would a elden ring tabletop game would work?
>>
No

That style of organic world building can not be done in a ttrpg medium
>>
Solo boss-rush tactics boardgame thats more like a puzzle trying to figure out every room? Maybe two players?
Just making it a party based ttrpg and sprinkling the setting on top seems a bit lazy.
>>
>>97710860
Board game - maybe, but it would be likely a clunker in stile of The Witcher
TTRPG - not at all
>>
>>97710860
Would work better as a board game. Check out Kingdom Death.

Marching through the deep Edition

>What is this?
/TG/ DEVELOPED A GAME
IT IS PLAYABLE. IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.
EXPEDITION is a ~1880s era, Jules Verne-inspired retro-futurist, underground blood soaked adventurescape.
It is a Skirmish wargame. Two players with their own expeditions, on a hexgrid map, explore & fight each other for victory and profit.

3 versions of the rules exist, 2 of which have been playtested. The main one is 2e, to be found :

I like this, with a few caveats. I do think that 500 surviving out of 15000 is pretty intense, even by "horrible morale-shattering defeat" standards. The heat-rays are in TWotW canonically invisible, although I can't complain overmuch if they're made to be colourful since most adaptations do that including Jeff Wayne.

I'm not sure that a museum of natural history would display a taxidermized horrible human conglomeration corpse, but I could easily seeing them displaying the thing's skeleton.

Calling the Tripods Tripods make sense, what with their three pods, but I'm not sure why they would refer to Hyperwarriors by their actual name. Maybe something like "Jungle Ghosts" or the Spanish equivalent.

Portugal showing up even briefly is a good touch. The UK did historically like to prop up nations that owed it money (The Ottos OTL) but them only sending material aid is still in-character.

A sentence to emphasize that the US was able to form the PACT at all because the other nations were exhausted and/or on the verge of collapse would probably help explain why they can enforce such harsh terms on everyone. Especially Brazil.

>500 surviving out of 15000 is pretty intense, even by "horrible morale-shattering defeat" standards
I was envisioning something quite desperate: if they stay in the city, they'll burn to death or they'll be atomized by the tripod. If they flee, they'll get hunted down by hordes of mutants. Either way they are sitting ducks. The ones who survived are the ones who somehow hid in the jungle until dawn.

>I'm not sure that a museum of natural history would display a taxidermized horrible human conglomeration corpse
I imagine the skeleton option would make more sense.

>Maybe something like "Jungle Ghosts" or the Spanish equivalent
Maybe "enmascarados" (masked ones)?

That reminds me of Luchadors, which is fitting and funny in a way I cannot describe.

I was thinking about the tone of Agartha lore today.
>1848-1875:
>"Italy has burned, Paris is lost, Paraguay is empty and the dead walk in Anatolia. Truly, the world has gone mad."
>1875-1914:
>"I'll beat those dastardly Sky Pirates to the ancient Atlantean treasure and win the hand of the Amazonian Queen or die trying, now who's with me men?"
>1914-0001:
>"Untold aeons of ineffable strife have begun. The Loop turns once more. All is lost."

Personally, I'm most fond of the middle. There are less wargames in that sort of spirit nowadays.

It really is glorious. An age of romantic adventure and exploration, made all the more precious by how brief it is. An age of cowboys, samurai, adventurers in the jungle consorting with amazons and running from ancient dinosaurs, cold knights waging war on horrific monsters, lemurs, and gorgs. God, what a setting.

So your issue isn't actually with V20, but with its presentation, and that it takes an agnostic approach yo the meraplot and timeline, all which others generally consider strengths, i.e. take the rules and then play wherever and whenever?

