Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to TSR-era D&D, derived systems, and compatible content.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons as played in the game's first decade — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching meta-plots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started.

That question was answered correctly here:
>>96509579
TL;DR there isn't really a reason besides "the monster entry say so".

Your "answer"
>>96508955
was a completely irrelevant take about "travelling" in dungeons, that doesn't even address the original question anyway. You just felt the urge to tell everyone how you have Dwarves "run" at 2.5× speed, something nobody asked and nobody gives a fuck about. And you did that by using the wrong verb both from the English and rules point of view, which made your retarded post even more puzzling.

Then you went full butthurt mode when an ESL had the gall to make fun of you for being retarded at answering questions, coming up with shit house rules, and also sucking at English.

Tau are space indians. Even their armor is curry colored.
>>
>>96507908
because the Tau are actual space communists.

Semantics fags try to argue they are not literally communists because they don't have a marxist tradition that can be traced back to karl marx on earth, so they aren't truly communist.
But this is absurd because they are an alien species that evolved on the other side of the galaxy. So they invented their own analogy to communism, the Tau'va. Despite what people have claimed they are entirely materialistic they don't believe in the spiritual, think everything can be explained by science and have a classless collectivist society. Even the the greater good is a communist slogan.

It was the players who fucked up. At any point they could have said something, tapped the proverbial X-card, asked to pump the brakes, just ask where he was going with it, etc. Instead they all just stared and gawked as Koebel giggled and grinned about how fucking epic this robot orgasm program was.

If we want to play devil's advocate, he should have read the room. He should have talked to the player before hand. He should have been aware that this was the wrong time and the wrong place to do such a thing. I'm not familiar with the rest of the campaign, but I find it hard to believe that at any time during the planning and then production of the show that any agreed to any sexual themes.

Given the way no one on the show said anything until twitter kicked up a shitstorm, I get the feeling that all the players decided to pull the ripcord and bail because the sharks were circling and Koebel was gonna get raked over the coals anyways. So they got the fuck out of there and pretended like it was because they were also so deeply, DEEPLY offended and disgusted by his heinous behavior. It wasn't that they were trying to avoid being dragged down with him. No no. It was that they were just so SHOOK by the whole thing that it took them a while to decide to quit. Smart decision too, since the cancel mob kept harassing Koebel until he vanished and got removed from numerous projects.

Trench Crusade General - /trench/
Weird love Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online, but are split between the website and the discord. They have all been collected here for your convenience:

my day job is running a sculpting studio, so I'm more gauging if this market is worth even looking at or if it's already become saturated by many players. We have a few minis that wouldn't be out of place in TC, but haven't made anything expressly for it. Dipping our toes in the pond by making a single mini that could proxy for it isn't a bad idea though.

Theres a few that dont have art or models still We dont know what the Black Grail Dirge faction is suppose to look like
>have been around since before modern wars, enemies of everyone, including hell, dont have beelzebubs blessings, actually use guns unlike base BG, names units as "executor" and "mourners" and "weepers" etc implying a funeral procession. Makes me think they are like Dark Souls hollows or something rather than straight up zombies.
And factions like Trench Pilgrim Cavalcade and Methodious dont have any art either
>Old testament. Wear blood as armour and follow the old ways and reject communicants, in return, their leader has the god hand. Everything about this faction revolves entirely around their leader being able to slap demons into dust without even using a weapon and getting gods blessings rather than relying on equipment.
>Methodious, nerds, focuses on mechs and guns of all things. Based in Greece at Mount Athos. Seem something along the lines of skitarii

Honestly, they would do well to add a little accompany book or resource for art of teh game and the factions with lore bits. Theres a lot of stuff that obviously doesnt fit into the rulebook but does exist.

You're welcome anon, unfortunately reality it's always less ideal than it should be, the other anon is right though, pick a centerpiece model and see if it sells well enough, maybe think about. I hope it works sculpt anon. Which studio is yours if you don't mind me asking?

To be fair, 5.14's character design space was fucked and Tasha's was a band-aid. Basically every class had 1 good subclass and 1 that was shit, plus a bunch of trap options. Versus 5.24 having 4 good subclasses for each class in the PHB. Plus on balance classes mostly getting improvements (aside from a few like the Smites).

