>You're a native to Shower City. You don't have to be an orphaned high schooler. Pick any background within reason
>None of the companions exist. Instead, everyone is part of an online friend group that, when meeting for the first time, discovered the coffee table rune
>Other runes exist in Shower City that lead to different cities in case you don't want to join the main group. All runes and the objects they're inscribed on are invisible to anyone that lacks the ability to enter Gras Paada.
>The goal is still to defeat the 5 warlords, but in-universe the characters only have a vague prophecy to save the world from evil
>You teleport to the world Gras Paada solo during your first time to gain an adverturer's soul. Any subsequent teleport will require you to teleport with others to reduce its load on the soul
>Items carried by you can be transported with you to and from Gras Paada. The smaller the item, the less likely it is to get lost during the transit. Items that fail to be transferred will return to you when you teleport back.
>By default, souls only give you a themed set of powers and can talk to you after visiting Gras Paada a few times. The amount of influence they have is up to you. Most characters don't transform into their souls, but it's not the be all end all.

I think my answer to the weapon prompt might have been missed because it was near the end of the thread (https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/93186153/#93196487) but to add some more sci-fi flavor to Bill, I described his weapon of choice a bit like a bootleg of how guns worked in Mass Effect 1, and here he's reloading a lot, so I guess he got that hand cannon specifically for this job. It'd fit the situation where he's gotta shoot a lot.
I'd assume Bill could hold his own in a gunfight, but I didn't expect him to be such a combat monster. That's a lot of souls on his conscience, but he might have expected that after joining the Wings of Pandora he'd have to get used to jobs such as this, instead of looking for a good place to raise a barn on a newly colonized planet or herding xenocattle.

Seph rampaged throughout the island nation of Caelum for decades, seeking whatever power it would take to settle her grudge with God. It would take everything, every scrap of knowledge, every artifact, every howled blasphemy. In time, she abandoned her humanity to continue her mad crusade, and became a true calamity. A body composed of countless demonic forms, linked together to share magical power and curse energy, it's hard to believe she was ever human.

Then she came to Fiore looking for a fellow dark mage's writing, and was dragged out back and Friendship'd several times by a light guild. After several battles, she came around to seeing things their way. Now she's tentatively on the side of good! There are a few pitfalls, like how 95% of her magical arsenal is illegal, and the remaining 5% isn't only because nobody's seen it done yet. Or the aura of terror and despair. Or the people that want revenge for what she did in Caelum.

But Friendship triumphs over everything in the end, right? Can even a monster find redemption in that? Is there really hope for the long-gone and despairing?

And if she's still seeking revenge, can she really say the people trying to kill her are wrong?

The government most likely wouldn't Orbital Cannon her for using God Slayer magic, but you never know with those guys.

I just wanted it because it said "Very Illegal", in her case it's probably used to bind her soul to the rest of her, now that she's mostly demon by volume. Otherwise, bringing the dead back as demonic constructs could be funny.

Taken into the Order of Ascension's care for a time, Marian's experience became his greatest consolation, he was taught matters of the sciences, offered a modification as matter of thanks and given the option to be sent back out into the world. Not without lasting effects, a greater individual was born a S.C.R.A.P.P.E.R, building a small reputation and enjoying his own nice things for once in his pathetic life, the nickname "Carrion Marian" has been a name thats quickly done the rounds in the piracy and mercenary scene. Some nobody born gutter rat who EATS his enemies but sits with holy men, mad as a lark; bizzare and probably untrue!

He never did find out what was so special about that ancient artefact..

A colossal stone golem from deep beneath the surface who had come up to see what the surface world was like, and decided to never go back. Having officially formed his own guild of mages, Big Killer Ape Tree takes the stance that his guild mates shouldn't ever be tied up in one place, which is why he built everything inside of his own body. Using his own magic and getting some help from the local populace, he has shaped the interior of his body to hold every accommodation he could fit inside, including rooms for everyone in the guild. Big Killer Ape Tree's speech is still a bit amateurish and, despite what his name would imply, is a total pacifist. He takes extreme care to never squish anyone, which would be very easy to do on accident. This attitude is epitomized by the Grand Magic he holds, Overwhelming Calm, which eliminates all hostile intent and emotions from everyone in a ten mile radius centered on him. He only hopes that he can gather a lot of guild members willing to hitch a ride with him on his travels all around the surface world.

Bottom line, ME is soft sci-fi while SCRAPPER's a mix of hard and soft.

More of a case of the right man in the right place.
His muscular reinforcement allowed him to tank his gun's crazy recoil, while his enhanced ocular pathways and rapid response allowed him to make snapshots with deadly aim.
His opponents on the other hand were not significantly genetically nor cybernetically modified, and their access to the armory was blocked thanks to Lorik in the server room, so they couldn't get to any weapon cyberlinks or guided rounds.
All this served to put him in a corridor against relatively mundane guards armed with riot guns and sidearms. They never stood a chance.

