the very definition of blind luck. some retarded critics said they liked it and it just snowballed from there. lemmings and blind mice following and copying each other. the same movie would flop if it were released at any other point in time against something more competitive. this was also before the 2008 financial panic, so people were just going gangbusters for wine and lusting for whatever could make them feel a little snobby. i can't remember a single "good" moment from the movie. it's 4/10 simply because the director is good at telling a road trip story. but the characters are all unlikeable, and the potential romance is unbelievable. only pseuds and nerds like this shit.
I don't get the hate for these movies. They were good in their own right.

I was recently watching reactions to Forrest Gump and there was something that surprised me. At the end when he's reunited with Jenny for the last time and Jenny tells him she's sick, a lot of reactors seem confused and are like, "Huh? What's she got?" and are surprised that Jenny dies. None of the other historical events portrayed in the film seem to create the same level of confusion. Are young people today really unaware of the significance of the AIDS epidemic and how many people used to die from illnesses like Hepatitis from sharing needles and sleeping around? I thought these were well known things, but I guess maybe they're forgotten now.

What's a show that you can think of that had an interesting concept and potential but pretty quickly you lost interest because of bad decisions on the writers or show runner's part? My choice would be my Name is Earl, because Season 3 basically sucks. This just feels like a filler season so far because the writers were out of ideas. I'm really not interested in the jail storyline and apparently Earl never finishes his list so I gave up on it pretty much. Any other shows that get worse overtime I should probably avoid?