Steampunk for GURPS is not a setting. Is more like a myriad of notes and suggestions to run a steampunk compaign but it really is fall flats for the American focus despite America being fairly irrelevant during the Victorian period. It also doesn't going in-deep about politics, geography or anything useful for worldbuilding. There's also a ridiculous section filled with machines. That said, the section about real historical characters is interesting.

/TG/ DEVELOPED A GAME
IT IS PLAYABLE. IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.
EXPEDITION is a ~1880s era, Jules Verne-inspired retro-futurist, underground blood soaked adventurescape.
It is a Skirmish wargame. Two players with their own expeditions, on a hexgrid map, explore & fight each other for victory and profit.

3 versions of the rules exist, 2 of which have been playtested. The main one is 2e, to be found :

>I'm still struggling how to make Atlan edits, particularly with the aesthetic. Atlanteans are clearly ancient greece with some more fantastic elements, and I like to think New Mu look like ancient iberians or other prerroman peoples plus dinosaurs, but Atlan is more complicated. I ended up going with a mix of fantasy armor art plus some of the images of the atlan book, though I still don't know if it looks well enough.
You are feeling my pain. If there was one faction for which we could use an actual artist, it would be Atlan.
>>96507890
>I'm surprised at how good the walls look.
Me too! Made from gardening styrofoam, the material is very easy to crush so I was worried it would turn out like crap, but it cuts very neatly. Cut a 1$ block in 4, put an hex base from the models on it, and just traced an outline with a pen, just that already cuts through. In the end the irregular shape works for it I think. A single block should get you enough for a game (~24).
The rest is discounted aquarium plants from the vet.
>>96506384
Lore and flavour is still in debate, as for gameplay if you have an idea you'd like to pursue, simply mention it, post profiles, or even just give me a picture and some descriptive blurb and I'll come up with something.
All actionable knowledge I have on pre-modern Japan comes from Clavell's (the book and the 1980 series), Ruroni Kenshin and if we really stretch, Musashi, so I'd rather wait until some form of cohesion is reached from the various ideas instead of playing lore arbiter, which I don't really like doing anyways.
>>
>>96510055
There are bits that could help to make a cohesive aesthetic, but they are difficult to show it through edits alone.

Here are a couple of ideas we could use to discuss how Atlan should look.
>>

>One idea was Mystery Meat can gain Line Fire by testing awareness at the start of the turn.
The way Line Fire works right now, it is not really about setting up a line, you get a better bonus by clumping up 3 guys as close as possible, if you set up a line only one out of the 3 models get a bonus (the middle one). So, maybe you only roll for those who would be able to claim it at the start of the turn? (this would be that it would very much lock you in place).
Let me read back up on the current MM before I make a fool of myself commenting on the rest.
>>96349576
>Another thing i'd like to change is how Einnmannpackungs work.
Its much more flexible than the normal ration, it could be worth bumping its price to 3, but I don't necessarily see it as OP (at least, not in comparison to the standard set by Warm Meals being one of the best buffs available in game). I'm more worried about interactions between it and the telephone operator/wireless upgrades than them breaking the game entirely relatively to M/WM.

>Olm-Steeds somehow
The Violonist unlocks them as Beast models but not Mounts, that could be a trait for the Uhlan Captain? The Olm-Wyrm doesn't have a Mount profile, just the one found in the Olm-Men book. The Violonist may not be sufficient to unlock him because its a "get an additional 25 Silver, which can only be spent on ... " clause, the Olm-Wyrm is 50, if you can find a way to skirt the 1x Specialist limit (I don't think there's one in book, at least, maybe through some unforeseen Merc combo) and get it to 2, then you got your Wyrm.
Or, also, could be a trait.

Alright that's good, as much as I like samurai against cavemen, dinosaurs and ex-confederate reavers, in terms of *gameplay* I feel melee and maybe bows doesn't exactly give them a decent edge against groups that wield rotary guns, breechloaders, and artillery. we have the battle of nagashino as a pretty blatant example of how that goes, and bare in mind that was with unreliable rope-lit matchlock knock-offs of Portuguese design. As for reading recommendations, I suggest:

>Remembering Aizu: The Testament of Shiba Goro by Shiba Goro
This one is about the Aizu domain and what became of it due to siding with the Tokugawa shogunate, it's actually pretty fucked up and really evokes the type of tragic romanticism that the fall of the samurai class system wrought on a symbolic and societal level. The writer was only ten when all this shit went down and was a russo-japanese war veteran who served in the second world war as well.
>Ryoma Ga Yuku by Ryōtarō Shiba
Another book that's an account of a participant in the Boshin war, it really tells you what the state of the conflict was like on the ground for most involved.