For Tomoe, probably the most immediate answer is clothing. Going around in modern clothes is unideal since it'd stand out, but Valeria's outfit...uh... lacked surface area for Tomoe's tastes. Doesn't need to be armor or anything. Just needs a shirt of some kind, a skirt, and a maybe a cloak with a hood to help make day time less unpleasant.

Otherwise some simple consumables could be nice. Healing potions if they exist are a must-have. Simple thrown weapons like daggers or needles could also be nice as a base to build blood magic attacks around. I.E. she could pull out a needle and coat it in blood via hemomancy, using the blood to aim and propel the needle rather than throwing it manually. Not sure if it'd be any stronger, but I don't imagine vampires are too popular so the needles would be a good cover to explain any ranged attacks she does while other people are watching.

Another early essential would be a map of the area. Even if it's not a good map, just knowing the relative positions of important locations is really useful for travel. A compass would be nice too, but we can probably source one of those from Shine City. Other basic exploration items are much the same story, like rope, a bedroll, stuff to light a fire with, etc. All those things could be sourced from Shine city, but it's also possible that superior fantasy versions might exist, like a lantern that doesn't need fuel of any kind... Honestly, there's tons of things the characters could try to acquire, but affording them in the first place might be difficult. At least until we do some adventure work and make some coin.

As for possessions of Valeria herself, those would probably be in the ruined settlement of vampires, so even supposing there was anything worth grabbing it wouldn't be immediately available.

Apart from his plan to "upgrade" his suit Lucianus does not have much he wants that would be useful. Other people would carry camping equipement, and most basic survival stuff can be easily found in the mall. Lucianus would be more focused on stange little magical objects, like fire stones and charms to add to his collections. Some surprisingly useful magic items that would be not "powerful" could be in those collection items. Daimon did not have much of note so there would be nothing to get there, he used either no weapons or normal weapons enhanced with blood and lighting.

Bastly was born and raised in one of the villages nearby Balsam. His childhood wasn't leisurely; since he was a toddler, he had to perform heavy physical work, which made him strong and tough, but also visually disfigured. Add on top of that an occasional bandit attack he had to help fight off as part of the militia, and it's not unexpected that when he had a chance to move to the city, he jumped on it.
Once there, he found a job at a bathhouse. After years of hard work, his ethic impressed the owner enough that it convinced the owner to adopt Bastly and designate him as an heir. Some years later, the old owner passed away, and Bastly took over.Since then, Mr. Ugard developed his business into one of the major players in Balsam.
Part of that was thanks to his decision to diversify and enter other industries, including opening a Mage Guild. His magical talent is practically nonexistent, but he's a great administrator, and with the financial backing from his other ventures, he's surprisingly effective in the role of a Guild Master. While he certainly doesn't lose money on it, in running a Guild he doesn't focus on making money; instead, he uses it as a chance to give back to the community, gathering misfits and those who have lost their path. He gives them a home and helps them resocialize and become their best selves. Whenever a member needs someone to talk to, he's there with a hot meal, ready to listen and give advice.

Hob House is one of the major guilds of Balsam. With the backing of Ugard Industries, it doesn't need to worry about finances, but it might be lacking a bit when it comes to sheer magical prowess.
It acts as a rehabilitation place. The recruitment process is in a way reversed, rather than looking for people that could strengthen the guild, the priority is set on looking for people who could be strengthened by joining the guild. This causes a lot of new members to be rather "rough," but given some time to develop, they tend to grow into reliable seniors.
The guild hall occupies the bathhouse that is the heart of Ugard Industries. It's a vast, lavish building, and most of it still operates in its original role, but large sections of it serve as housing for the guild members. Especially among the new members, working in the bathhouse is not unusual to earn some pocket money between missions.

Formerly the sole human inhabitant of the Tower to the Stars, Primo possesses no memories of how he got there or who he was before. He was raised by the tower's other inhabitant, a disembodied spiritual mass claiming to be a centuries-old mage. Though their mind had withered away from centuries of isolation and not having a body the mage tried to teach him what it remembered of magical theory, and general knowledge and told him stories of the world outside the tower. This life continued for many years, Primo being sustained by the tower until his adoptive parent urged him to leave the tower and find his own life in the world beyond.

Doot Doot is a mage who ended up as the unfortunate last member of the Happy Moon Guild. All the other members were killed by dark mages due to the town's debts. In order to keep the small town of Pepperleaf from being destroyed, Doot Doot made a deal with the dark guilds. The Happy Moon will pay off the debt and in turn the dark mages will leave them alone. Using clone magic and the guild's Mana Pylon, he made copies of himself to make money. Doot Doot's are now seen everywhere working various jobs. When approached, Doot Doot is super friendly, but he's constantly in a hurry and often seem impatient. He's super dedicated and works non-stop, driven by loyalty to his fallen friends. Even though it's tough, he takes pride in his work and hopes to rebuild the guild one day.
