I'm a big fan of using the Dual-Weapon Warrior archetype on bombers. It grants you access to Double Slice (which allows you to make two Strikes with two melee weapons held in different hands, both at your full attack bonus), then Dual-Weapon Thrower, which lets you do the same thing with two thrown weapons. This relies on the Double Brew class feature that alchemists get at level 9, so it's something you'd build towards, but once you've got the requisite feats your combat rotation becomes:

>Double Brew to creature two bombs.
>Double Slice to throw one bomb at your full bonus, then the second with a -2 penalty (since it's not Agile) rather than the -5 you'd normally take.

You're effectively spending your remaining action each round to enable Double Slice and make your second Strike +3 more accurate than it would otherwise be. It's the best thing I've found to spend that action on as an alchemist.

Also: I'd absolutely recommend Demolitionist for bomber alchemists in a Free Archetype game. Bombers require a ton of feats just to remain basically functional in combat, making them desperately feat-starved. The fact that Demolitionist contains not one but two of those must-take feats (Expanded Splash and Directional Bombs) means that you can offload those two to your Free Archetype feat slots and free up some space for more alchemist feats. The downside is that you get them later than you otherwise would, but I think it's worth it. It might be too late for him to do this, but putting off those feats until you can get them via Demolitionist at levels 8/10/12 is probably the best value you're going to get out of your FA slots. You could also go Demolitionist earlier, but that locks you into taking some of the other, less useful Demolitionist feats due to the Dedication rules. There's nothing you really need in the archetype any earlier than Directional Bombs at level 8.

Now it just means the librarian won't give you a nasty glare when you cast a scrying spell to find a book.

Various AD&D/OSR threads are full on cancer with autism shitfights and gay nonsense.

I am looking to run a megadungeon game for some people who never played anything older than 3.5. I've played some of them but it was a while back myself, and I've been mostly doing retroclones for the last little while.

So what I'm asking is to get some takes on AD&D, B/X, AD&D 2e, and BECMI.

Names: Rule Complication vs usefulness, ease of learning, strengths/weaknesses, and ease of acquiring physical copies of the book(s). I don't need any modules and minimizing splats is ideal, so if you feel like any of these "cannot be enjoyed" without X extra book(s) please include that information as well.

It boils down to the fact that Karim Muammar is a liberal Swedish guy who sees this ahistorical fetishisation of the Norse as a white supremacist power fantasy. Unlike the example you gave in >>97709444, there's actual evidence of white supremacists fetishising Norse culture in order to promote their political, and he incorrectly assumed that the Get of Fenris were another example of this.
So, Karim was strongly motivated to demonise, vilify and annihilate any positive trait that the Get of Fenris had. He wanted to turn the entire tribe into dumb white supremacists who the players have to kill and insisted that any other interpretation would either be removing what he saw as their core identity as racists, or allowing players to revel in what he saw as a racist fantasy.
Karim Muammar was incapable of seeing the Get of Fenris as anything other than a racist power fantasy because according to his personal politics, anything that fetishises or celebrates old Norse culture was a dog whistle for white supremacy in his mind.
And as the guy in charge of the World of Darkness at the time, he had the final say. He was so adamant in this belief that he dropped an entire team working on W5 and scrapped most of their work because they refused to kowtow to his whims.

Iwao is from Getsu, although he lived on the outskirts, at the foothold of that mountain range. This means his father had longer commute to work, as most projects are built in the city proper, but he was never the most sociable guy, and it helped prevent eventual bullying Iwao might have suffered if he lived surrounded by other kids from being a pebble. Iwao started visiting the city when he was 5yo, always accompanied by his dad. Initially it was to see the market, later also to help his dad with work by carrying stuff.
Iwao likes being surrounded by people, but it can get a bit overwhelming for him, and at times he misses the peace and quiet of the mountains. He also liked to hike. The view from the peak was the closest he could get to flying. He also misses his dad since they don't meet as often nowadays that Iwao's in the academy. When something happens, like when Iwao sees a pretty bird or a rock, he can be seen looking for his dad to tell him, only to get saddened when he realises he's not there.

Cool table

A simple question: is Kill Teams currently a good, competitive game with decent playability, disregarding wether you are more or less attracted to 40K's lore or the fact that it's easy to find other players due to it being popular?

Also, are there any rumors about a 5th edition so It may be better to wait some time before getting into the game right now?
>>
>>97710627
It's a skirmish game with reasonably good rules, not too hard to learn to play and relatively cheap, since you pnly need a single box to play, and depending on the local gaming scene you can play with whatever the fuck you want as long as it's clear what your models represent. Im playing kasrkin using the old metal model with some other minis to represent what they lack (IG comms troops and medic, old SM scout for sniper)
I find it far, far more accesible than 40k, and it's popular enough to keep in touch with your local gaming community with ease
>>
>>97710627
We do not know about the new edition but it is expected around 3 years after the last edition was released, so if i am not mistaken somewhere later next year. if it is a new edition it is probably again just an updated version of the current one (that is just an updated version of the last one). so if you start now it is better to start with one of the. ewer teams because older temas probably vanish as soo. as the new edition comes out.
>>
>>97710627
>is Kill Teams currently a good, competitive game
No. The only advantage of KT over other skirmish games is piggybacking on 40k's popularity which gives you a higher chance of finding player at your LGS.
Kill Team is not a good game and it's definitely NOT a competitive game. If you want to know if a game is well-designed and suited for competitive gaming perform a simple test - check what Line-of-Sight rules are being used in said game. If a game uses 2D LoS rules it is clear that authors were aiming for the most clear way of determining the LoS to avoid any kind of discussion at the table. If a game is using True LoS and you have to fucking squat to see if your mini sees (lmao) opponent's mini and then argue about this with your opp (which is quite common in a cut-throat highly-competitive environment) you know the authors are lazy fucks. KT has one of the most convoluted and pointless cover rules I have ever seen in my life and I constantly see people following a fucking flow-chart to know if they determine it correctly.
When you play with friends it shouldn't matter of course but unlike some people claim, the competitive scene is very proxy-unfriendly since because of the TLoS the mini's shape and size DO matter.

What is a good system for platoon level ancients/medieval?

Like around 30 models per side, larger than squad actions of like 5-15, but smaller than army actions of like 50+? Basically the largest amount of men a single officer could command in detail. The smallest scale where you command groups of models instead of single models.

Well, then being annoyed about historical inaccuracies in the specific cases where the GM claims that there's real life historical basis for something is understandable. What kind of stuff are we talking about here?

>>97707552
To be clear, are these examples of things GM claims to be historically grounded, or just the way things work in his setting?

>just weird ahistorical concepts like separation between person and office
Is that ahistorical? Looking specifically at medieval Europe, maybe, but for, say, Romans electing consuls and praetors and quaestors for a year and then electing a new bunch to fill the same offices next year, or for Athenians choosing their officials by lot, I don't think that kind of separation would've been an alien idea.
