GBC is too fucking old, pick up the Gameboy Advance instead, it has so many great gamesI got a Miyoo Flip V2 and love it to death. It can run everything up to PS1, PSP, N64, and even Dream Cast (So below PS2), but it fits in your pocket and its shaped like a Gameboy SP. It can even plug into a TV and use Bluetooth controllers. IMO is the perfect cheap pocket handheld. The only downsides is that the hinge is fragile and it doesnt have fast charging, and the included MicroSD is trash, but you could get one for around 60$ on Alli Express. Get the EsDE Front end from their Patreon and youre cooking.

You still benefit from a higher refresh rate even if running at a lower framerate. The frames will be outputted quicker on the display.
