Apparently the eldest child's collection has been given over to Scholar and now I've been tasked with cataloguing and potentially rehoming items.
Great.....
If anyone has something on their list they want, let me know and I'll go looking through the warehouse, may take me a while to find it as he was a bit of a hoarder and a magpie.

I already tried to access outside sites and it isn't working. I keep getting weird error messages. I'm not a computer wiz.

Got a peep at my captor when he put the computer into my cell. Not a good one. Big dude, greasy black hair. Not the Ventrue. Nor anyone I saw work for him. Caine, it's all gone to shit.

When we were on our way to finish "The Honorable Marquess Henry Scott" off, we got intercepted. Rather, someone threw a very large rock into the side of our car. I dunno if he was the nearby city's sheriff, or just some Gangrel who owed the blue blood a solid for getting his favorite spot of dirt designated as a park. He was good though. Dusted Milton and Reggie during the fight. Fuckin' claws. I made him pay. I took his damn head off with a jagged chunk of our totaled car. Our Priest, she was badly wounded. She wanted to retreat, bide our time. "We have eternity to get revenge; we can't do anything if we meet final death here". I can still hear her voice ringing in my head. I almost listened to her, but something else told me I couldn't look myself in the mirror if I ran now. Suppose she never had that problem. There were sirens, our argument was cut short. We went our separate ways. With her leg half hanging off, I doubt she made it very far.

I sped past everything to get to that Ventrue prick. Fuck the Masquerade. Kicked his door down. Fuck him. Didn't see hide nor tail of his little whore ghoul. Last thing I remember is seeing him leveling a shotgun, some fancy bespoke piece, at me. Then it all went black.

I'm starting to get hungry again.

As the other Anons said, the worst you'll be at drawing is how good you are right now. You may have days where it feels like you're making no progress and that's okay, no one starts their /fit/ journey by doing 200lb reps when they can't even lift the weights onto the barbell. Start with basic shapes, disproportionate cartoons, or tracing artwork if you have to; if it's a good enough starting point for the filipino/latino artists that charge sweet $15-40 commissions, then there's a good chance you can learn something from the effort.
Pic related, sketched my thief using some old computer game box art as reference. There are no fewer than three details in the face alone that I feel fall short of my imagining of the character, but I got it done with perseverance and a drive to complete something.

>In the AI image era, I think anything human-made gets a bonus point for trying
Could have been this for sure but society has always treated artists like dogshit. Ai slop wouldn’t even be as issue on regular social media sites it art groups that banned it weren’t also ran by powertripping psychopath mods and full of pearl clutching non-artists who exist entirely to start comment wars and bitch about any horny art that’s even slightly outside their magical realm. It’s really quite sad. AI slop should have been cause to liberate artists to be unapologetically themselves but the absolute dogshit state of society isn’t prepared for that and sloppers capitalize on that to grind authenticity out of society.

In the eternal words of Jake the Dog,
>sucking at something is the first step at being kinda sorta good at something.

Get a paper pad and a pencil and just fucking fill the page with doodles. Then tomorrow do the same. Then the next day and so on and so forth.
Use references, trace things, try to copy what other people make and then try to mix things together.
If your hands are jittery like mine, use a program that has a stabilizer, like Krita.

Most importantly: manage your expectation of progress. Learning to draw is a process that can take upwards of years before you start making things that look pretty good. Pic Related

You can do it, the only things keeping you from doing it are time and self-doubt.

Searching out some treasure and relics that was caught up in a tidal wave and flood in the area. Doesn't matter how long ago, they were underwater once, so that makes them sunken treasure and Umberlee's rightful claim.
>>
>>96800059
While Umberlee is evil, her 'worship' mostly consists of propitiating her to avoid disaster at sea, rather than going out to perform 'evil' acts (like causing ships to sink).

A cleric of Umberlee is more likely a Prophet of Doom-type, foretelling woe if the people don't take steps to avert misfortune.

If you want a non-aquatic Prophet of Doom, what about Beshaba, the goddess of misfortune instead? Similarly, she is invoked only to ward off ill-luck.

>What is this?
/TG/ DEVELOPED A GAME
IT IS PLAYABLE. IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.
EXPEDITION is a ~1880s era, Jules Verne-inspired retro-futurist, underground blood soaked adventurescape.
It is a Skirmish wargame. Two players with their own expeditions, on a hexgrid map, explore & fight each other for victory and profit.

3 versions of the rules exist, 2 of which have been playtested. The main one is 2e, to be found :

Ok, after a long process of checking all of the dates, I think I have a rough draft of how the timeline should look like. I have moved some dates and added a ton of OTL dates for context (the ones that would happen regardless of agarthan weirdness).

