I viewed their handling of Star Trek similar to the way Sony handled Ghostbusters.Not in the quality of the output of the rebooted material, which was a bad, but in how they market the franchise.Sony pretended that Ghostbusters was this massive phenomenon that has massive reverence with the general public and it wasn't just a franchise from the 80s with 1 good movie, 1 bad movie, and a cartoon. They even try to do a fucking Ghostbusters convention.Paramount did something similar, they clearly tried to FORCE Star Trek into this hierarchy equal to of Star Wars in the minds of the general public. They had all these conventions, the merch, the forced flood of TV shows for kids and adults. They wanted to gaslight the general public into caring about Star Trek and to make them believe that it's not just a thing that they know about through cultural osmosis and isn't mostly for nerds.The problem is that the general public doesn't give a shit about Star Trek like they also don't give that much of a shit about Ghostbusters. Samson also reminds me a lot of Enkidu in the Epic of Gilgamesh. He even looks like Enkidu (and anyone with knowledge of history knows that the Epic of Gilgamesh inspired the Book of Genesis since Enkidu = Adam).

If you had read Shelby Foote's History of the American Civil War, you would know he does a really good job of keeping his bias out of it.The one place he doesn't is where Joe Johnston is concerned and he apologizes to the reader for it. But you can't read about Chattanooga and not be frustrated with ol' Gentle Joe. I think the prize for "most incompetent gorilla retard of the war" is a toss-up between he and McClellan. Ironically, both were deeply loved by their troops and both did everything they could to seemingly keep their troops out of action (to the major detriment of their respective causes).They're really great reads and I'd recommend them to anyone.