Because that sounds like a deeply autistic reason for such a hardline stance and the accompanying vitriol.
>>
>>97710827
>the assumption that the original was scrapped because of the thinblood premise.
Are you suggesting there wasn't a huge negative reaction from fans when they announced their intentions for the game? Because there was. To the point the game was handed off to a different developer, they ditched Hardsuit Labs and handed it to The Chinese Room, and the co-founded Dan Pinchbeck tried to convince Paradox to ditch the name Bloodlines 2 altogether, that there "wasn't enough time or money" to actually make that game, that his company wasn't going to finish someone else's project and instead would do something new, and that everything the previous dev team did was wrong. Here, you can listen to him talk about it yourself, skip to 48 and a half minutes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyWDyNLAo1E&t=1s

He specifically says the whole story had to be scrapped, besides all the technical problems with what they'd been handed.
>>
>>97710882
>still zero proof, only headcanon
So much text for zero gain.
>>
>>97710882
Not the anon you replied to, but Paradox, generally, is fucking blind and stupid, they'd not be the sort to be receptive to fan sentiment. You can basically see why the first version of B2 got canned in the Paradox press release around the swap of studios.

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/paradox-on-bloodlines-2-we-had-a-game-we-could-do-but-maybe-not-with-the-team-we-had

>The site also thanks Hardsuit for their work to date on the game, adding, “We’d like to take this opportunity to honor Hardsuit Labs for their efforts and thank them for their hard work on the project. The studio has done a tremendous job in laying the foundations for the game and we hope that you, the community, will also appreciate their contribution to Bloodlines 2.”

>The studio has done a tremendous job in laying the foundations for the game

They thanked Hardsuit Labs for 'laying the foundations' of a game delayed several times. They do this in February 2021, when the game was meant to release somewhere in 2021.

In essense, it appears there just wasn't a game. There were models, a story, some half-baked systems and other stuff. Hardsuit Labs proved unable to actually make a game, no matter the amount of delays and money, so they were dropped, with even the public statmenents basically saying they failed to deliver in any way.

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

Naw, this is faggot shit. The Christians, Muslims, and maybe Jews of Trench Crusade are good guys, sometimes extremely desperate good guys, fighting for creation to not further unravel and a right to exist in it.

Hell is fucking trying to impregnate people with fly aids babies and doing what Jews wish they could do with loans. On top of sending people burnt to a fucking crisp like an army of Major Toms after a botched re-entry.

They are
but the Hell folk have reasons as to why they do what they do as well. Not good reasons, but justifiable in their minds.
>>
>>97709395
Yeah I'm sure they do, just dude who thinks it's ok to rape women because they deserve it for being immoral (dressing in a skirt and tank top). They are objectively bad, though they may rationalize it in their head as them being "good". The thing is with TC and even ITT people argue that the conflict is nuanced and complex when it isn't at all. Hell is evil and heaven is good. Yes I'm sure sometimes a heretic does something actually good and a faithful person does something bad (though we have no lore on a heretic doing a good thing) the exception proves the rule. As I saw someone say a while a go: "Some of the faithful do bad stuff and it's usually out of desperation. The faithless/fallen all do bad stuff and they're the belligerents"

I think if someone tried to talk to a heretic about how "they're actually the good guys in their own eyes and not necessarily the villains" that person would be immediately skinned alive and tortured for twice as long as the usual captive because Good itself is anathema to them and the only reason for their existence is to promote and serve evil.

Various AD&D/OSR threads are full on cancer with autism shitfights and gay nonsense.

I am looking to run a megadungeon game for some people who never played anything older than 3.5. I've played some of them but it was a while back myself, and I've been mostly doing retroclones for the last little while.

So what I'm asking is to get some takes on AD&D, B/X, AD&D 2e, and BECMI.

Names: Rule Complication vs usefulness, ease of learning, strengths/weaknesses, and ease of acquiring physical copies of the book(s). I don't need any modules and minimizing splats is ideal, so if you feel like any of these "cannot be enjoyed" without X extra book(s) please include that information as well.

>Race-as-class simplified a lot, although it did make halflings (sort of like a Thief but max level 8 without much compensation) and dwarves (Fighter maxing out at Lvl 12 instead of 36. Make what you will of that) ruleswise superflous.

Halflings in Basic were pretty much Fighter/Thieves (or Rangers considering their wilderness focus) while Dwarves were basically Fighter+ (better saves, better hp, Infravision and the ability to detect funky stone work). They and Elves were more or less balanced with the "human" classes in BE until Companions increased the "human" level cap from 14 to 25 and as a result they created "Attack Ranks" for the demi-humans so they could still participate against opponents meant for level 14+ characters.
>>
>>97710747
I thought the CMI part of BECMI went up into the 30s levelwise, are you telling me humans can gain 30 more levels than an elf, dwarf, or halfling??
>>
>>97710186
B/X was designed for 12 year olds. I think you can handle it.

