I don't think a shit covered hobo would be a very shocking sight to a native of California.
>>217011228Cringe. Mulholland Drive was originally supposed to be a TV pilot.
>>217010069I live in LA and I don’t see them around much. Sorry Ivan.
>>217011255What does that have to do with what I said? You yourself are a dumb person who thinks you’re deep for liking David Lynch
>>217011589My point was that Mulholland Drive isn’t deep or strange at all. It was pitched as a prime time television show for ABC. You’re being stupid.
>>217011313>t. shit covered hobo
saw this movie yesterday, it was pretty bad, just a lot of outright poorly done moments. downloaded commentary track to see what ryan johnson has to say for himself.
>>217008492This was the single most damaging film for the entire franchise, maybe except for Phantom Menace. Which is saying a lot. It's really fucking bad and there were points in theater where I was legitimately questioning if what I was seeing was actually happening in a Star Wars film. Particularly the "yo momma" joke, casino planet stuff, and Luke dying for no real reason.
There also isn’t a single good action or battle scene. None in this entire trilogy really
>>217011572TLJ deserves more hate because George is just George he's not a good writer. But TLJ is so mean spirited snd snarkey and thinks it's doing us a favor by smashing lore and plotlines like a child smashing someone's sandcastle. It takes so much glee is destroying the solid albeit safe and kind of dull foundation TFA created.
>>217011572>there were points in theater where I was legitimately questioning if what I was seeing was actually happening in a Star Wars filmI felt this almost every scene. Leia in space, the bombing run where everyone blows up right away, the “uplifting” ending where the resistance consists of seven people, etc etc
I have never seen any of the new movies, and I never will. They. do. not. exist,

look at me, I run the learing center now
this guy was funny in The Curse
lolWant to hear something weird? I used to love Tom Hanks (no homo). >"Nothing In Common">"BIG">"Bachelor Party">his cameo on Family Ties as the drunk uncle (basically me)But I've never watched anything else. Philadelphia, You Got Mail, Forrest Gump, the Somali movie. I'm a weird dude which is probably why I'm on 4chan.
Excuse the blunt title. I don't wish death or harm upon anyone, and I'm not trying to predict anything, but there are just some actors/actresses you're shocked are still alive and/or still active. They just seem to go on forever. I certainly hope the Shat lives forever because he's a one-man kino factory.Just watched this unsold Nero Wolfe pilot, (pre-Boomer Columbo and most literal 'armchair detective' in the genre). Shatner plays Archie Goodwin, (his Dr. Watson), who does all the legwork. Which makes for an interesting narrative dynamic since he at some point has to instruct Archie on what to do to further the investigation. Obviously young Shat is suited to the role and any physical action that might have been required.>Actually a kinda lame plot for this episode with the hearing aid bullshit, but made me wonder if it otherwise didn't get picked up or air because of the detailed talking about Nazi rocket scientists working for the US might have been triggering at the time due to the Missile Race, Sputnik, and subsequent Space Race. Pretty sure the US government wanted to keep Project Paperclip on the downlow at the time, and downplay shit like von Braun's Nazi ties and portray him more as a victim of the Nazis forced to build weapons, etc.>Interesting little piece of television and Shat career history and worth your time at any rate:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_AoebAAig4
Ann Blyth who was in the great flick: Brute Force (1947) is still alive. Nancy Olson who was in the even greater flick: Sunset Blvd. (1950) is also still living.

>>217010122>>217009814And Tippi Hedren too. That's three classic Hitchcock lead actresses. And Shirley MacLaine too. But, most people say Trouble with Harry is a lesser Hitchcock, not a classic one.
>>217010288>Shirley MacLaineshe will die when snood finally gets an actual role in a film instead of being an influencer
>>217000562I quite enjoyed the later series.Separating the Sherlock Holmes style detective into two men, one a physical powerhouse and the other a mental one is a great idea and I wish it had been done more.
What's their best movie?
Wind RisesPrincess MononokoWhisper of the HeartNausicaWhen Marnie Was Herein no particular order: Also shout out to Kiki, Totoro and the highly underrated Kaguya
Should I watch Porco Rosso in English or Japanese?Same question for all of Ghibli for that matter.
Objectively The Boy and The Heron is their best film. Truly a magnum opus that combines all themes and not only serves as its own story, but also a meta narrative on the studio itself. But since you have to go in with outside knowledge to fully understand it, I would say that Spirited Away is likely the second best. I personally rate Mononoke higher, but Spirited Away has more mass appeal. Most other Ghibli films have at least one flaw such as Nausica, Howls Moving Castle, and Tales From Earthsea all being unfinished partial adaptations, and so on.
>>217011689You should watch them all in Japanese, but as you're probably asking about the dub vs sub because you're a retard, you should stick with the dub.
Ponyo is probably my personal favorite. It never fails to put me in a good mood.
Why isn't anyone watching it?

Do you think they'd buy it? Anyone who is still bought into their ponzi scheme by now is confirmed low IQ and physically incapable of the brain function required to escape these mental paradigms. They quite literally rationalize not buying tickets to see some shitty, cheap propaganda movie as being some kind of deliberately evil piece of shit, or a retard. No. It just looks like a shitty, cheap, poorly cast film. Not even because it has niggers, personally, but because it has dysgenic no-talent communists who refuse to back off of an industry. These union member SAG AFTRA faggots need to be investigated by the IRS, with military oversight for lethal protection against mafia intervention. This whole thing is just a way to launder money and scam gullible people. It's disgusting.
>>216998412this is just fascist architecture, greco-roman elements geometrized and simplified but not as monumental which makes it lose all its effectiveness, see for yourselfhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascist_architecture
>>217010626I'll try to break this down because it can be fucking confusing but is also interesting. The "Athena is Ishtar" pipeline unironically comes from Egyptian theologians looking really hard into the mother goddess Mut and Isis as a co-concept. The cult of Isis is really fucking old and her god concept is fractured into multiple gods (using an over-soul much like Ra and Horus) as Egypt ages. This is also the same as Bastet, once just one cat goddess who became many. That's an important nugget. You see Egypt through its conquering had to incorporate many concepts as a grew. It did not start out united as one place. One of these areas/ peoples was the culture who rose from Bubastis, which is where Mut and Egypt's cat god idea *may have come from, as that place is as old as Egypt's Second Dynasty. The name Bubastis is translated as "House of Bast" as in, the cat goddess Bast which Egypt would incorporate, who was also tied to Sekhmet and Tefnut (which are together with Bastet, are the "ladies or cats of Isheru" which is another name for Mut, which the Nile symbolizes, who had a lioness aspect when she was at war.So consider the above, as the Akkadian mother goddess, Ishtar, as a concept also had lioness symbolism when at war. Because she IS Inanna, just from the older Sumerian translation. They are the same god and both older then the entire span of ancient Egypt itself which was once PART of both the Sumerian and Akkadian empires. The Sumerian/ Akkadian civilization, who warred with each other had many of its collective concepts just migrated to the young Egypt becoming re-invented. The oldest city known to exist is Ur, you can still go there, it's ruins are a tourist trap now. Ur, as a place, is where humans first developed writing in Sumerian Cuneiform (as far as can be found). And the fucking Egyptians wrote in their own version of that cuneiform first, Before they ever developed the famous hieroglyphic system.
