Is it any good?, Can any kickstarter backer who hasn't yet died from old age share the pdf link?

Goddamn do I hate that art style.
>>
>>97183414
Why?
>>
I can't fathom what it would mean that the kickstarter obligation gets fulfilled *now* instead of the presumably soon-ish (within 10 years) ending or at a more reasonable earlier time.

Anyway I couldn't back it back then so I suppose I'll have to mooch off the generous.

Well, the guy is a lazy procrastinator but I don't think he set out to scam people, so I imagine it's just due to feelings of guilt.

Isn't this shit like fifteen years overdue? Why not just release it to everyone at this point?

Normal people:
>Valiant Hero Jozzrozz
Wizards of the Goatse:
>Jozzrozz, Valiant Hero

Why are they like this?

It's difficult to explain why exactly I dislike it so much. It would be fine as a novel way of giving characters titles if they hadn't overused it to death. It's become all the more obnoxious with the crossover sets and proliferation of commander because now every second card uses this convention

If you are really asking, it's because it's easier to find cards in a database if you give them the same qualified (The character's name) and then the titles to specify which version of the card you are looking for.

It would be incredibly annoying to find a specifc Jace card, for example, if he was called "Mind Sculptor Jace" rather than just Jace, the Mind Sculptor, or at least was when it was only the gatherer and physical booklets to find cards. Of course, now it's much simpler with scryfall and such, but now it's a standard they have no reason to change now.
>>
"Adjective Noun Name" isn't a standard construction in english either. It's much more common in japanese though.
>>
>>97183963
That's fair but they don't do this consistently, or do this for cards with only one version

GW kits would have 50% less parts if they made 3 part molds like every other fucking model maker
What the fuck do they have against this decades old technology?
They even use it on the baneblade kit so why not on everything else?
>>
>>97183411
>Look how good nuMkIII look with the old helmets.
Now I'm scared of seeing the new heads on the old bodies
>>
>>97184120
Reminder that FW to this day does not use vibration or vacuum to remove air bubbles from their resin casts, despite both those methods being decades old technology by now.
>>
>>97184120
Because it's cheaper and there is a bigger number of parts. The sprue gets filled by stuff that would have left a place for options too so those can be sold for an extra without making people feel like there is part of the kit missing. It's also marketing
>368 components? Woah!
Ignore the fact that things like tacticals come without the special/heavy weapons, that they are incompatible with the old resin upgrades, that they have different proportions than what we've had for 10+ years, etc...

>What is this?
/TG/ DEVELOPED A GAME
IT IS PLAYABLE. IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.
EXPEDITION is a ~1880s era, Jules Verne-inspired retro-futurist, underground blood soaked adventurescape.
It is a Skirmish wargame. Two players with their own expeditions, on a hexgrid map, explore & fight each other for victory and profit.

3 versions of the rules exist, 2 of which have been playtested. The main one is 2e, to be found :

Here's a version from me:
>6 BAPs with rifles and bayonets
>1 Sergeant with rifle and bayonet
>1 Modern Major General
>2 Auxes with Spears and Ancestral Weapon
The gimmick is to make a firing line. The general lets you be fancy if you want but the main gimmick remains.
>>

In the rules book there are two versions of dodging:

- If the Evasion roll equals or beats the Accuracy roll, the Attack fails

-This action may be taken outside of a model’s Activation if he still has the AP to pay for it. During an Attack in which this model is the target, a successful (didn’t roll over the target number) Defense roll result equal or higher than the Attack roll means the Attack failed completely. A Critical result cancels the attack and lowers your Dread by 1.

Also, I think I've missed thr "critical evasion lowers the dread" part every game.

