Honestly, the CTF-1X. It's great in 3025.

With newer tech, the CTF-4L. You really can't go wrong with a GR and an ERPPC.
>>
>>97175626
People are extra sensitive about it having a gauss rifle in the side torso with an XL like there aren't countless designs that put ammo racks and such there too.
>>
>>97176158
People have an issue with IS XL engines in general.

>>97168005
If you want Assault Mech speeds stick to Assault Mechs.

Heavy Mech's with a 3/5 movement is just like walking outside wearing an A-frame that says "Rape me here"
>>
>>97176158
In my experience stuff like that only really matters if you care about salvaging or the pilot surviving. I can understand being a bit miffed if you're playing a more long form campaign style game and you end up with a mech with exploding torsos because whoever gets in that will probably die eventually.
>>
>>97175819
Not really, no. This is a deliberate part of the setting, because if it's too easy to shoot down DropShips, ground forces can't get to planets to have the ground fights the game is actually about

My friend was like that as well and now he loves the setting. We convinced him to join a Dark Heresy campaign as a tribal death world recruit, so he could still play as a "fantasy" character, just thrown into a very alien world. He enjoyed it very much and soon got fully into 40k.

Honestly nice thing about 40k is that depending on what you prefer you can present it as almost hard sci-fi with a few soft elements, you can present it as almost fantasy with a big focus on space knights and daemons, or you can present it as something in-between. So maybe just ask your players to give it a try for a single one-shot and lean more towards the second approach, who knows, maybe it will buy them. Just don't shower them in lore right out of gate

Honestly from my experience people who claim they "don't like sci-fi" mostly have stuff like Star Trek or classic raypunk space operas in mind. Which is still abysmally shit taste, but 40k is almost as far away from that tonally and aesthetically as it is from D&D. And if they refuse to even give it a single try out of courtesy for you, that's just being a stubborn asshat

gork and mork were created with the species, along with the Eldar gods. These "racial gods" are engineered psychic defence systems to ensure that these races do not create malevolent entities in the warp. The Eldar fucked this up by abandoning the worship of their own gods and becoming hedonists, while the Orks simply degraded because they were a rushed project made purely for fighting and the old ones were no longer around to reel them in.
>>
>>97172900
this is genuinely fucking terrible display from players. When I GM the players have ZERO say over what happens outside of their IC choices, they don't get to "plan arcs" or tell me where the campaign will head, and they dont get to retcon anything either.

Also players need to learn that gear can be lost, this is not a video game where you get to keep a fancy gun forever. God Im so angry on your behalf, I hope thsoe faggots all get what is coming to them
>>
>>97175548
They didn't want to play his campaign and walked away. He's salty about it and tried to make them look like cartoon villains. I realize I'm biting engagement bait, but there's a slim chance some idiot is going to get as mad as you're pretending to be, so I'm going to post it anyway.

>agree to back him up during landing since he's expecting an ambush
>we owe him no favours, he will answer our questions and work with us until we let him go

I am in the cursed position of having a fondness for both Dungeons & Dragons and Warhammer Fantasy. I want to try and create some armies for Warhammer based on factions from D&D lore, but I'm struggling to get my ideas off the ground. Any anons interested in helping out? My current ideas are for a Githyanki army (plus a Githyanki vs. Skaven siege scenario), an Imperial Arkhosian Army (dragonborn), and perhaps a Scro Invasion Force.

>>
>>97170215
Haven't read the thread yet but are there many examples of armies in D&D? I'd imagine outside of B/X, full scale armies would be bullshit and OP, making the setting a bit OTT marvelesque?

You get a similar thing when looking at TES military, it quickly becomes unfuckable garbage under scrutiny because armies have to be bulked out by generic infantry, cavalry & archer units when in reality even Joe the Shoe Cobbler can be slinging spells like an elite troop.
>>
So, I said back at the start I really want to do a Githyanki army as part of this project, and this is my tentative outline for it so far...

LORDS Not sure how to handle the iconic Gish as a Lord unit.
>Grand Commander (the vanilla/customizable lord)
>Hand of Vlaakith (Githyanki Knight Lord)
>High Warlock (Warlock Lord)

HEROES Not sure how to handle the iconic Gish as a Hero unit.
>Supreme Commander (the vanilla/customizable option)
>Warlock (Githyanki Wizard)
>Ch'r'ai (battle standard bearer + priest - maybe fold into Warlock as suboption)
>Duthka'gith Pyroclaust (Hero version of the Duthka'gith Holocaust Warriors, a Lore of Fire-wielding gish)
>Knight Commander (Hero version of the Githyanki Knight)

CORE UNITS Maybe just have one Troops, Githwarriors, and can build to represent Fighters, Scouts or Berserkers?

So, Grimlock stats... any ideas? This would be my kneejerk outline:

Stats:
>Movement: 4
>Weapon Skill: 3
>Ballistic Skill: 0
>Strength: 4
>Toughness: 4
>Wounds: 1
>Initiative: 3
>Attacks: 2
>Leadership: 9

Gear: Stone battleaxe (hand weapon)

The lads were ahead of their time. Flesh and Blood was always a broken system. The players simply operated under the assumption that LSS knew what they were doing and hoped it would all work out in the end. Three years later and it just plain isn't working anymore.