Other than the stuff yet to be written, like the Sebastianist stuff or the Taiping Revolution, the two events I've not gone too much into detail are the Second Oriental Crisis (because that still needs a lot of discussion, I've left some dates as reference but that's as far as I'm going before discussing this further) and how the Hokkaido stuff ended up (did the Mu keep the island or did Japan retake it? I'm warming up to the second option, but we still have to explain it). Also a couple of notes in certain dates.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

We played a bit into the 4th turn before 2eanon gave me the game.
>both parties retreat, and chose to blame the Lost Men: a diplomatic crisis is narrowly averted.
Believe the final Silver totals were

Austrians: 77
NSR: 71 + 25 (Pyroclastic Flow)

Dread I don't remember.
>comments
I believe this game was itself an anomaly. I rolled an atrocious amount of criticals, often on 2s and 3s, but also sometimes 7, and those 7s where the really harsh ones, as they are what killed the Specialists. Even with my good rolls, I won off anomalies. If it wasn’t for that very specific interaction with the Pyroclasic flow, I would have lost for sure.

That the Danes got more attention in the batrep isn’t favoritism, it’s just that they did more. Austrians just kinda stood there and fired. It would’ve worked, too. The Anomalous Shell never got a chance to get fired, or I don’t remember that it did. Also, having the Specialists near the front, while it gave him good volume of fire, it was also quite the risk. A solution to both issues might be to change the range on the Kropatschek Mechanism from a static 3, to Awareness of the model spending AP. Maybe lower the Awareness of the models that can do it, and give them Faction access to Growing Insight, and a trait that allows a model to pick up Unknown Tokens to “increase Awareness for the purposes of Activating the Kropatschek Mechanism”? It would help give the faction a more dynamic feel, I think.

Offensive Unknown tokens don’t work; they are too random. Rather, they should be treated like an econ thing. Put them on your side of the board, and try to collect them, either as Artifacts, or with Isolation Jars. The Anomalous Shell and Grenade should not have the chance to spawn as Artifacts, otherwise you are litterly throwing money at your enemy.
>>
>>96800233
>comments continued
If the Landwehr is going to be cut, this doesn’t matter, but it should really be 7 Silver, not 8. I should say, I don’t think it should be cut, though I can understand the reasoning. I should also say, the Untergrenzer should absolutely not be cut, because without it there is no ‘basic infantry’, no ‘core’ model, that has a normal interaction with Ethnic.
On the PKZ, 2eanon pointed out that it goes with the Field Telephone; I’d like to point out what a static interaction that is.

As for the NSR, they should also, I think, be lowered to 7. Quickshot Kalthoff is overvalued, and their stats are really nothing remarkable. I will say, I’m less sure of this than I was, because I realize I should have had 2 more on the board than I did. One idea is to put Quickshot on the Kalthoff itself, and bring its cost to 2. Another idea is that, seeing as they are going to be transmuted into a Faction unite, drop the Kalthoff. A Hyperborean version of it already exists as the Time Gun, and that’s probably a more fitting place for such a weapon anyway.
While the Kalthoff is overvalued, Assault Commander, it seems, is undervalued. The Warfare Existentialist and NSR Commander should have their costs increased, at least by 3, but maybe more like 5.

>Golden Syndicate
We talked about our next game, and it came up I might play them again as part of a Neptunium Baron list. I suggested Nothing But Glory lose its last clause, that says effected models don’t generate Dread. Maybe have it only effect Soldiers with Affixed Bayonets, instead of all Soldiers, and have it give Semi-Expendable instead? I like that idea. I still think the reward for Affixing Bayonets is too little...
Bayonet Training is too prevalent; the Kentuckian Rebel ought to have it regardless. Or, maybe he gets some bonus for Affixing, or they Affix automatically, or automatically after one does Manually? I'd rather just give them the common rule, but I can understand wanting Bayonets to not be the go to weapon, but for them (and to a lesser extant the Imperial Japanese Armyman) specifically, I feel it makes good sense. Automatic Affixing would go well with Automatic Alcohol, like we talked about changing Shot of Moonshine to with the Alcohol change, it would give them a sort of mechanical theme, and it could even be under the same rule "This model does not spend AP when Consuming Alcohol or Affixing a Bayonet".