>The Shogun's Last Samurai: The Life of Saigō Takamori by Mark Ravina
This one basically speaks for itself, it's a biography of the Satsuma domain's and Satchō Alliance's likely most skilled general. it also details the events leading up to his insurgency and rebellion.

>Japanese Armies 1868–1877: The Boshin War and Satsuma Rebellion (Men-at-Arms)

This basically details the equipment, structure and general information of Japan's military forces that are period relevant for Agartha.

I've come to imagine them as something that may be best described as "Byzantine Baroque". Generally, the higher up the ranks you go, the pricier the model, the more you move from Classical Greek to Spanish Baroque. The lore in the book is outdated, and a few of the images could use updating.

I'll make my own Atlan Inspiration Board maybe, get into some specifics. But, to quickly address some stuff here: The mesoamerican stuff was mostly dropped and the start of the Eternal War / split with Atlantis moved up to after the Conquistadors show up; there are no gunpower Atlan units.

>Feed all the other Servants to the Grail and claim it as your own.
So you have to actually kill each servant and if one is lost, for example due to their master getting eliminated, your run is bricked?
>>
>>96511330
Maybe you can summon another or some other servant is worth extra like Gil.

I'd be a few more jumps in if I could find ones I like, with hot waifus and perks that fit my kinks. Or maybe I'm too picky. I'm the guy always begging for harem perks on these threads.

No. It goes like this
>Holy Grail Manifests
>7 servants summoned by thr Holy Grail, each servant gets a master who summons them and guides them
>When a servant dies, their spiritual energy and mana go into the grail
>When 6 servants die, the Holy Grail physically manifests
>Magi usually kill the 7th servant too by making them kill themselves so that the Grail will have more energy
>You take in the raw mana of the grail and you can make a wish if you know how to harness the mana and shape it to your will
>The issue, however, is that the Holy Grail is tainted with all of the world's evils, so if you use it, their will be massive backlash and maybe even an extinction level event
>Ergo the best course of action is actually to DESTORY the grail with a mountain busting attack
Now to answer your question about a master dying? If the master dies, and the servant is still alive, then the servant must find a new master to supply them with mana or a way to sustain themselves with their own mana. If they can do neither, then they will die, and their energy will go into the grail

Your run is NOT bricked but if you are not KILLING everyone you are not even TRYING.

TQs:
- Favorite Eurogame?
- Favorite Ameritrash game?
- Do you think the distinction matters these days?
- Bonus question: Is there a designer you admire?

I would argue that the crowdfunding campaign didn't do it much good. Too many chuds jumping on the chudykchad-train and leaving disappointed because they didn't know what to expect

About the same as the other factions but you have to meta game a lot more than the other factions. You have to be willing to take a loan and have an IMF intervention in order to get the other players to not take advantage of you. The IMF loans are the nuclear option that should be avoided by everyone but they hurt non-government players much more than government so you should hold your finger over the button.

>Favorite Eurogame?
Yokohama. Maybe Obsession.

>Favorite Ameritrash game?
Eldritch Horror

>Do you think the distinction matters these days?
No in so much as you prefer one over the other then you would want to know before you say you're willing to play or buy.

>Bonus question: Is there a designer you admire?
No but I do like Histogame. They've never done a bad game.

The combination of these two posts is art.
They explain everything I need to know about why Jamie's games are so incredibly dull. He is nothing but a tiresome golden retriever echoing the predominant opinion of whatever group he happens to be in. The frictionless quivering slime jowled, Jamie Stegmaier.
Keep on trucking, anontachi.

The expansion shores up balance and doesn't add too much complexity to kill the pace. Not sure if the Africa poster counts North Africa though or surely he'd have posted Kemet, Ankh, RA or any other Egyptian themed game. Yugioh.
>>96509750
Anon, do your players really not understand how warehouses, stables, inns, logistics offices and shops work? HT is obviously and coherently thematic.
>>96511076
Is your pretty great contingent on having the expansion? It didn't survive the 3rd play in my old group before my pal sold it. Wide as the ocean and deep as a puddle was what I heard. I was away when they tabled it though so I have no real opinion.