>>97181159
So the units under the influence of smoke get +1 evasion and -1 accuracy?
>>
Also, here's one for climbing. Can climbing units move beyond walls composed of 2 or more wall hexes?

doctors did actually misreport Spanish flu though, just in the other direction. Spain ironically was the only one reporting cases correctly, everyone else underreported and then got smug about how low they thought their numbers where even though they were all at a high risk of dying from it. pretty much the same thing that happened with AIDs too. Why do DMs love putting paladins into 'you must fall' scenarios?

the paladin in oots fell for very avoidable reasons that were entirely caused by the paladin's own actions tho.
>>
>>97183946
They rarely are though. Moral quandaries and ethical dilemmas are, all too often, just long, nice-sounding words that have no place in a game about armed robbery with violence.
Until someone rolls a paladin. Then suddenly it's the Thomas Aquinas discussion forum.

Wholehearted agreement. Problem is that there's plenty of them, or it's an easy mantle to wear for a night (we all have our off days, after all)

And yeah, other classes do have their own dilemmas, which is a reason why nobody plays good clerics with strict deities and druids are the most unpopular class around
>>
>>97180635
In my games, usually the Paladins/Champions/whatever's personal quest is either redeeming another character or smiting something from their past in service to their god

Anyone that fell did it intentionally to get the specific character stuff, pre-planned with the GM

What these guys said about copyright protection, but also, WHFB just wasn't selling very well. By the early 2010s it had entered a spiral of decline: it was outsold by 40k, so GW put most of their resources into 40k, which meant no new releases for WHFB, which meant even more people moved to 40k.

Unfortunately, 40k wasn't doing all that well either at that point. Basically Space Marine sales were holding the whole company up.

GW in the early 2010s was a textbook example of what happens when the original founders leave a successful company and it gets taken over by MBAs. If you're selling widgets and widget A is selling better than widget B, then you put more money into A and cut production of B. Logical, right? Except GW wasn't selling widgets, they were selling a game. So management dumped everything into Space Marines, without it occurring to them that while some players might like playing *with* Space Marines all the time, only playing against other Space Marine players gets kind of boring.

WHFB is doing badly? Make a setting that's more like 40k. And make the main faction more like Space Marines. We'll cram so many Space Marines into this bad boy you wouldn't believe it. And we can copyright everything now, because as every MBA knows the only way to be successful in business is if you can sue all the competition.

Which, to borrow a military metaphor, is like if you position your troops on the high ground where you have a commanding view of the entire area, but then realise it's kind of hard to defend so you march them down into a swamp instead. Hey, easy to defend with all that muddy water, and no one else even wants it. Hence Astra Militarum instead of Imperial Guard, Aeldari instead of Eldar, etc, etc.

To this day, I am convinced that the execs at GW had no idea what the Total War franchise was or how popular it was. They were just fumbling around in the dark and when CA asked to license their IP they were like 'okay, what do we have to lose?'. Up until that point GW had been fairly stingy licensing its IP to game companies (famously, Starcraft only exists because GW was too controlling to let Blizzard make the 40k game they wanted to make) but that period marked a change of strategy to 'throw everything at the wall and see what sticks'.

The key point here is that WHFB was canned just BEFORE the first Total War game came out. GW had convinced itself that WHFB was struggling because consumers didn't like the IP, rather than because of their underinvestment and mismanagement. And they had no idea what all that new fangled video game nonsense was about. They had already made the decision to replace WHFB with Age of Sigmar (because everyone loves Space Marines, right? Right?!), and it was a complete shock to them when Warhammer: Total War turned out to be extremely popular.

So that's why they killed Warhammer Fantasy only to revive it later as The Old World. GW management was (at least at that time) totally incompetent, and the company only stumbled into its present success through sheer blind luck.

>>97162396
Because it sucked. It was a soulless rip-off of 40k that just happened to be made by the same company, made not because there was any creative vision behind it but because the GW execs thought they could boost profits by turning WHFB into 40k. The definition of corporate slop.

Cheap-looking art, incoherent writing, shitty rules, and of course they killed the original, founding setting of GW to make it.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: How often does Bulk come up in your games? What do you do to make it interesting?

