>>730640172I dunno about the first anon, but specifically for 3DS, I like its art style a lot, and the way it's closer to the older entries is pretty cool. It actually uses the 2 screens in a pretty cool way, you're basically playing 2 games at once. The top screen is 3D, the bottom screen is 2D, and the maps match up pretty damn well despite the added detail in 3D and the simplified tiles of 2D in stuff like the overworld. Very damn clever conversion of the game that manages to keep the whole of the game pretty intact, to the point you can use your save passwords from the PS4 version (I think the overseas versions got rid of the password system entirely) on it and it all carries over 1:1 if memory serves. I think the Past Words (small callback sidequests based around every single previous entry) were 3DS-exclusives originally, and for the 3DS version every Past Word's quest was actually styled after the source game, so you had 1-4 with Famicom sprites, 5 and 6 in the SFC style, and 8 onwards were 3D. Very impressive conversion overall, damn shame it wasn't localized back in the day, I'm glad the S version at least gave us the 2D half of it if nothing else, alongside the past words, though they homogenized them into the SNES style which has its ups and downs. Seeing pixel art versions of DQ7-10 locations is pretty sweet, and even the older games that were on the SNES have revamped tilesets with added detail, very cool even if I miss each game having a distinct style.

Just completing the game is boring and 100% is no where rewarding. There's also the fact that the physics are just awful and the funny part of Crash games, the death animations, are toned down massively because we can't have Coco get decapitated or squished into paste. This was also a problem with the Crash trinity collection although Crash still gets BTFOed.
