It is a higher form of autism, but 3e makes sense you once you start seeing it as a narrative card game.

Exalted is a story game, the players and st aren't just playing a game, they are actually building a story, and every charm is a story in itself; so you aren't buying WST for your character, you are actually buying the scenario of your character creating stuff from the Wyld.
Because of this the Charm is the way it is.

I have been interested in oozes/slimes as of late. They appear as a monster type in D&D, Path/Starfinder, 13th Age, Draw Steel (in the starter adventure and Patreon bonus content), and Daggerheart, among other games.

Exotic and high-level ooze monsters include living spells in D&D; teratomorphs in D&D 3.0; astral renders in D&D 4e; blobs of annihilation in D&D 5e; mezlans, immortal ichors, and blights in Pathfinder; riftcreepers and oblivions in Pathfinder 1e; living apocalypses and cerebrexes in Starfinder 1e; and gray goos and plasma oozes in Path/Starfinder 1e. Shoggoths could count as oozes, and they appear as such in Pathfinder 1e.

Named ooze antagonists include Juiblex, Ghaunadaur, and Turaglas in D&D; the daelkyr Kyrzin in Eberron; the Voidharrow in D&D 4e; and Vorgozen and the suspiciously named Jubilex in Pathfinder 1e.

There are ooze-themed PC options every now and then, such as the oozemaster and slime lord prestige classes in D&D 3.X, the ooze master theme in D&D 4e, the plasmoid species in D&D 5e, the alchemist (oozemaster) and shifter (oozemorph) archetypes in Pathfinder 1e, the Oozemorph archetype in Pathfinder 2e, and the entu colony and selamid races in Starfinder 1e. I observed that an ooze race was popular in third-party Pathfinder 1e material, such as Alluria Publishing's squole and Dreamscarred Press's atstreidi and coreid; I once played alongside someone playing a coreid psionicist at 17th level.

The only dedicated ooze-themed adventure I know of is The Slithering in Pathfinder 2e. I believe it was poorly received, as its mechanics were questionable and frustrating: particularly the focus on oozes and incorporeals, whose precision damage immunity is unfun for several classes.

While it is common to see demons, devils, dragons, or undead as campaign-wide enemies, it is much rarer to see oozes in such a role. Perhaps intelligent oozes could be portrayed similarly to the Klyntar?

In Fragged Empire (may a better game engineer work on it and its ilk), there are zhou, permanently hungry descendants of a bioweapon originally created to eat an invading bioarmy. Their "brainpower" scales with size, but the bigger they get, the hungrier they also become; a difficult but necessary balancing act. In their original society (on a remote, near-forgotten biodiverse planet), those who grow too large (usually when refusing to split) are hunted and at times split or trimmed down into more manageable individual zhou by force.
They're greatly disliked by the current generation of the bioarmy, but are surprisingly good buddies with the robotic faction (the robots' foodless environments help in avoiding overeating).
They're able to incorporate a variety of materials into their self-made bodies and often "wear" masks for individualization.
They're also playable.

A unique take I saw for slimes was from the manga 'Saint Slime. Slimes are able to enter into a recently deceased host's body by mimicking their blood. They are then able to fully take over the body and it does not rot as there is now fresh "blood" circulating through it. Since their "blood" also circulates through the hosts brain they also have sparse memories from the original host. If cut they will drip out their true slime form. They are still detectable as monsters and are probably affected by anything that would only/greatly affect monsters. It is also shown that they can retain any magical properties of the host, though it can take time. For example, the main character took over the body of a saint that had divine powers. The slime did not have those powers right away, but through research and training regained those powers.

I just thought it would be cool to have a village of "humans" who seem a bit off and then later you find out that those people have the same faces of people reported as having died or gone missing.

What is your prefer method for when a player can't make it to the game

>In game excuse for the character not to participate
>GM runs the character
>Other player runs the character
And if the character is there, are you okay with the character dying when the player isn't present or do you try to give it plot armor for the time being? (as in the character doesn't expose itself to danger until the player comes back)

If OSR or "west marches" style adventure, no skipping sessions over a few bad eggs. Only those that participate get to go on adventures.
If I'm going to host a heroic adventure game like Star Wars then I'm going to have to require long-term commitment from all participants in order to make every session worthwhile.

If more than half of the group can't attend, then the session doesn't fire. Otherwise, their characters are assumed to be resting, doing gear maintenance, or talking to the locals as appropriate. Basically option 2 but the player often gets some input on the character's excuse for not being there so long as the player communicated ahead of time why they couldn't make the session.

I said in that post: It's the reward without the risk. This was a gritty game with maiming injuries but the DM was still in the phase of not wanting to injure or kill a PC if the player's not present. OK. But there's no reason diegetically they should be safe from harm in an AFK bubble but still coming along and getting EXP and loot for shit.
Secondly - it doesn't matter if you're behind. This wasn't a PvP game where we all needed to be on even footing or something.

At least in 1e there are plenty of ways to allow for someone to play against the class's usual type, a friend of mine once made a Punch Sorceror with the Orc bloodline to make his strength absurdly high so he could waltz into combat and wreck stuff with melee, then when enemies figured he was just a meathead he's surprise them with a (usually) acid based spell.

See but that's not what that dude is asking for, given that Punch Sorc came *at the expense* of the acid spell's efficiency, and that it is not a core addition or option to all Sorcerers. You should be able to use STR for punching AND casting, or that there is a STR option in Sorcerer kit that is as strong as the STR options in Fighter or Barbarian's kits. A sorcerer spell that runs off of STR.

I think it was Scarred Witch that basically just gave you cart blanche on which ability score you could use your spellcasting with, which often led to people using Con and just amping their Con for no drawbacks?

The thing is a tabletop "game" isn't technically a game. It's a platform for collaborative game development. APs aren't a cage that are keeping people from seeing the infinite possibilities of the setting, they're just a third party content package, and when content runs out you inevitably get a blank page. A blank page is infinitely more free but also infinitely more work. Some tropes and compartmentalization make collaboration process much smoother, because each person doesn't need to read an entire strategy guide about what each other person at the table's character can do to figure out their own role. The warrior does warrior things, the rogue does rogue things, the cleric does cleric things, and the wizard does wizard things. Stereotypes and derivative class gameplay keep the barriers to gameplay and content creation low. High powered games and variant rules like dual class are called such in part because you have to know a lot more about the game to know how to engage with them.