I still haven't gotten around to watching that one video but I never expected FAB to be this contentious. I just thought it'd be a niche thing- it's hard to tell if the people complaining are jaded anti-fans or people who just didn't like it from the start.

It's mostly just this thread, there are occasionally a few disgruntled opinions I see on other social media outlets but for the most part its pretty neutral. Generally when metas get boring/stale or when there's some controversy around you see a surge in posting. I think the Dev Talk video that people are crashing out about on here was pretty much universally well-received outside of their treatment of Blitz, which isn't the main thrust of the complaints here

Some acceptable photos of my knights now. Glad heraldry was still simple during the 12th and 13th centuries.

28mm Barons War minis by Footsore that I'm using for the Barons War Outremer expansion. The one in red is my leader, the historical figure Conrad of Montferrat, one of the leaders during the third crusade and was instrumental in preventing Saladin from capturing Tyre and later being elected king of Jerusalem before being murdered by the Assassins. His standard bearer flies the blazon of Jerusalem but his shield indicates he's from Ibelin.

Sorry for effortposting your Friday

1. What systems have you found that have made combat engaging?
2. What do you think is a satisfying duration for most fights? Over quickly? Or minimal resolution (followed by optional exposition)
3. Do you find a sort of "bidding" of dice (such as in Riddle of Steel and her derivatives) fun? Or do you prefer the dice that you roll to be fairly consistent/static in their outcomes?
4. Do you find "maneuvers"- like in Mythras- fun? Do you find that tracking a number of maneuvers grinds combat resolution down too slowly? What about a sort of freeform ability to spend "bonus success" on maneuvers (sort of "fiction first")?

I'm thinking about my system. It's very inspired by Mythras, Forbidden Lands, and Riddle of Steel but I'm unsatisfied with it. I'd like to really look at the fundamentals- the statistics, the base mechanics, the speed of resolving each round- before tacking on additional details. Right now, I have attacker declaring an attack and defender declaring a reaction (dodge, parry, or block with shield), rolling a dice pool (attribute+professional rank+gear bonus) and comparing successes. Extra successes are spent on dealing more damage or performing maneuvers. I'm curious if anyone here has experiences in systems that they've found particularly fun, fast, engaging, and place a lot of decision pressure on the player (to replicate- in a way- the stress of combat)

"Why is your game fun?" "Here are all of the things that I think my game does well/differently from among the variety of choices. These are things that I find fun because I enjoy things like simulating knightly duels to the death and modeling how armor would protect well against sword blows but not necessarily a poleaxe. You also get to engage in roleplaying, immersively, and creatively but with an set of mechanical guardrails that preserve realism and verisimilitude. It's not perfect, but it might enjoy rolling with my particular set of rules." "you can't answer my question and your game must be AI slop".

At a certain point this exaggerated intentionally contrarian rage baiting just gets boring. I'm sure there's other threads on /tg/ more worthy of your time.

None of these are actual answers, anon. I can't believe I have to explain this, but giving me a list of things your system can do is not the same as telling me why that's actually any fun or what the draw of it actually is.

>At a certain point this exaggerated intentionally contrarian rage baiting

Thread #01 Winter Wonderland.

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97089644

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.

Finally figured it out! The DNDs' Fighter can beat all Fai!

You know how Fai can be fight with only Gold Iron? Problem is, literally nobody knows what Gold Iron is...

Dreadbone Heights, Mid Town Manhattan... Fighter is in Holi Mountain Inn 'n' Out... lots of 8x8s... that's when he realizes! Gold Iron is Gold + Iron!

Fighter gets Pickaxe like in mc... starts digging down! Falls!
'I'm literally the God of making water Buckets disappear so People get instantly assassinated by Ground!'
D*mn... Fighter has no more water Bucket! Wait... Spit is Water! Flips so Head falls first... spits! Lands on Spit... no Damage!
God is sad... literally explodes!
Fighter gets Gold Ore + Iron Ore...

Fighter goes to 711, uses Microwave, sets to literally 9999 degree C...
Puts Basket of Gold Ore + Iron Ore inside, lets cook for hours... does p*ss... takes out of Microwave...
You know how Gordon Ramses tests Hotness by drinking straight from frying Pan? Fighter does same... holy sh*t is hot!