>I thought the CMI part of BECMI went up into the 30s levelwise, are you telling me humans can gain 30 more levels than an elf, dwarf, or halfling??
Less than 0.01% of D&D sessions are played at over Expert level, and all of those are at Companion level. M and I are beyond ridiculous and are barely worth it as a comedy read. The bane of D&D is not accepting the game turns into something worse than Powered by the Apocalypse at high levels, and that's a grave insult indeed.

Is this game good? I played with the really early starter decks recently (the adventure ones with the tamers on the box) and it felt quite sluggish but the power system was really fun.
Then I played some much later decks and... Every card had like 3 effects and wierd summoning fusion requirements and a lot of other stuff. Basically every turn took forever because we were trying to read and understand the abilities and when they trigger. Game felt a bit too leniet with the ordering etc.

Then I played some Yu-Gi-Oh speed duel and the game just goes so smoothly and things work.tm
Then I played a bit of the new Pokemon decks and the pacing was really nice and easy to understand with clear abilities.

I'm geniunely not a hater or anything my girlfriend loves digimon and collects the game but its really a pain to play am I missing something?
>>
>>97710861
How the hell is yugioh smooth to play? And yugioh doesn't run fucking smooth at all it runs like a nuclear missile with all destructive power but no breaks.
>t played yugioh for 10 years

Digimon can feel a bit bricky sometimes depending on the quality of decks. However the meta in this game is in most part very balanced and the pacing of the game is very back and forth. Digimon never have more than 3 effects on a card. Once you learn the actual mechanics i would say its fluid. Overall its much easier to pick up than something like yugioh and magic and harder than pokemon and one piece

Thread title. In brief, I had a player who said that he couldn't continue playing unless I could confirm that his PC wouldn't be killed.
I told him "That's up to you, if you get unlucky your PC could indeed die" and he insisted that his PC's death would sort of ruin the plan he had for him. I said "Yes, that's what

Seems like player and GM talking about their expectations of the eventually upcoming game is reasonable.
Getting pissed about it on /tg/ seems childish.
And in general I have to agree with >>97707584 for the most part. Death doesn't have to be the only outcome of a failed combat encounter. Especially if you play something other than fast and loose dungeon delve tactics where a new character is made in a few minutes.

If you set up your group for a grand adventure and campaign where their backstories and characters matter by going from zero to hero, then it is absolutely a legit stance to keep character death to a minimum or even off the table.
Conan got captured like a retard in his movie. As a GM you could of course have random mooks slit his throat in a dogpile. Or you could have the evil wizard give him an evil speach, embarrass and wound him further, then cast him out like the defeated dog he is. Movies do it all the time and there is no reason why a GM can't do the same since he has all the power in his hand.

Does this mean you should let PCs off the hook when players insist on retarded shit like: "My fresh character makes a dive down the 50 feet steep cliff on rocky terrain!" expecting to stay alive? No. Of course not. I have to assume you play with actually people and not walking strawman arguments. Should this situation still occour you can always say: "No. That would kill your character, which you stated, you don't want to happen. Try something else."
It's really that easy.

So I read about world of darkness, mostly the werewolf module, and there's something I don't understand: I get that the general idea is that werewolves are really close ot losing because centuries of attacking hapless civilians and barking at the wrong tree have made them easy target for Pendex propaganda, but how does it work on a session to session basis?
Are players ever meant to be able to help with the global situation, or is it too big for them?
I have trouble imagining how you're meant to make a campaign that ends on a positive note for your players while respecting the World of Darkness' tendency of everything being shit.

Picture unrelated.

I don't like using archetypes because then it doesn't feel like I'm making a deck, I'm just following a blueprint. My deck is likely incredibly ill-advised.

the issue I'm having is even if I wipe the board can't this cunt just do the same thing again? He's running an archetype. Every single card in his deck can lead to 15 card combos.