There's a weird situation where a giant troll (think LotR movie) with a whole tree trunk as a battering ram is likely going to do less damage to an homogenous iron gate than a smaller axe-like object.
>>
>>97183782
That's actually true, but the FAQ also states it should apply in melee so they just left it out by accident, lol
>>
>>97183782
But SM is defined as "a modifier to rolls to hit you in combat". Doesn't say only ranged combat.
I remember a story my GM told me about some guys who said finding the sun during daytime was difficult in GURPS because the sun is very far away and relatively small. So you know, sometimes GURPS can suck if you use it wrong.

Maybe I'm looking at an older version of Basic or another FAQ, but the one on the official site is explicit on this matter.
>>97183824
It also doesn't say how you apply it. It's an awkward writing that leaves a lot to be desired but GM fiat, as in Rule Zero, would reach the same conclusion as the FAQ and Combat Writ Large that SM-4 leprechauns punching each other would take -4 to hit is stupid and the modifier should be relative.
Just to be clear, I agree it deserves a proper 'errata' in the new book.
>>
>>97183824
It's not listed under melee combat or melee combat modifiers, while it is under ranged

You have represent Your Dudes in any gang by reskinning it. There are almost no rules in the game so mechanically unique/original that they immediately call to mind the culture or qualities of a single gang, and would be non-immersive if utilized by proxied models.

The fact that, as you say, Venators have very strong rules, gives away the truth -- these mythical yourduders weren't that interested until the pick me gang obtained powerhouse rules.
>>
>>97181749
Wrong. The first paragraph starts out, "Necromundan Bounty Hunters are a hugely varied class of individuals" and then later states "Some border on being classified as death cults." The subject never changes from one sentence of the paragraph to the next. It is always Necromundan Bounty Hunters.

An individual cannot be classified as a cult or cults. Which means we know the first paragraph about hugely varied individuals also applies to organizations of those individuals. So Necromundan Bounty Hunters are a hugely varied class of individuals, and a hugely varied class of organizations.

The second paragraph first describes Bounty Hunters with near-religious attitudes, and then it further narrows down that category into the oldest traditions. These are not the same sets. There are Bounty Hunters with a near-religious attitude, and then among those Bounty Hunters is a subset of those with the oldest traditions of Bounty Hunting that has a religious attitude (and they do the rest of the stuff you don't like).

Be honest. Are you Polish? Russian? Finnish? Is this a Baxx or JawRippa situation? Your skill at interpreting English is imperfect compared to a native speaker, but I am impressed with your ability to speak at all.
>>
>>97183185
Not that anon, but English is like my third language he is clearly having a case of 84%
As in 84% of people do not understand what they read.
Because even throwing the text into a shitty translator it clearly indicates that some venators go cultist and that is not the norm.

>Regardless of what Cannibal actually is, it, the Ventrue Antribu, the Giovanni, and a small throng of 'Skinned Monstrosities' (which I believe to be something like a shovelhead tactic courtesy of the Cannibal) attacked the MSHS, just when the locals and the South Camp were unprepared and divided across the area. Killed or injured almost everyone of the blood there and wiped out a third of the wolves present.
>How were were able to pull this off? We had a rat.
>The "Sabbat" after cutting a bloody swathe through the school cornered a bunch of our blood in the excavated space near the \Flesh Mouth,' including the Carnival Coterie. The Cannibal barked and apparently 'Show-Master' opened the door to let them in. Despite that blatant betrayl, thanks to some of the Loup (and my planning for the worst) a good portion of my people managed to escape and actually relayed this to me. As bad as it was because I was a bit paranoid I have half of the community instead of no one.
>Critically they also used some of the hunter munitions to light the place up, burning down the school on the way out. While this probably didn't actually do anything to the Clique of northern invaders, it denied them access to the Flesh and stopped their plans for the moment.
>Unfortunately this ambush cost us all a lot. We essentially had our numbers cut in half for a second time and the Southern Loup camp is in tatters. Without Big-Pipe-Club they might not even be able to remain functional.

