>>97832722While most of the details are in the document, the main thing is that peeps will be part of a team consisting of T'au, Drukhari, Kroot, and Sslyth player characters, working for a criminal syndicate that focuses on profit above all, and is trying to take and hold territory for the second time in its existence (the first time didn't work out too well). Special Forces in that you're an elite member of the syndicate's enforcer / mercenary division, performing top secret missions for the leadership to secure territory, get paid, and make a name for yourselves. There's something big out there to find, are you badass enough to charge in guns blazing? In your downtime, you can spread the syndicate's corruption through the galaxy. This isn't Chaos corruption in the spiritual sense, but things like Intimidation, Piracy, Kidnapping, Racketeering, Bribery, Militia Manipulation, Black Marketing, and Slavery operations through ground, space, and mass combat operations. You can also join the fight to secure territory in Commorragh, for more bonuses and plunder. You have an entire sector to exploit. Or you could just go fishing. I won't judge.I expect it to be a shorter game, dependent on how many missions peeps want to undertake. While the main objective from my perspective is to test out a bunch of the new careers I made, I do want peeps to have fun akin to Scarface meets James Bond with near limitless options. And for other peeps, recruitment is still open. There's still plenty of space for peeps. You can find all the info in:https://mega.nz/file/ouBF2LLB#tFmXpsdvKA3M6c_aopuJC8Wj1zu_IIDc_5S6rK_Va5A

If the Salamanders are the nicest Loyal chapter who is the nicest Traitor chapter? Who causes the least problems when they invade?
>>97834347An invasion is a pretty big problem. Also note that Traitors don't have chapters, they have warbands, which are almost infinitely less organized and usually consist of whoever the hell the man in charge can bludgeon into following him.If I had to make a guess, though, I'd say a very particular type of Word Bearer, one which lands on-planet, conveniently fails to mention his treasonous behavior or attitude toward the Emperor, and basks in the adulation of the local populace that one of the Emperor's Angels has arrived. They will then slowly convert the populace and undermine authorities, or convert the authorities and sacrifice the populace, or whatever the hell they decide to do with a planet. Probably try to fortify it against Imperial forces, likely as a staging point for future actions. All of these possibilities do still count as problems, though. That kind of comes with being invaded.
Is there ANY miniature wargame that isn't insanely expensive? I'm talking about things you can buy in a box and play immediately, not "print your own minis" bullshit or things where you're forced to use proxies cause official models don't exist.
>>97832341>Is that not covered in the 2020 MOC creature rules?I mean not as clearly, Mike wants to fit everything into Unit Inches...
>>97829248Nigger, that's how value works. Its comparative. You can cope all you want but its still low cost. Get over yourself.
>>97833059Everything is cheap if you compare it to the most overpriced miniatures in the market.
>>97831474>>97831664admittedly it might just be nostalgia on my end but I'd probably just use the old 2001 version of the rules myself since they've always felt like the most in depth, though again that might just be nostalgia goggles clouding my mind
>>97834321I can't blame you; One of the reasons Mike is constantly rewriting the damn thing is he keeps trying to cram in new subsystems or completely overhaul old ones.I go with 2010 because there is a handy online Stat Card Generator while still having a general understanding of how Construction Point Balance Math works.Unit Inches completely ignores WEAPONS; A bazooka cost the same as a pair of knives or an Autogun, NOTHING.It's clear that the current game is suppose to be an even number of Minifigs instead of the older asymmetry that encouraged all sorts of MoCs.Then you've got things like Supernatural Die, which is a really flavorful system for creating ad havoc effects, but still hampered by the need for EACH dice to have it's own "Talisman" (Thank god he switched the wording from "Element") requiring figures that are over-grebbled messes.Or CAPitalism, where a Minifigures specialties are determined by the accessories it currently has.
So, now you need to decide. Do you close your eyes to what you've seen and go back to sleep? Or do you come with this psycho burnout and do the impossible against the unbelievable and keep the future at bay for another day? What's it going to be? In or out?Yeah? You dumb shit.>Thread Question:What’s a moment where your players genuinely surprised you and "broke" your scenario?>Unofficial Resources:https://delta-green.neocities.org

>>97828161it's a light game. not as elegant as knizias, but only a bit harder to teach. you go fast by matching a bunch of symbols together from up to three cards from your hand, plus one from a shared crowd card. there are a number of suits with abilities like cornering, healing, and attacking. whenever you take an action in a suit you advance its skill marker. depending on the crowd's whims you have opportunities to advance the skill marker double. once the skill markers start landing in the bonus zones, your speed when you take those moves gets much much stronger. it turns a game of simple hand optimization into constant tough value judgements of when to prioritize upgrades over your current position. there's not a ton of player interaction, but the mind games around when to shield from attacks and using whips to maximum effect based on position do enough for mevery timeless vibe and plenty thematic for my tastes

