Am I missing out if I don't play Baroque on a Saturn? My friend really likes this game but he also says the other versions suck. I only have a ps2 and ps1.

It's because the game itself takes place in some kind of post-apocalyptic setting and you don't get much info about what led there in the game itself
>>
>>12257524
I will say there is a slight bias in coverage for this game because the primary source for information is one guy and his fanpage, so a lot of interpretation is filtered through him, but the game lore itself is mostly from official works, you can read it all and get a good idea what is going on. The game is more of an aesthetic experience anway, the plot is interesting and available but it's also just a sort of haunted melancholic dungeon crawler with weird designs.
>>
>>12257645
What's the best way to understand the story without reading a wiki or watching a youtube video? Is the supplemental material translated?
>>
>>12257649
Play the game itself first and there's translations of a lot of the supplemental stuff at

https://nervetower.neocities.org

But the basic thing you can learn playing the game very early on is that they somehow found 'god" physically and the group the archangel character is part of fucked with it, which caused an event known as the great heat/blaze which warped the world and fucked everything up.
>>
>>12257649
play the game and talk to the recurring NPCs, give them stuff they imply they need. The fun is reconstructing what happened and what is happening from a point of innocence and confusion

Turns out, ten years after the Retrobright fad from a decade ago, has only accelerated the yellowing of plastics and made them even more brittle than just leaving them alone. What more is there to really add?

You wanna know how you truly de-yellow your consoles?

you DONT, you CANT, it SUCKS, but deal with it
>>
>>12252710
Because the yellowing makes it rot from the inside.

Excuse me, but why exactly should I buy your way way WAY more inaccurate anal-FPGA core shit? Or even deal with a real Super Famicom anymore? And why do all the people who always claimed to hate emulation and only play on real hardware suddenly find the anal-og pocket -A, INACCURATE, HARDWARE *EMULATION* DEVICE- JUST PERFECT?

I mean monitors are no different really, that's why they have gaming monitors. A cheap budget or "work" monitor will not have good latency, that's for sure.

This is Hyper Iria. Looks like a great game. Now try playing and see the massive slowdown during ever single second of every level. Now overclock the CPU and see how smooth it is.

The first 1st-party NES game not released under the black box line. They were clearly proud of it.

there was a thread about cart terminology but it was deleted for e-celeb in the the OP
just wanted to mention that I was looking through the manual for Metal Gear and it refers to the cart as a cassette
>>
>>12254689
Like I said in that other thread, that seems perfectly fine since "cassette" just means "little box" or something.
>>
>>12249234
I just independently fact-checked this, and you are incorrect on both accounts.

>Nintendo knew the value of a good character and had clearly met one in Wright, whose unsettlingly wide-ranging expertise and taste for the absurd inspired the professorial yet whimsical 'Dr Wright,' a manga-style homage Wright was honored to accept
I don't think I'll get over the fact that Shiggy and Will Wright not only met in their prime, but that the former immediately thought "yeah we need to turn this guy into a goofy chibi dwarf with green hair", that Will was 100% OK with it, and that this character still technically lives on as a fucking Smash assist trophy. Maxis really was something else

Are there any benefits of using an old computer box to play retro PC games or am I just better off using a modern one?
My current box is a Dell. It has a motherboard inside, with a processor from Intel, as well as memory, a north bridge chipset, a south bridge chipset, a battery, BIOS ROM chip, pin jumpers, DIP switches, PCI slots, a GPU graphics card board, a sound board from a company called Sound Blaster, a CD-ROM for playing DOS-Roms, a heat sink, 2 fans as far as I can see, a floppy disk drive, a power supply unit, a PATA IDE SSD disk drive, LED lights on the front BUS driver, and a power button.

These games killed Pokemania and solidified the franchise as not for masculine children. If you were a male with a reasonable level of coolness you just went right back to X-Men since the 00s movies were out

i had a bunch of good CRT monitors but ended up selling them to scalpers because all my social circle saw them as useless junk and convinced me to threw them away, i had nobody to reinforce me in my hobby and the reasons i had them to begin with
