, so it's hardly fair to attempt to infantilize him for doing so. Everyone from Odysseus begging Athena constantly for help to goddesses physically lifting up their children and favorites out of battle and whisking them away to safety was on the table for the Greeks, so it's hard to point at Achilles asking his mother for help in a situation where he had no other options left as being an emotional overreaction.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!

>This presupposes that the setting is meant to be some equivalent of the real world Earth.
>Literally nothing stops you from doing a masquerade on an alternate "present" or past or future for that matter.
I guess, but at that point you're getting the worst of both. Like it's much harder to world build since you have to do it for both a hidden and open world and people will have less ways to relate to it.

Could still be fun though.
>>
>>97398114
>people will have less ways to relate to it
Eh, you can have an alternate world and still have it be highly relatable. And setting something on an alternate world can free you up from having to crowbar the shit you want to do in around real world history/politics/religions/etc. It's not all downside in that regard.

A good example of this done well is the Ace Combat series. It's set on a completely alien earth just to avoid having to do the stock Ubisoft ass-covering every fucking game.

My knights fought valiantly against the shuggy-wuggy-whateverthefuckit'scalled, but despite charging the perfidious cathayan half-dragon with their lances they only managed to inflict a single wound. I don't want to complain too much right now, but why does this thing get to have better saves, more wounds, better spell lores and better army lore spells (that it doesn't have to pay a tax to take) than a daemon prince for way less points? The jade warriors were there too and they provided enough static CR to force my knights to flee, which resulted in said knights getting pursued, caught, and executed. While this was happening the sentinel smashed my chariot to bits and Quorthon miraculously survived two cannon shots without taking a single wound. He may be a complete failure as a sorcerer, worthless in melee, and very ugly, but clearly the gods love him.

The last two turns of the game could be described by the words "crisis management" and "oh god oh fuck Quorthon cast something please". Perhaps the little shit heard me, because he finally managed to cast Steed of Shadows after five turns of utter ineptitude, which allowed my chaos warriors to fly-march 24" away and attempt to secure their points value and potentially regroup for a daring charge if my opponent got cocky. Meanwhile, my daemon prince somehow managed to bungle 6 spells in a row thanks to the shugengan lord having a longer dispel range than normal wizards. Why, GW, why? Anyway, Dehumanizer's repeated failures would eventually result in him being charged by said shugengan lord, who used his magic blade to bypass my daemon prince's regeneration save and sent him screaming back to the realm of chaos in a single round of combat. Enraged by the death of his lord and master, Ormos screamed out a challenge when the arrogant Cathayan prince charged into what was left of my army. Perhaps as a sign that Ormos was worthy of leading the warband, the pathetic princeling on his prancing pony failed to inflict a single wound on the mighty champion of chaos and ran off to go cry into his dragon-mother's skirt! With my general slain and my only surviving unit being my regiment of chaos warriors, the battle came to an end. A resounding victory for Cathay and a terrible loss for Chaos!

I won't get in to all my mistakes and how I could have won if my daemon prince hadn't been utterly useless for the last three quarters of the battle, but I will say that Cathay seems like a really strong army. Not only do they just get extra special rules for no good reason, my opponent didn't even bring an optimized list and all his units were really powerful. It is obscene in the extreme how good shugengan lords are for their points cost and it's somehow inconceivably more extreme how terrible daemon princes are when you're not running the bog-standard, boilerplate, and boring ogre blade + meteoric iron + extra arm + mark of nurgle + lvl 1 wizard setup. Why do daemon princes only have four wounds? Why does their regen save turn off when they get hit by magical attacks? Anyway, besides my DP sucking and Quorthon continuing to fail me when I need him the most, I'd say I lost this game because I played poorly, which would be reassuring if my opponent hadn't purposefully brought a weak list. Final thoughts: The Cackling Blade is the coolest thing to come out of that new chaos arcane journal and it's not even a chaos item. Spells and attacks that negate armour and ward saves are extremely powerful. The marching column dogs thing seems like it's not as good as people say it is, but maybe I just did it wrong. Decoupling strength from AP was a mistake. Bring back power dice.

You're halfway to understanding the point brother

It really doesn't in any meaningful capacity, I did 3 years in the military and one tour in afghanistan and received a single hour of bayonet training during basic and then never again.

If a woman is strong enough to be accepted into the custodes then her sons would definitely be strong enough. You're losing out on a fuckton of gigachads by sterilising her

• PLEASE BUMP THE THREAD IF IT REACHES PAGE 10!

>Requesters:
• Provide good, detailed references (pictures are better than verbal descriptions), so the artists know what you're looking for.
• If you have a WIP quote the Anchor Post, and attach the WIP so your Drawfag can find you.
• Do not reply to other deliveries with a request that the artist fill your request next. This is called 'piggybacking'.
• Do not make multiple requests in the same thread and do not serially request multiple characters after a delivery. Suggesting several concepts for artists to choose from counts as making multiple requests.
• If you're unsatisfied with your completed request, please wait at least one week before you re-request. If someone follows this rule, don't waste posts by complaining about it.
• Stay on topic.

>Drawfags and Drawfags-to-be:
• Drop your tumblrs/websites/commission/etc information, but if you're dropping your commission info, please consider filling a request beforehand instead of just advertising.
• Please keep AI deliveries to the /slop/ threads. This is a thread for human-made art.