>create a system>it's good>but have a huge ego and expect the system to become popular through word of mouth>do 0 PR for the system>do Pikachu face when the system tanksLiterally the story of every new indie system in the last 20 years. What's wrong with people in this industry? Does this industry only attract retards or what? It seems that way because only DND has created an official online service, while the rest believe that Internet is something secondary in the 21st century.
>>97827818D&D did it even worse. They had Critical Role and Stranger Things and the Coof lockdowns make the whole world suddenly pay attention to D&D and what did they do? Released a gimmicky collection of faux-retro Stranger Things adventures nearly a decade after the first season premiered, long after their time to shine had ended, and just before the release of the worst season of the show.
>>97829337Your timeline is incredibly goofy, buddy. The original Stranger Things starter set came out in 2019, the second thing they put out in 2025. The real bag dropping occured with the whole OGL fiasco in 2023 and the incredibly stupid launch of 5.5. Releasing a set of adventures """""based on""""" the final season of an incredibly anticipated show that has a tangential connection to your brand actually makes sense. It wasn't until after the season came out that everyone hated it, after all.
>>97829598I thought there was another one, but only kept finding the hellfire club thing. Still, that's 3 years after the first season, and then 7 more after that, while they were actively releasing the new not-a-new-edition version of D&D, no less. Also forgot about Baldur's Gate 3, which was so massively successful that it made people who exclusively play 5e stop and think>wait, why the fuck is the RPG this vidya is based on such much fucking worse than the vidya? You'd expect them to do some brand synergy, right? Like a campaign setting guide for Faerun like they intended to do towards the launch of 5e? Or maybe a tabletop-ified version of the BG3 adventure with maps and NPC statblocks, and so on. Nope. They made some minis for their dead on arrival VTT service. And then did nothing as BG3 gobbled up all the awards and told everyone how much they hate working with Hasbro and WotC upper management.
>>97829958Yeah, d&d is basically a zombie brand, now, after the ogl shit everyone was either fired or quit. They also didn't do anything for the 50th anniversary, and their "2024" edition wasn't fully released until 2025.
>>97830473>They also didn't do anything for the 50th anniversaryI recall them doing WORSE than nothing by releasing a book about its history that shat on the franchise's origins for being racist in the literal first page.
Pendragon Thread! What's the deal with 6E?
>>97832880Alright, home.Pendragon is an RPG that's been around since the 80s. It was made by Greg Stafford and built on a similar system as Call of Cthulhu (they aren't the same same system, just super similar and homebrewing between the two isn't impossible, just kinda quirky to try and do).The game is built from the ground up to emulate the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Each game session is meant to emulate one year of a knight's life, with feats, adventuring, tournaments, wars, things like that. Since the game internally can run for decades, it also is built on generational play, so you will play one knight, they will have children, one of those children becomes a knight, and when your knight retires or dies, depending on how old the child is they become your new character (typically they need to be 21, but some knights can be knighted as young as 16 in super rare instances, talk with your GM about that). The game has a number of characteristics that define your character physically (strength, size, etc), and those characteristics adjust many of your skills (not all of them though, just most) but only your skills as they are at 14, after that you need to dole out skill points that represent your training as a squire up until you turn 21 and are knighted. Skills cover all knightly deeds, from sword skill and riding horses all the way to recognizing heraldry/individuals and more. The game also has Passions and Traits. Passions are things like one's loyalty to their liege lord, love of their family, and any hatreds they have towards various individuals/families/tribes/nations/etc. Traits are built around one's faith and are always paired as a virtue/sin sort of combo (Chaste/Lustful, Generous/Greedy, etc). The total for each of ones paired traits is 20 (so 15 Valorous/5 Cowardly).
>>97833087All Skills, Passions, and Traits have a soft cap of 20 and increasing them above that expands the crit chance. Now, this is a roll-under system, so you want to roll below your score but you also want to roll as close to your score as possible (especially in opposed tests such as jousting or combat in general as the one closest to their score "wins") and rolling your score exactly is a crit. So if you have a score of, say, 24 then you crit on all 20s as well as all 19s, 18s, 17s, and 16s.In order to increase one's passions, traits or skills, you have to use them generally (there is a chance to increase them through training and the end-of-year winter phase as well). If they are used, you checkmark them and at the end of session you roll and if you roll higher (or roll a 20 if it's already capped) it increases by 1.Lastly, the game is best known perhaps for the Great Pendragon Campaign, a campaign encompassing like 80 or so years of play from 485 to 566, meaning you'll go through a good few knights in the meantime. King Arthur, by the way, becomes known in 510 I think? It might be 515 or any point between those two, I don't have the book right in front of me atm. But yeah, the game is expansive.Magic is also rare and more of a mystical sort, not "magic missile" and "fireball" but shit like "WE CALL ON THE SAINTS TO HEAL THIS KNIGHT" or "the druid calls down a fog to hide your knights from the giants sights."
>>97833107Sorry, had to step away for a moment.Alright, last thing to comment on - "Your Pendragon Will Vary" is a mantra that's been around since I think all the way back in 1st edition in the 80s. Basically Stafford knew players would end up veering stories off in 30 different directions all the time and what style game players would want from the game would vary from group to group. One group might want knights in shining armor on heavy chargers fulfilling quests from faerie kings and queens, another group would want mudcore "chainmail is the only proper armor and kite shields the only proper shield, and no magic or actual miracles" realism. So while the game is, canonically, more in line with, say, the movie Excalibur or even Disney's "The Sword in the Stone" movie (based on a book if I remember rightly), it does give guidelines on how to adapt the game to fit whatever the group overall wants from it.A famous story that was confirmed by Stafford was a female friend of his being asked to play the game with him back in the 90s and she wasn't super interested in it, preferring to play other systems at the time, but finally told him "if I can play a jewish lesbian knight then I'll play" thinking he would scoff and stop asking but he instead said he would have everything ready for her on game day on how to incorporate that sort of knight into the game. Why? Because the Arthurian Legend is one that constantly changes and adapts to fit the times people live in and the stories they want to tell. Hell, the idea of a female knight in an Arthurian-style setting even predated that 90s conversation by centuries, going all the way back to the 1200s with "Le Roman de Silence" about a girl raised as boy who even gets to be a knight and who has to struggle with her identity and the various social norms of her day, settling on using a masculine name, clothing, and presentation through like 98% of the story.
>>97833222>>97833107>>97833087Good show, chap.