FOW really isn't that bad if you play with historical TO&E. I still prefer CDS for small company level Vietnam patrols but for a big set piece battle involving air, armore, Riverine and nearly a battalion of VC, this worked pretty well. Did 10 turns in exactly 4 hours

It was fun at first, mainly due to the DM being pretty new being a DM who should of known better, while he was a nice and chill guy to talk with, we have similar hobbies with fishing and hiking, so he probably somewhere in /Out/ but he was a bit of a push over

Other players, not so much, they were the type of players that watch shows like critical role and what not and wanted to have something similar to that which while I have nothing wrong against it, it just sometimes annoying when people try to act like them

here you got this fucking psycho who you probably find in GOT (the novels not the show) threating some villager of slamming her new born child head in against the wall if she didn't tell them where her husband, who was secretly a necromancer ran off to or chopping off dead foes fingers and ears off to wear around his neck to brag about his kills when camping

and just generally being this annoyance that kept poking holes in their backgrounds, mocking their sob stories and more importantly their actions, mainly of calling them out when they do something deemed as illegal or evil, like robbing people homes or just murdering a old geezer just because he was racist to elves and told the elf mage player he should fuck off back to the woods and hump animals or whatever retarded elves do out in the woods and the elf mage killed him with a fireball, when called out he just shrug it off in character 'oh he racist, so yeah I did it' and the other players back him up saying I had no right to call him out due to my character past actions

After a while during a break, the DM took me around back and just ask me to tone it down a bit and I did because I liked the guy as long I'm allow to still mock the other characters, we came to a agreement, the rest of the game went pretty well without any issue after that

Usually if I play an 'ugly' character, it's someone whose life circumstances have changed them. Unseemly scars, a rough life, lack of sleep, or just age.

I generally like to make characters that are conventionally attractive. But I also like making characters who at one point were, yet their looks fell off due to tragedy, bad decisions, or the consequences of an adventuring life.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to Gygaxian D&D, their various modern clones, and content created specifically for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons as played in the game's first decade — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching meta-plots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread, feel free to check them out for answers:

Damn. His posts actually got me to read that supplement. I loved the more ritualistic casting and how scary it made sorcerers, but it's so tied into the setting you can't really plug it into your game neatly.
Hope he made some good progress on it. I remember him saying some of it was similarly quite tied it his setting too, regardless I'd still love to see it.
>>
>>96800089
>it's so tied into the setting you can't really plug it into your game neatly.
Yeah, that's the big problem with Carcosan Sorcery. You can't just lift it, and a version which you could lift would lose a lot of the flavor and interest since a lot of the point is how strongly it's tied to specific locations in the setting, which drives expliration and deepens the setting itself. I think Anon would *have* to similarly rope his implementation into his own setting for it to be worth doing.

Still, I really think McKinney set a precedent in terms of alternative magic systems, maybe more important than he realized at the time, and it's an object lesson in how high quality inevitably requires work, IMO.
>>
>>96800023
>He's just taken something that was already there and worked out the consequences.
Oh, interesting! I didn't realize that at all. Very nice, and good catch, Anon. I stand by the hunting part being funny, though.
>>
>>96800089
>I loved the more ritualistic casting and how scary it made sorcerers, but it's so tied into the setting you can't really plug it into your game neatly.
Yeah, you'd have to build the setting from the ground up with Carcosa sorcery in mind.
I've actually been thinking about it, for my next setting I might remove magic entirely and instead use the ACKS magical research tables to represent being able to research occult rituals that are unique and require you to start with what you want to do then work backwards. Any magic spells have to come from calling up monsters with spell-like abilities, ect. Maybe with miracles for clerics as well. A full on low magic setting would be an interesting thing to run for my group.
>>
>>96800186
I've been thinking of something similar, but a hybrid system. Remember how in The Dying Earth it seems that spell memorization is for pleb wizards, whereas the really high-powered ones have sandestins bound to their will, doing the magic for them? I've been thinking that it could be interesting to keep Vancian casting but cut it off at level 3 or 4, with something Sorcery-like required to obtain any higher-level power using summoned magical entities as middlemen for the casting. I feel like it could be kind of a best of both worlds situation.

Why would I take pictures of models that arent painted? There is zero satisfaction in having an unpainted 3d printed model. It takes zero effort and zero skill.

Oh, you are that rampant faggot. Sucks to have AIDS dude, probably shouldn't have taken so many loads in the ass though. I guess if I lived my life in fear of sneezes I would be paranoid too. Still, unpainted 3d printed minis are a lame thing to photograph. It would be like taking pictures of grocery bags lol.

The general thread.
Warhammer, Star Wars, Star Trek, Infinity, and Battletech all have threads on the board regularly that they have their own shares collections.

>She was young, the tiefling, horns like carved staves sprouting from her brow and skin the damp green of lichen. She smelled on the wood despite the weeks spent in the dungeons. Demon-blood marked her, but of what cast or root you could not tell. No matter, you were no scholar of the infernal. Your expertise ran a darker line: you knew how to make such things hurt. You plunged the glowing poker into holy water, steam hissing, and readied yourself. Whatever secrets she harbored would be yours, and if she knew none...then at least you would have her screams.

It's deeper than the style. The underlying checkpoint is Illustrious so it's all booru tag based like Danbooru Gelbooru etc. So that's why it's so Japanese. I wish my rig was powerful enough for Flux which is a more plain-language model that isn't explicitly Japanese under the hood