>Number 2; The Northern Camp Loup were given a direct path to the Hunter HQ at Saint Christopher's church and they took it. Rolled over the hunters in a two pronged attack and ripped them apart. The leader of the hunters was present there, Father Trenqueval, and personally attempted to resist. When the Loup broke into the church he lit himself and the church up to avoid being taken alive. Something he didn't prepare his subordinates for. After the Church went up with the Father inside they splintered. A handful went on the attack or pulled out to safe-houses, but it would seem the majority began pulling out along the south-road on the Highway. After the wolves finished up there and finished their rampage they withdrew. It seems like the North Camp Wentiko still has plans. Plans they aren't sharing with their cousins in the south Camp.
>Otherwise there were a handful of other problems. Hunters tried to attack the local Elysium being guarded by our Toris and caused some serious damage to property and life. A couple of similar like-minded hunters went after the survivors from the school raid but seem to have been driven off by local 'peace-keepers.' A gift horse I won't look in the mouth.
>For myself; I spent the better part of the other night stalking through the forest with my new allies hunting after the Malk. Weird experience I'll say, but one that ultimately panned out better than I expected. Turned up a cabin in the woods where the queer trio were holding the Malk. Trying to, anyways. When we kicked the door in they were trying to pry my girl off the ceiling. After a bit of verbal destruction and a rude interruption from the freak with a flower tattoo, we managed to hash out an agreement. Seems they too are here because of the meat-monstrosity. After hashing out an agreement I came away with a few more members of this very odd entente.

>Right now Marquette is a bit of an anarchy, city is depopulated, fires being put out mostly by volunteers. No idea where the "Sabbat" are but their intentions remain fixed on the bedrock, and they're like to try again, although it seems those who survived the night still want to throttle them.
>A handful of Hunter cells remain scattered across the city. Seems despite their precarious situation they are still dedicated to whatever brought them here. Thankfully this is a few dozen people in compare to the few hundred they started with. Wish I could say I was happy about this. At least I got the Cat back with me.
>More updates as they come. Marquette out.

Not so. Apparently that entire PENTEX network tried buying out NWBP but drove them into private ownership and government contracting to avoid a corporate take-over.

Yea fuck you too.

And the survivors.

>"Miss Q"
>[Kicking] Absolutely ballistic about the counter-purge and unholy Freak, has history with it

>"Mister Nice Guy"
>[Ashed] Apparently was one of the people that got snuck up on at the perimeter, Cannibal ripped him apart and diablerized him

>"Mister War Crimes"
>[Ashed] Gutted by the Black Knight in the opening move and probably haunting us

>"Mister Y"
>[Kicking] Took some pretty gnarly injuries, but hardy enough that doesn't seem to be an issue, powered by hatred

Terrible news.
Mother summoned the family to the main hall of the mansion and had Big Toy get Scarlet, the top ranked and most beloved mortal soul under this roof. Then Mother said there was a special announcement concerning her, and Scarlet's eyes were sparkled with joy. She entered the room wearing the black gown uncle made for her.

"Boy Toy, get rid of the disobedient kine." That was the 'special announcement.'

In the blink of an eye, his fangs sunk in Scarlet's neck as he cries blood. Mother leapt close to them, seized his arm, and bit his radial artery, she did it from the front, so she could watch their terrified faces up close and savor their despair as well as his vitae. Now I understand why Mother chose the red dyed chinchilla to wear inside tonight.

Uncle fell silent, Blue Fairy and Princess Charming were in shock, I was paralyzed by a fear that my younger brother was going to get diablerized. Meanwhile, Mercury Lamp was giggling and clapping with those little hands.

Mother was at the height of pleasure, joining the sadistic delights of utterly ruining the girl's ambition, and the relationship between the two, with the taste of his vitae, an unholy trinity, the true face of the Venus in Furs, who transfixed Boy Toy as he killed the redhead.

He loved Scarlet, so inventive in her passion for wickedness. Sometimes she treated him like a Bishop treats their servants, or she would bite her own tongue as an excuse to spit in his mouth.

I hate to admit this, but I never had a disciple as motivated as this fuzz-loving metalhead, she dreamed of becoming one of us and was willing to do anything.