I'm intentionally handicapping myself because I want to have fun deck building and theory crafting but those cool theories just shatter the moment I go against a real opponent and realize if I don't follow a blueprint I'm just fucked
I'm trying to brute force fun out of a game

I'm toying around with my next big setting-building exercise being a sort of skeptical solarpunk. The basic premise would be that 15 years ago, the PCs were cadre in the green anti-capitalist revolution that violently overthrew the old government and ushered in systemic change at every level of society. Means of production: seized. Corporations: dissolved. Wealth: redistributed. Fossil fuels: banned. Go down your wish-list of wet-dream progressive utopia stuff: you get all of it.

And yet, despite their revolutionary hopes, the world is not perfect. The resource scarcities that weakened the old regime still exist, exacerbated by ideological constraints. Trade has broken down due to embargos from the surviving global imperialists and squabbling with other revolutionary states. A revolution that promised to share wealth with all now struggles to provide even basic necessities, worsened by a flood of climate refugees that the government seems incapable of controlling. Endless bickering factions in the Central Revolutionary Council vie to one-up each other in ideological purity, while behind the scenes power aggregates to a shadowy bureaucracy ruled by ruthless apparatchiks. The world might have more solar panels and wind turbines, greenhouses and vertical gardens, e-bikes and high-speed rail, but it has less energy, less food, and less freedom-of-travel than what came before.

As a Hero of the Revolution, the PCs are entrusted with responsibility over their own small commune of this brave new world. They are the go-to fixers of the community, handling everything from complaints about the bland cafeteria food to rooting out capitalist sympathizers. They have to fight off interference from superiors, disloyalty from subordinates, and discontent from the people in their charge.

Head wings are inherently retarded
They're never even remotely big enough to bear the weight of the animu waifu they're attached to, and even if they were she'd be bearing all that weight on her fucking neck.
>b-b-but she has regular wings on her butt!
THEN SHE DOESN'T NEED THE HEAD WINGS, RETARD

>Yet another grim deconstruction of solarpunk that insists the monkey's paw must curl in order to effect change for the good of the earth, assuming the changes even stick
>>
>>97709855
I mean, yeah? "Yet another" makes it sound like you've seen this a lot, but I can't think of many. My main touchpoints were New York 2140, Disco Elysium, and The Dispossessed, none of which fall too close to the main idea. A big complaint about solarpunk is that it's just an aesthetic, and that there aren't really any stories being told there.

Unless you're complaining about "grim deconstructions" in general, which definitely are pretty overdone. I think it's a tough line to walk between thinking seriously about downstream consequences versus just jumping to "everything's shit because humans are shit." But I think it's worth acknowledging that major changes are messy and painful, and that well-intentioned people can disagree about substantial topics. I don't think that's just monkey's paw pessimism.

I actually do have a monoblack discard pile but I just instalose if I'm on the draw/I don't hit a turn 1 discard
But my problem is with Azorius piles that also run removal and stuff like Authority
Maybe I should just scoop whenever I see an island

play some control and find out first hand how miserable going second against aggro decks is. counterspell fell out of favour in Modern because 1-mana threats got so good that spending a 2-mana card to counter them just puts you behind.
control also hates recursive threats, hand disruption, and cards that they can't remove.
not very relevant these days but in theory the ultimate counter is unironically being better at the control mirror (always one of the most skill-testing matchups) and being the 'bigger,' more controlling control deck.

Thread Question
I don't play these formats. But I would like to have all the missing cards added for "Pioneer".

What is the URL now?
Last year I toured the scraps of the original 8ch. Some boards were gone, others were there but had most if not all their images offline. Some had been spammed with text bots purging what little history remained. Sad to see, wish I could go back in time to really appreciate it all. Never knew what we had until it's gone.

I don't know if it's archived somewhere. I haven't looked at infinity chan since it went down over the political BS years ago. That being said, here's everything I've got from that period. It's not _everything_ that was on infinity, but it's got significant amounts of fanart. I've also included my various photoshop files, etcetera.

The main place people migrated is 8ch dot moe. Alternatively some people went to the "webring" of ex-8ch boards that link each other via a unified board list, like zzzchan.xyz.