I'll lay down the skinny.
>Campaign One
The party is a bunch of retard security guards at the Spencer Estate before the first outbreak, handpicked to be the kind who overpunish and don't ask questions, except for Tör (an obvious Umbrella Europe plant).
>One boring night during their shift
>Red alarms everywhere
>Brass needs an immediate deployment
>Weapons clear, so our gaggle of jerkasses bully the armorer into getting some kevlar, THE MAGNUM, and a remington shotgun
>A scientist took his buddy hostage and fled with 'proof of company wrongs' to an abandoned amusement park
>Said park is a base for rabid anti-Umbrella terrorists ('ecoterrorists')
>mallcops deploy in force to fight cletus and his shellshocked buddies in the park, both parties get to learn what a proto-hunter is because the company wanted some insurance
>Ultimately it becomes a bizarre midwest mogadishu, so professionals are dispatched
>When HUNK and the company men finally arrive the whole park is on fire, both scientists are dead, as are all the terrorists and most of the party
The best part is, one of my players - sweet, precious soul that he is - told the UBS guys that he'd been bit.
You can guess how he ended up.

A quick shout-out to my favorite moment of campaign 2.
Only a few players could make it, so we did a one shot (one of many) that still would advance the overall story without leaving the rest of the party stranded.
First, the dramatis personae in question, the two MVPS
Enter Digby:
>Survivor from Campaign 1
>Paul Blart phenotype, fat, loser Racoon City Native
>Turned down by the National Guard
>Turned down by RCPD
>King of Stolen Valor
>Run by the best player in the group with the absolute most dogshit stats, absolute expert in company policy and bureaucracy but fuck all else
>Wants nothing more than to be a hero, absolute loser in his 'civilian' life
Tor
>obvious Umbrella Europe plant
>former GSG-9

They engage in a four hour long (IRL) investigation of a resort-turned-evangelical Christian retreat built on top of a failed Umbrella site.
After a ton of sleuthing and a couple accidents, they quicken the draining of the scenic pond which was being drained due to a suicide where a few peeps drove their jeep straight in and died.
Entire pump system / housing unit now deflooded in the hole filled with BOWs who were personnel of a rival corp who tried to poach Umbrella's Operation here.
BOWs are light-sensitive, so initially none seems amiss.
UBCS command orders them to investigate.
They do.
As the team rappels down into the hole, they begin working through the site and collecting what they can, when it becomes clear the BOWs are all over the place.
As they begin retreating, the natives get aggressive.
>While withdrawing, Digby is stung by a creature and fails spectacularly, leaving him paralyzed waist down
>Committed to the Company, once he kills the thing he takes a bio sample and then passes it on to the team
>runyoufoolsdotjpg
>As the team rappels back up, Tor hits a complication on his connection with Digby from the last campaign

I have to say, the redone/colorized artwork for TMNT Redux is pretty sweet.
>>

GW kept mentioning space marines or even primarchs coupling with regular human women and it always took me out of it. Like how the fuck? Wouldn't she get ripped in half? But then it dawned on me. They just have tiny penises. Well not by human standards, but relative to body-size. Like think about it, why would you supersize the dick too when there literally do not exist women big enough to handle that size? So the simplest explanation is they just keep the penis size of a regular human.

Do you often think about cock OP?

Mersadie Oliton described Loken as 'equine' upon first meeting him (while he was changing).

Then there was a Grey Knight attached to an Inquisitor's retinue

"On more than one occasion I’d stood with her and her warband in the communal showers after training, blind and numb to any sensation of desire, watching her wash her hair and listening to her speak of serving in the sweltering jungles of Voroxis, killing heretics who spilled from a downed rogue trader vessel.

Bizarrely, the Khatan had declared, upon seeing me wash myself, that my ascension to knighthood was ‘a great shame’. Captain Castor had explained the meaning to me several months later, though I still didn’t see the humour in it."

So apparently women don't think they're small.

Amazing to read that!
The game is soo much fun desu, I am glad you had fun too :D
What deck(s) are you planing on building now? :)
>>
>>97175724
Just ones based around Digimon I like. That means an Angemon themed deck is first and foremost. Aside from that...
I've found that amongst my cards I have a Sukamon line which has me intrigued. I'd like to try and build a deck around that shitmon. Doesn't even have to be good, just for the lols.
Some sort of Agumon deck seems like its on the table.
I like VenomMyotismon, but also find myself interested in making a MaloMyotismon deck and the various cards that support it. Something with Myotismon anyway.
Gigadramon and Megadramon are 2 ultimates that I feel never get proper respect, so a deck for them, with probably some version of Machinedramon as their Mega.
I have every common, uncommon, and rare from the recent Hacker's Slumber set, so I feel like I should try and make some sort of CS deck. Maybe half Makiko Date w/Lopmon & Antylamon and half Goro Matayoshi w/Birdramon, Garudamnon, & Phoenixmon. I have all of those already, just need to decide what else to fill in the gaps with I guess.
Last, for now, but definitely not least. I saw that the Dark Masters have an archetype. I'm really not sure where to start with building that deck, besides the Dark Masters & Spiral Mountain, but I definitely want to give them a go. That seems like it'd be really cool to me. Could probably even include Apocalymon in such a deck. The high end seems obvious, it's the low end that I really don't know about.
I'm sure there will be a lot more as I love building decks for games, but these are what immediately come to mind for me.

And how are you checking the type of steel you buy?
>>

It says "stainless" on the order page, that means it doesn't stain, silly.
